Hello guys!
About a month ago i bought Oneplus 3t 128GB, and the phone is amazing!
The only thing which is a major turnoff is the music.
I have copied all my songs from my LG G3 to my OP3T VIA my PC.
All files are MP3 or MP4 format.
When i try to play a music using "Google play music" is says "No downloaded music"
I've refreshed the library, deleted the cache off the app using settings, copied my songs to:
"Internal storage=>data=>com.google.android.music" and still NADA!
i've entered the folder itself using file manager - from there i can play the files using GPM.
After a while i thought using a different music app so i've downloaded poweramps - the exact same phenomenon.
from the app itself its not showing any music, directly from the folder using file manager the app plays the song.
i went back to the settings=>apps and made sure that both application has storage permissions.
reset the permission just in case, re-opened the apps and gave the permissions when prompted - Issue remains.
so i've downloaded VLC and here is the kicker!
By selecting Audio i get "no media files found"
If i go to the menu of the app=>directories=>data=>com.google.android.music i can see all of my 320 songs and i can play any one of them.
However! if i try to choose that folder as a prefered music folder by:
menu=>preferences=>directories=>SAME PATH=> Directory is empty!!
How is that possible?!?!
of course i tried moving all the songs to a different folder "Internal storage=>Music" and nothing.
I am at a loss, this is really wrecking my brains here
The phone is new!(minus the 2 months that i have him)
Please assist

Try wiping Data from 'Media Storage' in your Apps list. Restart phone and see if it helped.
Couldn't find the "media storage" that you were referring to so I downloaded "media rescan" and accessed it from there.
Deleted the data and rebooted the phone.
Didn't work
What if you just move the files to a folder in the main directory of the internal storage? Google Play Music can see my files just fine, with my MP3's in a couple different folders in the main directory.
Thanks for the reply
Already tried that by putting them in "storage ==>Music"
Unfortunately it didnt work...

Very new to the NC which I am running with CM7.0.0 encore from SD
So today I tried to move a folder of images using Samba. Everything seemed to transfer fine as the folder and images appeared on the SD under pictures folder.
When I used the gallery app to view the images the folder was not there. So I used file manager to look at the folder and expanded it. I opened the folder and a picture and then file manager just froze on the image.
I rebooted and opened Gallery again and the folder was there but when I tried to open it view the images I kept getting a force close. File Manager also kept creating a forced close. Rebooted and the same so I went back into Samba and deleted the folder.
Anyone have any suggestions to what may be going wrong?
I find the file manager app preloaded with gaaps seems to be lacking and wonder what else is recommended.
Came across a post recommending Quickpic app and loaded it and must say it seems much better than the Gallery app.
Still would be interested in hearing what others consider a terrific file manager app.
Hello.
I know,there is a few questions about this,but I didn't found the solution yet.
When I want to choose a ringtone, the list shows only "Silent" option, even tough, there are some items in the folders.
The problem is also when I want to choose notification sound and ringtone sound.
Maybe it has a dependency with Media scanner, which I have uninstalled unfortunately.
Please, how should I solve this? Maybe I can install Media scanner back, but don't have the apk anymore.
Edit: the same issue with alarms...
Is this the .apk you deleted?
Media provider:

I assumed that is the one, if not let me know to check if I have it.
Hope that helps bro.

Hi,
I have had the same thing happen. I chose "Clear Data" under Settings->applications->All->Media Storage when I was trying to fix a different problem with the Music player having duplicates. It fixed that issue but seems to have taken out the ringtones and alarms. I have the German ICS Samsung update installed - can I still install the above apk to fix the ringtones?
Yesterday I have restored an old backup(CWM) and I took out MediaProvider.apk from there.
Then I have restored the current ROM and copied to system/app. Doesn't help. No media scanning after all.
So I will try to flash again my current ROM image(from zip) and then I will restore my apps. We will see.
With media scanner I did following:
- installed Root Uninstaller
- freezed MediaProvider.apk
- I was unable to unfreeze it,so I deleted that from system.
- don't really know,if the issue starts at this point or not.
EDIT:
I solved this by performing reflashing my custom ROM and restoring my apps with Titanium Backup.
Conclusion: Media scanner is important.
Hi all,
I have a very annoying issue with the Walkman App. This happened a couple of days ago.
The app shows the song title, the album name but the artist name for all of my mp3s display "unknown artist" (and in some cases, the artist name gets jumbled with another).
Now these are what I've already done but have not worked at getting back the correct Walkman App behaviour:
1.) Checked my files if anything has changed - all IDv3 tags are correct (I sampled about 15% of my mp3s and check each album folder).
2.) I backuped all of my files, reformated my memory card and restore it; still same behaviour
3.) Went to my app, cleared cache and data files - no dice.
4.) Reverted to the original app version - no dice.
5.) Then re-updated to Walkman App version 8.1.A.0.3 - no dice.
6.) I've checked my memory card for malware using Malwarebytes - no dice.
*update*
7.) I've installed the latest Google Play Music app - no dice
I'm stumped - I don't want to spend any more time on hit and miss.
Anyone out there who can help?
Here's my phone config:
Xperia Z (no root)
Sandisk 64GB ultra microsd class 10
Walkman App version 8.1.A.0.3
Model #: C6603
Android Version: 4.3
Build Number: 10.4.1.B.0.101
Okay so I don’t know whether problem is actually with the permissions so I’ll just post the details below.
My phone is rooted and I have TWRP.
I had a lot of apps on my phone and it was getting slow. So I decided to factory reset it. I went to the settings and factory reset the phone. While rebooting, the TWRP screen flashed and the phone reboot. But some of the folders in the internal storage were deleted. The Camera and WhatsApp images folders were still there. The Downloads and Bluetooth folders were deleted. I use Quick Pic gallery app. I could see the Camera and WhatsApp images via Quick Pic. But when I navigated to that particular folder using a file manager, the folders were empty. Even when I connected the phone to my PC using a data cable, the camera folder was empty. I know the files are there because I could see the size of the internal storage. When I open Quick Pic, I get a message “not an error (code 0): could not open database in read/write mode“. I can’t copy any files to the internal storage also. When I tried to copy a song to the ringtones folder in internal storage, the copy failed with the message, “Open Failed: EACCESS (Permission denied)”.
So I did some research and thought that the problem was with the internal storage permission. So I went to TWRP and clicked on “Fix Permissions”. The phone got stuck at the moto boot animation. So I downloaded the stock ROM and flashed it. The phone boots now but the old problem is still there. Apps keeps force closing. Whenever I take a pic, I get a message saying the gallery app has stopped. Instagram and Smart Voice Recorder keeps force closing as soon as I open them.
I don’t know what to do. Please help me. If there’s any other info that I need to provide, please let me know.
Thanks a lot!
