I followed this simple guide to have mtp working, some people say don't work but for me worked:
(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type "wpdmtp.inf"* in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.
*You can also not include .inf, you will find that file because is the only one.
Tell me if works, also I copied to my desktop to use step 4 when need it
After that my phone (Moto X), my brother's phone (Moto g) and my mother's phone (samsung J3 '16) are read again by my pc

I also found this alternative guide for you this no your cable and/or USB port is ok:
If the player is showing up in your Windows' Device Manager under "portable devices" with a yellow "!":
1.) Right-click the yellow "!" and choose "update driver".
2.) When given the option to connect to Windows Update, choose "no, not this time" and click next.
3.) Choose "Install from a specific location (advanced)" and click next.
4.) Choose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and click next.
5.) Click the "Have Disk" button. Browse to C:\Windows\inf and choose the file marked "wpdmtp.inf"

When I flashed my phone back down to 2.1 using Odin3 from the leaked 2.2, my computer was still able to detect my phone when plugged in using USB. I reinstalled Titanium backup and restored all my apps and now my computer no longer detects my phone as being plugged in.
Development mode is on and it still charges when plugged into the computer but nothing else. I can't mount it the sdcard to transfer files either.
I've installed and reinstalled SGH-i897_Captivate_USB_Drivers_5_02_0_2 and the drivers in the Odin3 thread several times and nothing has worked. Anyone else got ideals?

Ok so I found the problem. It has something to do w/ the software update, which seemed to be kept on for some reason. Everytime I restarted the phone it said communication error w/ the server, it does this without me even touching software update. So I turned off wifi and 3g, effectively turning off the software update and now my computer detects the phone. I don't know why this is, but it worked.

That would be a possible fix IF the option was there when u pull down the status bar. In my situation the USB symbol never appears. Even when I go into settings and mount the SD card there, it doesn't work.

Erm, okay:
-Unlock your phone's screen; rest it at homescreen
-Connect your already-plugged-into-computer USB cable to phone (in a timely fashion, before the screen autolocks)
-See if you get a noti' (and if not, then how does the phone respond when you plug your cable into it?)

when you say a statement like "I cannot connect my phone to my PC" that really isn't saying much. but let's say you mean that your phone isn't being recognized as connected, plugged in as unknown device at all.
First thing you need to do is figure out who the culprit is, is it your android phone or your windows PC. Easy check: try plugging in your phone in another PC. at the very least it should pop up as a connected unknown device, or as your moto model number. if one PC doesn't show it try as many as you have access to.
You can also try plugging in other devices in your original windows PC and see if they're recognized.
so there are a few scenarios but I'll pick one scenario where your phone connects to the other PCs and your computer recognizes other devices. in this case (or even in most cases) I'd suspect a problem or conflict in the device manager of your PC. plug in your phone and go into control panel, device manager and look through it, look at the USB connections, look for any yellow error triangles, and if you notice something fishy uninstall the device and unplug and replug your phone.
keep trying at the end of the day you're the only one with physical access to your hardware so you're the one in the best position to troubleshoot it.
was doing it as a quick suggestion... as the previous posts says, u didn't tell us much info... we don't know what you've done, nor tried...

I got the USB issue sorted out tho.
Follow this steps
1. Go to settings, scroll down to "System"; select "About Phone".
2. Tap Build number about 7 times until "You are now a builder" pops up.
3. Go back to Systems and select "Developer options"
4. Turn the switch on then scroll down to "Debugging"
5. Turn on "USB debugging"
6. Scroll down to "Networking" and tap "Select USB Configuration".
7. Select "MTP" (Media Transfer Protocol).
8. Connect your phone to the USB cable and plug into your computer.
Note: If it doesn't connect after this, reboot your phone and connect it again to your computer.
Please let me know if this worked. Thanks
I wrote this in another thread with similar problem, i'll do a copy-pasta here..
Infinix's 5.1.1 has a half-hearted multiuser feature. they fix it in 6.0, and the fix further create this stupid problem.
sdcard is only a link, a shortcut, and the real location which the shortcut pointed got moved.
it is originally in /data/media in 5.1.1, move to /data/media/0 in 6.0. only the link moved, not the content, so you will not see them. you need root to move them to the right place.

Just have to ask, apart from the issues you've mentioned does marshmallow have any other issues on the hot 2?
Thanks
Marshmallow on hot 2 came to me with battery issues which am yet to solve. My battery does not charge beyond 88 percent no matter how long it stays plugged in. Any advice?
The proximity sensor also seems to not work. I tested it with All-In-One-Toolkit which recognizes it, but the sensor doesn't interact with apps.
I'm sure I'm not the only person who's had this issue but I've read through a bunch of threads and can't seem to find any that mirror the issues I'm seeing.
I downloaded the latest google drivers here:
https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb.html
I changed the USB mode from charging to file transfer (not sure if that matters but one of the threads said this helped discover the ADB device needs, which was the case for me)
When I look at the device manager, I see this:
http://pasteboard.co/5UkUolhM2.png
I actually thought I was going to see this (based on a few user posts I read) but no luck . . .
http://pasteboard.co/5Uo9QvP8z.png
I hate asking such a basic question (I'm trying to root my phone but I'm already stuck at the backup stage . . . heh) but I've honestly tried to look through the threads and resolve it but I haven't found a solution yet. It doesn't mean one doesn't exist (I apologize if one does, I honestly have tried to solve this myself).
I apologize for the links rather than pics but it doesn't seem to want to let me use the IMG tags (do they not work with *.png?).
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I have a somewhat similar problem. Which I can attribute to some sort of driver/inf screw up
Any device i connect to my Win 10 PC in MTP mode gets recognized in device manager as MTP device and I can't do anything about it.
Unless I go back to driver setting, have it automatically find updated drivers, which it doesn't.
But then right after, if i go to manually select driver and switch it from MTP to MTP USB - it fixes everything
Any idea how to fix that. I'm sure it's a similar issue to this.
I couldn't use the Google drivers, I had to use the OnePlus Driver package.
Beside, did you guys enable USB debugging?
Cheers
Tom
if device manager is showing any unknown devices then start with that when you can plug in the phone without problems have a look at this.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
Which adb version do you use?
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
I've actually tried installing those drivers (on the partition), the google drivers, a fastboot and ADB program, and even an all in one tool for drivers and none of them worked.
That said, I might have found my problem. I've tried several approaches and found out the the virus protection on this computer (Cylance) is blocking everything. Also explains some issues I had getting things to work with some home automation projects . . . I'll have to find another computer for development.
I'll give you guys an update once I have one. Thanks for the quick replies.
I wanted to follow up on this since I got it up and working just fine.
First off, thanks to everyone that helped, either those that provided answers, or those that confirmed they were seeing the same issues.
It does appear that cylance (my antivirus) was blocking a number of things. I have a different laptop with a fresh version of windows 10 (not a requirement, just making note of this) and protected by bit defender and set it up with that. This is what I did:
1) Plug phone into computer
2) Went to pulldown menu, clicked on "charging mode" and changed it to "transfer files"
3) A partition was found on my computer called "Oneplus Drivers" (on the my computer page, next to the C drive). I double clicked on the directory and it installed the drivers to my computer
4) I downloaded and installed Minimal ADB with fastboot from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790. (You'll need to click a few links to get to the actual download but I wanted everyone to know that it's a legitimate link and not just my own personal/questionable source)
5) I ran minimal adb and typed "adb devices". It will show your device as "unauthorized" initially because it hasn't been accepted on your device. Open your device and click allow or ok or something to that effect (didn't think to take a screenshot). Your call if you want it to always remember that device.
6) Type "adb devices" again and it should show your device labeled "device"
So yeah, that's how I got the basic ADB up and working. Hopefully you guys resolve this as well. Good luck!
I was too having the same issue but solved using this easy method https://youtu.be/LbAq6d2Du0U

SamsungQuickShare4AllThis tiny batch script makes Samsung Quick Share working on non-Samsung Windows PCs by spoofing a registry value that the program checks when opening.
UsageDownload the script here and just run it (it could ask for admin rights). You'll only need to run it once, after that it'll automatically launch itself after every startup/reboot.
How to download Quick ShareIf you want the latest Store version go here, paste the store link of the app, click the checkmark, scroll down, download the one named SAMSUNGELECTRONICSCoLtd.SamsungQuickShare_xxxxxxxx_neutral_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.msixbundle (the only one that ends with .msixbundle), then open it and install it. You won't need to download every update like this, it'll automatically update from the Microsoft Store when there is a new version.
Remember that your phone's screen needs to be on and unlocked to be discoverable from your PC (unfortunately it's a limitation of Quick Share itself)!
TroubleshootingAll should work fine just by running the .bat file, but if you're having issues try applying DriverCheckBypass.reg (just run the file, then Yes and then Ok), especially if your PC doesn't have an Intel AX wireless adapter (e.g. Intel AC/Broadcom/Realtek/Marvell etc.).
Keep in mind that latest versions from the Store could contain patches to this method, so if you encounter any issue download this older version here.
DisclaimerKeep in mind that Samsung could fix this any time. So, if it doesn't work, probably they have fixed it. However, as of 11/7/2021, I can confirm that it works perfectly (doesn't display the unsupported device error and file sharing works both sending and receiving), tested on Lenovo Yoga C940 with Intel AX201 wireless adapter (support for other adapters cannot be guaranteed). Also, I'm not responsible for any loss or damage.
DownloadYou can download it here!

a .xml Task Scheduler task to make it launch at startup (check "run with highest privileges" when creating/importing the task). The task is configured to run the .bat version of the script, but you can change it to run the .ps1 one if you like.

Good morning, yes, you need to turn on BT on both PC and phone, as well as Quick Share on your phone. The first time you'll send a file, it could ask you to pair your devices via bluetooth.

If the transfer shows "failed" or never completes, try going to Bluetooth settings and unpairing the devices, and then retrying sending a file, it will ask to pair again. Yes, they restrict allowed drivers to the ones that come with their Galaxy Book devices, which is AX series, so try applying DriverCheckBypass.reg file and then retry. Don't worry, it won't install anything and won't mess with your drivers, it will just create the registry keys and values that the app checks regarding drivers. However, thanks for reporting!

Thanks for the quick response. I seem to have some Bluetooth connection issue with my laptop, when I try to pair my phone with it I get this message in my phone "Couldn't pair. Check settings for this device and try again."

You could try reinstalling/updating your BT drivers

Oh, I'm sorry. What doesn't work precisely? It fails when sending files? Did you try both PC->phone and phone->PC?

Try toggling Quick Share off and on on your phone and try setting it temporarily to "Everyone" instead of "Only contacts" (both on PC and phone) and retry.
Awesome, thank you! This are the kind of things I expect to find here!

I uninstalled the Bluetooth adapter and re-installed also. In services.msc, all three Bluetooth related services are set to automatic start. Literally spent at least 3 hours in the morning today to troubleshoot the Bluetooth issue in my laptop, no luck

Seems like an issue unrelated to Quick Share, but to exclude it completely try these possible solutions:
- try to pair the PC with another phone
- if the driver is not Intel AXxxxx try installing the DriverCheckBypass.reg file
- the unsuccessful pairing is the one that asks when you try sending a file with QS, right? If yes, try to pair it manually in Windows bluetooth settings
- which version did you try? The latest one or the older one? If you are trying the first then try the latter and viceversa.
