Hi all,
I have a problem with my Huawei P8 Lite 2017.
Yesterday I forced an update with 'Huawei Firmware Updater' app from Android: I had PRA-LX1C432B170 and B172 was installed.
At the beginning it said 'Your Device has failed verification and may not work properly', but it booted after manually pressing the Power Button.
Than, trying to fix this, I messed everything up and now the phone won't boot!
Can you please help me?
I have Unlocked Bootloader, FRP Unlocked and can easily access stock recovery and fastboot and flash everything, but nothing seems to work: I tried the 'Unbrick' function from 'Huawei Multi-Tool', but the file I flashed didn't work at all... even factory reset stucks at 99%!
Can I ask you what to do?
It's impossible to find anything for Dual SIM Unbranded phones, like mine! I just can't find the original update.zip of PRA-LX1C432B170 version.
I just want to make it work again!
Thanks for your support, and Happy New Year to you all!

You can use Firmware finder app on play store to get the ROM...then use Huawei update extractor to extract the system.img ,boot.img from update.app and flash them via fastboot commands and then do a factory reset.

I tried with the Windows version of Firmware Finder, but the version I'm trying to find (B170) is unavailable.
What can I do if I can't find that specific version? I have no ideas.

You can try system.img and boot.img from any build...but they have to be a full update not OTA updates

Flashed system.img and boot.img in this order, but it stucks on the page of unlocked phone (Booting Phone Now...), so I booted recovery and then I did a factory reset. Nothing happens but the Huawei logo showing up for a few seconds, then it reboots.

In this case I think you damaged the Vendor partition during the force update...you can't flash (product.img, version.img,cust.img and vendor.img) via fastboot commands...you either try to use dd commands to flash them...and it's a little bit risky or you find a TWRP backup from your build...or you can use DC Phoenix tool to unbrick your device

Thanks for the useful tips!
I don't know what product.img, version.img or cust.img are used for, but cust.img can be sent through fastboot (I think so because Multi-Tool let me choose it for fastboot flash in the 'Unbrick' section).
What I'm trying to do now is to download the same version I had before (B172 FULL-OTA MF) and I try to send it via fastboot.
Any other Ideas?
Can I Install TWRP and a Custom ROM or TWRP + Original ROM?
You can try to use TWRP and a custom ROM...but as far as I know all the custom ROMs for this device have bugs...but you are free to try them
Sent from my PRA-LA1 using Tapatalk
Can try this 3 methods...
- Flash via fastboot the stock recovery, boot and system from b182, factory reset in stock recovery and try to boot.
- Install twrp in recovery2 (eRecovery), search for the b182 backup and follow the steps to restore it.
- Pay to use Dc-Phoenix (near 15€) and flash with their app a full stock rom (the app help you to download a full rom)
Good luck!

Hi All!
Thanks for your tips.
I've followed this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/p8...uide-unbrick-huawei-p8-lite-2017-pra-t3713574
and now the phone boot and works, but I have some problems:
1. Firmware says P9 Lite 2017 (but it's correctly a PRA-LX1 firmware)
2. Patches are from June and I can't find any firmware update... I think I have an hybrid firmware, because I have both IMEIs but something (like Google Patches) are related to the firmware of the guide I followed.
I have one question to ask: I have an unlocked bootloader and I don't want to see the message at Phone Power-On, but if I Re-Lock the phone won't boot: I had to unlock the bootloader to make it working. What can I do?
Is it possible to find an official B182 firmware and flash it into my Phone? It maybe the best/clean solution for my phone.

You can download the full backup of b182 from this forum and try to restore with twrp or extract the boot, recovery and system imgs and try to flash with adb, sorry im not english and not understand all words.

Your English is very good and the link is very useful!
Thanks, this is what I was looking for!
The idea to extract the boot, recovery and system imgs is intelligent, but the ROM of that Link seems to be rooted, so maybe it won't work at all.
I'll give it a try and I'll report back if it works or not.
Thanks for the tips

If you can flash twrp in recovery2 you can restore the full backup following the steps in the another thread, if not, find another b182 backup no-rooted and try, but i think the restore method is the best option, good luck!

Hi @dannyzamora
Restore of my phone worked and now I have a full stock phone!
I wrote a guide in the other thread to help other people who have similar problems to try to fix their phone.
Your suggestion was very helpful and now I can use my phone as it was before (apart from a bug, the only one, related to MagazineUnlock that is not working at all... nothing that compromise the use of the phone, obviously).
Thanks

Hello all,
I've rooted my P8Lite L21 using the custom recovery method, flashed the supersu.zip, then restored the original recovery.
Yesterday I had an OTA and now phone reboot once during system boot, and at the second time it hangs during boot.
What can I do to recover this? I have stock recovery, and when I try to VOLDOWN+POWER it never goes to fastboot. (last time I had to use adb reboot-bootloader but now I can't reach system\adb..)
Can you help?
Thanks, cheers,

Hello,
You can boot to fastboot with this method:
Connect phone with PC then power off
Now push two buttons VOLDOWN+POWER+MicroUSB now you can install any stock ROM with fastboot commands and suitable *.img(boot.img, cust.img, system.img)
P.S
What OTA(number) arrive to you?

Worked like a charm Thanks a lot! I don't know the OTA number.. Still can't get into system :|
I'll try flashing TWRP from here and then i don't know which rom to use.. I'd like CM12 but i'm not sure its supported.
Can you suggest any stable ROM ?
Thanks

It's Portuguese\Europe, Single SIM.
I'm downloading "Huawei P8 Lite ALE-L21 V100R001C432B171 (Europe)". Is this flashable from fastboot? Yes, i'm unlocked. Does it need the hiSuite or fastboot.exe will suffice?

The other question i had is, how to flash this. Hisuite or fastboot.exe?
Thanks

Try this. Use Huawei update extractor in forum xda have link to it. Open the UPDATE.APP and extract the following files: Recovery.img, Boot.img, Cust.img, System.img
Then use fastboot commands to flash B171 ROM

Hi there,
I have a similar problem: bootloop!
I'm comming from B170 and installed 7 HD 1.2 ROM and got some errors, I thougt it would be an good to go the long way to B008 or better B010. After so searching I found: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64483642&postcount=43
- did not step 1 an under-pressed flashing recovery in step 2 and 3, thought I could yet use TWRP.
Obviously, that was the mistake.
At step 4 I recognized that I have to do step 1 to go on.
that worked an I copied the update.zip to internal card, initialised the update.
Not sure it got to 100% but think so.
Result bootloop, can't get to recovery, only fastboot
Tried to flash every thing: B052, B170, and 136a, even the boot.img and recovery.img of B010 and B008
no errors but still bootloop.
PLEASE HELP!!
is there a full version of B080 somewhere to flash by fastboot? or any options to flash the update.zip of B080 again?
All other proposals are welcome!

First 7 HD 1.2 ROM work only over the B010!!!
Second in this archive have the instructions to install Beta B008 why you not did everything described in the instructions?
Third when install stock firmware RECOVERY must be original not TWRP!!!
Now you must install stok recovery, make hard reset then install B052
After that you can install every stock firmware for your region! or follow the instruction to install B008=>B010=>7 HD 1.2 ROM

adb reboot recovery --- says: error: device '(null)' not found

adb -s W3D7XXXXXXXX reboot recovery ---- says error: device 'W3D7XXXXXXXX' not found
but ---- fastboot devices ----says at the same time: W3D7XXXXXXXX

Can you explain how you got it? I'm on VIE-L09C432B360 and I receive an update to B370 but when the download finishes, the phone restarts and when TWRP tries to install the update I got an error (which I can't read). My guess, the update fails because of TWRP. So I want to reinstall the stock recovery. Can you explain the steps you followed? Thanks in advance.

No problem! Haha, lucky timing, I was about to head to bed.
Anyways, you will need Android-SDK platform tools, Huawei Update Extractor, which you can download here, and the CURRENT firmware file of your device, which you can download using Huawei Firmware Finder here. Here's how you do it...
1. Find and download your firmware using Huawei Firmware Finder. Go to the common base tab and enter your CURRENT build number in the textbox labeled "Model for find". Under the "type" list, find the one that says "FullOTA" and click the link under the "Filelist". This opens a new window with a list of links. Open the link that ends with "update.zip". That will download your firmware.
2. Open the zip file and extract the file called "UPDATE.APP"
3. Open the Huawei Update Extractor, and drag and drop the "UPDATE.APP" on the window. You will see a list of files. Select and right click "RECOVERY.img", and click on "Extract Selected" and set your file destination. This is the recovery software.
4. Once it has finished extracting, simply flash it as you would with TWRP.
Hope this helps! Don't be afraid to ask if you need more help.

Yep! That's how you flash the recovery.
Thanks. I hope you had a nice sleep.
Anyway I did it via flashify, but what I get is eRecovery and I think it's not the same as stock recovery.
Sorry to bother you again, but options are not the same than stock recovery. In eRecovery you haven't options to wipe, only download new versions and reboot/shutdown. As I don't know if stock recovery has been properly installed, I don't dare to install the B370 update.

Hmm, obviously that's not right... Have you tried using ADB to reboot into your recovery? Try opening a command window and try typing in "adb reboot recovery". That's usually how you get into your recovery other than turning on your phone by holding both your volume up and power button until you see the recovery screen. If that doesn't work try flashing again using adb instead of Flashify.

Hi @mechasnyper
I'm on stock B360, rooted and twrp installed. I got an update of B380 and as described by others I was unable to update through twrp. I tried your method, downloaded B360 firmware through FIRMWARE FINDER, when I opened "UPDATE. APP" in update extractor, I got two images of recovery "RECOVERY.IMG" & "RECOVERY2.IMG". I extracted "RECOVERY.IMG" and flashed. Everything went fine recovery flashed successfully.
After that I started OTA update. It started flashing but it is giving me error when reaches at 5%. Kindly tell me what is wrong?
My variant is: VIE-L29C185

Problem is, I'm on B385 firmware and the last version available for download is B384. Does anyone know if it would be possible to extract the B384 recovery and flash that, or is that just a really bad idea?
I'd really rather not do a factory reset all for the sake of a Google security patch
After giving up last year I came back to try again and everything worked smoothly. Don't know why I had trouble the first time!
To anyone with a rooted device who wants to go back to receiving OTA updates, just follow mechasnyper's instructions and download the full firmware zip for your current OS version in Firmware Finder, extract and flash recovery.img, and hey presto.
Now to just sit and wait for the L29 Oreo update to arrive
My device: PRA-LX1 (Dual SIM version)
Got bricked. I was installing Google APPS on EMUI (Dumb) and it just kept on looping and restarting.
I decided to try the rescue zip and when I successfully restore it, it boots back to TWRP after I reboot to system.
My recoverys: TWRP (installed on recovery2) and Stock EMUI Recovery (installed on recovery)
Bootloader: Unlocked
Fastboot: Command not allowed
Thanks in advance for your reply.
Hello, is the FRP status on fastboot mode LOCKED or UNLOCKED
if it's UNLOCKED then you can unbrick it using fastboot to flash boot.img system.img and do a full wipe of your data partition.

I already booted, that's good news!
Now I've got a problem. The famous unbrick guide everyone uses - the firmware is buggy for me.
Fingerprint scanner doesn't work - camera doesn't work and audio doesn't work.
I think this is a problem with the firmware as they are more models of the PRA-LX1?
Btw, how do I find mine?
Thanks
My model is the Europe unlocked dual sim one

you have to use Huawei update extractor to extract system.img boot.img recovery and recovery2 then flash them with fastboot
PS: Make a backup before trying anything

thank you

in all tutorials that's all what they mentioned and you can't flash vendor.img from fastboot I've tried that but it returns (Command not allowed) I'm trying to convert vendor.img to flashable TWRP backup using Imgtool but I can't figure out how it works yet

I'm experiencing the same thing right now with my PRA-LA1 and the only way that I found to make it works is to install a TWRP recovery and root it. But I have a lot of bugs after that I've already created a thread for that if someone can help
[Help] Bugs after rooting PRA-LA1
Hi, I'm in a bad situation. My honor 9 lite (Europe) has no OS, frp lock. But it does have TWRP installed.
My question would be, since I can't flash an OS (given the frp lock) via fastboot, would it work via TWRP? Or should I just give up and buy a new phone?
Thanks a lot.
Best
Since you have TWRP, try using HURUpdater tool. It is compatible with H9L.

Hi,
thanks a lot for the tip. Unfortunately, I keep getting an error when flashing following the instructions.
I discovered that nonetheless I can flash roms with TWRP. There is one particular rom, this one https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-view-10/development/rom-t3753555 that works particularly.
However, my device with that rom keeps giving me an error "bluetooth keeps stopping". Any way to solve that?
I really don't know a solution.
Can't you enable OEM unlock in settings/developer options? so that to make frp unlocked?
Yes.
After that, I was able to finally flash stock rom
However, there's a new issue: wifi doesn't work. It actually seems like whatever rom I flash, wifi won't work the slider turns off as soon as I turn it on
Did you wipe data/factory reset through eRecovery after flashing? That is important in most cases!

No I did not. I think I used TWRP to do that. Will do with eRecovery next time and update you
I am still without WiFi.
I think the problem lies in the fact that my stock ROM comes from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/9-lite/how-to/guide-unbrick-device-recover-bootloop-t3772563
I had oreo 8.1 before brick, and the rim above that I flashed is 8.0 and Indian version (not european). That maybe could explain the issue.
Problem is, I would need a system.img stock ROM to file and I can't seems to find that. In Huawei firmware finder, I only get update.zip kind of files and TRWP returns error when flashing that or when I use the HuRUpdater tool.
Also, I've noticed it's not just the WiFi, but also security options and themes for some reason
you need a working frp image which in twrp can flashed via dd... so the frp lock is gone...
In telegram group you can find image.

The system.app file you search for is in the update.zip file you get and you cannot flash update.zip directly from twrp, you need HuRupdater for that and the dload method doesn't work for almost anyone including me.
And you need correct the firmware for your motherboard if you want your phone to work properly.
First tick oem unlocking in developer options. Then unlock fastboot and flash TWRP.
Since you are able to boot up check your varient, the complete one not just the LLD but the rest too. Search for it in Huawei firmware finder and download the latest firmware for your model. You'll get 3 links and you'll need all three.
Download HuRupdater 0.3 zip and then rename the 3 files you got as told in the HuRu instructions. get twrp image and rename it to recovery.img and put all files in the same folder. If you want to completely revert to stock you don't have to have recovery.img but keep it just in case.
Then flash HuRupdater using twrp. You should be up and running if you did everything right.
You can then remove the recovery.img and then flash again using HuRupdater and relock the fastboot too later if you wanna play things safe using fastboot relock bootloader 'your code' .
please help me, honor 9 lite last night my flash rom forgot the data format so now can not boot into the operating system, locked FRP, can not enter the TWRP.
Hello, I know it's been a long time. I put the issue aside for a few months as I had another phone to use in the meanwhile just wanted to let you know i Just did the procedure you described and it worked perfectly! The phone is back to life

I'd suggest HurUpdater: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...h-official-firmware-recovery-t3769279/page111
OTAs do work with an unlocked bootloader, but not with root or custom kernels.
Does this works with the P10? In the post i ddin´t found the P10.
And if it works, wich zip file i have to choose? And i have root
Thanks
Try my guide (Tutorial #2, Oreo to Oreo)
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
What also should work is flashing the system.img manually via fastboot.
For this extract the system.img from the correct firmware version with Huawei Update Extractor.
Connect your phone to your PC, boot into fastboot and flash with "fastboot flash system PATH\TO\SYSTEM.IMG".
After that do a factory reset with eRecovery (boot with Vol+ and connected USB).
Note for the next time: backup your system partition via TWRP before flashing the custom rom.
Also note that a factory reset is needed, without your phone won't boot, so backup your personal data before doing it.

Yes, it works on the P10. You can download the files with the firmware finder app. I'd recommend the newest oreo version for your customisation (e.g. B382 for C432).
But Jannomag's solution should work equally well.
Wich Jannomag´s thread?
Do you have the link, please?
Thanks

Possibly you renamed the wrong customisation file (i did it once for the 09 while I needed the 29).
Which one did you download? And did you flash manually or did you use my script?
Download my oeminfo, it's from VTR-L29C432 Version 8.0.0.380, while the version doesn't really matter.
Flash it via TWRP using "Install" and "Use Image". Flash it to oeminfo partition. Then do my update script again.
I followed the guide to do Oreo to Oreo - basically wanting to get from custom Rom (fRomFuture B370) back to stock, so I chose the same firmware version to extract. Flashed everything with the script and it went fine and it boots and works.. but
The resolution seems to be off, too low and the right side of the screen is unresponsive to touch (about 1cm )
EDIT- Rolled back to fRomFuture B370 for now - need to find a way to get back to stock, as want to move on to Openkirin ROM instead
HI, i have a vtr-l29 root, i want to unroot(version oreo), how do i do it? what do i need to flash?. thank you Alex
