Hello everyone!
I'm really new to these android audio units and I am cautious on selecting one. What I am looking for is a stable unit with around 10 sec boot time and quick response for reverse camera with a budget of 150-170USD. I would prefer 7'' capacitive touch screen and without any dvd/cd slot. Any suggestions on what to look for highly appreciated!
Thanks

Hello everyone. I am Mihai from Romania.
I want to start a project using Raspberry Pi 3 (maybe connected to an Arduino) to log data from my GoKart and display it on a 5" touchscreen.
I was wondering what hardware do I need? (I am asking because I don't have the money to buy and try)
I want to: log and display the position of the accelerator and brake pedals (could use a rotary potentiometer attached to the pivoting poind of the peddal maybe?), log and display RPM (was thinking something attached to my spark plug wire - very high current passing through that wire), log and display G-force, log and display speed (maybe a sensor at one of the wheels or GPS), display the gear I am in (this is already done using two buttons).
And maybe after I get all this done, I would like to build/code a GPS lap-timer using the same equipment (to display the time/lap on the screen).
Like I said, I have already build the gear indicator and a system that changes gears when I press two buttons (for up and down shifts).
All this has to be powered by a battery since I will be racing the kart around the track.
The data has to be displayed on the screen in real time.
I am happy to provide any other details you might need.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.
Any help would be apreciated.
Maybe if you know what would be best for only one input. Foe example, what would be best to log the position of the peddals? Or just what to use to record rpm.
Thank you.
Hello,
I am new here and have no experience programming Android systems. I am looking at buying an Android platform in dash radio unit that has some hard key buttons and hard hey knobs.
I don't know if this differs from other Android platforms such as a cellular telephone or a tablet but here's what I am wanting to accomplish (I am under the impression anything is possible since it's just a computer program comprised of 1s and 0s but I'm sure all of you will set me straight).
Okay so essentially I would like to customize the interface, easy enough I know lot of people accomplish that, perhaps only rooting would be required... however I think my vision is more complicated than most. My intent is to create a vector cartoon image of my vehicle, during boot I would like to have the image load on the screen and as the booting phase is progressing (like a status indicator) different lights will turn on, and perhaps have some audio that plays. Then on the home screen I would like to have the same image (or similar) with different status indicators shown, which lights are on, if the vehicle is running, TPMS values, also time of day would be reflected with either a sun progressing across the sky from Sun rise to sun set, then the moon will come out with Northern Lights dancing in the sky. While driving perhaps the wheels could turn.
So yes to me it seems highly ambitious and very in-depth. All of that information will be available to the unit via other applications except for the lighting which I could route through separate circuitry (perhaps through a USB interface??) unless there's another?
My intent is not to open the unit or rebuild it physically. But rooting, reprogramming, flashing, and wiring outside of the unit I am comfortable with.
I believe that's a good start for now, I appreciate your time.
P.S. I don't mind learning and doing the work myself, I am starting from scratch though. Is this viable? Would it be expensive to pay someone? Is it even possible?
I have left out the brand and product because I'm assuming it wouldn't matter, it is running Android 8.0, 4G+32G, 8-core CPU, it has the hard buttons and is touch screen.
Sorry, there is another feature I was looking at having. It has a dedicated hard key "Navigation" button. I was hoping to have two or three specific navigation applications, that as I press that button, it will jump to the last used application, and with each button press it will cycle through all the other 'designated' gps applications.
Also I might want to customize some other hard key button functions, but that's the major one, so I am hoping/assuming it can be done in the first place.
Also simple default startup options, running programs, screens and layout.
Thank you for your time and knowledge.
No one even has any advice or help or anything constructive?
Am I posting this question in the right forum?
Usually forums aren't this quiet. ?
What your looking to do sounds like it would require a decent amount Android programing knowledge. If your starting from scratch with no experience in programing or building Android applications I do not think it's worth your time.
Yes the headunits run a mostly normal version of Android with some customization to do things like interact with the can bus and play Bluetooth audio.
Thank you for the reply, so for an experienced programmer, is this reasonably achievable?
Would it be with contacting someone to do this?
Hi guys
I am currently using a Z5 since its release in September 2015. Now I want to buy a new device.
I think about buying the Xperia 10 but I am struggling a bit. How do you like this phone? Is it worth an "upgrade". What about performance? Is it comparable or even better than my Z5's?
My Z5 has stereo speakers in the front. The Xperia 10 has one speaker at the bottom. How does it sound like?
My Z5 got a new mainboard, camera and battery in 2017.
I like the fact that it has the fingerprint sensor on the side. I don't like it on the back.
Thanks for your advice.
Hey, I was just in your shoes. Unless your z5 is annoying you too much, I'd avoid getting this phone and wait for next gen. Here's my experience.
Had the z5c, and got fed up with slowing performance and battery life, and replaced camera lens last year (build up of film causing blurry images) only for it to require another replacement less then a year later again. I bought Xperia 10 and likely will trade up for a 5g phone within the year.
I can deal with the long length. But 21:9 is just unnecessary. I don't need cinematic Netflix experience on my phone. I don't like seeing black bars now on all YouTube videos since hardly anyone uploads into that ratio. I could enjoy the split screen but it's gotten complicated to activate in Pie.
I bought this phone because: price, side button unlock, familiar OS (which was not correct, Pie is way different). Here's what I can't get used to:
No longer simple to move current app into split screen (recent apps button removed in android Pie), no way to get do not disturb activated from volume rocker (must create and use a shortcut which is inconvenient when I'm in meetings), finger print sensor is no longer on power button (separate on Xperia 10) which leads to accidentally unlocking in my pocket if my hand in holding my phone, no longer possible to change long pressing home button to activate preferred Duckduckgo search.
I'm tolerating the phone. But I refuse to buy anything more expensive and don't like the girthy phones from nearly every other company. And not buying Apple (have an apple for work phone and hate it)
Hope this helps

Thanks. I already decided to buy the Pixel 2 XL.
Hello to everyone.
I have red magic 3 global release. i am a mobile publisher. When I bought this phone, I noticed that there was no screen recording feature for my YouTube content, and although I waited for a long time, I didn't receive any screen recording with any updates. I wanted to project the image with elgato but I can't give it to the screen in any way. I have tried many converters. I didn't get a positive result.
can I fix this if I root my phone? or is there someone who can solve this problem or someone who can give an idea?
thanks in advance for your answers..
Hi there,
Can anyone find a way to get the 2019 Redesign on phone screens as I'm not a huge fan of the version on the phone screen but I don't want to put a £350 head unit in my cheap daily driver. Either that or can anyone recommend an alternative
Thanks,
T
