I tryed all options and none of all options doesn't work.
When I select 4th option it stucks on "Formatting partition 21"...
4th option is "4 - Repartition your device with preferred layout and bootloader".
Smartflash doesn't recognize my phone even I have all drivers installed.
When I connect my phone with notebook via USB pressing vol- it doesn't show me "S/W Upgrade". It shows me an android picture and I can't use SmartFlash which is the best option in this case.
try other usb ports... preferably ones at the back (not usb hubs)...
see if the drivers are installed properly... etc...

try pc companion repair
1st bought a new screen
2nd battery can be unplugged because I have not yet joined the back cover
3rd* PC Companion detects a second and immediately loses and can not continue the process
Hi everybody,
I recently encountered a weird problem with my download mode, and I could not find a solution in any existing forum (wich of course doesn't mean it isn't there, just that I couldn't find it) so I decided to ask away . I have had three android devices over the years, and rooted them all, as well as some friends devices, so you could say that I am an experienced user. I mainly follow tutorials though, I am not a developer. Last year I bought the i9305, and rooted it almost immediately. Since then I've had more Roms than I can count on it, always using adb, fastboot and odin flawlessly.
A few weeks ago, I had nameless rom (android 5.1.1) installed, and an update did not go as expected. I ended up in a bootloop, did a cache/dalvik cache wipe, and when that did nothing, I tried full wipe, back to a previous backup, even fresh installing a version of nameless 5.1.1 I new had worked in the past, but still, bootloop. Fastboot had stopped working, but not adb or odin, so I flashed stock kitkat via odin in order to reset the mess and start over. But since then, even though I rooted again, have a custom recovery and everything running flawlessly (I could flash a custom kernel without a glitch) I simply cannot flash any custom Rom. None. Nada. As I believed a Fastboot wipe could solve the problem, I tried every driver in existence to get it to work again, but my phone still gets recognized as "SAMSUNG Mobile USB Modem" in download mode with samsung usb drivers installed.
Please Help,
Thanks a lot, I'm dying of frustration here.
Update: I think something is corrupted in the phone itself, causing it to be detected as a modem on my computer. I say this because I tried to fix it and now it's also a modem in android . ADB still works though.
What recovery are you using? I don't really get your issue. When I plug in my phone at my dad's computer with Windows 7 it's recognized as a USB Modem too but odin works just as it should. I don't use fastboot nor adb, that's why we have odin/heimdall.

Sorry for the delay, apparently xda's mail notification does not work so well. I don't have a problem with odin or Heimdall, it is fastboot I have a problem with. Since my phone got recognized as a modem fastboot stopped working, so I assumed it was related. Could you by any chance try out fastboot? just download fastboot installer here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0MKgCbUM0itVVFWRC02Q0VBQnc/view and run fastboot devices, so I can know if it has something to do with the driver at all.
Thanks a lot, I really need a second point of view.
Btw, I tried several recoveries available, so I don't think that's the issue.
Can't say much about fastboot. I personally use a Mac and I never managed to get adb and its commands working with the Android SDK. Although I tried several tutorials - my S3 was never detected. I don't have access that often to my dad's computer. Otherwise I'd try it.
What could be an issue is that the Micro USB has some sort of defect. I had to replace mine after 1.5 years and if you google this issue other did have the same issue, too. Even with the normal S3. Could be a reason as well for you.
Sorry that I can't be much of a help now :/
Well my usb seems to work fine in recovery, odin and with adb, so I don't think thats the problem, but thanks for the hint, I'll look into that anyway.

I'm having the same issue with fastboot, did you get anything figured out? Sidesync, ADB, etc. all working ok, just fastboot doesn't recognize device. Device manager sees the phones as a modem when they're in download mode. Trying to use fastboot to OEM unlock my Galaxy A7 (2018), also using my S7 to test fastboot. Tried 2 differnt USB cables. Tried uninstalling & reinstalling drivers, both in device manager (uninstalling device) & programs (uninstalling Samsung & windows android USB drivers). Still nada.
I downloaded the Windows usb_drivers folder (don't recall the sources, but tried a couple) and pointing the "modem" to it for a driver, but device manager indicates no compatible driver in there.
Any thoughts?

Qualche idea?

Hi, I tried updated my phone to EMUI 5.0 Nougat from 4.1 on my P9. The update went wrong, I think due to a bad UPDATE.APP file and now I'm stuck in recovery mode where the only 3 options on screen are 'Reboot' 'Shutdown' and 'Download latest version and recovery' (which just tells me getting package info failed)
When I try to use the volume buttons to bring up wipe cache and factory reset it just tells me reset failed.
The only thing I seem to be able to do is hold all 3 buttons down to install update file but all the ones I try get to either 5 or 40% before failing or saying incompatible with current version.
I've been trying for 5 hours to fix it so thanks in advance for any help.
i am in the same situation...
Same here, need help.
wow! you guys should really do some reading before trying to mess with your phones. luckily, its not hard to fix. before anything, always make a nand backup through twrp. this way you can recover from whatever problems you encounter. im going to try and help with restoring back to stock.
1: your gonna need to get the srk tool found here in the p9 forum.
2: run the tool and connect the usb cable to your work station (not phone).
3: power down your p9.
4: while the power is off, hold down the volume down button and plug in the usb cable.
this should put your phone into bootloader mode. by using the srktool you can install TWRP. there are several NAND images available here that can take you back to stock or you can do a fresh install on your own. i hope this helps! oh, dont forget...... ALWAYS DO A NAND BACKUP!!!!
I got it working again.
I downloaded dc unlocker, put my phone in reboot mode with usb and used unlocker to install firmware file from the german huawei site. After tha the phone came back to recovery mode. Then I used the SD card update method with the same file. It failed at 99% hit the reboot button and phone was back to normal.

Io ho fatto così e ora funziona perfettamente.
ma a me non entra in erecovery
hi i have the same issue. i've looked around and cant find the firmware file that i need to put on there using twrp . could someone please help, its the ev L09

Hi all, after lots of trial & error, I would like to share how I managed to unbrick my Redmi Note 8
original thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/need-redmi-note-8-firehose-without-authentication.4031513/
many thanks to dxD7 who provided valuable info on how this worked for him
WARNING: this process requires you to enter EDL mode which means you have to separate backplate and short 2 pins on motherboard so USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! since its not quick&easy solution yet.. thanks Xiaomi!
Symptoms:
while pressing power button , the display backlight will turn on for approx a second and phone will vibrate and then turn off
while pressing power+volume- button, the phone will do the same as above but will show fastboot image for a second too
while phone is connected via cable its backlight will turn on for a second and thend turn off repeatedly..
tested on ginko, batch 2020.11 - but should work on other (older phones as well) not tested on 8T-willow but might work - some mention about it is in original thread
note that there is different kind of brick where after turning on the phone only the LED light blinks - it wasn't tested on that situtation but you can try it and pls let me know.
What you will need
clean windows without any previous ROM-flashing or android development drivers is recommended as it looks like windows is unable to fully uninstall previous drivers - they will reappear once device is connected
download xiaomi flash tool 20200314 from https://xiaomiflashtool.com/download/xiaomi-flash-tool-20200314
download QPST v2.7.480 from https://forum.hovatek.com/thread-22467.html
download fastboot ROM named ginkgo_global_images_V11.0.12.0.PCOMIXM_20201119.0000.00_9.0_global_37804edbcb.tgz from https://bigota.d.miui.com/V11.0.11....XM_20201001.0000.00_9.0_global_389eff34c9.tgz
prog_emmc_firehose_Sm6125_ddr.zip from attachment
STEPS:
unpack ROM (for example to Desktop)
unpack prog_emmc_firehose_Sm6125_ddr.zip and place prog_emmc_firehose_Sm6125_ddr.elf from .zip into your unpacked ROM folder: /ginkgo_global_images_V11.0.11.0.PCOMIXM_20201001.0000.00_9.0_global/images/prog_emmc_firehose_Sm6125_ddr.elf (overwrite the old one)
run QFIL.exe and set it up similiarly like in this video (i know it's for 8T and but same principle is applicable here)
leave QFIL.exe running, you will need it later
now the tricky part. remove backlplate, connect phone using USB cable (prefferably stock cable that came with the phone and into USB2 slot) and short these 2 pins to get into EDL mode

you should hear windows sound of device plugged in. check in the device manager - it should report as unknown device QUSB_BULK_CID:XXXX_SN:XXXXXXXX
now run xiaomi flash tool 20200314 and it will prompt to install drivers so click Install and check if your unknown device now reports as QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (if install process happended too fast and you cannot see the driver (this happened to me) please remove anything from MiFlash20200314\log folder and try again)
once the driver is installed, QFIL should show QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008 instead of No Port Available
click on Download Content to flash firmware
now my 1st flash failed - I got Sahara Error, so I disconnected the cable, pressed all 3 buttons on phone for ~10seconds until screen blinked and phone vibrated
I connected cable again, shorted these 2 pins to get into EDL mode, pressed Download content again and now it worked (took few minutes) and Download Succeed
hold all 3 buttons for ~10seconds and phone should start up
to my knowledge the error you will get the most in QFIL is Sahara Fail. according to the internet, this might be due to many reasons (bad cable, bad usb port, antivirus running, wrong firmware or firehose or wrong driver but in my case it was the wrong driver - internet is full of various qualcomm driver but I had succes only with the one included in xiaomi flash tool 20200314 ) for more troubleshooting please use for example https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usbdeview.zip check if your driver's version is same as on the attached image (2.1.0.5)
No reboot nor enabling unsigned drivers, running QFIL as administrator, disabling antivirus was needed in my case.
Maybe some of these steps are unnecesarry, maybe this guide can be written more understandably - sorry for that - i wrote is asap so I won't forget anything I did during process. Please feel free to modify it or I will try to improve it in the future if I brick my phone again and have more knowledge about it..
and I also need to figure out how to stick backplate to phone again so that it can be removed if needed while still preserving some kind of waterproof function..
EDIT: bricked my phone 3 more times aftrer trying to install RR but was able to recover from all of them again
UPDATE:
user Elinx stated that this happens only with 11-2020 batch and flashing FW 12.01 with recovery. So let's hope it won't happen on other batches..
It is also mentioned here (hope it helps):
see in this topic

I live in canada and I found a 2mm double sided tape on amazon for like 10$ made for electronics. I think that's what I'll buy, and I can come back with an update if it's good or not. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00BXYWXY8/
thanks either that or I'm thinking about B7000 glue which looks like many people are using for sticking battery cover
Thank you, I revived the Redmi Note 8 in the way you share.
u re welcome. good to see it works!
Hi, i will follow this process, but i have a different kind of brick, it`s completely dead, not vibrate, no led, nothing. The only sign of life is the sound in my pc when i connect/disconnect usb cable and i can see it in MiFlash as "COM3" and "QUALCOMM HS-USB QDLoader 9008" in QFIL.
It will work?

I'll bookmark your work if I need it again in the future
Cheers man. Thanks.
Nice work !

its here on xda, if you find it update your tutorial
I haven't tested this myself, but with unlocked bootloader you maybe can use the fastboot command:
fastboot oem edl
I haven't seen this with RN8 on XDA, but with RN7 Pro and Poco X3
thanks a lot, got my phone back.

From what I understand, this looks a specific problem with Board ID 3.29.
The reason could be that only the same Miui version or higher and same region can be flashed than the one with which the phone came.
Also flasshing without battery connection could help.
I too had this flashing backlight problem and found the reason why this happens.
It is only the november 2020 batch (11-2020) which has Miui 11.0.11
This batch can't be flashed with recovery to Miui 12.01 or 12.01 FW.
If you do this, your phone get this brick, while there isn't a single error with twrp flashing.
No fastboot, No recovery, No system anymore
You need EDL testpoint and patched firehose file to revive your phone.
With twrp, Flash Miui12.02 or higher , you will never notice this problem.
