ZUK Mobile is going to shut down, according to analyst Pan Jiutang
I guess if this turns out to be true, it will have major impact on a lot of customers. News came originally from a weibo user (@Old Cool) who mentioned that there will be no ZUK Z3 model and then his post was replied by well known analyst Pan Jiutang who added that ZUK Mobile is going to shut down in the coming weeks!
Lenovo had already announced a couple of months ago that it was planning to integrate all of its brands under one umbrella, after facing several problems with Motorola Mobility. The original plan was for all its phone brands to be placed under the Lenovo Moto umbrella but what no one expected was for ZUK Mobile to be also included in this.
In case you don’t remember, ZUK Mobile was founded on May 28, 2015 and during these two years managed to produce 4 smartphones: ZUK Z1, ZUK Z2, ZUK Z2 Pro, and the ZUK Edge. Earlier this year we managed to see some leaked photos of an upcoming model called ZUK Edge II Special Edition but now this isn’t going to happen, and the device isn’t expected to hit the market.
In case however you loved the company’s ZUI, there are good news for you, after the announcement by Lenovo’s VP Alex Chen Yu, that it will be used for upcoming Moto phones.

Yeah, both of you. For anyone who liked Moto phones for being so close to stock AOSP (and usually super-well-supported by Cyanogen/LineageOS... basically a poor-man's Nexus) however, that's gonna suck.
Yea it is very likely that Lenovo will shut down ZUK in 2017. Shame...
I was reading the Chinese news today: http://tech.163.com/17/0427/07/CJ0UCH8K00097U7S.html
Lenovo has lost the market in smart phones (dropped 26% in 2016).
They don't have the money to keep both ZUK and Moto. So they will keep only Moto.
They should hire someone like Hugo Barra for Xiaomi to sell internationally to become successful.
Hope they gonna release full source code (with drivers) of their builds for Zuk phones...
no android security updates then. maybe demote it to a musicplayer and vacation phone
So no more OTA updates as well? I might flash custom ROM if that's the case
Lenovo can go ahead and shutdown Moto if they are going to put ZUI on it.
Are OTA updates no longer available? I'm planning to buy this phone today, but this makes me hesitate...

Hello there,
I need to buy a phone and am getting both Z3C and Z2 at similar prices. ($400).
I know the merits and demerits of both but am still confused. Also I owned a Xperia U (great dev support) but am unable to see any great dev support for both the z3 and Z2. I am a sony lover <3 Should I buy them or look forward to any other device with great dev support (OPO, OPT, G3 etc)
Thank You
Depends, want a compact high end phone? the only one is the Z3C, the Z2 is 5.2 inch, the difference is 0.6 inches and is A LOT, in normal phones (above 5 inches) you have a lot of choices, cant give you a recommendation without knowing what you want... just dont get a Samsung.
About the custom roms my personal experience is with a S1, an S4 i9500 and a Nexus 7 2012, all bad, the roms i tested work well the first time and then they begin to get slow, also a lot of bugs, the N7 is a nexus but apparently support ended, also the lollipop update killed it, i have it right now with 4.2.2, both S1 and S4 worked far better with stock rom/debloated stock rom.
Z3C on 4.4.4 can be rooted easily and Xposed framework all works well.
5.1 can be rooted with a bit of messing about and Xposed is working (mostly?) with a bit of messing about, depending upon the time you have available and your Android skills.
There is ongoing work on both of these and I think 5.1 will be easy soon.
I very much think there is no difference between the Z2 and Z3C in this regard as they essentially have the same SoC. I use the same tools on Z3C and Z1C though they are slightly different hardware.
I am not an expert on this, so someone may correct me.
I personally got the Z3C due to the size and $375 on Amazon. I also got a Z1C for $250 there which is a great buy at that price.
I think its worth waiting till september
Well yes there is a difference but they are minor since everybody wants big phones now and Z3C falls in small phones today! But I can manage the smallness. No Samsung at all
Indeed next week new Sony phones will be unveiled Z5 and Z5c most likely
Cant belive no android 6 on z1
What a ****
Some Samsung a 3 series will get it no man
Its about marketing lol. Samsung a series newest than z1, thats why they get it. Even z1 is able to, it is about marketing. Dont compare something not blindly.
i dont think android 6 has lot of features...so its better to be in 5.1.1
Hi,
It has been quite some time since they announced that and it's a pretty useless thing to complain about. It's widely known that manufacturers only offer support for 18 months, so don't expect much more than that.
The first A series were released as of 2015, the newer A series is from 2016, Android Marshmallow was released October 2015, while the Xperia Z1 was released October 2013. It's easy to see that Marshmallow is out of the 18 months window and with a release schedule of a flagship every semester, Sony needs to give you reasons to buy the new one rather than stay with yours for longer.
All the best,
~Lord
msm8974 was deprecated by Qualcomm, stop blaming Sony
Samsung's 2013 flagships s4 & note 3 only got lollipop 5.0 (lollipop on the s4 is broken) while z & z1 got lollipop 5.1, so next time you want to make a point on how bad Sony is with their update policy ,please choose a company that's actually relevant in Software department as Samsung is literally the worst when it comes to updating older devices.
I have certainly gotten my money's worth out of this $60 Blu R1 HD phone but it has it's own share of annoying issues and we have probably reached the end of its updates.
So I was looking around for possible replacements and what I've seen that looks the most interesting so far is the Xiomi Mi A1. Why? Because it's an official Android One phone so it will get all the updates from google in a timely fashion. They recently had Oreo pushed out. http://www.mi.com/en/mi-a1/
There are many, many reviews on youtube. Also, a lot of people are buying them on amazon and liking them:
https://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-Android-Cameras-Unlocked-Warranty/dp/B076HQ6FSY The price on amazon has been dropping and is currently down to about $225.
While I'm sure I could get it cheaper from China, buying from amazon has the advantage of making sure you get a model with the right bands and, of course, the easy return policy.
XDA has an active forum and the phone is easy to root and flash: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1
The other phone I considered was the LeEco LePro 3. Why? Because it's on the list of supported phones of LineageOS. It has better specs than the M1 A1, and sells for $190 on amazon. But the company overextended in the U.S. and it's not clear how long they will be producing this phone. It has a custom UI that most people don't like so it's only of interest because it's on the list of LineageOS supported phones.
If you have moved up from the Blu R1 HD, which phone did YOU choose?
I need to go back and look through the list of official Android One phones and see which are available in the U.S. and how much they cost.
I am looking for a new phone since my Moto G4 bit the dust last night and is no longer functional. Thank goodness for extended warranty which refunded $174.99 of the original $199.99 I paid for the phone 22 months ago.
Anyhow, I am torn as to which phone I should buy. The Moto G5s plus, G5 plus or Moto G6. I am finding conflicting reviews all over the Internet depending on what features the reviewer hold in the highest esteem. I recently bought a G5s plus for my wife and she loves it, but the camera is slow. The G6 plus is not available in the USA yet so that is not an option. I like that the G6 comes with Oreo and it seems to be a better choice as far as display and camera. But processor and speed the G5's seem to take the edge.
HELP!!! My head is spinning around in circles.

Hmmmm? Not according to Motorola's website.
You can pick up a G6 Plus on Amazon.com! I'm in the US typing on a G6+ and I love it! We are waiting for kernel sources so it shouldn't be long before we have TWRP working and there are already a few project treble based roms available such as RR Oreo, Los, or Aosp.

Wow! The price is higher than I expected. (G6+ = $380 - G6 =$250) Also, it is a no warranty phone so I would have to but a protection plan which jacks the price up another $80.00. Think I will go with the G5+.

I'm not big on third party warranty plans unless you get accidental damage coverage and if that is included then I feel it is always worth the investment even though NFC is useless for me. If the G6+ is out of your budget I understand but I think it's a great investment and since your posting on XDA I assume things like roms are important to you. In which case the G6+ is Project Treble compatible so the device will likely be wide open seeing as we have root and somewhat working TWRP. It's an awesome device though!

Yes, it is out of my budget. While I could go ahead and bite the bullet, I do have to put a limit on the purchase somewhere. I finally went for the G5+ 64 gig. The reviews and feedbacks on it were generally very positive and it gives me the options and features I want. Also it was $110.00 lower overall with the extended warranty which includes accidental damage coverage. I have had 3 phones covered with 3rd party plans and I had to use the coverage on all 3 (Ironically, all Motorola phones). So the plans have paid off well for me.
I realize that the G5+ comes with Nougat and is due for an upgrade to Oreo but that is also something I don't worry myself about. I find it amusing at how many users are constantly complaining concerning "lack of timely upgrades" from Lenova. It seems that as soon as a new version of Android is released, these forums are full of chatter about the subject of upgrades. For me, if my phone works and does everything I want as well as I want then that is good enough for me. When the upgrades come I am pleasantly surprised. I'm not one who insists on having the latest and greatest.
While I will eventually unlock my bootloader and root my phone as well as try the latest custom roms, it will be some time before I do so. I usually stay on stock for a few months before diving into the deep end. Thank you for the well informed feedback and suggestions, Didn't mean to get so verbose here but my first 2 cups of coffee have kicked in and you know how that goes.

No chance of it being 14k. That's the price of Snapdragon 450 Moto G6.
They have priced the G6 plus at 22.5k so maybe they are planning to launch it between G6 and G6 Plus at 18-19k.
And that is just sheer optimism from my side. Knowing moto and their overpriced phones, I'm expecting 24-25k.

It is an India only device. So no sense in adding to the cost by including nfc because literally no one uses nfc here.

Sorry but i dont think they will launch this phone in Europe.
This phone has too many good features at too low a price. If you watch the launch event, you'll see how they kept emphasizing that they made this phone with the Indian customer in mind, who happens to be very price sensitive.
I'm hoping this phone launched in other markets and we get good dev support but somehow i doubt it. They want to you to buy overpriced G and G plus

If motorola releases kernel sources, many people will jump onto the bandwagon. And moreover, this same device launches as the P30 and P30 Note. With a slight variation in the spec sheet. Hence I expect development to be strong. Also its a Android One Device, you can expect 3 years of security updates.

I don't know about the history whether Motorola releases kernel sources early or it takes much time like xiaomi do. This phone will be my first Motorola phone but I do trust the brand that's why I am going for it. Earlier I had MI Max 2 which has quite bad development the main reason being xiaomi releasing the kernel sources very late. I mean the world is going for Android p and MI is still messing with nougat. Are you a developer? I have some knowledge of development but I cannot work from scratch. Feels like I am a copycat who just improvises[emoji6]

Motorola generally releases kernel sources in time. It already has the G6 series' sources available.
I generally find budget motorola devices to have good amount of support. I own a moto X play but sadly I cannot relplace its battery with an official motorola one so gotta change it. It runs Official LIneage OS 14.1 which is absolutely stable. I tested 2 Oreo Builds which work to the most extent but have a few bugs which make it a non daily driver material. Devs are still on it though. And some Xaomi devices have great dev suppport and some are absolutely trash, no offence to anyone.
I liked the motorola under google and my phone is from that age. As this device is under the Android One banner so I am considering it.
I am not a developer, I am a tinkerer. I don't critisize, I just inform things in a very detailed way.
I am in a dilemma between the Zenfone Max Pro and Motorola One Power. I prefer the Motorola One Power due to its software right now. I just hope they don't hold the dumb flash sales like Xaomi! ._.
