Will Moto G⁴ play receive Android Nougat
Yes, but you're asking in the wrong section. There's a question and answer sub forum.
The Harpia(g4 play) will get nougat within the next 60 days.

So I'm unlocked rooted Xposed, so I'll be wanting to download full ROM and just not flash data.
Are the full ROM online? I not owned Moto before

You'll have to wait for someone to create a custom rom or learn to build it from source yourself

You misunderstand. Currently I'm rooted so Moto won't allow an OTA to N. So I must go back to MM stock first, when Moto release N.
So my question is more how do you go back to Moto stock.
My question was NOT about custom rom N (which you replied correctly to build or wait for a builder).
It's out for G4 and G4 Plus, when it's coming to us?
Already been confirmed

Same issue here.
I want to buy this phone and root right away, but I have to know that I will be able to update to the official Nougat release once it's out, and for this, it has to go back to stock (recovery and all).
I found this mirror: https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/harpia/official/RETAIL/
Is this the necessary file? How do you flash it?
I downloaded the zip I mentioned (corresponding to the version of the region, like XT1602) and I checked the files against the ones mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/general/manual-ota-update-process-step-step-t3206049.
They match. So I guess the process is the same, and we can use it to go back to stock when the Nougat OTA is out.

I have the same question. I believe Motorola made a mistake by saying the G4 Play would get Nougat.

I also have questions about that.
I think Android 7.0 needs the Open GL 3.1 native support and the snapdragon 410 processor (with the Adreno 306 gpu) in the Moto G4 Play has support for Open GL 3.0, so it seems the G4 Play is not compatible with Nougat.
I'm considering buying the Moto G4 because it has a snapdragon 617 cpu and an adreno 405 gpu and definitely supports Open GL 3.1.

The problem is not necessarily with Nougat, but it seems the Open GL 3.1 or Vulkan API are now required for Google CTS (someone on reddit said this is related to the updates being bundled with gapps), so Motorola can't roll the official update.

Understood.
However, Google announced in 2015 that their platform would be supportive of the Open GL 3.1 ES for the newer cpu's going forward. The snapdragon 410 is a dinosaur by today's standard and even if Motorola rolled out the official 7.0 update to the G4 play I'm not sure the 410 would perform well with it.

Maybe. Not sure. I wouldn't count on getting the update though.
There is a soak test going on right now for the Moto G4 and G4 plus. I'm probably going to get the G4 so I can have Nougat and possibly Android O when it is released.
So now that Android Pie is officially released im sure the android one phones will get it, so how about the european version?
and the android P beta rom will be updated to official when the GSI files release?
wait for it broo! You'll get it soon!

I read about that and Moto X4 Android One will get 9.0 update sure.
The question is to know when X4's european owners receive this update.
According to Google:
"You’ll also get access to the latest updates from Android, such as Android Oreo before the end of the year. Android One moto x4 will be among the first to receive an upgrade to Android P."

The official announcement of eligible Motorola phones that will get Android P will be made here: https://blog.motorola.com/

We already know that Moto X4 equipped with Android One will have Android P update but the question is to know if Moto X4 with Android Oreo standard will receive Android Pie.
On the other hand, the Motorola's blog in order to know updates news is the worst place where you can get report updates as they do not report anything at all.
Well, it looks like Motorola's blog just announced that Pie will be available this fall:
"...Android Pie will be served up on the below Motorola smartphones starting this fall:
...
moto x4"
https://blog.motorola.com/2018/08/15/baked-android-pie-coming-motorola/
My bets are that:
1. This only applies to Android One. Regular X4s will get it next year.
2. "This fall" means by the end of the calendar year.

The american retail variant are receiving updates at the same time as the Android One does, I think Android Pie will come together, but only for the american variant.
Friends,
I bought xz1c vida online and it is hk variant. I see the os is android 8 and don't see an update for pie. Any reason why I don't see pie update ?

Because Customized HK is still on Oreo. Check at https://xpericheck.com/device/G8441

It probably will be upgraded at some time. No idea when though. For some reason only some localizations are on Pie and the rest are postponed...
You could flash Pie manually if you are desperate to get it, but it mught be better to wait at least if you want to be sure everything works like it's supposed to and are not accustomed to Android flashing etc.

As Vofferz said . It *probably* will. Updates are released by regions. If there are some bugs, Sony may stop the update and/or not release the same update to other regions.
There are no detailed release notes for any new update (as I know of) so we can't be sure what were those bugs and reasons for stopping/not releasing updates for some region.
I'm on Customized DE and I also don't have the Pie (yet). But, I'm happy with my phone the way it is.
Pie upgrade may bring some good stuff (newer API), but also some bad things (like clock on the left-hand side and audio buttons default to media). Also, there were those possible bugs. (Some are mentioning GPS bugs etc.)
But if you must have the newest OS on your device, there is a way to flash Sony ROM from different region to your own device. To do that, you can use Newflasher and Xperifirm tools. Search for them on this forum. But I wouldn't recommend flashing if you're not experienced.
Huawei started Beta testing program for our P smart in China. That includes only the chinese models for now. What do you think guys? Will be the EMUI 9 released globally for P smart?
It has to receive Pie as P Smart is Android Enterprise Recommended device and Google mandates at least one major update for such devices

Yes, it doesn't matter if they have their skin over the Android they have to have one major update. Good thing is that P Smart came out with 8 so it has to be updated to 9.
When i had LG G6 people had the same concerns if it will receive 8, but then Google added G6 to that program and LG had to update it.

I got this message from EMUI fanpage:
"Thank you for your interest in EMUI 9.0. We are currently developing and testing EMUI 9.0 (based on Android 9 Pie) for Huawei P Smart and you will be receiving the update in June 2019."

P20 Lite just got working beta, I am using it right now and since the phone is almost exactly the same as P Smart 2018 I guess there will be a beta soon for it
It works just as 8.0 and it's stable.
Hello folks, I've (really!) not the time needed to write down a good guide BUT I'm happy to inform you that I've just set up a RETEU Moto Z2 dual SIM (XT1789-06) with stock Pie + TWRP + Magisk/root + EdXposed with integrity/safenet passed and Google Pay working fine.
Procedure it's not free of tricky steps but at the end is possible to obtain a stable system. :highfive:
Eventually interested (guys) can post here for needed details...
