I really want to learn a new language therefore I am searching for the ideal way to do it
and what better place is there than xda to ask!
where there are so many people from all around the globe!
so do you know any good place to begin? like any specific...
software
website
app
any other
Not sure how good rosetta stone is.
If you've got time and money, you can check out EF. I'm considering this as we speak.
Do you have a tablet, an iPad perhaps? There are a few "good" (never tested them myself ) apps for learning languages for a tablet.
My best bet is Google Translate. Although, it mixes up and messes up the words at times, it can actually be pretty effective.

But can it also learn you the grammar of a new language? I sometimes translate something from a foreign language to Dutch (just for the fun of it) and it doesn't make much sense most of the time....
Google translate won't really teach you that good.

Use Anki for Japanese, or so I've been told.
Best way to learn it is to uproot yourself and live there. Do not speak your own native language, only theirs and soon you'll get the nuances.

hi everbody
i searched the web for almost 3 hours now.
in the music video there was some kids maybe 14,15 performed this song, ..they danced on there houses. the language was spanish, ...thats all i remember. it was a summer hit here in austria, ..germany
maybe somebody can help me.
cheerz, ugrubni
Can you remember any of the lyrics? I usually do a lyrics search when I want to find a song. Even just a few words is usually enough to get you started.
no, i just remember that it was around 2003 2004 and there was some kids dancing on the roof of there houses, ...it was in summer and the language was spain
i want this song for my little sis to play it on her birthday party, ..she always danced to this when she was a kid
Have you tried looking at compilation albums from around that time? Do you even know if you'd recognise the name if you heard it?
yes, i searched some compilations from 2001 to 2005 but i found nothing, ..i am 99% sure i would recoginze it if i hear the name of the band or the title
i think a spanish guy here would know it, ..maybe somebody will check this thread, ...it was very popular in spain 2 i think
I've got no other ideas then mate. Good luck - I hope you find it.

I am not sure what to learn. I started learning French a while back, it was quite hard. Haven't officially given up but I've not studied it for over a year now... I still can understand very simple texts, but can hardly speak it, and man the dictation is a pain in the a$$! I'm not sure to continue French or start a new one, like German, or Italian?
What do you think?
Any practical reason, or just to challenge yourself?
In my case, living in southern California, USA, Spanish is almost a must. No other language would be of any use....well, maybe some Asian languages, but Spanish sound easier

Well, you already have the advantage of being bilingual, so you could probably learn faster than someone like me. The little bit of Spanish I do know gets me by, but I'm just too embarrassed to speak it. I never feel like I'm saying it right.

Agreed, we have on our Country Spanish as 1st language and English 2nd. I've heard on other countries that spanish is a must, contrary to french.and Portuguese as 3 or 4 years ago.

What is tricky for me though was being raised on the east coast. The Spanish they teach there is the Puerto Rico dialect. When I moved to California, I realized how different it is. So the 4 years I spent learning Spanish is almost of no use now. Ahh well.

Spanish is necessary for America but I don't see myself going there. I prefer Europe.
I'm thinking of these languages:
1. French, I know a little (very little, but still), It's a nice language, but quite hard.
2. German, I don't know why but I like it. Easier than French too.
3. Italian, I like it. Easier than French.
I'm not really into Spanish...

My ancestry is German. I've been interested in learning it.

French is a matter of getting the specifics down. It's kind of odd at first in that different endings on verbs are pronounced the same way, having to add consonance only if there's a vowel following certain words, using possessive adjectives that modify the thing they are possessing, not the owner. Just starting it but I love it.
I think Spanish will be my next language because I have a number of friends from South America. Going to learn German eventually because I must visit the home of the VW Audi Group someday.
I would ask to learn spanish.. or italian.. i love both of these languages..
Don't forget to hit 'THANKS' if I helped..

I feel like you should probably finish French, once you know one language the second one that is similiar (like French and Italian) is much easier. I know a fair bit of French and could pick up basic Italian (enough to get by) within a few days.

French...
It isn't that difficult
For a challenge though, try arabic...
Typed on a small touchscreen
Try Irish but I doubt they teach that over in the US. And no matter what they say, ITS NOT GØD DAMN GAELIC!
Its quite easy to learn apart from the verbs, they may be difficult
You are all fools. Chinese, learn Chinese. You won't regret it in 20 years when the whole west is named "The United States Of China".
Also, it's a HUGE plus to have chinese as a second or third language when you want to find a highly paid tech job in Singapore or whatever.

If you want some challenge, try Portuguese. Verbs in English have 3 possible ways, and most of them applies to all the pronouns. In Portuguese, you have AT LEAST 9 different verbs times and one for each pronoun ( Me, you, he/she, we, them and he/she ( plural))

I am looking for some help.
I have an unlocked Note. CM9 is installed. Apps are all updated.
I was on straight talk in the states. Now that I am traveling a bit (currently in the middle east) i am using a local SIM card to make phone calls / use data.
Its working great - besides the fast that the data is way past slow.
The only problem is that the phone region locked me out of the TV/Movies (google play) that I bought / downloaded.
Does anyone know how I can continue to use the local sim card while maintaining access to my google play media?
Thanks! :good:

dont know how they go about traveling and counties unsupported even thought you bought in a supporting country.
I did read there is a tamprred version supposedly disabling country check but not sure if it will help in this case.
I think the purchases are linked to account, and not sim/emei. But not sure about that.

All that I could find through that link is that I need to update my apps.
I did - everything is up todate, but they still dont work. I am guessing they are just region locked.
This really sucks. My entertainment package is down. :crying:
same happened to me, downloaded movies in Google Play, paid for them, got inside plane, landed in Germany and no movies played. Only message this video is not supported in your country. Called Google, unfortunately they said once you leave US it stops working, same of the movies purchased in US are still not even playing in theatres overseas etc. Offered me to refund the money. This really really sucks, I don't know why they even bother to introduce this Google feature, if you can use it only in one country.
yes, stupid country rights, protectionism, etc. I dont understand the whole regionalization, costs more, is more maintanence, and slowers update speeds. Make a global platform, we live global nowadays anyways.

Well at least I know everyone else is having the same problem.

Really annoyed. I rented and downloaded a lot of movies thinking.. brilliant... while I am in the middle of nowhere in Bangladesh I can at least enjoy some films. Very annoyed.
there is a way of tricking google play, it might work

First of all..USA, my country is not stupid okay? Before you call something stupid you need to read our bill of rights nd ammendments for which my country is founded upon. I could call your country "Full of ****" but before I do that. I have to know, understand and absorb fully well why I said so. Irresponsible marks can put you in jail in some parts of the world you know. "Ignorance to the Law" excuses NO ONE!. that is at least how we have it here. (not sure in your part of the world though).
Your Google Account speaks of your information to where you are.. So even if you change your country (in your Account settings), you still can't fool Google on your current location (if your outside of the U.S.)
And apart from that, Google movies and books were never in the first place launch internationally. It was just here in the States that Google decided so. Not sure why they did that but you can maybe blame Google and not the country itself. Just like Apple.. Most american companies pets their people first before giving it to others. Not to be a racist or something but that is just how it is. Yeah we have our congressmen and senators always imposing laws about the internet and stuff but they're just as well protecting to the best interest of the American people. And to be honest, I don't necessarily support all of their actions okay?(like the SOPA thing) but it doesn't warrant me saying that USA sucks already.
Again.. Blame Google not the Country.. If Google says that google books and movies are only for your country then fine.. I don't question why it's only in your country..so be it. I don't trash talk why your country was given that preference only.. Now again, the question why you can't read books and watch movies in Google is not the fault of the country itself. Blame Google for setting up their servers on U.S. soil. And quit whining..USE a US free VPN (if you can get around with it) to perhaps use these feature...if you still can't get anything out of it then your'e out of luck and just better shut up and stop complaining.

thank you for speaking your mind I respect that.
What I wrote was having regionally set things up is stupid, not your Country, I think you misread that. Just companies policies. Its not only Google, but Blackberry, Samsung actually almost all companies.
What in my opinion makes Googles policies extra stupid is inhibiting functionality, if you live in USA you can use the movies and music, but if you happen to travel, your not alowed to use the functionality anymore in a unsupported country.

So I'm new with android, and the Moto X. I come from a long line of Nokia dumb phones so please forgive my ignorance.
I got the moto x yesterday, and it has changed my understanding of what a phone can be. But I never thought it would go this far....
First it told me where my house was, and how long it would take me to arrive. That was odd enough. Then last night a friend called me and texted me setting up a dinner date. I said sure I would go, then I proceeded to search up the menu of said restaurant.
The next thing I know I have a tile on my home screen telling me how long it would take me to arrive at the resturant.
No interaction, no Facebook invite, no nothing.
So how in the hell does this phone know so much about me??
Cool and all, just confused.

That my friend, is the awesome power of Google Now.
Yep. Google does track your locations, but you agreed to it. It keeps a tab on your most common locations, so after time, it'll figure out where your work and where you live.

Also, if you do searches using Google on your computer Google now will catch it and ve you the same directions you just searched for on your phone. Its really quite nice. If you get an email to your gmail account with shipping info google now will keep track of your package for you too.
I just wish Google would implement the Gmail stuff for the built-in (at minimum) email client. Not everyone uses Gmail and thus they lose out on, IMO, most useful options of Google Now.

As others have said, Google builds an 'ecosystem' - if you use Chrome on your desktop and you sign in, and you sign in to Chrome on your phone and tablet, when you search on one, it will propogate not only your bookmarks but also your recent searches.
It's a little creepy at first, and I think also a reminder that someone is always watching, but it's also very convenient. It's great for me to search for a place on my PC browser, hop into my car, and have my phone tell me how far away I am and with one tap get turn-by-turn navigation.
Welcome to the world of Android and the moto X and enjoy!
