ATT Tilt Unlock

I am going to be out of the country for vacation in Asia a few weeks. I remember that someone wrote here that it's possible to call ATT and have them send me an unlock code? Or should I go through the Kaiser Unlock tool in the wiki? I'm currently running one of Duffy's WM6.1 ROMS but I can obviously reflash if necessary.
unlocking
the easiest way to go is calling AT&T, although you might run into a problem like i had where the code they sent me did not work, i even asked for a second time and they sent me the same code again, and said there was nothing more they could do,i called htc and they told me they could not help either, so i used the unlocking system posted in these forums, which was not too hard except i guess i have a " radio from hell" because i had to do some researching i kept getting a white screen when doing the hard spl, anywho if you can get a correct code from AT&T i think that's the better route, i just told them i was traveling outside the country and with in 24 hours i was sent the code via email, my brother got his code in 5 min right over the phone!! i guess it's just who you talk to that makes all the difference.

[Q] Help me pls ! can't find code...

Hi Ya
Pls help me looking everywhere desperately for an unlock code for my G1
My uncle bought me a G1 in England and i live in Greece..... So i really need an unlock code....
If someone could help me giving me my unlock code i would be very very happy.
BTW i will PM my IMEI to the one who can find it for me...
Or if nobody can find anything can someone tell me when the will be a program coming out to unlock the G1 like they did for the Iphone ....
Hello there,
This isn't the answer you're probably looking for, but you'd need to get back in contact with T-Mobile UK. As they will be the only ones that hold the unlocking code for you. Root'ing will not be able to unlock you're phone so there is no program for this. Not to sure how much unlocking codes cost from t-mobile, there is no information on the website. You could try and call +44 79539 66 150 which is the roaming number (it'll put you to the front of the queue and you can ask an agent there)
Hope this helps!
Hi again
Thanx a lot for trying to help me. I will phone them monday at 12 o'clock (greek time) ....

Not to sure what the time difference is, we're BST at the mo so thats GMT+1. Opening hours are 8am till 9pm.
Hope they can provide you with your code!
Ye ok thanx ...
Any ideas what i should say ???
I phoned T-mobile US and they say with out a T-mobile account number i can't do anything... Is that true ???
I really want to try my G1
T-mobile is not necessary, it's just the free way if you are already with t-mobile. There are several 3rd party websites which can aquire an unlock code for you. Most guarentee you a code almost instantly, my understanding is htc charges them $10 and they in turn charge you $20, thereby earning $10 for a simple email/money transfer to htc. Afaik some company needs to contact htc for you, I don't think you can deal directly with htc tho that would be nice. Unfortunately I can't really recommend anyone to go thru as I've done all my unlocking thru t-mobile.
Edit: also if you know someone with t-mobile every 90 days t-mobile will unlock a phone for them. The phone doesn't have to be registered to their account just tied to t-mobile. As a matter of fact to actually unlock the dream you must put in a non-tmo sim. Your 'friend' may need to tell t-mo they intend to leave the country or something, your friend may also require a few bux for the trouble lol
Yeah usually just stating that you plan to use the mobile abroad is sufficient enough for them to hand over the code. If not then keep pressing for it and hopefully they will get a manager or someone higher to deal with the issue. The joys of support
I know in the UK certain vendors (Vodafone) offer all of their phones unlocked to begin with but I don't know what it's like in the states.
Hi guys
This morning i phoned T-mobile uk with NPerry number. LOL it was funny i waited like 10 min. Then someone finally answered but he couldn't hear what i was saying (i was on skype) so i lost 2 euros calling and i didn't have what i wanted....
So i decided to buy an unlock code. So pls tell me which site is the best and most secure ???? www.htccode.com ? (looks like it doesn't word anymore it says "This Account Has Been Suspended" ow well) what else http://www.modmygphone.com/ ???
pls anwer
And BTW thanx for the others that answered me before

[Q] G1 SIM unlocking

I have my old G1 sitting around having no use since I have had my Desire HD for a while now. I want to give my G1 to a friend that recently busted his phone. My G1 is rooted and running a custom ROM and I can comfirm as of this very instance I have su access in Terminal Emulator right now. So whats the issue?
My friend is on O2's network and obviously the G1 is stuck on T-Mobile, I believe I was told that when you root an Android phone it becomes unlocked but when we put his SIM in it asks for the unlock code.
I dont fancy paying for an unlock code since I'm giving the phone away. My Desire HD which is rooted excepts his O2 SIM despite being locked to T-Mobile due to it being rooted etc. So why wont my G1? What methods should I undertake to fix this?
I take it the lack of response means I'm buggered and I cant do it without like throwing my phone at a wall?
I think the lack of responses is because these phones are so old there isnt much traffic on this forum. I wish I could help you but I cant get my recently aquirred G1 to function past the signup screen. I am just chatting with myself on the thread I started.

Shame, I figured the G1 is pretty much dead, I have been using my Desire HD for so long, the support on the forum is great for it, I wish for the same with the ol' G1 but it ain't so.
I unlocked my subsidy lock today. Just call tmo and ask for the unlock code. The phone is so old now that they shouldn't hassle you. It did take a day for them to reply but they did it.
sent from XDA app using darky 9.5
i bought an unlock key off ebay for 6.2$
i've recently bought my G1 on amazon.seller mistakly snet the sim locked version.
so i started to research and found that ther is a good idea FREE o obtain unlock code.it is said that T-mobile gives you unlock PIN code for free if you've been active account for at least 90 days.so contact them and they'll give you the code

Sprint MSL

So there a ton of articles/posts about acquiring one's MSL via logcat, app, calling sprint, etc. Well I have tried the logcat and can report back 0% success . I am also being stonewalled by Sprint because we a have a two year plan and its a "security" restriction on those type of plans.
Any other way to ninja the MSL? I am in an area where all LTE bands are available, however there are a few disabled by default currently :crying:
Have you tried doing an online chat with sprint and asking them for it?
I am not currently with Sprint, but when I was, I tried various methods to get my MSL, but none of them worked. Eventually, I saw where some people were having luck just asking for it in the online support. Some people reported that it took a couple tries to get the right person to help them, but it worked for me in the first try. Just be polite when asking for it.

Yeah I did just ask them, but it is "locked" for "my" security so I don't unlock the phone and go to another provider apparently. Its because I'm on the traditional 2 year plan with subsidized phones. Turns out despite the marketing its cheaper over two years than the installment (full price) phones.
Hmm, I'll try that out. I read a write up someone did in a little social engineering for it, might try that too and report back if someone else has this issue.

You know the phone is unlocked regardless right? Msl has nothing to do with that. And just tell them that your data isn't working and you tried to do a data reset and it asked for a Msl code, easiest way to get it, but next time, if you activate your phone online, it gives you the code, start writing it down, never know when you'll need it

Carrier Locked? Sim Locked? UICC Locked? What state is my phone in?

I bought an SM-N960U used off of letgo about a month ago now and I have been trying to get it to work for me but I am still having a few issues.
The guy I bought it from, who himself bought it used, was using it on T-Mobile and I am able to make and receive calls okay and get internet okay with Verizon. The phone was originally a Sprint phone. It continuously gave me "Activation was Unsuccessful" fullscreen messages repeatedly until I used adb to disable com.sec.omadmspr and com.sprint.ms.smf.services.
When swapping SIMS from different carriers the phone DOES NOT ask for an UNLOCK code.
When I first got the phone I tried to call Sprint and ask if the phone was Carrier locked thinking that if there was a small amount owed or something perhaps I could pay it and UN-Carrier Lock the phone... Well, that didn't go well. Since I wasn't on the account and couldn't provide the name or phone number of the old owner they wouldn't tell me if there was OR wasn't a carrier lock on the phone. Eventually I got them to take the IMEI but they still told me nothing.
So, I've been using the phone daily for about a month now, but because of it's problems (the app that won't run) I still have to carry my old phone as well. This phone is always on Roam. One time when trying to fix it I dialed the *228 PRL update number. That was a mistake. It broke my internet to the point where NO ONE was able to fix it. I went to a Verizon stone. No help. I called customer service. No help. They transferred me to Tech Support.... finally they had me swap in one of my older SIM cards and they programmed that one to work.
TLDR; The phone works with VZW voice and data, but is always on roaming, some apps refuse to work properly, under UICC Unlock the phone says it is locked to Sprint Sims and sometimes the data connection drops and it says it doesn't work because of "Data Roaming" being disabled.
What version of locked is my phone? Is it safe to start flashing it?

you probably has nothing to do with your problem but it may be of some help if you contact the guy mentioned in this thread for the LG V20, it's a guy that works for sprint and you can contact him on the Sprint Users forums ..
He may be able to help you with the sim unlocking of your phone, there's nothing to lose I think!
give it a shot ... look at this thread and then register for an account on the Sprint Forums and look for the guy..

You need to contact the person who sold you the device and ask them for assistance. As they may need to contact Sprint to activate the device and unlock it for you.

Thanks, but the guy I bought it from bought it used, so he wont have any Sprint account info, so then I'd have to try to track down the person he bought it from... and on and on and I dont know how long or fruitful the search would be... and again... I'm on the phone right now, on Verizon with a Verizon SIM. I dont think its carrier locked... but then I dont know what's going on.

They don't want to make it easy for people to re-purpose stolen phones. There are things a legitimate owner can do in order to make a phone ready for re-sale, and it sounds like these things didn't happen for the phone you bought. It all sounds a bit fishy, doesn't it?

Thanks, but if I thought "it sounds a bit fishy" I probably wouldn't have bought the used phone in the first place... and I certainly wouldn't have called Sprint and given them the IMEI and asked them; the people that could render my phone a useless brick, with one tiny bit of information, for help. Each smart phone I've bought in the last few years has been used because frankly to me it seems to be the best way to buy them financially. $1000 the day they come out or $200 - $300 6 - 12 months later used.

Point is, when someone is about to buy a used phone from a stranger, make sure it is factory reset and then immediately call the carrier and confirm the IMEI is clean and that it has been carrier unlocked, else, don't buy it. Obviously it's not advice for you, since you already did it the wrong way. This is a good lesson for posterity.
