Turn on energy saver and status bar turn red! - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

hi everybody,
i use oneplus 3t a3003, i have a question for you,
The status bar turns red when you turn on battery saver settings. Is there a way to fix this?
thanks...

It's how it's supposed to be, to inform you that the phone is in low energy emergency mode and battery will die out soon. Also everything will be slow since Big CPU cores is disabled and CPU frequency of little cores restricted. I think they choose this so as to inform you why the phone turnes sluggish. ?

It's supposed to be like that dude

There are some mods to change that but that requires unlocked bootloader and custom recovery like TWRP.
If you dont have any idea what that is then you dont have any option than to accept it as it is.

Awake but why?

Hi all guys, look these screen shoots.
Why my phone is awake?
There is no app running background or some kernel wakelock that consume battery.
I'm using CM 10.1 and Werewolf 0.8b kernel

there are also hidden procedures that the phone does depending your settings. for example if u have sound lock/unlock, or vibration lock/unlock , thats also a procedure. following that example you can understand propably whats draining your battery or waking the phone. also u can use wakelock detector from google play. it has more advanced features to show you exactly whats going on. the app you r using there in the screenshot , doesnt show anything; 7 min awake isnt an info. but if it said 6 min running "this procedure" and 1 min running "that" ... thats an info !

yes and powermangerservice.wakelock. means there is a program running it's not even the baseband wakelock (or it's hidden).
if you look under partial wakelocks you will see which program is running.

no. i mean something like this.
in my case the audio something , those procedures there, are the lock/unlock sounds and touch the screen sounds. wakelock detector shows u exactly the procedures that wakes up the cpu, the screen , whatever u like to check. the other u use , sais powermanage service, u never gonna find it that way.

[Q] Questions for 1st android flashing

Hello guys...
well... this is will be my first flash using android tools ((from symbian i'm quite used to it)).... this is my second android ((today I own a Xperia Z1 and before a Motorola Razr i, which i never flashed))...
and I have some questions regarding this flashing procedure.... some one mind just clarify me around some doubts ??
1 - after I flashed my mobile and if I regret, can i reinstall the flash the sony fw in the same way? i mean, download it from sonymobile.com and flash it? is this works?
2- these custom roms to Z1 ((cyanogem, miui, and so on)) are the pure android with sony drivers OR are they the same from sony but modified? I'm asking this because i like ((and use so much)) the sony features like stamina, throw, screen mirroring ((I use this one a lot to play on my tv))... If these ""sony features"" doesn't come ""out of box"" when I flash a custom rom, can i install them later?? I never saw any video showing these stuffs or any at all...
3- these custom roms can I enable and disable animations and other things to enhance my phone?? because with my previous phone ((Motorola Razr i)) i was able to do this and much more, and this save battery a lot... can I do this?? if yes, mind to attach a screenshot to show what can do? I was reading many other forums ((including from sonymobile) and even there they complain about drain battery and random freezes, just like I'm having these days....
4 - Ok... i read a lot but I couldn't understand exactly what is TWRP.... mind to explain as if i 6yo?? =)
5 - Is it normal to screen not shows up when I press the power button to ""wake up"" the screen?? I mean... sometimes i want to check my phone, and when I press the Power button the screen just freezes in black, not showing anything .... and just show something after some seconds ((ten or more)) or after i press the Power button for some seconds as if i want to shut it down.... this happens more ""often"" if i press the Power button to lock and after 2, 3 seconds i have the need to use the phone again ((which this never happen with my Razr i))...
6 - my phone heats a lot.... i mean.... a really lot.... is that normal?? i was reading about this and many other z1 owners complains from this same thing...
thanks in advance =)
1. Yes
2. If you install cyanogen or other AOSP roms, you need to unlock bootloader. also you will loose stamina mode and other sony features. i dont think you can get them back, look around in other sections.
3. It could. Honestly, my z1 hasn't frozen on me ever. I am on stock rooted 761 fw. If you want to disable animations go to developer options and disable the animations there, you can do it both in stock sony and aosp.
4. Twrp is a recovery, you need it to flash roms and do backups of your phone. Team win recovery project.
5. I do not know if its normal as my z1 is very responsive, no delay in screen opening time even when i underclocked the cpu to 1.7Ghz
6. Yes it does tend to heat up after prolonged gaming etc. You can lessen it by underclocking. It works trust me

minor questions regarding your answer...
#3 - mine z1 freezes everyday... and i dont have too many apps installed... just a few.... for real... like 20 apps... only 2 games...
#4 - ok... finally i got it =)
#5 - mind to make a test with your own? press the power button normally, as if you gonna lay it down... then, after 2 or 3 seconds, press again the power button, as if you wish to check the hours or a message.... try this at least 5 times if you dont mind..... so... it worked all the times flawlessly?
#6 - nope.... even if im not using it.... not doing anything at all...

#3 - maybe the RAM is cluttered?
#5 - I did it around 8 times. Turned off the display, waited for 2-5 seconds then turned it on. Works flawlessly. No lag. My device is even underclocked when it is in sleep or display off. When the display is off, i set it to run between 300 - 900something Mhz because I found that the device could still respond without any lag with that setting when turning the display on. When the display is on its 300Mhz to 1.7Ghz.
#6 - maybe have it checked at a sony center.

You can underclock in stock rom, just need root access.

ok... i will try it then.... i have "advanced task killer" and "clean master" running together ... i always clean the memory.. the ATK is set to clean every time i press the power button to lock the screen... and, even doing this, my phone keeps freezing all the time... i dont know, but maybe after you rooted the phone, you could enable/disable any options were enhance the phone... no?
well... i will try to install any custom rom to check it and see if i enjoy any of them.... any recommendation for a custom rom? cyanogem? miui? iHacker? DooMLord?
I havent done anything to my phone but root it and underclock + xposed but only modules for camera and cosmetics of the ui. Its your pick. I use stock 761. Just stock + root.

sweep or double tap to wake

hi, i'm looking for a mod to wake phone by sweep or tap for my fully rooted p7.
as far as i know, this will be only possible with exposed framework, but i don't know if this tweak works with p7.
has anyone tried to implement this feature?
It is possible but we must add a function to the kernel
How?!!!

Guys if you want dbl tap to wake you need to check outHonor 6 Plus as that phone software supports it ...
Probably needs script adding in build prop ?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xzDBaGs75XM#t=474
Won't be happening any time soon
If we want to get double tap to wake etc. we will have to put it in the kernel somehow...it had something to do with something called elementalX i think(correct me if im wrong please).
So until we find a developer who can add it to our kernel, we won't be getting it...:crying::crying:
this feature drains batt A LOT .. one guy complained about batt. life in Honor 6 plus ...
if there is double tap wake means digitizer is still on all the time .. I don't miss that feature anyway.. just pointing out

I've also read something about the digitizer being on all the time, but that it didn't drain much batt life because it didn't need te be precise so the cpu levels could stay really, really low...
I kind of miss the feature. Well not really miss it, but it would be ****ing awesome haha

I was watching at Aaron Segaert's dt2wake code from ElementalIX kernel and took a look at our touchscreen driver and I'm afraid it's not possible to implement in our device or it's very hard to. Because touchscreen driver doesn't support gestures. (

I wondered why there aren't much tweakers for ascend p7, since it's in awesome phone. Compared to other sub forums its really quite here :crying:
Good news: I have successfully implemented DoubleTap2Wake driver authored by Dennis Rassmann in my Ascend P6S-U06. Because P6S and P7 have the same kernel, I'm pretty sure it will work on your device too.
Also I've added duration as tunable parameter after which driver lets device to go to deep sleep. For example, if you read something on internet sites or messaging with somebody and screen goes off periodically, you can easily double tap on it instead of pressing power button. But after a long time device has been in offscreen mode you wake him up by power button. In this manner I think dt2w is useful enough and will not consume much battery power.

I stayed dt2w on for this night. Normally, after 8 hours of night battery drains for 4%, i.e. 0.5% per hour. After this night battery drained for 16%, in four times more than usually.
But if I stay dt2w on just for a few minutes after screen off, battery drain is not noticable at all.

[Q] New N6 adopter, some customization questions

I'm on Verizon, so I just got my Nexus 6 last week, and I've still been trying to get it looking and feeling like I want it to. I already unlocked and rooted it. I'm working on getting Light Flow set up, but I've been having no luck at all. I'm dealing with the finicky double-tap to wake. I know there's apps to enable the stock battery percentage, and I have done so, but what's the best way to change how the status bar looks? Is there even a way, besides a new ROM? I know Xposed isn't available/stable for 5.1 yet. The percentage is so hard to read like this, it's making me miss my Note.
The battery seems a little iffy so far, so I've been keeping an eye on it. Wakelock Detector was is telling me "Proximity Sensor Manager" has been running almost constantly. Not sure what that is exactly. Any advice or help with these or other issues from those who have had it for a long time? I'd love the help. Thanks!
I also just spent 3 or 4 hours in the car with my headset on, and the battery drained by Bluetooth says 37%. Is that normal?? Seems like an awful lot, especially considering I only made one call.
Google play services is the battery killer for me, often using more than the display does.
As for mods on stock 5.1 ROM, I would recommend maybe Franco kernel (love the color calibration and vibration intensity adjustment) and the MoDaCo modpack for some nice customizations like percentage battery and center clock just to name a few.
Sent from my Nexus 6
Is there a reason for the service to be using that much? That's kind of annoying. :-|
I've flashed ROMs before, but I'm fairly noob-ish when it comes to the rest. I'm on stock 5.1, but just unlocked and rooted, so what would I need to do to flash a kernel or a modpack? What are the pros/cons of doing so? The modpack sounds like it has a good chunk of what I'm looking for. Thanks for your response!
Well, with Franco kernel you just install his app and it will install it directly from within the app itself . . https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.kernel.free
That is the free version of his app kernel app. It basically just does that. For all the extras his kernel does, you need to buy his paid app I believe. I am sure there are other ways to access them, but his app is worth the few bucks it costs . . https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.franco.kernel
As for the mod pack, you would start with installing a custom recovery. If you don't know how to do that, easiest way is download the app flashify, which will download and install twrp recovery quite easily.
The mod pack is even easier, download the 5.1 version from here . . http://www.modaco.com/page/news/_/android/mcr-modpack-for-the-nexus-5-6-and-9-r11-r1437 . . and flash in recovery. Would highly recommend creating a twrp nandroid backup before proceeding at all so you can easily fever everything you will be doing.
Sent from my Nexus 6
Awesome! Thanks for the links. For the modpack...it says near the bottom "Ensure your device is running STOCK LRX22C - use on any other ROM version will make bad things happen!". My Nexus 6 is LMY47E. That doesn't even seem close. Is it compatible with all, or only a few devices, or certain ROMs? Again, thanks for the help.
The mod pack is for stock or stock based roms. And if you download the 5.1 version you will be fine. What they are saying about the 22C build is for 5.0.1 stock, the v11 for 5.1 is what you want. I myself am on the 47E build and it works perfect.

Its probably finicky for you because Nexus 6 **DOES NOT HAVE** double-tap to wake. It has SHAKE to wake.
Which deactivates under certain conditions, like it woke from being shaken within a few seconds of this attempt without being fully brought to wake (by touching the screen). Or because the proximity sensor registers a "near" event (i.e., it thinks its in your pocket).
I know there's apps to enable the stock battery percentage, and I have done so, but what's the best way to change how the status bar looks? Is there even a way, besides a new ROM? Why do you need to know that precisely how many "percent" the battery is at? Even if you think you know the "actual percent", you realize that it is only accurate to within about 15%? Its a rough guess no matter how you look at it. If the little battery icon is right up to the top, its full. If its close to the bottom and red, its time to charge. If its somewhere in between, its still ok.

Battery on this device is excellent. Low/mid use can run for THREE DAYS on a charge.

OK, for light flow to work you need the paid version. Once you have that go to settings/Device Settings and root, and check direct mode, root mode and run every command as root (you'll want to disable notifactions in supersu for this app or you'll get constant pop ups saying lie flow has been granted permissions)
Now go to notifications settings and, for each app you want the notification light, got to settings, the light tab and enable the light, scroll down and enable the mixer, check app controlled flash, select the color mix you want and for each color set the state to solid and whatever brightness level.
That should get your light working. You might want to check the "exclude from sleep mode" under each app as well.
The light works just the flash rate is somewhat random.

I think all I can add to this is try some custom Roms. On stock I get about 3:30 of on screen time, on Chroma I get 5:30 or more.

I am definitely interested, but I sadly burned myself out on ROMs during my Galaxy Nexus days. Having to constantly redo settings and update nightlies and all that stuff got draining after a while. I'm really looking to just modify stock in whatever small ways I'm able to, which as of tonight has been awesome. More battery life would be helpful though. :-/

Chroma is rock solid, you can flash it and not worry about doing updates too often, unless you must have latest features.

Man, after reading the Chroma thread and looking at the screenshots, I'm veeeery tempted. I'll have to give it some thought when I'm not tired, thinking of redoing all my apps and settings makes my head hurt.

Just back up your apps and flash, you won't regret it. Do a full backup in twrp flash the Rom, if you don't like it restore your backup. Only takes minutes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for messing with the vibration settings? The vibration on my phone is so violently loud that I sometimes would prefer the notification noise over it. Not to mention that I normally love haptic feedback when I type, but on the N6 it just sounds ludicrous, like I'm literally typing on a mechanical keyboard. Will any of the kernels let me adjust intensity? I heard somewhere that Franco kernel does, but it was never confirmed. The way my Galaxy Tab S feels when I type is phenomenal...I wish I could figure out what it's set to and have everything set that way.

I use Franco kernel which allows for it. I set mine to 65 strength.

Thanks!

As far as the proximity sensor being active, my guess is that ambient display is using it
. If your concerned I would try disabling ambient display and see what happens. Again that's just a guess.

Yeah, I ended up getting it and trying it, and it's much better now, but not as smooth as I had hoped. I just set up my dad's S6 today and the tactile feel of the haptic on that thing is just...mmmmm. It seems like the motor they put in the N6 is just grossly overpowered, it even sounds weird.

It was the ambient display, I finally figured it out a few days after I got the phone. Thanks for the tip!

CPU small cores do not stop, big cores not working

So, my issue is as the title shows.
The A53 cores do not stop, and A57 cores only work like 0-1 core at a time, usually doing nothing.
Which causes my phone to be heating up whenever it isn't sleeping, sometimes drains battery even when charging at 2A.
I'm using E6533(dual sim version), and it happened when I updated my phone to 7.1.1(32.4.A.0.160) from 7.0.0(32.3.A.2.33) firmware with flashtool.
Yes, I've rooted my phone, but just for removing shutter sounds.
I tried to rollback to my TWRP backup, factory reset, rollback to 32.2.A.0.305, using custom ROM(lineage), quite everything I know, but nothing worked.
Does anyone have a clue of what might be the problem, and what might work?
Thank you.

I was using stock ROM, but while trying to fix the issue, I've tried custom ROM too. Though nothing has changed…

Well, if that's normal, this shouldn't be an issue. Though I do wonder where's the big little concept gone.
Did it ever occur to you guys that it might be dynamic hotplugging and a specific configuration/setup is being used ?
Or is it in your case really being buggy and broken ?
You left something working in the background and monitored how the cores behaved ?
Using different apps ? (say: kernel adiutor [or kernel adiutor mod], EX Kernel Manager, CPU Z, etc.)
My situation has improved, so I'll update my situation, hopefully it'll help someone.
After updating to stock 7.1.1(without modifications), my phone got just very hot while the screen was on., consuming more than 2A.
Rolling back did solve the problem(becomes normal heat), but as for me, I chose to use lineage OS, which was great. The only drawback I'm having now is that the camera button's function isn't as versatile as the stock ROM, especially while opening the camera app from sleep state, is a bit unstable.
A great thanks for all of you guys for giving me advices.
