Just ordered my new phone, after testing iphone for half a year. But I miss the freedom of Android so 3T is my new phone. [emoji4]
But just wondering, I need root and now there is two ways to do that. Which one is preferred? Always used SuperSU before but I need to hide root for certain apps?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Best combination for me is Magisk + MagiskSU. Used SuperSU in the past, but today, I enjoy the freedom of systemless modding and Magisk is perfect for this. Also you can't hide root - properly (at least didn't work for me) -
with SuperSU. With Magisk I even pass SafetyNet.

SuperSU is also closed source. Unacceptable for an app which manages the root access of apps. There are a few more downsides of SuperSU which made me switch to an open source solution.

I've used both SuperSU and MagiskSU. They're both good solutions, but for my current setup and requirements I prefer MagiskSU.
How can I pass safetynet? I am using Magisk

Hi there,
I am rooted with supersu, using stock rom and just heard of magisk. I would like to switch from supersu to magisk. I followed the guide and it said I only need to install magisk manager, then click on install. However, I did exactly what was said but it just said it installed magisk zip file into sdcard/Magiskmanager. So now what do I do? Do I flash the magisk zip via twrp?
Thanks for reading! :victory:
EDIT:SOLVED

To switch from SuperSU to MagiskSU:
Full unroot in SuperSU app with boot image restoration.
Flash Magisk zip in TWRP.
Can someone help me? I flashed Resurrection Remix official 5.8.3 and i had root, It does have Magisk installed already, but always i restart my phone Magisk says that phone is not rooted. Why?
Magisk is a step forward - for example you can use root detecting apps on a rooted device like Android Pay or Snapchat
I agree, I switched to Magisk and can run Android pay and everything else works great

Just go to SuperSU and disable supersu. Then go to settings, app and open Android pay in all app tap. Then erase cache and data. Then open android Pay and tray the setting again.

Follow the instructions at the end of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=64199915
Essentially you have to flash unSU.zip to remove the current super user files, and flash the systemless supersu zip.
EDIT: Make sure you take a backup of your current ROM in TWRP, because I don't believe the systemless root has been tested on the turbo yet. If you want to wait a couple hours, I am planning on trying this out myself it a little while.

Its like Samsung saying that the system is modified. Payment doesn't work maybe because Google doesn't want to take liability for a modified rom doing something wrong.
Sent from my ONE E1003 using Tapatalk
Android pay won't work on any rom that is not CTS compliant. That means, Samsung, LG, OnePlus, Cyanogen OS, HTC, etc will work. Custom ROMs will not work.
You'll also need to disable root. I use SuperSU and just disable root when I need to use pay. Works just fine.

I guess it's hit and miss. I'm on stock, bootloader unlocked, and I've tried it by disabling root - even uninstalled SuperSU and cleaned the cache in TWRP. I figured it's TWRP or that it's unlocked.

Use lucky Patcher and get root access.
tap on toolbox→Patch to android→tick on Disable signature verification in the package manager→tap on apply and wait to apply it will auto reboot your phone→Done.
Now you can install any older version app over the newer one without uninstalling it.

Sweet.. Ah also I noticed your using my mock locations patcher... if you have patched the service.jar you uploaded with the mock locations patcher you no longer need that module as the smalipatcher.zip will contain it. You should remove/disable the mock locations module.. hopefully that sentence made sense.

I don't think it handles large modules very well. It failed to install for me too (said it couldn't find /data/magisk), then tried again and it worked fine.
So could've been a partial install the first time or something

As for Selinux Switcher, you probably need to dig through the MIUi settings and disable a security restriction.
