Would anybody know any way to get better picture quality when sending a picture through text/messenger?
The picture looks nice in the gallery but when compressed too much it craps out :crying:
Anyone? Photos keep compressing and ruining quality for the most part
The quality of a photo sent through SMS is determined by the network protocol. They're generally going to be terrible. Use WhatsApp or a data service. Or email.

Hi all,
Sorry to have to post again I have been having great difficulty getting good pictures with the front camera, the weird thing is that when taking the picture it seems a little grainy as you would expect from a 2mp but after the photo has been taken they then change and look really fake looking like I'm made of play dough. I've tried turning all the extras off and it's still happening, help?
Bit of an update, my friend advised me to try getting snapchat as that capture the image straight away and it doesn't go through any processing and yes it's true the pictures taken using this are better.
Is there any camera app that doesnt do the processing as this is what seems to be ruining my pictures. I have tried the stock app, instagram and also pixlr.
I noticed when I get a message on hangouts the photo on the watch is pixelated. Is there a way to fix that? When i get calls the contact photo on the watch is fine so not sure why the hangouts photo looks pixelated.
No fix currently. Its pulling pictures from the phone notification (not the same as contact picture)... since notification pictures are much smaller, their resolution is much lower. There is currently no fix Hopefully their will be.
I took some pictures this last weekend while on vacation and the pictures didn't seem to come out very clear at all. I was going through the photos again today and noticed there seems to be a bug in the photos app that is not processing the photos or showing them in full detail. I can zoom into one of my pictures and right away the phone would clear up the photo and I could zoom back out and the photo would then be real clear and a good looking shot. Scrolling through shots without zooming in and back out made all the pictures look poor quality. Here is an before and after. I tried clearing data on on the photos app and still the same. Anyone else having this issue?
So we are hearing anecdotal evidence that the front camera has the classic softening, and this is causing video calls to look awful. Your picture will have no detail.
Anyone is able to test and post some screenshots?

I've had the phone since yesterday and the issue with front cam is limited to video calls and not photos or videos taken by the camera app or even 3rd party apps. I took photo using Camera app with front camera and compared to my Note 10 Plus and they are comparable (Note is slightly better):

I suspect the videocall issue has something to do with Sony not enabling some standard API that apps can use to access full camera features so they default to basic camera quality. I hope they fix in software updates! This is the only issue I found about the phone otherwise pretty solid flagship and I'm so glad I'm out of Samsung world.
My video chats with Facebook Messenger look nice sharp, according to the other party and from what I can see.
