Poor bluetooth behaviour / do jeans cause interference? - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Now the warmer days are coming I am once again walking to work and notice some unusual bluetooth behaviour.
If I walk with P9 in my front jeans pocket there is a very bad connection and breaking up of the signal sometimes it it is 10 second breaks in the music.
If I hold the phone in my hand when I walk which is a greater distance away from the headphones the signal is improved and solid.
If I put the phone in my laptop bag at approximate same distance the connection is also improved and rock solid.
So please can anyone help me to understand this weirdness, I never experienced such an issue before.
If I experiment at home of in the gym or office leaving my phone somewhere stationary the connection is awesome for quite a long distance so I am bamboozled.

My Tracks Accuracy

For those who doesn't know "My Tracks" allows you to create tracks with the GPS, showing various info - average speed, average moving speed, height differences, etc.
In the last several weeks I found it useful to track my snowboarding sessions - where I am riding, how fast, etc. The problem is that there is some really strange problem - in 8 out of 10 cases after I start recording a new track it turns out I have a top speed of 460km/h. I ride really fast, yeah, but that fast?
I was wondering what could be the case? For obvious reasons I can't observe the program while riding - one fall and the phone is gone
When I am on the lift I can observe it and everything is normal. I had the suspicion that falls could cause this, but today I had several quiet bad falls, during one recording and yet i t was accurate.
Has anyone observed such behavior?
Try CardioTrainer, I like it better then MyTracks

Rattle from the slider wheels? Fix it.

I had not had the tiny rattling sound that comes from the rolling wheels under the slider until today, after I dropped my X1 for the first time. But, after reading around and finding the source of the rattle - the tiny metal wheels under the front of the device - I was able to stop the noise. (not to mention being relieved it wasn't something more serious)
The noise is the light rattle coming mostly from the top end of the front as well as the bottom, louder at the top. It sounds almost like a loose screw and makes noise even just from turning the phone upside down, more high-pitched than the other possible noises. Testable by putting pressure on the front of the device, just to the left of the light sensor. if you push down and shake the noise disappears. The source is the little roller wheels under the slider.
This noise is not the optical joystick and not the camera rattle. The joystick rattle can be detected by holding your thumb with a slight bit of pressure over the optical joystick and gently shaking, if that noise goes away, this will not fix it. If the sound is more of a quiet clunking sound that only happens with a jolting shake, the source is the autofocus of the camera and will not be fixed by this.
How I stopped the noise:
I fixed this by cutting thin slices of clear tape, about 1 mm wide and 3 mm long and placed them flat on the metal of the keyboard, then closed the phone. I slid some paper in the gap to make a cushion and applied pressure to the front face to push the tape up onto the wheels more firmly. No more noise.
To make the fix invisible, use a second strip of tape to hold the edge of the tape that will remain so you can position it far enough inside it cannot be seen and then remove the second strip.
Credit to qpwoeipt's post that got me to this idea: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3171129&postcount=11. There are photos in that post that will illustrate the location of the wheels, plus you can see them if you look in the gap above the keyboard.
Cool tutorial there dude!!!
Seem a bit excessive though for something i never notice or get bothered by
Still cool idea!

The noise I was suddenly hearing was quite loud and happened with the slightest movement, very much like a small loose screw moving around. Since it happened only after dropping the phone (for the first and hopefully last time), I really wanted it eliminated.

GPS and COMPASS issues

Hi, I have a very bad GPS accuracy. It is worse when I am in the car or bus, then accuracy is twice worse. My track looks like a zigzak even when I am going just straight. My other and older phone do it much better. Is there any antenna issue or this gps is just sh*t?
Also the compass is decalibrated all the time. On google maps it shows just wide spectrum instead of narrow field like my old phone, so almost 180 degree spread. Also not very accurate. For car nav it is ok accuracy, not jumps much, but when walking or recording a trace it is a big problem and for example for running app it will add distance and when sum it up it will be significant. Is my unit just bad or what? Can it be improved? It is hardware or software related thing?
When I am on other phone, the accuracy once dialed in it will stay like this, here it is fluctuating from good to worse and even sometimes very bad (like 100m).
You're not alone. I'm experiencing poor gps accuracy as well, but it's hard to tell whether it's software or hardware related.
I barely get less than 10m of accuracy when I test the gps using the "gps test" app, with clear view of the sky, with 15~ satellites in use.
Same here
Actually GPS and Compass are pretty accurate compared to my Nexus 6. check out screenshot, it was taken at my living room in a 2 story house, weather condition is cloudy and slight rain.
And what happens outside? Does it manage to retain high accuracy (up to 5 meters/16 feet)?
I'm getting quick fixes, high accuracy (15'), but apps like locus and ingress are very drifty. It's weird.

Question Proximity sensor problem

My phone is acting wired from two weeks ago. The Display is getting automatically off without even I'm going near to Ear. To WhatsApp Audio messages also when start to listen the auto the screen is getting off. I tried maximum possible to clean the phones upper part but still same. Please anyone help me how to fix this issue.
Sorry for my Bad English.
Thank You..
same with me. i couldn't solve the problem
I'm sharing this exact same issue when listening to WhatsApp Audio Messages.
I think it appears to happend more often under dim light conditions, but also when the sun is shining and I'm outside.
To me it seemed always help to hold the phone straight, rather than rotated a little bit.

How To Guide Virtual proximity sensor - potential fix

Dear all,
I had problems with my Note 10 virtual proximity sensor over the last months and it went worse from day to day.
Reading details in how the sensor works, I tried to figure out what might cause it not working properly.
The sensor seems to use the top ear phone speaker to broadcast ultrasonic sound and detecting whether it reflects.
So this lead me to the assumption, that a dirty speaker might cause trouble.
Now that speaker is so small that cleaning it is difficult.
This is what I tried:
I took a very small needle and rubbed it from left to right and back and forth on that speaker. I tried to get off as much dirt and dust as possible from it very small holes.
Difficult approach, but you might try that a well. A needle, some cleaning liquid, something to blue away that dust.
After I tried I first noticeably that the ear phone speaker was much louder again and testing with a WhatsApp voice message and with the CIA test menu, the sensor reacted much much better.
I'll give it some more days of testing but wanted to share those thoughts with you!
Let me know if you also have success
Best regards,
Christian
is there any fixed or module?
Promoting my app that blocks screen during phone calls.
It will help to minimize effects from non-reliable ultrasonic proximity sensor.
So even if screen suddenly turns on you'll not press something by ear or cheek.
