If I buy the phone, how long should I expect the phone to get OTA updates?

Probably through 2018. Beyond that, you'd need a custom ROM.
I have the Nexus 5 which I bought with v4 and now I am on v6 and thats it. So I can assume the OP3t will receive Android O and not beyond that?
When next Oneplus phone gets released, the 3 and 3t will be pretty much left in the shadow just the like the 2 is now, getting N in a couple of months and then it's the end of the road.

Will Google ends support for 2 year old nexus 7..??
Can we see next major android version (4.5/5.0) for our grouper..??

Official will probably stop when the last revision of KitKat is released. However no one really knows but Google. Worst case in a week after 4.5 or 5.0 is released (if those are to be believed) source will be pushed to AOSP and everyone here will be building ROMs.
I mean even my old Kindle Fire (otter) runs Pac-Man 4.4.2...
While my Nexus 5 and 7 (2012 grouper) are both running 4.4.3

Bit dubious about post-Google updates myself. NVidia has no track record of being friendly to supporting the development community when they aren't forced to. Once Google stops providing binary blob updates, you can bet NVidia will forget that this tablet ever existed and developers will have nothing to work with to support future hardware upgrades.
Either that, or I'm still just a bit bitter over the Tegra 2 G2X.

I hear you there
But I have hope
Our Nexus 7 will prevail through it all!
Maybe then we will have some brave soul working on Nvidia 3.4.35 kernel for tegra3
This can be a good starting point
this is the last update.....
Very likely the last update, though people don't have the same upgrade path for tablets that they do for phones, you won't necessarily change it as regularly.
It's not like your contract is up after 2 years and you get another one.
I'm not planning on getting another tablet any time soon, so longer support would be great, though I doubt it'll happen.

Nexus 7 never received a useful update anyway.
Every single update made the tablet slower and more buggy.
So it is a good thing not to have updates anymore. Nothing to worry about there.

I'd disagree as the 4.3 update was good adding TRIM which sped things up for my Nexus

:highfive: 4.3 was a very solid version. When I put my Nexus 4 back in daily driver service for a short while, 4.4 had been out for some time, but I went to 4.3 due to the reliability and smooth feel...

You're wrong.
You can still find Nexus 7 2012 for sale... not at Google Play, however.
IMHO - the last KitKat update will be the end of service life for Nexus 7 2012. N7 2013 will get through the L named release.
Looking very much like 4.4.3 will be the last 'official' update, based on the below news...
4.4.3 is running well on my N7, so can't complain too much, plus there are plenty of custom ROMs and mods to play with. Just wonder how this will affect future custom ROMs/ports as they will be created to run with ART and so possibly a no-go... :crying:

Why are we not getting any beta updates?
Beta for 3T will come after final release for 3.
Simply because there are more oneplus 3's in customers hands than 3T.....But I think they could unify now with beta 10, the timeframe is off for Nougat before end of month, with Beta 10 just dropped.
But patience is a great thing.....I'm not to fussed as I like Xposed for a few things (not currently available on Nougat) So they can take as long as they need.....

Not sure why people is so hyped for new updates and stuff.from what i've seen on internet, there are not too many changes on android 7 than we have now on 6, except the dpi which for me seems to be a nice thing to have, but not that important. you guys need to learn how to enjoy your beautiful phone, without being hyped for the updates. If they release early, it will be full of bugs and then you will curse them.better wait 1-2 or 3 months more and fix all those issues, instead of receiving a faulty update which will ruin my beautiful 3t experience.

Hi everyone,
With Lunar New Year drawing close, we'd like to wish you all a great year ahead. In light of this festive season, we will be pausing the Open Beta releases for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T for a month. We’re looking forward to picking back up where we left off - working closely with the community to keep trying new things and develop the best OS around - after this break. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Cheers and Never Settle.

There won't be any updates at all on 4.0.2 or betas. The staff are going on holiday and they're gonna be celebrating Chinese new year or whatever that is. So one month no updates, which is fine

Not sure it'll be an entire month, they're just giving a heads up that the traditional every 15 day routine for the beta won't be followed. They may release a bug fix or two though.

Great news, but I will have replaced my OP3 with the OP5 or a Pixel XL long before they ever release Android O for the OP3... haha
As long as OP release 1 version of O, that is rock solid with good battery life I will be happy. From that point they just need to give us the security updates.
I know many of you will expect more, but I accept that we paid much less for our phones and OP are a small company who will probably put 90% of there resources on the OP5.

I'll be excited about the caf based Roms like vertex once kernel source drops. Maybe OnePlus will have EAS built into the kernel along with it too. Only time will tell

They had promised updates for 2years and also replied to various comments on Facebook telling they will soon provide the update.
But this time their CEO has promised android O so I strongly feel we will get the update.
Nevertheless, keep calm and wait for android Oreo(hopefully) :fingers-crossed:

Does it matter? No sooner the upgrade will posters start to moan about Pie? Happens every upgrade. We have Oreo and its stable, enjoy it. Enjoy your Note 9.

Honestly all they need to fix is Exynos battery. I always hated Samsung for slow updates but quite honestly they always had majority of features before they were even introduced to stock Android
I think we're going to get Android Pie right after the Galaxy S10 launches. They wouldn't dare launch it with Oreo on board.

Easy answer. After galaxy s10. If u look at samsung history they have always waited for their flaship device to arrive and shipped with their new version os without ipgrading their pass decives. Why would a note 9 be release with 8.1 while gs9 plus is still running 8.0. They are basically same phone hardware wise. Samsung dont care about updating their old hardware, they care releasing their new hardware with their new software to give people a bigger reason of why u should upgrade. After the honemoon is over then they will release it to their old hardware.
Sorry to burst your bubble but I think early 2019 is great considering they need to smooth everything out before pushing a new software upgrade. Until then we just sit back and enjoy our powerhouse device.
