Hello everyone. I finally bought the Sony Xperia ZR.
Currently I'm running android 4.3 and I'm having mixed thoughts about updating to android 4.4.4
I know the best way for me to find out which is more suited to my needs is by trying both of them out but I have limited net plan.
So could I have some suggestions. Anything at all.
Which one, in YOUR opinion has better battery life, multitasking, gaming and anything else you can think of.
Thank you :good:
Always update to latest. Don't think about battery and other stuff.
Update version means corrections on past problem with better solution. It's never changing process.
Good luck.

after 4.4.4 update, my phone is overheating very quickly like in 10 mins usage of facebook or whatsapp or youtube
4.3 was better. and because of overheating, the battery life is shortened.
For me at least, 4.4.4 is much better, it's a lot more responsive, and doesn't have the battery drain bug that 4.4.2 had. The battery life isn't as good as 4.3, I don't think, but I'm not sure, since I'm running Xposed with a whole bunch of modules, some of which take up a lot of RAM and battery. Still, overall, I think you should update.
Seems like many have received the 6.0.1 update on android one devices as well. Has it improved the battery life compared to the drain issues on 6.0 or is it the same.
a little better, but ... flash thunderzap kernel or cody`s ..and you`ll get around 320-25 for a full charge ..
It's Worse
The battery life reduced drastically after i upgraded to 6.0.1. Especially the screen off time.

Its consuming more juice than lollipop. Was awesome on kitkat
Not great
A1 battery backup is bad
Could anyone point me which would be the best ROM for battery life at the moment?
I've been using the stock one, but not getting satisfactory battery even with greenify + amplify.
Thanks
I think the best roms are Lineage os and mokee. Actually I'm using the last mokee ROM available 7.1.1 (i update it once for mount) and i think mokee have a good battery life. Lineage and mokee for me are equal in terms of battery life.
For me stock debloated is the best rom for battery life.

Do you have google now & google now launcher installed?
When I deleted them, it was like having a new phone, the standby drain is literally zero.

Yea I actually did it, I was using CyanogenMod's launcher and had google app freezed.
Anyway, as the MX2014 has a little battery itself, and considering my phone has more than a year, I guess the awful battery is normal I just hate having to charge it 2 times a day (I don't play games, leave 3G/4G/Location/Bluetooth disabled, just turn on when needed...)
What I noticed is that the screen consumes much more battery than recent models like the Moto Z Play. Lets take an exemple: 4 hours SOT on the MX2014 leads to about 800 mAh of battery, while the same time on MZ maybe uses 300 or 400 mAh. Thats a HUGE difference.
Stock. 2 days of usage. Not rooted, but some apps are switched off.
I test alot roms but resurrection final 6.0.1 is the best for battery.
About 6 hr SOT is excelent for me.
I use stock motorola camera and gallery and swift dark theme with material black.
The rom works perfectly except touch sound was delay.
I desable the touch sound and everything is excelent.
For more info which rom version and link....write.....
If you see at photos starts count from 90% because i done a reboot.until reboot had 30 min of SOT and after reboot starts from the begining.
So 0.30+5.12+14%=about 6-7 hours SOT ...PERFECT.

I have disable google app.
I have theming with swift darrk and material black soma apps.
If you use viber disable in general settings wifi policy.
Nothing else my friend.
Now i have 1 day of use 2.05 hours SOT and 72% battery.
I use motorola camera stock app and motorola gallery app.
Touct sound is a litle delay so if you make you nervous disable the touch sound.
My battery is new because i buy it before a mounth.if yours is old i dont know you have that SOT.
This rom is the best rom i use ever phone i have.
Before i had a lg g4 and the bigger SOT was 4 hours with 3000 mah battery.
With 2300 mah of moto x and that SOT 6-7 hous is briliand excelent .
Thats all.

Use two links of my post .one is the rom and other is gapps.
You need unlocked bootloader and twrp recovery.
Mke foull wipe (not internal storage) flash rom flash gapps wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
Thats all.

Only problem with Stock Roms (Virginity v14, Project Noble, Ronin) is that they all have this unpredictable Snapchat bug. Quite often Snapchat (both pictures and videos) zoom in like 50% which makes the text often not visible. This is the main reason I stopped using these ROM's.
Virginity V14 also drops 10-30% battery overnight when device is turned off.
My answer to the best s3 mini ROM (i8190) is the following: (not in any particular order)
Omni 5.1.1 (20160125)
Snapchat video's are green. But I don't use this often, so no problem to me.
Resurrection Remix 6.0 (20170305)
Both have great battery life, great performance and offer great features since its LP and MM. Don't assume these ROM's are worse than STOCK because they are 5.1 and 6.0, these are part of THE BEST ROM'S I've come across since years.

Earlier Omni 5.1.1 releases have insane battery consumption in my opinion. Right now I'm using Omni 4.4.4 (20151230) and it's the best one I ever used. Great battery life & awesome performance.
Also I've installed FB Lite and Messenger Lite instead of the traditional ones. These apps BARELY use any RAM. It's like 5-10 MB when it's running, compared to 80mb with most recent Messenger. Big recommendation!

first of all thank you for your recommendation, and yeah I have used omni 4.4.4 (omni gamer version) for a while. It was perfect kitkat rom that I have ever used but I want to use lollipop from now on. Isn't there any lollipop rom which have stabilility and long life battery?

Any ROM with a newer Android version than KitKat is basically getting too heavy for this old device, though it's nice to have
To answer your question, I'd recommend Resurrection Remix 6.0 (20170305) over Omni LP. I haven't used that ROM with FB and Messenger Lite, but I have no doubt it will be even better!

You are right and I really thank you for your advice. I am using omni 5.1.1 now, it is the most stable lollipop rom that I have ever seen but its battery performance is bad. Therefore I will try rr 6.0. But as I know rr is not smooth on our device because of customization. Is this version smooth?

Very!
I always thought of RR the same until I started using it. Ofcourse you shouldn't tweak every option you can find. The only thing I change on every ROM is the battery icon...
The phone lagged very rarely as i remember, but that's probably because there were 5 apps running in the background. Clearing your recents every now and then is probably the best way to keep your phone running smoothly.

then, my the last question is about battery life  how its battery life? for example I experience a terrible battery consumption in omni 5.1.1. I charged to phone %100 and then I sleep for 7-8 hours. When I wake up I saw it consumed almost %30-%35 of battery. Sometimes it consumes more. Do you have any idea about its battery life?

It's awesome man
For shear performance i'd have to put forward Omni LP with Fkernel with OC and Nova Thor settings. Unfortunately Fkernel takes some configuring (init.d script) to get Nova thor settings to work. I believe Nova Thor settings was removed from latest version. I never quite got the stability with this setup. As for Omni LP and battery issues you must boot in twp and with battery at 100% delete the batterystats.bin. This made all the difference.

Somehow I have always had that issue with all the Nougat 7.1.2 (LineageOS 14.1) that I have tried, even with phone completely turned off it drained so fast!!! For me battery life was OK with Marshmallow 6.0.1 so I keep going back to that one. For my not so fancy needs and stability, I prefer either Resurrection Remix 20170531 or LineageOS 13.0 20170328 stable for now. Also current/latest Nougat 7.1.2 RR 20171220 and LineageOS 20171215 seem to have issues (like not booting) so you'd have to wait for newer versions of those if you want to try. I use a black background and set timeout of screen to 30 sec. instead of 1 min. default.
Fastest ROM 5.1 por superior now?
I am new in trying to figure out which ROM to instal. I have a SIII model GT-I8190 with build number JZO54K.I8190XXANI4.
How can I know if a ROM version is compatibel with a certain Build number ?
As you all know with the Nougat update the battery life has become terrible for most of the users. So I'm making this thread so that we could list ROMs that still give that original battery life before the Nougat update. Both Marshmallow and Nougat ROMs are welcome. GO!

Stock oos (beta also) and Franco kernel
My battery life with oos non beta was better with flash kernel instead of franco kernel, device also felt faster.
Im currently on LOS (Tugapower) and battery life is decent as well.
But from what i heard so far it seems that CM13 was best for battery, but i have no personal experience with that on OPO3T

My batterylife is great, 5-6 hours SOT and 24 hrs. off the charger. BTW the best roms for stellar battery life are the ones that have no user installed apps, disable auto-sync, screen brightness set on 10% and only use wifi connections But then why would you buy a smartphone?

Do you have gapps installed and are you on 3g/4G or just WIFI ?
who's going call this terrible battery life in nugget?
that's beta6+franko23 with 4g all the time
I get nothing similar to these results. I've got freedom OS latest beta 6 and bluspark 125 and I can barely get 5 hours of SOT even with brightness really low and only on WiFi
Stock OOS 4.1.3 with franco kernel.
2 hours SOT
22 hours up time
61% remaining
4g only, no Wifi
I am using 3 uk 4g I live in London
I got the same problem , one plus 3t tried all ROMs all kernels , I bought franko kernel app from market and ex kernel , so I got the pro version, I can't get more then 3 hours I don't know if is my device or my battery, I tried a tutorial to disable all Google sync's and Google now and more services , I don't know what to try , I think the battery is not equal made from this Chinese company,
My nexus 6 is non rooted latest firmware 7.1.1 latest security patch I got 3.20 hours screen on time, so I am wondering where is that power efficiency of Snapdragon 821 processor?
Next time I will not buy anymore that (flagship ) device
Also super big screen burn
For £120 I can get Moto g plus dual SIM with Snapdragon 625 super power efficiency I can get 6 hours screen on time , also dual SIM .
Flagship killer

Perhaps LineAge from sultanxda is a good choice. I heard, that it has great battery life. Still testing, seems good.
It seems that battery life is inconsistent. Maybe they were shipping with different battery units, different brand, factory or something? For ma total max is 5h SoT in 20-24h.
Sultan FTW!!!!
