Can't uninstall system apps; Can't restore DocumentProvider - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

I'm running OOS 4.1.1 with Magisk. My problem is that since Magisk is systemless, I can't use TBP to uninstall system apps, only freeze them. So I went in TWRP and deleted apps out of system/apps and mistakely deleted DocumentProvider. 1) how do I uninstall system apps the right way (granting TBP system access), and 2) how do I restore DocumentProvider? Thanks.

Are you on Magisk v11.5 or newer? Because the issue where Titanium Backup couldn't mount system rw has been fixed since then... I just tested it on my Nexus 6 and I can delete system apps just fine with TiBu (Magisk v12).
On my OP3T I debloat apps systemlessly with a Magisk Module. After all, it's a systemless mask, why start messing with the system by deleting stuff?
Easiest way to get the DocumentProvider back would be to dirty flash the ROM.

I am on a clean install of android 7.0 for the galaxy s7 exynos. Flashed twrp, then Magisk v12. Magisk manager shows I'm rooted correctly and granted super user access through MagiskSU and passing safety net. Used root checker to verify root and passed. Installed Titanium Backup Pro to uninstall a few system apps like one drive Facebook and Instagram but even after trying multiple methods of removing them with restarts and cache wipes I am unable to remove apps. Also tried ES File Explorer with root explorer enabled- unable to uninstall apps through that app list as well.
Had no issues with a previous identical clean flash using SuperSU 2.79 and titanium- what am I doing wrong?
Would greatly appreciate the help. Thankyou

Issue with SuperSU app - prompt mode

hi,
I rooted my Yotaphone 2 (MM 6.0.1) with SuperSU (2.79 SR3, systemless mode) from TWRP.
If I set SuperSU app in mode "grant", everything works correctly, all apps receive root permission (root explorer, root checker, etc..).
But if I set SuperSU app in mode "prompt", no prompt appears and the application requiring root access hangs waiting or says that there is no root; and the list of apps on SuperSU remains empty.
What I already tried without success:
re-install SuperSU from scratch (using the options for clean / reinstall in the application)
reinstall SuperSU (using UnSU.zip to clean current installation from TWRP)
clean Delvik/Cache
install SuperSU 2.79 stable
convert SuperSU app to system app
use other apps to control root
try SuperSU 2.79 System mode
In all cases I still have the same issue (except with SuperSU System mode, in which case I have bootloop).
Do you have any clue on how to solve the issue?
I'd be interested to know what might be causing that. That happened when we root our Samsung Galaxy S7 (G930P) phone. But there have been scripts out for tweaks and such and along the way SuperSU will start promoting. But would love to know what would cause the prompts to not appear.
I thought it was just our phones trying to get root the weird way we have to do it. Interesting to know others are running into the same sort of glitch (?) On other hardware.

Magisk vs Banking Apps

Hi All,
I am experiencing issues with certain banking apps.
Starling Bank
and
Barclays
These two will not run however other banking apps do.
I have Magisk 17.1 running perfectly with Magisk hide turned on for those apps and changed the package name of Magisk manager and even tried uninstalling the manager as a test.
CTS Profile and SafteyNet are both passed and eveything else is working for all other apps.
Has anybody else had experience with these 2 apps ?
Im thinking maby they are detecting certain root applications but i have no idea how to find out which one i should try to uninstall.
Any help/advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tried Magisk hide?
Edit: Never mind, didn't read that part. Try uninstalling Magisk completely.
Edit 1: Did you try clearing the app's data after hiding? The apps "remember" that the device is rooted.
I had tried uninstalling magisk using the uninstaller zip so i was completely unrooted and still didnt work that was also after clearing the app data and i ahve also tried uninstalling the apps then reinstalling them, because of this i think they have some root apps detection for example maby if titanium backup is installed it wont run. The problem is how do i know which apps its checking for i have lots of apps on my phone 500+ and to go through all root ones will take me ages. is there an easy way to find out ?
There is a thread here i have just found about this issue:
https://community.starlingbank.com/t/incorrect-android-root-detection/5068/246
even unrooted phones are being detected as rooted and its working for some with Magisk but not for others.
How do i go about getting the apps list that it detects as "unsafe"
Barclays vs Magisk
I have the same problem, magisk v17. 2, safetynet passes, but i cannot run absa bank (part of barclays). Anyone with a solution please?
Did you disable USB debug?
I've got them both running only with v16. On v17.1 or v17.2 only Barclycard.

Magisk not giving full root access

Alright, so I just rooted my SM-T380 by flashing the latest Magisk with TWRP but many root apps (like ES File Explorer) are saying I don't have root access when I permanently granted them root permissions with Magisk... Also Root Checker Basic says root access is properly installed on my device. I've also tried uninstalling Magisk then reinstalling it but no results. My SM-T380 is currently on Android version 8.1.
What's going on here? And how could I fix this? I'm stumped here...
And could it possibly be SELinux causing some root apps not to work even though I granted them root permissions? (I don't know enough about SELinux to know if this is the main cause of this problem)
Take a look at this imgur album: imgur.com/a/zSJGQTa
(The imgur album shows you that root apps aren't working even though they have root permissions)

No Magisk prompt when using SU apps

Hey!
I've successfully rooted my S10 (3rd time in a row) with Magisk. I've installed my daily apps, including Greenify, AFWall, AdAway etc. They all were prompting for SU access, and it went fine.
I had to reboot my phone. Since reboot, no app is asking for SU access. Apps that were granted SU access before reboot are working fine in Root mode, yet I can't SU any more apps.
Magisk Logs are fine, no errors, no crashing. I don't want to factory reset once again...
My Magisk modules: Busybox, Energized Protection.
What i've tried:
Updating Magisk to stable / beta
Running Magisk in safe mode
Hiding and restoring Magisk Manager app
Changing any option in Magisk Manager
Removing all modules
Using Magisk hide / disabling Magisk hide
Removing Magisk from battery optimisation mode
Everything else that I could find online...
I have no idea what to do now...
I can't grant SU to any other app...

Stuck after update

Device: SM-N950F
Android version: 9
Magisk version name: com.topjohnwu.magisk
Magisk version code: 22,1 (22100)
Well I believe this is an alien thing going on.
Magisk was working fine.
I just had a notification to update Magisk in the notifications bar.
I simply accepted, something showed downloading and then nothing happened.
So I just then went to check Magisk. I opened it and I chose to install latest 22.1 (22100) (20) App.
Well it downloads, I install it succesfully but then Magisk manager (already hidden and renamed) doesn't open.
It just shows a message "Magisk Manager: Upgrade to full Magisk Manager to finish the setup. Download and install?" I press OK , it downloads for some seconds something and then it shows a toast message "Please manually re-launch the app".
I re-launch Magisk Manager and get again "Magisk Manager: Upgrade to full Magisk Manager to finish the setup. Download and install?"...
A continuous loop in other words with no successful outcome.
Now:
Some apps that require root still work
A banking app is still working, another sees rooted and stops
Rootchecker app shows "root access is not properly installed"
Root check app shows "rooted"
In other words a big fat mess!
I strongly fear that If I reboot the device I will lose all remaning root capabilities. Correct???
I think of flashing with TWRP "Magick 22.zip" but then this may mean fresh rooting and ALL data will be lost. Correct???
Thank you all in advance, God bless you!
No reply! Smells bad!!
Can you uninstall magisk?
Then try to use TWRP to install Magick 22.zip

I can uninstall only through Titanium Backup since Magisk Manager isn't working.
I also wonder if I will lose data after uninstalling and flashing Magisk 22.zip

You should always backup your data before doing anything.

I know that it is always safe to backup data but I also know how time consuming is to bring phone to earlier state...

that's not official Magisk website the only official is the github page https://www.xda-developers.com/psa-magiskmanager-com-not-official-website-magisk/
Today I will restart device.
Fingers crossed (nandroid backup + all data of SD card to PC + TitaniumBackup)!
I restarted it today.
It loaded OK and some banking app that was seeing root now just works fine.
Magisk Manager still doesn't open and I am worried to flash Magisk22.zip because I may lose data and can't handle the hassle to restore all settings etc.
Very weird situation.
