Hello everybody,
I have recently bought a Z3 Compact and noticed the blurry camera problem a lot of others have mentioned on this forum. Since the only solution to that was replacing the phone via Sony service, and I can't do that because I bought the device from eBay (warranty is kind of included, but I'm not fond on sending the phone back and having to pay 100 eur for customs and maybe getting back a phone with the same fault).
My previous phone was Z1C, but the screen is broken; so I figured maybe I could take the camera module out of the Z1C and install it into the Z3C... would that be possbile? My greatest concern is that the Z3c won't recognize the camera module.
Anyone have experience with such stuff?
Thank you for your answers in advance
I don't really have experience with repairs etc. , but ,in my opnion, you can't do something like that, as z1 compact's screen is 4.3 inches while z3 compact's screen is 4.6 inches.
Edit: I'm sorry, i thought you meant that you wanted to replace the screen of your z3c with z1c. My fault.
Is compatible I have not had problems except that the flex cable is longer

Hi all,
I want to buy the xperia z1 this days, but im afraid it will have the same problems as te orginial z.
The most im afraid of are the cracked backs and fronts out of the sudden whitout dropping and lose backplates?
Are there already people who have this problems, cuz i cant find one on google yet.
Grtz
I don't have it yet but the new bezel is Metal I believe (aluminium to be specific? not sure) so its going to be more durable than the original Xperia Z.
Haven't have any issues with either Z or Z1. I don't think the problem was very big to begin with. You're more likely to hear from someone who has a problem than someone who hasn't had an issue since day one so it may seem like it's riddled with defects.
Problem wasn't big?
There's forums and blogs everywhere reporting the back plate starting to raise due to heat. That's one reason I got rid of my xz. My network and Sony would only repair it. Personally it's a major flaw in the design
Just got a Z Ultra about 10 days ago... awesome phone, I love most things about it.
However, I'm finding it a little too big for normal everyday use... I came from a Note 3, so am used to bigger phones, but the Ultra might just be maybe too big for me - or might just be a matter of getting used to it. And, as many know, the camera on the Ultra is pretty bad - also, the size of it makes it kind of awkward to take a quick snapshot with anyways.
So I'm thinking about the Z1, and in my case, the Z1s would probably be the best option (I'm already on T-mobile pre-paid and need LTE).
But then the problem with that is, the locked bootloader and no root (yet). This is basically what brought me to the Ultra to begin with.
I got the Ultra at a Sony retail store and have about 20 days left to exchange it. I paid full price for the Ultra, so exchanging for the Z1s would be almost an even trade.
So, given the circumstances, any advice? Has anyone come from a Z Ultra and happy they made the switch? Or regret it?
Thanks.
I come from z ultra...and i am bot regretting it...though i dont know why but i like the screen on ultra more...z1 screen is bit washed off as conpared to z ultra...and i like ooption of tiny font size and tiny folder icon size on z ultra...not on z1...
No differenct in sound output...both are bad...
But z1 is better regarding size as now i can use it while running and at gym and anywhere...
But z ultra is more sexy looks wise...so slim...
Camera better on z1....

I am constantly fighting between the 2. I got the ultra first and loved it until picture time and portability came the ultra lost. The z1 on the other hand is more practical for me as I love to capture pictures and browse. 5.3 - 5.5 z 2 with same optics or better will be the ideal size.

Hi !
I'm looking to replace my dead Xperia S with a more "tough" phone. I almost bought an Xperia SP, successor of the S, changed the decision at the last minute as the SP users told me about how bad its camera is.
So, is there any deal breakers like a bad camera or something like that for ZR ?
I heard a lot of complaints about a loose micro usb port, is that a majour concern ?
Thanks !
Happy Easter BTW

That means I should get it ?
I'm getting a phone today and the choices for me are Xperia ZR, SGS 4, SGS 4 mini, Lg L90, Moto X, BB Z10.
I'm looking for a tough phone with a good camera and a decent battery backup.

I am user of Xperia ZR C5502.far better than Xperia SP.ZR has better camera, sound and battery other than that it is dust and water resistance.
Well I can say that i am very happy with my xperia zr. I would recommend it anyone who asks. Its very good for tough use, i actually dropped mine a couple of times but no major damage or scratches. Tried taking pictures while in the pool and it was really clear and nothing happened to the phone. Although the screen is unresponsive when wet, Hence the need to put a shutter button on the side. Try watching video reviews on the phones you are interested in then make a decision from which function and features you really need. In the end it all depends on what you want. Goodluck! Hope you become a xperia zr user soon!
Ps. Xperia zr is getting an update at the month of may. So its also something to look forward to.

I am a ZR user from almost an year now (i bought mine when it was fresh out on the stores) I could say if you clean the flaps you wont have any problems at all. Some people where complaining from a BT problems but maybe they cant handle the options (no problems for me).Since the price is low now you can go for it its a deal
bad front camera.
I m using xperia zr from 6months and its working great 100% water resistance washing my phone in every 3-4 day picture quality is gud , fast .camera is not that gud compare to samsung note2 otherwise its a vert gud phone in 27k
i have it since middle 2013 and it works like a charm
very fast,very good battery,strong,water prof,acceptable price
recommend it
Nothing extraordinary!
well, the camera is nice in well-lit conditions. But the performance is poor in low light.
Secondly, the internal memory is too low, but that shouldn't make a difference if you are thinking to root the device.
Thanks guys for the replies but I got a ZR in the mean time.
Its fast but after using good quality ips monitor, the screen of zr is underwhelming. The LG L90 demo unit had a better looking screen in terms of colour and contrast.
But yeah, the ZR is a good alrounder !
btw, I have an OTA update notification, 10.3.1.A.2.67. Should I go ahead and update it ?
Or is there any download link for an Indian version of that firmware ?6
if your phone is working good, then don't update. stock 4.3 has been terrible for me. pretty much every voice recording app broke (facebook, viber, audio messaging).
i'm hoping kitkat update in may will fix it.
Even i am looking forward to buy Xperia ZR but it seems in INdia there are no stocks in the shops and they say the production has stopped...and i read that there were heating issues.....this is bothering me..... so if the users of Xperia ZR confirm that the phones is worth buying and there are no such issues then i will go for it...and i intend to keep this phone for another 4 years...so any views?
dont worry about heating
I got a ZR over a month ago. I am very happy with it. There is no need to worry about heating issues.
I live in hyderabad where the temperature is very high (i wont say it's the highest in the world). When I play games for more than 30 minutes i had felt the device getting heated up - I just wipe it with cold water or pour a bit of cold water and it cools down - it is a waterproof phone after all.
The only drawback of the phone is the front camera (0.3 mega pixel) . But i never use video calling so that's fine with me.

UPDATE: I put my phone in the water :silly: and now its sitting in the service center at the moment. Its been two weeks and they are saying they need to get a confirmation from their HQ to replace it under the Accident Cover Insurance (promo offer from Sony).

Hey guys,
I need a new Phone because my old one (xperia sp) died of water damage...
I made a list and now I've removed the LG G2 (no expandable storage, only 16gb model available) and the S4 VE (too much issues on custom roms). And the only Phone left is the xperia Z1!
Does the xperia Z1 still perform well? It has a cm12 build now, is it stable for daily driver use? Should I give sony another try because the xperia SP is an absolute POS it lagged like crazy, even on custom roms!
It is water proof so I can't kill my Phone again and it seems like a very nice Phone!
Any issues with the device?
thanks,
noahvt
i my self have xperia sp, and looking to buy xperia z1
my friend has one, and it's uncomparable to sp
lightning fast phone, all my attempts to make it lag failed lol, if you buy second hand, mak sure it still has sonylogo, beceause it's ugly without it , camera is superb, my sp's camera feels like a vga camera next to z1 camera
also all z1 phones have touch screen issues when the phone gets little hot from use, your screen will respond to ghost touches, so you have to turn it odd, then on and continue using it

Just got my Z1 put cm12 on there and I'm happy as hell! Best phone I have ever had! No lag at all! Almost got the same antutu score as 1+1! So happy I didn't get the one, got a device with much better build quality and similar performance!
I also came from an XSP. i bought my z1 at december and i happy with it. The price was good, and the phone is a beast.
did anyone face some ghost touches ?

My mobilephone information: Xperia Z1 (C6903), Stock 14.6.A.1.236, 5.1.1, rooted with kingoroot, i don't know locked or unlocked
thanks in advance for your reply
have you oppened the device? happened to me when i changed the display, it was due to the heat on the back cover that i aplyed too close to the camera when i removed the back glass panel.
resolved it by buying a new one on ebay. i Bought first a chinese camera, but quality was ver bad, second was a refurbished one i sent from uk and works perfectly now
