[Q] update for Tablet Latest firmware version - PDA:JJ7 / PHONE:JK5 / CSC:JJ5 ( CPW )

Hi everyone...
what is the update on KIES likely to be called?
I can see on KIES
Current firmware version - PDA:JJ3 / PHONE:JID / CSC:JJ3 ( CPW )
Latest firmware version - PDA:JJ7 / PHONE:JK5 / CSC:JJ5 ( CPW )
I am not sure why it shows ( CPW ) and get the feeling it is not the Gingerbread update.
Any advice much welcomed!
Ofiaich
This is same as mine that's a update to froyo I have the cpw aswell
thanks jutley!
I bought mine from Staples
So waste of time to do that update?
Ofiaich
Just wait. I went from JJ3 to JMI the other week (tesco tab)
Was that a Kies update or OTA (or did you manually flash)?
I'd not heard of anyone in the UK getting the update through Kies/OTA yet.
Guys, Gingerbread is only available in Italy at the moment. If you are waiting for Gingerbread you need to keep an eye on your countries official site, Until its on there you wont be able to get it via Kies.
Just connected to KIEs and got the following firmware update:
PDA:JMI / PHONE:JMA / CSC:JM2 (CPW)
Am I right in assuming that this is a Froyo release?
Yes that still is froyo-released in January for Europe....
I have my tab since December. It only updated to JMI/JMA/JM2 (CPW) via Kies today (June 21st).
Got it from the UK and am in Portugal.
Any idea why it took so long to get an outadated update? It was updated to JJ7/JK5/JJ5 (CPW) since January, I think.
I was really looking for GB here :-/

NOBODY EXCEPT SAMSUNG KNOWS ABOUT UPDATES.....and they also have pulled out the previously leaked(take note-leaked-not officially provided) Italian gingerbread without any reason.
Note: CPW is sales code for UK-no updates for UK......
Yesterday I connected to Kies and got the prompt to update firmware to Gingerbread.
I thought "great" and followed the on screen instructions. Anyway, the update failed, probably due to me running other programs at same time and not turning firewall/virus settings OFF.
So I did the 'emergency recovery' and ended up back where I started, with
PDA:JMI / PHONE:JMA / CSC:JM2 (CPW)
Now Kies says there is no update available, in so much as onthe Basic Information tab, it says the above firmware is the 'latest' one.
Anyone know why this might have happened, and how I can get Kies to recognise the Galaxy Tab (GT-P1000) is due a firmware update ?
I'm reading a lot of cloak and dagger stuff coming out about the Kies system and updates. Does this update come and go from the Kies system ? That would be odd....
cheers
Tony
We in Asia just got our second gingerbread update-from DXJPC to JPD.......!

I understand that Samsung is the only one knowing when updates are done. My question was because I got an update yesterday that everyone got in January, for what I read in the forums.
Just found it weird and hoped someone had a clue!

Weird indeed-that Asia got 2 gingerbread updates in a span of 2weeks while the rest of the world had none since January.

If your Note is a Network locked phone, then you should wait till they release for the update. if not try with Kies.

[Q] I9305 still on 4.1.1

hello,
i got a question, I wonder why my s3 is still on android 4.1.1. I cant update via kies or ota, it just says i already got the latest version. Does it have something to do with my provider (proximus) or the fact that I have the 4G version, that I seem unable to update to 4.1.2? also, i never rooted my phone and im not planning on rooting it either.
thanks

I can't see any firmware from proximus on sammobiles, so there is a chance that it has not been updated for them, if you want 4.1.2 I would download the latest unbranded rom for the i9305 (be 100% sure that the model number is correct) you can then proceed to flash this via Odin, you will not need to be rooted and it will not affect the binary counter.
I suggest the unbranded rom because that comes straight from Samsung, and contains no carrier bloatware.
Next time please post your questions in the Q&A section, as it's against the rules to post questions in general discussion, I will report the thread and ask for it to be moved to Q&A for you

Sry but you didn't read it right and it was not a Samsung statement (just a rumor), for now we wait for 4.2.2 or 4.3 on S3 and only in like 4-8 weeks at least.

I would really prefer to not do anything with my phone, I tried rooting and custom rom and all that stuff on my transformer prime tablet and that didn't end good at all, so I really dont want to ruin my S3, as I have no idea what unbranded and Odin and carrier bloatware is... And sorry for the wrong section
Also when I look on this sammobile site for firmwares, I do not see my PDA number. My Baseband version is I9305XXALJ2 and buildnumber JR003C.I9305XXALJ3. I do not see those numbers anywhere on the site, and since you said I had to be absolutely sure I have the firmware with the right number, there is no firmware for my device or..?
latest is 4.1.2 on sammobile .
Updates Kies OTA are via your vendor . They may choose not to update .

The roms on Sammobile are completely stock, but if you have a carrier branded rom, and they haven't updated you to 4.1.2, and you don't want to mess around there isn't much you can do except wait.
But if you have the I9305 you can flash any I9305 rom.
Odin is a program leaked from Samsung it's what they use to flash test devices at the factory, unbranded is just a rom that has come from the manufacturer rather than carrier, and contains no carrier based boot animations or apps etc. Bloatware is unnecessary system apps (for most people) some examples are apps from your carrier.

Man, just download generic (not branded ROM) for your region and flash it via Odin 3.0.7. It takes about 5-6 minutes to flash and you'll be OK afterwards...
I never use branded fw. Every time I buy a new phone, put it to download mode right out of box and flash generic ROM.

The Luxembourg version is now on sammobile and you should be able to update your phone via Kies. This is the version sold by Belgacom in Belgium as they also own Tango.

Unrooting is different from restoring or reflashing stock rom.
Not seeing any Firmware for that build
Which Carrier are you using?

Im currently using Cricket mobile. Previously I was using straight talk. Can I factory reset it? If not what would be a good firmware region to download from. I live in the USA. If I can't put the original firmware on it how can I restore or reflash the stock rom. Would it be easier to just upgrade with the newest firmware?

Since you're in the USA you're never going to receive an OTA for the i9295. Your only option is to manually flash the firmware you would like to use. Just looking at the firmware available on sammobile.com, I'm thinking the German XXUDOB4 firmware should work pretty well. I had XXUCNE5 on my phone and had no problems with it living in Washington DC.

Changing N920i Firmware

I currently have a N920i from Telstra (Australia) and I was wondering if it is possible to flash the non carrier firmware onto it instead of the having the Telstra firmware? Reason being Telstra take forever with their software updates. If possible, what are the drawbacks?
you cannot change ur kernel or baseband..however u can chnge rom(custom rom like dr.ketan's rom) and that would block ota updates.. So you cannot do anything brother...
Download an official Singapore rom from sammobile. Do the one without any attached version name like singtel, if that makes sense. It will change your kernel. But not your baseband. I'm not sure if this would trip knox however. But I did flash mine to Telstra but I didn't like it because it doesn't feel right. And flashed back. As mines an international version but not from Telstra
Thanks for the feedback, I don't want to trip Knox or anything so I think I'll just leave it be. Thanks anyway guys
Flashing a pure stock rom (eg from Sammobile) through Odin will not trip Knox. I have done that several times. Make sure you only flash one for your device model - the N920i
