Can't modify anything in Internal AND External storages. - Lenovo A7000 Questions & Answers

Greetings,
First, let me introduce myself:
I'm an owner of Lenovo A7000+, have root access to my phone for over a year, yet, unlike most of you, I'm merely a mortal. . Anyhow, I hope you guys can help me out..
So, onto my problem:
There was no warning, whatsoever. I didn't do anything with my phone at the time, but SOMEHOW, I can no longer modify files (be it add, erase, or edit. So guess what, I can't use my camera.) in both my Internal AND External storages. I found out when I tried to download an attachment my fella sent me. I tried to make sure, of course, by trying to download a simple google picture. As you guys can guess -surprise, surprise!!- it didn't work. As it turns out, I can only erase and move my files using Root Explorer.
I tried to modify the permission, tried to connect my phone to PC (Which turns out, no disk detected by the Windows Explorer) as someone said to check the FAT, tried to input some sort of command via Terminal... Nothing worked.
So there's that, I hope someone will stumble upon this post and hopefully can help me (read: N00B), and I'm REALLY, REALLY begging anyone that got solutions to help me, so I can use my phone again and ride my bike towards the sunset.
Good day.

I faced the same problem but i finally found a solution by myself

att TILT erased all my data on the SD Card

Hi All
I had stored all my data and some apps on my 4gb Sandisk SD card and all of a sudden all the data from the card is gone. I notice error messages of applications like google map etc that i had installed on the Sd card when they were trying to run they could no longer see the files. IS there a fix for this problem? I see i n other places they decribe a lengthy procedure including buying some softwares for restoring data, however if i do that i think the data can vanish anytime again. I also see others complaining about this,, please let me know if there is any other easy way to restore data, and how can i permanently fix the problem? does att help??
Put the card in your computer, see if you can run a disk check on it.
I've had my SD card 'look blank' or not even show up on the Tilt three times since I've owned it and all three times I did a filesystem check and it found errors. Once corrected, the card was fine again.
Yeah, you need to find out a little more information as to what is going on.
First off figure out if it is the phone or the card that is the problem.
Remove the card and find some other way of reading it. It could be something as simple as a bad connection on the terminal pins. Maybe clean them or see if they are bent out of place.
Maybe the card has bad sectors. Doing what khaystsus said will help you find that out.
At any rate, there are alot of things that could cause the same problems so a little more investigation and information is needed for anyone to help you any further.

Thanks I will try with the computer, ,but this is not a isolated problem if you do a search in google, you will see very many people complaining of the same thing.

Of course this is not an isolated problem -- this can happen on any WM phone. given the right conditions
It happened several times on my old ETEN.
One culprit is if you run the tweak to store your IE cache files on the card instead of internal memory -- this has been known to corrupt the card.
Other things can happen also -- which is why I backup my card at least once a week.

Loosing access to 4GB Flash when connecting as USB disk

Hello there
As this is my first post here, allow me to thank you all for a great forum, with loads of help and interesting applications. You've certanly made my life better
I've searched for this but had no luck in finding anything similar, so please excuse me if there is an old thread outthere, and help me find it.
My problem is that I've primarily used Active sync to connect to my PC and have transferred much music, programs and other stuff through this channel.
Now I have become interested in using my Diamond as a usb pen drive for my car radio etc. and also want to use it to move files from place to place.
I change the usb connection type to Disk Drive, and connect the wire to the PC, and let it install drivers so that I can access the disk drive it detects.
But then I loose access to the 4 GB memory, and can only access the internal memory of the device. Neither from the phone itself, or from the PC.
I know it have worked previously, because I have tried it some time ago. But now it seems like it's broken down.
When I look at fileexplorer on the phone, the name of the folder just disappears as soon as the cable is attached!
What is wrong, and how do I fix it?
Needless to say the phone freaks out after this, since all my applications are installed on the extended memory, so nothing works anymore, but a soft reset and it's all back to normal. Untill I try the connection again :-/
As mentioned, there is no problem with Active sync connections.
I really hope you can help me with this, because it would make the phone even more useful to me.
That being said I DO love the phone, it really has the ability to do almost anything I'd like it to. Incredible!
Thank you in advance for your help, and for at great source of knowledge.
Best regards
Thomas Hansen
It's normal, the phones switchs the memory readable directly from PC, as a pen drive to gain more speed.
If u are using the USB Disk function, u can't read the memory in the phone, bcuz u don't have "inserted" into it...
Bye!

Thank you for you answer, but I probably wasn't clear enough about the problem:
The 4 GB flash memory is inaccessable from both PC and phone after I plug in the usb cable (it disappears), but I CAN access the "system memory" (where windows is installed) from both ends.
So no, I dont think that is what I am experiencing. I hope this made it more clear.
How do I fix my problem?
Thank you for your help though.
Best regards
Thomas Hansen
sounds like the 1st free drive letter on your system is reserved for a network path.
try to disconnect the network drive or map the USB Drive manually.
regards
Draque
ps: Try it on a complete different system if this doesnt work.
I had tried it on 4 different PCs, all running XP.
Have no network drives on this one.
But, I'm confused now...
Because now it works correctly...
It opens the correct folder, for the 4 GB storage card...
And the phone doesnt crash afterwards...
I suspect an "Insufficient User IQ" kind of error... I just don't know what I did wrong?
If I learn more about this wierd issue I will post it here, and if you have any info, please post it, because I dont know what went wrong...
But right now my problem is solved! Hope it stays like this!
Well, Thank you for your advise everybody.
Best regards
Thomas Hansen

Looking for advice/suggestions (Please)

I recently purchased a wizard/mda (tmobile) and have run into major problems trying to unlock and upgrade the device.
This forum is a wealth of information, but I have hit some major problems.
The main problem is being unable to unlock it.I researched various posts around here, and have not been able to get activesync working.I looked at various troubleshooting info from microsoft and around here as well and have not been able to sync the phone with my computer.
I thought that perhaps it may have something to do with the version of xp I have installed, after spending many hours (25+) trying to get it to work.I then tried on another couple of comps and still no luck.
I am beginning to suspect that the phone itself has a technical problem.I seen the workaround for transferring cab files between the comp and the phone, and am hoping that once I have a mini sd card there is some way to upgrade wm5 on the phone. Can I unlock the phone without syncing it, using a different technique?(perhaps bluetooth or ir?)
Looks like I will have to unlock the phone using an unlock code, without syncing to the computer, but I am looking for any and all suggestions that may help out. I even tried attaching files and emailing them to myself, but wm5 doesn't support attachments.
Throw a dog a bone, before he buries this phone!

Im not an expert into this - all I can give you is couple of general ideas - maybe something you already knew but I'll give it a try
IMHO flashing via BT or IR can't be done or could be very risky.
Did you try hard reset? No change? Did you try hard reset and then skip installing those cabs that are installed automatically after HR?
You could try to download software WM5Storage into your htc, install it, activate and then you can access your phone as USB mass storage device from your PC. I've used it with my SD card only but it looks as it could use internal memory of your phone too. With this you can check if the data can be transfered via the mini USB.
Does your PC see the phone? Saying something like "installing new device drivers" or something like that. Check device manager.
Can you charge the battery in your phone from usb?
Btw I can't remember exact process of unlocking/flashing - is it really necessary to have synced the device before unlocking/flashing?
Following up.....
Thanks for the ideas, MuF123.
Some time has gone by.....
I tried the hard reset, and that didn't make a difference.
I was able to sync via bluetooth using a friends laptop, but was unable to sync via usb on the same computer or on my own.
I installed WM5storage and my computer doesn't see it as a mass storage device, even though it charges the phone via usb.
I am looking at this:internal error 2356 activesync.cab that comes up when I try repairing activesync, but it was a dead end the first time around.(maybe the answer is deeper there somewhere?)
I really like the phone alot, i think i will try picking up some external memory, and see if i can't use one of those unlocking services to get it up and working with a local cellular provider.
Thanks,
Nacho

Media Player and Galley not recognizing anything from the external SD card

Firstly, let me begin by stating that I have in fact searched far and wide for the genesis of this issue across the far reaches of the internet and this forum alone. So if somehow I missed it by an inch, please inform me and I sincerely apologize.
Now, the issue I'm having is horrendously relative (if not identical) to this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=801651
I was running stock 2.1 on my Captivate rooted with z4root. I also installed the necessary files for One Click Lag Fix, but promptly uninstalled them when I came to the conclusion that I was just going to flash Perception 8. And so I did. I followed the guides, etc, to installing ROM Manager and Clockwork Recovery and was successful in all of it. However, my stock media player and even Winamp does not detect the files on my external micro SD card. It won't even display the pictures in the gallery. Also, the files still do display in the native and third party file managers. The only thing I have not tried yet is reformatting the card because like I stated before, I scanned quite a few forums about this issue and that was the most unsuccessful method to fixing this issue. I also searched my entire phone (Using Root Explorer and the like) for the .nomedia file and found several in various places and deleted all of them. Yet, to no avail. So my next move will be in fact to reformat the card and see if that works.
If I could obtain any insight from you knowledgeable lads, I would greatly appreciate it.

I had an issue once like this. Rebooting the phone did the trick.
I've rebooted about three or four times now I think with no success. Thank you though. I do sincerely appreciate you taking the time to respond. I don't like to post on forums too much anymore due to the insane amount of heat you get for not following their stipulations and guidelines right off the bat even when all you missed was something incredibly simple.

I tried unmounting both the external and internal sd cards and then remounting them. it worked for me. hopefully that helps.
So apparently I have to post eight times before I'm allowed to show images. Nevertheless, I thought I should take screen caps of the weird stuff.
This one is of how the music player is literally detecting multiple file paths with the same location:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/SephirothSnake89/snap20101213_181753.png
And here is a display of the multiple location:
img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/SephirothSnake89/snap20101213_181807.png
img.photobucket.com/albums/v338/SephirothSnake89/snap20101213_181821.png
Also, I cannot unmount the internal SD from any normal option in my phone. I'm beginning to think that all of my data should have been wiped when I flashed the ROM to begin with. But all of my internal SD card files were still intact. I just formatted the card and I'm about to reupload music, etc, to it.
Not using perception atm but I have seen this occur after flashing a rom, perhaps a bad flash as it is not a problem mentioned in that thread or try another rom
So, I went ahead and formatted the external SD card through the phone and it does in fact work again. However, I'm still having the issue of it replicating the file location for media within the music players. I tested it by deleting a song and now when I click on the other duplicate title it states:
The file does not exist.
Also, I have the widespread issue of Froyo not supporting WMA tags which sucks, but I'll manage my way around that I suppose. Figures the only thing I bar trying is the thing that works. Nevertheless, my qualms with the duplication of filepath still exist.
Any ideas?

{DELETE}A Little Help Needed

OK. So I need a good amount of help. I completed screwed up my phone. I was having issues with my G-mail account so I went to delete it. For some reason I was unable to. Told me I had to go into settings and reset the phone to default settings. I connected it to my computer and download a new Rom. I get a pop up on my screen and it asks me to if I want to format. I figured I don't need anything so why know. I had the 8GB SD Card and a different piece of storage for the important stuff.
Oh man. Apparently EVERYTHING is stored on the 8GB. Or there isn't separate storage. What ever it is I really really screwed the pooch here.
So I am assuming I have to install the firmware first. But that part I don't know how to do. I was able to install different ROM's without any problem. And format like a champ.
Can anyone please help me after you all get over the face / palm feeling. Thank you so much.
This can be deleted. I have fixed this phone.
