Hey guys!
Been years since I post on here but I've always stopped by to check out different forums. Well I'm back on Android using a Mi Mix I just got about a week ago(The shipper actually sent me 2 by mistake so I have a spare).. Thing is I can't get smart lock to work properly, wondering if it even works at all? I've searched high and low and can't find a straight answer. Hoping someone here can help. I love the phone and am trying to get around all the quirks to get it working to my liking. I am on the newest Global Rom and have not rooted or unlocked the bootloader. Thanks much for any help!
It works with Xiaomi Bluetooth devices only so far, other devices don't seen to be able to be seen or unlock as trusted devices.
Thanks for the answer Nocolfa! I figured it was something cooked into the system files not allowing the phone to see any of my BT connections when searching. Oh well. Not a deal breaker. I've had the phone about a week and when I use my IPhone 7 plus it's almost a joke how small the screen is. The Mix is by no means perfect but man do I enjoy using this phone just for the screen experience alone!
I have a Moto 360 and a Mi Band 2 ... I am so used to the scanner on the back I never really notice the lack of Bluetooth unlocking.

If you are rooted with xposed it can be done, using lineage ROM or resurrection remix rom
It works out the box.

Hey guys. Need some advice. Got a new galaxy gear 1st edition for Xmas. I have not opened it and am debating returning it. Is this thing worth using at this point or is it already outdated ? I presently have a galaxy s3 which is running a cm kit kat variant. I really would rather not switch to touch wiz to use this device. I'm very familiar with flashing roms so if there is a good rom to flash that makes this device great please let me know.
Is this still a decent device? I have never used a smart watch before so it intrigues me.. However I will most likely be upgrading my phone in February or so. Not sure if I will even be getting another samsung. I honestly do not even have the faintest recollection what I would use a smart watch for. If it is just for notifications, I would rather not use the device. I hardly even use notifications on my phone (only ones enabled are text messages).
Tl;dr: got gear for Xmas. Don't have touch wiz. Should I return this?

It's all up to you whether you would like to keep it or return it.
There is enough information on this board to make up your mind about that.
The only think I can tell, is that I absolutely love my watch and I'm glad I kept it
(I got it for free and hesitated to sell it).
With the Null rom, the watch really is so much better than stock, even though the Android version is outdated (Android 4.2.2).
But, from what I understand, someone is trying to port Android Wear onto our watch.
So when he succeeds, the watch is totally up-to-date again.
But for now, I am already happy with what the watch can do already.
But keep in mind, the main purpose of the watch is to indeed receive notifications which appear on the phone.
Nice benefit is that you can call and receive calls with the watch.
Do notifications work with aosp roms? Or do I need touch wiz?

As I have owned both a S4 and S5, but both of them with TW based roms, I can't exactly tell you.
But I've read that people got it working on AOSP roms or even other brands phones (like Nexus, LG, etc).
Or you can use other software than Gear Manager, like SWApp Link
Anyway, there are possibilities but none of them easier than on a TW rom.
Thanks for your help. I think im gonna return this device and wait until the technology matures more before I decide to jump in. Much appreciated.
So I guess im super lucky and finally got Android Auto in my Sonata 2015 but it doesnt work with The Verizon Lg G3.... Its one of three phones that it doesnt work for supposedly... Im wondering if there is some kind of workaround? There has to be!? Ive tried multiple roms and options but cant seem to figure out how to get it to work for my device! If anyone can help me out that would be amazing!

Just FYI, it would be "1 of 3 of the MOST POPULAR new phones" running stock Lollipop+ that Google has tested.
I'm sure there is a huge list of less popular phones that aren't working, but Google has only done positive/negative testing on the most popular. Fragmentation is a problem for Google too.
Maybe that will make you feel slightly less bad.
Sorry I don't have an answer for your actual question.

yeah that's true but as far as Im aware if it has lollipop it should work regardless and if someone doesn't have lollipop I doubt they would have android auto. Its just annoying because every other variant of this phone works with android auto and it seems like something someone on XDA could fix before Verizon gives out an update... which would be months from now if that! Guess I just have to wait or buy a new phone which im too cheap to do!
Or flash cyanogen 12? (Not 12.1) the last 12 official build works fine.

This is why I'm not on Verizon, and why I don't buy phones with heavily OEM modified Android. You risk it not working with the latest and greatest that Google puts out.
I have always stuck with Nexus (or recently) Motorola devices. As much as I liked the G3 (and the G4 even more), I want to play with all things Android, so better to stay with vanilla Android as much as possible.

I always try and make my phones as vanilla android as possible. But I think Im just gonna buy a Nexus 6 and stick my sim into it for now and then sell my G3 on swappa. Ive never owned a Nexus phone before because I never had spare money but I have a new job (salary based finally!) So I think im gonna just treat myself, ive always wanted a Nexus phone as well!.
Happy Nexus Sixing!
Hey guys, I'm pretty sure no one has seen me in the G Flex section. I did work for the M8, G3 etc back in the day. I just picked up a G Flex the other day with T-Mobile excited to put Lollipop on it. Came home and searched the threads to see there isn't lollipop for it nor is there any AOSP ROMs for it. I understand the issues behind it but I just wanted to say these issues doesn't prevent ASOP running on our G Flex. There's still possibilities. I came from the ZTE Zmax, and we had 1 dev working on our phone and got CM12.1 up and running with full stability in a month. I read somewhere that LG confirmed that the G Flex will NOT get lollipop because of some issues that was causing it to be buggy. LG basically stalled development on the G Flex until the 18 months that Google gave as an requirement for Software updates was over. The 18 month period for the G Flex ended back in May. So LG basically used that as an excuse to not update our phone, which is very stupid and it sucks but we have developers in this community that are smarter than LG Devs. We don't need a kernel source to build a functional kernel, even though a source would help tremendously. The ZTE Zmax, ZTE Awe ($30 phone), LG Tribue ($40 Phone) are all running CM12.1 with no kernel source and locked Bootloaders. For sensor and Audio issues you could simply TRY and use libs from other devices that compare like the G2. That's what the dev for the ZTE Zmax did. I see development started for lollipop but ended months ago. I also see a couple people working on CM11 and others quietly working on their own CM12 build. I'm not here to criticize, because I know this kind of stuff isn't easy. I'm just simply giving advice on something that may or may not have been tried yet. It's been almost a year since lollipop launched and you would expect a Flagship device to have lollipop or at least an AOSP ROM by now. Android M is being launched in a few months. Let's get this project back up and running and don't stop until its finished! We have plenty of donators including me. If help is needed ask other experienced Devs, CM Devs, even Devs on the Android Forums. This phone has way too much potential to just forget about.
I'm already accepting that we may not get anything and gotten used to a tweaked stock rom. There's a reason cheaper phones have lollipop already, they're going to have larger user bases by default. There is really no reason to pick up a flex even under an upgrade deal when there are plenty of competing phones that already have thriving communities, and I wish I did more research before I got mine. So really it comes down to someone only picking it up to get something different and even hindered.
That said, if some crazy dev does decide to pick the phone I'll be pleasantly surprised but preaching like this forum has been for weeks now isn't going to do anything when we have no devs actively working or even looking at us. I'm really hoping I get proven wrong and I'm definitely ready to throw some money at a reputable dev but seriously now, we don't even have stable cm11 ports and people are hoping for lollipop.

That's the problem, that fact that Lollipop is almost a year old and we don't even have 4.4.4 KitKat. We're about 2 years behind. This is why I said, lets go around and recruit. There are some Devs that don't even need the device in hand to build. They build and use testers. It seems like when there are kernel related issues Devs give up because they have little to no kernel knowledge. There's ways around that. Like I said, the CM11 port may not be stable but its still silently being worked on, just not finished in the timeframe people expect. And I've seen a couple people quietly working on their own CM12 builds. CM12 is already booting, its just in the same condition as CM11, which no one figured out how to fix yet, which is Sound, Bluetooth etc. I believe this device will get Lollipop soon, but only if people are eager and motivated to get the job done.

I have my Huawei Mate 2 with lollipop. It goes for 2 days with heavy use when it had Android 4 so I'll have to see what it will do now. The reason I put it down was because the camera sucked but with the update it seems to work fine. I love the LG form factor with the power and volume buttons and even the gui is cool but I'll try the Mate 2 and see. Mate 2 has a brighter screen, but the lg has wifi calling so lots of pluses and minuses. My fried got the Mate 7. Awesome phone but he was used to the long batter of the Mate 2 so returned it.
You guys MIGHT wanna check out playfulgod's CM11 thread, all the new development from the past month has been going on there. We now have sound working!!!
The d959
Does anyone know if the latest cm11 build with sound and data for the d959 will work? Saw the multiple .zip files but none for 959 in the main thread(cm11)
Read! Reply over there BTW, more likely to get help. And he's gonna build for d959 when data works on lswhateveritscalled. Sound works on all.
I know we've all heard it before. I ditched this phone to basically get lollipop. But after a few weeks I realized what I'd been hearing since launch. I don't hold this screen right up in my face. I don't care about pixels. What I do care about? The awesome size and battery life. Mine never stutters. Forget lollipop. I'm fine with the flex the way she is. I would like to see more development. But if we get it we do and if we don't we don't. I still have an awesome and powerful phone and cm12.1 would run awesome.

I am pretty excited! I have been looking for a 5-5.2 inch device that was not under powered. The new Axon Mini looks like it could be interesting! http://www.androidcentral.com/zte-adds-axon-mini-and-axon-watch-its-flagship-lineup
I hope it has NFC and supports ATT LTE Bands. I am concerned about the lack of support/interest on the Axon forums here at XDA. I wish we had root and custom rom support. Hopefully that will come with time?
I'm still scouring the web looking for root for the Pro. No luck yet. I have a pm on MIUI forum but my account is messed up and I can't access it. Support is working on it. The message is in Chinese so I need to translate it and see if the root method works. Mini looks nice. Can't locate list of LTE networks supported yet. As far as a developer community for this device, it is non-existent. Not having root certainly doesn't help. Love listening to music on it though. No other device I've tried even comes close.

Its unfortunate that there is no support- I wonder why that is? Seems like a good little phone.
To tell you the truth, because root is not available, I have not messed with the phone, obviously. And I don't miss it one bit. It's an almost vanilla experience. It runs smoothly. I haven't had any totally negative experiences with bugs etc. If they manage to get it on MM within a couple of months I'll be happy. The only thing I'm missing is Adaway. I really don't feel the need to jack with it anymore.
I have a couple of phones that I've ROM'd the hell out of and it's a time consuming all life encompassing thing. Making nandroids, installing dailies , restoring, rinse and repeat.
I'm Enjoying my time with a phone that runs well and hasn't got a bunch of **** on it so I have to rom it to get a decently passable experience. (I'm looking at you Samsung/Sony).
Root to me, is more of a freedom thing. If you can root you have the freedom to make the device be what you want it to be. The Axon Pro isn't that far away. For me at least.
More than anything, the lack of root will be a killer for the device, because if the modding community doesn't support it, then the device will lose the cult following it needs to bring it to the mainstream consumer that are obsessed with name brands. This is a shame because it is seriously one of the best phones I've ever owned.

Thats quite the endorsement! I only use root for Tasker and a backing up through Titantium. I have scaled back a tone on custom roms. I jsut want a phone that works well and isnt huge.
How is the GPS on it? I lose signal all the time on my G3 and my wife's G2.

As much of an endorsement as someone who hasn't bought a brand name phone since the Xperia Z1 (and that was for my girlfriend). The shortage on storage could be an issue but I'm used to it with my OPO, so I moved everything over to cloud storage anyway. It maybe because of the Find7/OPO/Nexus 5 combo of my last 3 phones but I'm happy NTL. I'm not a big phone gamer though.
GPS is sweet, never had an issue. It stays connected and locks quickly. I've used it in a couple of states over the US and it's never been a problem. It gets a bit warm, but if you have a case you won't really notice.
Not sure this is coming to the states. The chinese version will support ATT HSPA which is fast enough for me. Just nervous about the lack of interest and lack of official support from ZTE.
Okay I bit the bullet and bought the Chinese version of the Axon Mini, It should get HSPA on ATT.

The ONLY reason I have NOT upgraded to a 7 or 8 the locked bootloader issue. I bought by S6 Edge Tmob variant Apr 2015. Still use it. I switch a lot between International and Tmob version ROMs except since the new firmware FINALLY came out for Nougat...no ROMs posted here. So basically I have been running my own custom ROM so to speak. I'm rooted with Magisk. I currently am using a kernel posted somewhere called [email protected] #1. It allowed me to install AOD files, but even tough I have all the appropriate switches in Display settings and the various FONT clocks etc, I can't get AOD to actually show on my standby screen, so I'm missing something. I posted a thread how to install Viper with the stock rooted TMobile firmware. So basically, I for one consider myself as active as I can around here and have tried to do so ever since getting my SM-G925T over two years ago. When on MM I had faithfully been using your last 11.5 MM Edge kernel too and believe I did offer some *beer* for your efforts back when you released that final product. I for one would be more than happy to offer anything I can as far as possible testing on my device in the future. Thanks again, for your efforts too.

Totally ignorant on that app. Just googled and a quick read. Really an interesting application I intend on diving into. Appreciate the reference. Downloaded the latest version. Much appreciated.
I'm still around. However my XDA app seems to have died. It hasn't updated anything in a few weeks. Like others have said, not going for a locked bootloader. The S6 will probably be my last Samsung phone for that reason.
Been a long time since I've been on here... Thinking about rooting again. I've been out and about and gave up messing with my phone for a while, but with the new update... I'm not that impressed with Nougat.. I still love my S6 though. Is there still a root even though I've updated to Nougat?

Not only that but also taking a leap and actually attempting to teach us non-devs how to build a Samsung kernel!
