Nougat fastboot flash recovery issue... remote: command not allowed - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

Hello,
I had the Vie-L09C432B181 before with root.
Bootloader unlocked and twrp 3.0.2 installed.
Today I updated to Nougat Vie-L09C432B360 via OTA, worked flawless!
Bootloader is still unlocked.
OEM unlock is greyed out.
TWRP is gone.
The updated went good and the first impression is good.
However I want my root back.
So I boot in fastboot and try to install the twrp image.
Everytime I get an "...remote: Command not allowed" message when I try to flash recovery.
I tried it with:
K-RecTools_95x_EMUI5_PC
Manually via admin cmd and adb.exe
Srk 2.0
All tools get the same error.
Fastboot&Rescue Screen state: Phone unlocked; FRP Lock
Any help in solving this issue is greatly appreciated.
I tip you a beer or two for the successful post which give me root and twrp back.
Thanks!
P.S.: I am regular reader of that forums but I post very rarely here!
So I have not enough postings to post this in the Rom Forum.

I tried this and worked perfectly.

I tried this also before my post, no win for me.
It seems it`s not an issue of files.
I guess it is an problem with flashing the recovery image, so a system setting issue???
I have no idea, but it seem not related to the files, because I tried 2 different versions
3.1-vienna and this twrp 3.1 from the thread you linked.
Edit:
I tried also fastboot oem unlock 39487329874932 (not the real code here)
But it has the same remote command not allowed error...

Had the same problem. But the re-unlock of bootloader solve it. Factory reset of course, but it worked on mine Honor 6X (EMUI 5.0, Nugat 7).

PRA-LX1 No Brand Dual SIM Bricked

Hi all,
I have a problem with my Huawei P8 Lite 2017.
Yesterday I forced an update with 'Huawei Firmware Updater' app from Android: I had PRA-LX1C432B170 and B172 was installed.
At the beginning it said 'Your Device has failed verification and may not work properly', but it booted after manually pressing the Power Button.
Than, trying to fix this, I messed everything up and now the phone won't boot!
Can you please help me?
I have Unlocked Bootloader, FRP Unlocked and can easily access stock recovery and fastboot and flash everything, but nothing seems to work: I tried the 'Unbrick' function from 'Huawei Multi-Tool', but the file I flashed didn't work at all... even factory reset stucks at 99%!
Can I ask you what to do?
It's impossible to find anything for Dual SIM Unbranded phones, like mine! I just can't find the original update.zip of PRA-LX1C432B170 version.
I just want to make it work again!
Thanks for your support, and Happy New Year to you all!

You can use Firmware finder app on play store to get the ROM...then use Huawei update extractor to extract the system.img ,boot.img from update.app and flash them via fastboot commands and then do a factory reset.

I tried with the Windows version of Firmware Finder, but the version I'm trying to find (B170) is unavailable.
What can I do if I can't find that specific version? I have no ideas.

Flashed system.img and boot.img in this order, but it stucks on the page of unlocked phone (Booting Phone Now...), so I booted recovery and then I did a factory reset. Nothing happens but the Huawei logo showing up for a few seconds, then it reboots.

In this case I think you damaged the Vendor partition during the force update...you can't flash (product.img, version.img,cust.img and vendor.img) via fastboot commands...you either try to use dd commands to flash them...and it's a little bit risky or you find a TWRP backup from your build...or you can use DC Phoenix tool to unbrick your device

Thanks for the useful tips!
I don't know what product.img, version.img or cust.img are used for, but cust.img can be sent through fastboot (I think so because Multi-Tool let me choose it for fastboot flash in the 'Unbrick' section).
What I'm trying to do now is to download the same version I had before (B172 FULL-OTA MF) and I try to send it via fastboot.
Any other Ideas?
Can I Install TWRP and a Custom ROM or TWRP + Original ROM?
You can try to use TWRP and a custom ROM...but as far as I know all the custom ROMs for this device have bugs...but you are free to try them
Sent from my PRA-LA1 using Tapatalk
Can try this 3 methods...
- Flash via fastboot the stock recovery, boot and system from b182, factory reset in stock recovery and try to boot.
- Install twrp in recovery2 (eRecovery), search for the b182 backup and follow the steps to restore it.
- Pay to use Dc-Phoenix (near 15€) and flash with their app a full stock rom (the app help you to download a full rom)
Good luck!

Hi All!
Thanks for your tips.
I've followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...uide-unbrick-huawei-p8-lite-2017-pra-t3713574
and now the phone boot and works, but I have some problems:
1. Firmware says P9 Lite 2017 (but it's correctly a PRA-LX1 firmware)
2. Patches are from June and I can't find any firmware update... I think I have an hybrid firmware, because I have both IMEIs but something (like Google Patches) are related to the firmware of the guide I followed.
I have one question to ask: I have an unlocked bootloader and I don't want to see the message at Phone Power-On, but if I Re-Lock the phone won't boot: I had to unlock the bootloader to make it working. What can I do?
Is it possible to find an official B182 firmware and flash it into my Phone? It maybe the best/clean solution for my phone.

Your English is very good and the link is very useful!
Thanks, this is what I was looking for!
The idea to extract the boot, recovery and system imgs is intelligent, but the ROM of that Link seems to be rooted, so maybe it won't work at all.
I'll give it a try and I'll report back if it works or not.
Thanks for the tips

If you can flash twrp in recovery2 you can restore the full backup following the steps in the another thread, if not, find another b182 backup no-rooted and try, but i think the restore method is the best option, good luck!

Hi @dannyzamora
Restore of my phone worked and now I have a full stock phone!
I wrote a guide in the other thread to help other people who have similar problems to try to fix their phone.
Your suggestion was very helpful and now I can use my phone as it was before (apart from a bug, the only one, related to MagazineUnlock that is not working at all... nothing that compromise the use of the phone, obviously).
Thanks

SOLVED! Stuck in 8.0.0.046(01BN) / Can't flash any TWRP

Hi guys,
got a little problem on my VTR-L09C432.
I got Oreo running like explained right here: http://www.stechguide.com/install-android-8-0-oreo-on-huawei-p10/#comment-12332
After that, Oreo bootet fine. But to get a clean install, I did a factory reset.
After that my Version is 8.0.0.046(01BN) and not 8.0.0.311.
There are a few little bugs so I decided to flash once again. I tried to flash TWRP in fastboot mode. -> No success
I tried to flash with the following command: fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp***.img -> SUCCESS!
BUT no i get an Error message when trying to boot into recovery:
Attention! Please update system!
"- picture of the little green guy-"
Error!
Func No 11 (recovery image)
Error No 2 (load failed)
gettin into eRecovery is no Problem. System boots fine and runs better than Nougat, better battery life, with a fews little bugs.
How do I get a TWRP running?
In case if no chance, how do I get system oreo Recovery flashed an running?
Will it be possible to get official updates, when I will get back to original recovery?
One big bug is that my screen won't turn on when receiving notifications... even not with the help of a third party app Any idea how to fix it anyway?
If TWRP will be flashed successfully, is there a Chance to flash these 3 Update-Files through twrp?
Thx a lot!
You have flashed a C900 and you have a C432. So your device didnt find all needed files.
Try to flash this twrp (its in a MEGA Folder) and report .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/stf-l09c432-how-to-install-oreo-h9-t3707729
Thx for your reply. You mean there are files, which I need to flash again for my c432 device?
I flashed the twrp from your link.
Flashing was fine but no chance to get into twrp. Still the same error.
Can I flash the RAMDISK or Recovery Ramdisk from your mega-source?
UPDATE: I flashed STR_Stock_Recovery from your Mega-Folder and got success. Now I can boot into stock recovery and into Erecovery. But still no TWRP is working...
UPDATE2: I got a working TWRP by flashing this one: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/how-to/guide-mate-9-flash-oreo-update-package-t3699522
Now my question...can i flash the Supersu from your mega-folder onto my P10? Or will it be bricked?

Hi Guys,
Problem is solved! For those who got the same problem, follow these steps:
You need this link for all following steps(thx to blackball!): https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/how-to/stf-l09c432-how-to-install-oreo-h9-t3707729
If you haven't got fastboot error, start at point 2.!
1. To get Fastboot Error removed, flash Stock Recovery from link above (in fastboot mode)
2. boot in fastboot mode (shutdown, restart by pressing power&vol- with usb cable attached)
3. Flash TWRP Recovery from link above fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP***.img
3.1. if this doesn't work, flash TWRP attached below this link
4. boot in to twrp recovery (shutdown phone, restart by pressing power & vol+)
5. Flash supersu.zip from link above
6. reboot
7. install root browser or similar from playstore
8. get root privileges to root browser
9. reboot
10. navigate to /cust/hw/
11. rename "normal" folder to "eu" (without the quotes)
12. navigate to /version/special_cust/STF-L09/hw
13. rename "normal" folder to "eu" (without the quotes)
14. reboot
15. that's it!
Thx to blackball for the help!

Thx for this guide, i will try it later!!! But whats the main change now???
When i see it clearly, then you still have the 8.0.0.046 Version on your device... But you have a working TWRP.... And you will receive official updates?
I am wondering, becaus i did the same with my P10 ( i am on 8.0.0.046 too) and i am not sure, if this is an official version with official updates... If it isnt, i will try to go back to Nougat...

But you dont actually need the root browser, because you can change those folders in twrp too!
Secondly i have a question:

Put zip file on external SD card. Your internal is encrypted.

ok, i hoped it is on Android O not encrypted anymore.
But anyway thank you works likes new now!
just a little bit off topic question: is there any new version available? when i check systemupdates it says that that my Version (8.0.0.311) is the latest available. just wanna be sure
deleted
8.0.0.046(04vt)
Does someone has a solution for the 8.0.0.046(04VT) version? If I navigate to /cust/hw/ I find now two folders: eu and normal. In /version/special_cust/VTR-L09/hw I find the eu. folder. So what to change here? Thx

I have upgraded from Nougat to Oreo following the guide written at the beginning of this post.
Oreo now is installed, phone is not rooted and when I go to fastboot mode to flash Oreo TWRP, this happens:
C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp_oreo.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery_ramdisk' (20336 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.474s]
writing 'recovery_ramdisk'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)

Bootloader and frp are both opened and RED in fastbooot mode.
The build number is: System 8.0.0.046(01UV)
EMUI version: 8.0.0
Android version: 8.00
Some ideas ?

same for me after hwota and rebrand fail. And I don't find the STR_stock just 2 STR_recovery but even if android say flash sucessfully i can't acces to recovery nor ercovery.
P.S: I was using OREO rom when I try to rebrand
It can works on Huawei P10 EMUI 8.0.0? How to root that model? I stuck on how to install twrp,. Please help me.....
my system is saying im on 8.0.0.046(0BZC and i can't even get the erecovery or twrp to work at all. nobody around here wants to help or pin point me in any direction either
I have exactly the same problem, but the locations mentioned here don't even exist on my phone, so I can't rename them
10. navigate to /cust/hw/
11. rename "normal" folder to "eu" (without the quotes)
12. navigate to /version/special_cust/STF-L09/hw
cust does not contain a "hw" folder, just a "lost+found" one.
version/special_cust/VTR-L09/hw does exist, but when I try to rename "hw" I get "operation failed".
Very annoying!
I stuck also inside the 8.0.0.046 !
And i dind´t found any solution for this.
This is what i allready tried:
- official eRecovery : download from huawei. But didn´t worked after download. Stucked at 0%
- TWRP oreoupdate ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/how-to/guide-manual-updgrade-to-update-oreo-t3758286 )
- TWRP HuRuUpdate ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-9/development/tool-flash-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279/ )
- TWRP HWOTA8 ( https://www.******.com/huawei-hwota-tool-for-huawei-devices/ )
Just to answer my pre-writers:
You need to "mount" the folders "cust" and "version" to see something inside. Only then you are able to change things. In my case this changes
didn´t affect something positive to my version number.
Not sure what i did wrong. Maybe my false was
- Wipe all with TWRP instead with eRecovery
or because
- i flash my (C02) witth (C432) version
So i tried 4x different ways to solve my issue (mostly with TWRP). With no success. If somebody read this, it would be great to get some tips or a complete solution. Would appretiate it.
Okay.
Somehow i found a solution by myself. I have to guess, that the issue is / was of a wrong build nr. In my case i got a previous vers. VTR-L09 8.0.0.382(C02)-FULL. So i updatet to a different build (C432). After
this my Themes disappeared, no file manager and the vers. no. was 8.0.0.046 , somehow. So i tried to go back to VTR-L09 8.0.0.382(C02)-FULL which i downloaded before. Tried both methods: dload, TWRP. No
success. In the end i downloaded VTR-L09 8.0.0.389(C02)-FULL and this worked with the TWRP update method: oreoupdate (check my previous post). After the Update with TWRP before it boots into the
system i was triggering eRecovery to do a "wipe chache / factory reset". Finaly, after all of this, i got a working device as it should ! I hope it can help maybe some people. If everything doesn´t work, just try a different update build number.

I Soft Bricked my P10

So, I tried to update my P10 (like an idiot) and obviously failed leaving me in a bootloop, I can access fastboot and recovery, but nothing else, I have an unlocked bootloader too, what can I do to solve this? My P10 is the VTR-L09C605B166 variant that I tried to update to the B210 version (Oreo) I just want a real fix I didn't try anything because of the fear of breaking my phone even more, and I don't know if a technician will help me because of my unlocked bootloader and the warnings that appear, please help, thanks in advance.
Are you able to install and boot twrp?
How did you try to update?
For twrp you can use my guide.
You can easily check if you're on Oreo by using fastboot command "fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk TWRP.IMG". If it shows a partition length error, you're still on nougat and need to install a nougat twrp with command "fastboot flash recovery TWRP.IMG".
When TWRP work you can proceed with my guide.
But I need to say: without any warranty.
Everything you do can cause a brick even if it should be safe.
Other solution is to try to relock your bootloader (you need your unlock code!) and try a factory reset or restore with eRecovery - this is the official way and works only if nothing is modified in the system.
BTW: B210 isn't Oreo, I think.
B36(X) are Oreo builds.. You must have downloaded some unreleased software :/

Hello, I am in the same situation as the guy above: I can access fastboot and recovery and my phone is unlocked - I have Nougat VKY-L09C432B185...
Can I follow your guide with a Nougat phone?
Thank you
P.S.
I tried to install update.zip via TWRP but I got the "Error 9" error

You can try it. The recovery within my archives is from VKY, so it should work. The devices are kinda similar. Just download the right firmware for your model (VKY) and region (Cxxx, like C432), and also FullOTA.
It can be possible that my script doesn't work with your phones partitions. If so, please post the TWRP output, then I'm able to rewrite the script for you.
You can do it by yourself if you know the partitions for recovery and recovery on you device.
Hi. I can't access recovery. Phone is completely off. I connect to USB and computer recognizes de phone USB SER. I hard bricked. It happened after I upgraded to oreo version. It shut off and it never turned on again. I tried power +vol. Can't get aceess to recovery just black screen. I appreciate if you can help. Thank you

flashing rom via TWRP with frp lock?

Hi, I'm in a bad situation. My honor 9 lite (Europe) has no OS, frp lock. But it does have TWRP installed.
My question would be, since I can't flash an OS (given the frp lock) via fastboot, would it work via TWRP? Or should I just give up and buy a new phone?
Thanks a lot.
Best
Since you have TWRP, try using HURUpdater tool. It is compatible with H9L.

Hi,
thanks a lot for the tip. Unfortunately, I keep getting an error when flashing following the instructions.
I discovered that nonetheless I can flash roms with TWRP. There is one particular rom, this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-t3753555 that works particularly.
However, my device with that rom keeps giving me an error "bluetooth keeps stopping". Any way to solve that?
I really don't know a solution.
Can't you enable OEM unlock in settings/developer options? so that to make frp unlocked?
Yes.
After that, I was able to finally flash stock rom
However, there's a new issue: wifi doesn't work. It actually seems like whatever rom I flash, wifi won't work the slider turns off as soon as I turn it on
Did you wipe data/factory reset through eRecovery after flashing? That is important in most cases!

No I did not. I think I used TWRP to do that. Will do with eRecovery next time and update you
I am still without WiFi.
I think the problem lies in the fact that my stock ROM comes from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/9-lite/how-to/guide-unbrick-device-recover-bootloop-t3772563
I had oreo 8.1 before brick, and the rim above that I flashed is 8.0 and Indian version (not european). That maybe could explain the issue.
Problem is, I would need a system.img stock ROM to file and I can't seems to find that. In Huawei firmware finder, I only get update.zip kind of files and TRWP returns error when flashing that or when I use the HuRUpdater tool.
Also, I've noticed it's not just the WiFi, but also security options and themes for some reason
you need a working frp image which in twrp can flashed via dd... so the frp lock is gone...
In telegram group you can find image.

The system.app file you search for is in the update.zip file you get and you cannot flash update.zip directly from twrp, you need HuRupdater for that and the dload method doesn't work for almost anyone including me.
And you need correct the firmware for your motherboard if you want your phone to work properly.
First tick oem unlocking in developer options. Then unlock fastboot and flash TWRP.
Since you are able to boot up check your varient, the complete one not just the LLD but the rest too. Search for it in Huawei firmware finder and download the latest firmware for your model. You'll get 3 links and you'll need all three.
Download HuRupdater 0.3 zip and then rename the 3 files you got as told in the HuRu instructions. get twrp image and rename it to recovery.img and put all files in the same folder. If you want to completely revert to stock you don't have to have recovery.img but keep it just in case.
Then flash HuRupdater using twrp. You should be up and running if you did everything right.
You can then remove the recovery.img and then flash again using HuRupdater and relock the fastboot too later if you wanna play things safe using fastboot relock bootloader 'your code' .
please help me, honor 9 lite last night my flash rom forgot the data format so now can not boot into the operating system, locked FRP, can not enter the TWRP.
Hello, I know it's been a long time. I put the issue aside for a few months as I had another phone to use in the meanwhile just wanted to let you know i Just did the procedure you described and it worked perfectly! The phone is back to life

when i try to unlock bootloder this message FAILED remote token verify failed

Hello, I explain what happened:
I did the forced installation of android P (i make free oem, flashing and flashing critical), installed correctly, but the phone is very slow I had many problems, I decided to go back to android 8.1, again (free the oem, flashing and flashing critical), I had blocked them after the installation of P), use mi flash to do a clean installation, install version 9.6.16, installed correctly now the PROBLEM is the following I have a security update for November, but my phone says to have installed that update then it is constantly downloaded and not installed, i did several hard reset to try to correct the error and it is not solved, and I want to unlock the bootloader again to realice a clean installation again and it tells me the following message FAILED remote token verify failed, try enter EDL MODE but only the phone is reset, does anyone know what to do?
1-Do a clean flash again with official miui factory image. Run flash_all_lock.bat or flash via MiFlash selecting flash all lock option.
https://en.miui.com/getrom.php?r=353&m=yes&app=false
2-Enable OEM unlock in developer settings.
3- Get the fastboot.exe (and Adb-Usb dll's) from the factory image folder. There some fastboot exes and adb dll's around there wich our A2 doesn't like (including adb-setup 1.4.3).
Try to unlock the bootloader now. There's no need for "fastboot oem unlock" (this command is deprecated), flashing unlock and unlock-critical is enough.
Good Luck

You can't flash with mi flash with a locked bootloader
Right. I get the things mixed up.
OK then try this.
1- Get this fastboot, it works flawlessly with Mi A2.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nv7zjmH_yV9I4nq6gY5a4A4gpjb6_uQQ/view?usp=drivesdk
2-Now lock de bootloader.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
If it works then just unlock as usual and you are done.
If it says device is already locked then reboot again to fastboot and proceed to unlock again directly, without locking. Omit "fastboot oem unlock", use flashing command.
PS. Please check if OEM bootloader unlock is enabled in dev settings.
