I have a thing for Launcher and navigation bar tweaks that go beyond simple themes and colors, involving things like adding actions to the nav bar and modifying/tweaking stuff to the point where it doesn't feel like a normal UI. My current project was to make a UI that increased efficiency and gave me access to my most important applications without the launcher menu, reducing the amount of inputs and keeping them all on the bottom half of the screen

I used XStana for the custom navigation bar icons, and GravityBox to customize their actions
From Left to right:
Menu button
yes, i realise this isn't the default menu button, but i like it on this side :3
single tap gives you menu
long press turns on flashlight
doubletap opens quick settings
Back button
single and long press are their default action
long press opens up volume settings [nice to prevent surprises in class]
Home Button
single and double press are default
long press takes a screenshot
Recent Apps Button
single tap opens recent apps
long press opens the status bar
double tap opens a terminal
HotKey button (what i like to call my extra button)
Single tap opens messenger
double opens music
long press opens miniature app drawer that has my 12 favorite apps
Other than that i did some color tweaks to make everything blend nicely and some statusbar tweaks to prettify some stuff. Oh, and i took advantage of nova launcher's swipe up thing to eliminate having -any- icons on my desktop.
And with that, i'd like to hear about your favorite things to do to your phone, what Xposed theming you do! pics or it didn't happen!

i have been looking around the net for this for a while a but i can't find what i'm looking for. i think it would be nice if there was a program that auto hid the on the screen such as the contact and phone buttons and the start bar on the normal phone screen and more or less the same ones on touchflo 3d for the reason if you wanted just see the calender and the call history on the touchflo 3d and the stuff on the normal screen like your widgets and then when you want to use the bars you could move your finger or stylest to the area of which they where and they would pop up and this program would be cooler if it also adjust the background picture to the size of the screen if it was to big to see the whole picture on the screen, so that you can see it. if it is too hard to put those two things i one program put them in separate ones.
Yeah sounds good. Maybe instead of hiding the icons and stuff just make them transparent and when your finger touches them they can light up or have the color for the icon come back?.. I’ve seen a few people working on making transparent clocks so I don’t think that should be too hard.
that is good but i wanted to make this so that you could see the whole background and the picture that is in my background
What you are asking for is pretty much already a reality in 2.1 and 2.5 Sense manila with the addition of Max Manila Mod.

With the different options in fullscreen. I'm currently running the latest Energy ROM he has remapped the home key to do what it is supposed to, bring you back to the home screen. With it in fullscreen if I press the home key it will bring up the topbar for a second or two, just long enough to be able to press it to get to the notification page. As far as pressing where the calendar or alarms tabs should be will not bring up the pages. You would have to either scroll to the options to turn them back on for a second or just go to the calendar tab. Alarms you can still get to by tapping the clock to get to world clock settings then just go to the alarm tab at the bottom.
1. Can I remove the text from the Quicknav bar in any way? Just leave the icons?
2. Can I get a separate link to the 'Quick settings' page that I can get to by pressing the top right of the status bar (around the battery/clock area - it gives me the wifi toggle option). Using NTMM, the actions for the Statusbar are 'default' but I do not know what the default option actually is. And if I can remap it to the quicknav bar for instance.
Cheers

OK, as a compromise I have done this:

To do this, I backed up the apps that I wanted to change, then decompiled them on my PC, changed the app name and the main icons, recompiled and signed, and reinstalled. ( I had to uninstall the old versions first). For gmail,, I edited the apk in the ntgappsattack folders, and reapplied this patch from nookmanager again (no uninstall necessary). After mapping the apps to the quicknav bar (using ntmm), a reboot is required to update the bar.
FYI, the apps are L7, Opera mobile, Coolreader, Gmail and ES file explorer.
To remove the names, I could remove the app names, though this is not perhaps the best idea (though doable... if in doubt rename the apps a different number of spaces, so they have something... for instance my L7 'Home' app name is actually '_Home_' so as not to confuse teh system with the Nook 'Home', and the name will stay centred.
I just manually upgraded to 5.1 (rooted and encrypted) and have run into a problem accessing the shortcuts and settings menu when swiping down on the notification bar.
Right after rebooting, if I swipe down on the notification bar I see the shortcuts (WiFi, BT, hotspot, etc) and am able to click on the gear symbol to access the settings menu. The problem is when swiping down again, I only get a "No notifications" message. When touching the profile icon, I don't get the settings menu either. Also, I no longer see the priorities selection when using the volume button, only the slider.
I looked through the settings and did not see any options for enabling/disabling the shortcuts/menus.
Appreciate any help!
Thanks
That's very weird.
Post a screenshot.

Please post a screenshot of the volume issue.
I've tried the double swipe but I still get no menus. I've also noticed that I get no notifications showing up in the bar. I hear them but they don't show up. I also no longer have the swipe to unlock feature on the phone even though it's set for it.
I've also flashed it again manually and still no joy.
Thanks
If you're here its not user error, you should try and factory reset.
Yet the newest version 5 has many bugs on our Droid. The suggestion bar will not show in a browser. The resizer disappears after using. The newest version erases the backup when you reset to defaults while not so with version 2.

Update v2204 is attached.
I just tried all day & 100% indeed. Nearly anyway, I can't get the personal shortcuts to work. The current Play emoji plugin works.
The resizer works even in a browser.
Makes me question what happened with development after v2. Lollipop is a good guess.
Installing F-Droid & keep the app chooser "open" letting you choose F-droid or Play. Then just touch the screen to kill the app of the day.
Be mindful of the cut button in the middle of the 3 mode bar. It will clear a long comment with an inadvertent touch. There is an undo in the utilities button.
Bugs
Also "expand the textbox" kills the suggestion bar.
Sometimes the suggestion bar hides & you must close the KB with the back Navigation key & reopen by touching the input field.
The ”make it my own"/urban experience (lol WTF is that) is neat to get the popup & key pressed color to linger- I always thought to popup went way too fast & still does with this mod but lingering key color is better than the popup. Trouble is with all these screen mods it is easy to out-type our processor. Edit disabled the popup completely-just the key fade is better.
I have attached this popup-less settings backup with some other mods.
I included my backup settings to put in Android/data.

In Play store there are poor reviews for the new version (good reviews for this version) on our phone! On most phones the reviews are poor for the newer versions.
This top row has a 3 mode button for numbers, special characters or editing-a delete key & much more. As mentioned above the cut key can be a disaster at times but I have saved my posts with undo key from the 3way button.
Click on ai.type.zip.txt & copy Mega link to download.
Install but do not launch/open.
Don't bother with setup helper by launching the app after install. Next go settings/ language & input, enable the app, put the backup in sd-android/data, Go to settings, language & input, settings, prediction, restore data.
You need to disable (settings/app/) the stock keyboard & reboot too.
Download F-droid from Play, to stop the app of the day nag.
Do not select a default. Do nothing, just tap the KB to clear.
This is still my fav KB, the copy, paste & other editing buttons being right on the top row is nice when the auto appearing ones won't show themselves.
Ok, it's a little crude and you loose the labels, but it is simple and no need for any programming or special skills.
So, my Tab 2 P3100 is now running CyanogenMod 12.1 with Nova Launcher and Theme is Black Accent.
In Nova you can't rearrange the icons in the App Drawer in so many ways.
This is a way to be a liitle more creative.
You need an Icon pack that gives you the option to not have an icon at all.
In my case it's Lines.
However, I want other icons, so I also have Monoic.
You also need a number of apps that you never will use.
How it looks in my Tab:
{

}
Ordinary Lock Screen
..................................................
Left Home Screen.......Middle(default).......Right Home Screen
As you can see my Home Screens are off center to the right, but that is easy since Nova let's you place the icons how ever you want.
So I chose an app grid with 1 extra unused column. I can have labels here, but I don't want to.
....................
Drawer coming up...........Up
To get the same look and keep the icons from the red lines I need an extra column here too.
But Nova will put icons there. And in alphabetical order...
I have renamed apps that I don't use or need and with Lines Icon Pack they got an empty space instead of an image.
In the last row I made one more app "invisible" to center the icons under the others.
Later I may add 2 usable apps to get a full bottom row.
Depending on widgets and number of apps and also the background image, it takes some trial'n'error to find
what app grid you need.
You might even need to install some small garbage app just to make it invisible
Edit:
Another way to use the drawer with hidden icons is probably covered somewhere, but if you have your ordinary drawer, apps'n'all...
You can take a screenshot and use that as background (but now your home screen is affected).
Make all icons hidden and you get a transparent "activation sheet" that needs to be pulled upp to use the apps you see in the background.
