Hi
I took the plunge and decided to root my Note 5, I have got as far as installing recovery and can get into recovery but cannot reboot into android and TWRP is saying the phone storages are not there.
The phone appears to be stuck in a bootloop. I can still get to download mode and into recovery but cannot access the internal storage.
I think I should of performed a factory reset/cleared caches before flashing TWRP but didn't perform this step. I did enable oem unlock before starting to root.
I'm having trouble finding out if I can recover my phone, And a lot of the info seems to be hard to find.
At the moment I'm trying smart switch, any more information is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Use Samsung Smart Switch .... you have to fill in your note model then serial number ... dont forget your pc must have internet connection ... after smart switch find out compatible firmware on the internet for your model , then connect your note5 to smart switch (in download mode)

Hi, first time post here. I have an unrooted Samsung Note 5 Verizon, I have been using Package Disabler Pro app to disable unwanted bloatware for months. The other morning I put the phone into ultra-power saving mode (for first time since PD Pro install) and it locked up phone. Upon reboots, it loads until the red Verizon screen and go on further. I did not have the phone in USB debugging mode (checked) before it locked. It is not recognized by my windows pc as a drive when connected by usb. (a Samsung device does show in the device manger under USB when connected). Phone is running Android 6.0. and i can get to the recovery menu. Is there any way I can still safely recover my data, before I have to resort to a hard reset which will destroy data?
I have also used odin to reflash stock image, and it still hangs on verizon red screen after flash.
Thank you for any advice provided.

When you use odin to flash stock image, have you tried booting into recovery and then wiping data? I know I had to do this on all my devices when I flash either using odin or fastboot.
Hi, I am trying to save the data before wiping the device first. I would like to access my data and save it before wiping system. That where I am stuck.

Well, unfortunatly, you are out of luck. If you were for example stuck in a bootloop because of flashing supersu binary, you can flash the old one and be back up and running, but, when you flash stock ROM you are out of luck...
If I have to go the hard reset route is there any software out there to try to recover some of my data files and images/videos after the reset?

I know you can recover dead hard drives and SSDs so I guess it is the same way, the only problem is that whatever caused your brick might still be there when you restore and if you have encrypted your device (which most, non-rooted phones are) you are out of luck.
This is my first post and I'm in need of some help that I can't seem to find anywhere when searching the internet. I'm not a developer nor am I close lol I just have tons of fun learning the development process - it's seriously one of my favorite things to do. Anyways I've messed up royally with my Galaxy Note 5 N910P and I'm stumped on what I should do next! So here's the issue: My Note 5 will not stop boot looping!!! I've flashed stock, almost every version that I'm able to and nothing has worked. The last thing I remember doing before it started this b.s is rooting with CF Auto root. I've always used twrp then flashed Supersu and the dm verity and never had issue! But after flashing the CF Auto root I kept getting kernel is not seandroid enforcing and then the dreadful boot loop issue that has been going on for three days now! Is there something i'm missing? or not doing right? Please message me and let me know, and if this is the wrong place to post about this, I dont mind if my post is taken down just at least help with my question some how! Thank you, XDA is my favorite place - you guys are awesome, I don't trust any other source!!!

First of all you have entered wrong model no here note 5 model no should be SM-N920xx
1)Have you enabled Oem unlocking from developers option before flashing twrp and cf-autoroot using odin? If not then you done a mistake!!
2) Have you tried to flash latest stock firmware using odin with latest usb drivers installed on you pc and proper odin flashing guide?(Flash latest 6.0.1 for your device with latest usb drivers installed on pc and connect phone to main usb port using original usb cable) After flashing stock rom if your facing bootloop then you can try reset through stock recovery (Press volume down+power button to switch off your phone..When screen shuts off immediately press volume up+power+home key simultaneously untill you see Samsung galaxy note 5 logo, release keys..You are now in stock recovery from there choose wipe data/factory reset..After reset complete reboot your device)
3)If you can boot into twrp recovery normally then flash any custom rom suitable for your device i.e. for sm-n920p..Custom roms are pre-rooted so no need to flash cf-autoroot..Flash custom rom, if you successfully boot up the rom( It's difficult to boot custom rom though if you haven't enabled oem unlocking you will face custom binary is blocked by frp protection),then enable oem unlocking from developers option and try flashing stock rom again
4) Next option for you is download Samsung smart switch for pc, install latest usb drivers on your pc, connect your phone to pc in download mode(Press volume down+power+home button simultaneously),in smartswitch select emergency software recovery, it will ask you imei, model no and serial no which you can find either on box or back panel of your phone, smartswitch will detect latest stock firmware for your device, hit update now, give some time until update complete..Your device will be automatically reboot..If even you face bootlopp, then goto stock recovery(Press volume down+power button to switch off your phone..When screen shuts off immediately press volume up+power+home key simultaneously untill you see Samsung galaxy note 5 logo, release keys..You are now in stock recovery from there choose wipe data/factory reset..After reset complete reboot your device)
**IF SUGGESTION IN SECOND POST HELPS YOU THEN ITS DONE, AVOID NEXT SUGGESTIONS**
Are you sure you can't install cf auto root again to solve it? IF not...
I did a search and got hits for twrp for N910P. Get it loaded, get it wiped and have another shot at success. Next way to get rid of the persistent rooter gone rogue, load up a factory BL + AP. If that doesn't work download another version and try again.
I've enabled OEM unlocking, flashed latest stock AP...BL.. And so on, factory reset in both factory and TWRP. I have also tried flashing CF Auto root again to see if that would fix it also custom ROMs bootloop except for CM13 and Lineage OS- Which is weird because the ROMs are for the SM N920C model and I'm and Sprint model, So I don't understand that. Weird!! Everything recognizes me as SM N920C except when I am in download mode. Also, having no imei or any back ups make its even harder since my computer completely crashed on me because I am unable to use Samsung smart switch due to the wrong model and null imei. So I'm completely stumped with this issue. Not sure if its a corrupted partition or folders not being in the correct folder locations along with wrong permissions, I've literally stressed everything to my knowledge about this and I'm all out of what issues this could be related to
Hi all,
IT has been so long since I have flashed a rom, so I have forget how to troubleshoot. This phone I mainly use for apps and stuff and it definitely is rooted, as I still have the Odin download mode come up when I press home, power and volume down button. I was having slowness and difficulty for a bit, and some apps would tell me, I can't install them as I don't have the right version etc. Anyway, I uninstalled some of the android updates and all I kept getting was annoying pops up and slowness. I then decided to just do a factory reset, hoping it would wipe everything clean and return to stock. It now is stuck on the SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE GT-N7000 screen. I have tried all the tricks to get it to boot and nothing. It is stuck.
How do i bypass this, can it be done using Odin on my Mac? I am lost
Thanks for any help in advanced guys...:good::good::good:
When u are on mac, u have to use heimdall which is MUCH more complicated and nothing for beginners.
Use bootcamp to install windows and then download a firmware (e.g from updato) and boot into download mode.
Use Home+Power+Volume Up to get to the recovery mode.
Get your favourite rom on an SD card, downloaded from the PC.
Assuming that you have Philz or TWRP, flash it and it should work.
And if i dont have Philz or TWRP ?... (T_T)
You done the factory reset form the phone menu or the recovery?
Dear All Respected Professionals,
My Samsung Note 8 SM-N950F Android 8.0 stopped booting all of a sudden. No software update, no modification, nothing. It was working perfectly, I restarted phone and it won't start again.
When I try to boot it stays stuck at boot logo (SAMSUNG logo) for around 5 minutes and then automatically restarts. It gets quite hot.
I can access via ADB while it stays in bootloop. I exported logcat. I'll upload if it may help.
I have around 2.2 GB free out of 64 GB internal storage.
Never rooted.
However, it seems like Internal Storage doesn't get mounted. I can’t access /sdcard or /storage/emulated/0
As much as I remember, I had "Allow OEM Unlock" enabled. I tried to flash TWRP via Odin in Download mode, but it fails.
I'm looking to
1. Revert phone to working state without formatting
2. If 1 is not possible, I want to at least make complete backup, something like nandroid to backup WhatsApp data and other stuff.
Note: I want to recover data from my phone. It has lots of important data. I don't want to simply format it.
Device: Samsung Note 8 SM-N950F
ROM: Stock Android 8.0
Never rooted
I can boot into Recover and Download mode.
This is my first post here. If any more details are needed please ask and I'll provide.
Kind people here please help me fix my only daily driver???

Trying following below steps..
1. First try to force restart device by pressing Volume down + Power key for 7 to 10 sec. It will fix system crash issues
2. Go to recovery mode and try to wife cache partition, ONLY WIPE CACHE PARTITION. DO NOT WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET.
3. Try to boot device in safe mode, Press and hold volume down + power button, When you see Samsung then release Power button but keep holding volume down button until home screen.
Let me know results...
im having similar problems,
any results?
I have as S5 Active model G870W not a 900 as mostly specified in the forums here it's a G870W and I want to install the right TWRP file in it in order to update it to a 9.0 Pie. Right now it's got 6.0. I was able to root it I've got developer mode and usb debugging checked. As far as root is concern everything is fine I've got Super Su. When I started in Recovery mode it shows the information of the phone and I have the option of rebooting the system, reboot to bootloader, apply update from ADB, Apply update from sd card, Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe cache partition, Mount/System, View recovery logs and Power off.
I wish I could add a picture to my post it would be easier. My problem is first of all I'm not sure which TWRP file I can install in it my phone is not a 900 and all the files I found were for 900, and how do I install the file in the phone with Odin?
I tried a few files and when I put in recovery mode vol up + home + on/off button I can't open it in TWRP it jams in some boot loader Odin message I can't remember exactly, than I have to reinstall the original files again and reroot it again now I'm at that point.
Once the right TWRP is installed in the phone than I can think of upgrading to version Pie. I do NOT have the OEM button as suggested everywhere.
This is really getting on my nerves I've looked everywhere I don't know how many times I've installed the original files reroot it over and over but so far I haven't brick it and I'm good at rooting this model. It's not under warranty anymore I have an S8 that I use as my regular phone but I wish I could make a real beast of this S5 because it's a good solid phone and I'm sure with the right files and patience I can make it as good as my S8 but I do need some guidance because everything I found about this phone all pertain to either the 900 model or all mention the OEM button which I don't have on this model.
It's an unlock Canadian Telus phone and this is the first time writing a thread about my phone on this site like a said I read and looked everywhere and tried a lot of stuff
