Are the followings available on the P10 - Huawei P10 Questions & Answers

First time using Huawei, using app draw, is it possible to hide apps, create folders and does this phone have double tap to sleep/wake.
Thanks

One tab on the fingerprint reader wakes the phone. A sleep gesture would be nice though.

I use Nova Launcher on my P10 - it does all that you desire with the exception of double tap to wake, which I personally feel is a redundant feature on the P10. You can double tap to sleep, but it will not lock until your screen on time has elapsed.

The strange thing is, that (on rooted devices) by editing build.prop and a few lines in other XML files, you can have the double tap (to wake and sleep) option under Smart assistance in settings. I guess it wasn't ready for EMUI 5.1, hopefully it comes later in a software update.

Screen Off Task/App and Smart Lock

I've been spoiled by LG's double tap to wake and sleep function. In order to replicate the double tap to sleep ability, I use Tasker (which is officially seeing Lollipop support now) to create a task for "system lock." However, I noticed that when I double tap (Nova gesture) to do this, it circumnavigates the smart lock, meaning I'll have to use my PIN/pattern when I next use my phone. Is there another solution around this or does Tasker need to be updated to support smart lock? Looking for any suggestions.
Resolved: Using Run Shell and input keyevent 26 with root emulates the power button and keeps Smart Lock in place.

Double-tap to wake up is not working?

I'm using Nova launcher on my X Performance, and I allowed the double-tap to wake up function. However, I am not able to wake my XP on with only 2 taps, I almost need to tap continuously to wake it up, for about 6 to 7 times. Even I use the original launcher Xperia Home, the tap to wake function is not working perfectly.
On the other hand, when I switch to the Xperia Home and use the double-tap to sleep function, it works every single time.
I didn't activate the Stamina mode so I believe the tap function is not restricted by the Stamina. I'm wondering this is due to the memory management of Android Marshmallow (The apps is more easily to restart on XP comparing with my old phone Z2 which is still using Android 5.X)?
Does anyone using X Performance also facing this problem? Any solution to this?

if you have a screen protector, it does not work well.

Hey Chrisy,
I didn't have any issues with it working, but I did notice the option for double-tap to sleep was ONLY available when Home Launcher was set as default. I too have used Nova FOR YEARS, but I like double-tap to sleep too much, so I am using Home Launcher as well. lol
I would maybe try a factory reset and if that doesn't work, I would return the phone and get a replacement. Unless you do use a screen protector (which I don't)? Then perhaps kms' statement does apply to you and you just need to remove it? If not, and factory reset doesn't fix it, I'd return it. Could be a sign of other issues to come.

Thanks for reply.
Yes, I'm using a glass screen protector. Maybe I will consider to remove it or change it in later time, since I don't want to waste it lol
I've bought and used Nova for a long time (I loves its backup function), but now I switch to the Home Launcher too lol At least the Home Launcher is customizable (though not as much as Nova does). Nova offers the tap-to-sleep function too, but it seems that on Marshmallow (or Sony device exclusively? I don't know), once the device is locked by third party apps, you cannot unlock it again with fingerprints (passcode/pin/pattern is needed to unlock in this situation). If I use Nova to tap-to-sleep, I need to use passcode to unlock it and the fingerprint sensor would do nothing. Sigh
chrisy,
YW.
Oh ok. Then that's most likely it then. Up to you when and/or if you want to remove it. lol
Yeah I used Nova's backup option too before. Yeah I'm glad Home lets you customize some things at least.
Yeah the lockscreen gets in the way and you have to enter PIN each time, which pretty much KILLS any enjoyment had with having the fingerprint scanner. lol I think the same issue happened on my S7, so I don't think it's just Sony (fortunately).
Nova is better but in this case it just makes more sense to stick with Home. I take screenshots of my apps that are on my desktop so on future phones I will know exactly which ones to put there w/o having to think about it. I recommend doing that too since Home doesn't have a backup feature like the one Nova does.

doubble tap to sleep, alternative for Xperia home

do you guys know if theres an alternative launcher that can handle doubble tap to sleep ?
Nova Launcher (prime) does it. IMO it's the best launcher.
True, but as far as I know Sony's launcher is the only one that handles smart lock well with the double tap to sleep function. E.g. in Nova you must unlock with a code after double tap, even if connected with a trusted device.
Edit: I just discovered that the newest Nova Launcher Beta version supports double tap to sleep well in combination with Smart Lock / device on bluetooth.

If you're rooted and use Xposed, this module and Nova will sort you out:

Forgot to mention, if you have any trouble, additionaly install and set this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.liberty.android.ptplugin.screenoff in Nova's Gestures and Inputs/Gestures/Double tap.
It's the only app that doesn't invoke PIN or pattern after unlocking your phone with double tap. Also, don't set up smart lock in Sony's Settings, just use the Xposed module for that.
i was wondering if theres any "lightweight" launcher that can do the job. Nova launcher is much to extensive in my opinion.
Xperia home is ok but i miss "hide applicaton" feature and also dont like the suggestions tab ...

Fingerprint Scanner: Lockscreen useless

With the fingerprint scanner's ultra fast response, entering the home screen is very quick. Thus, the lockscreen is rendered useless. Is there any way fingerprint scan opens the lock screen instead of the home screen just like how the iPhone implements it?
The fingerprint is for unlocking, so why showing the Lockscreen when you want to unlock. Just press the power button.
But I think it should be possible with Tasker, give it a try.
It should be useless, step back and one step more for unlocking -> loss of time.
I would like to have a option to double tap for waking the device. Just for checking notifications/time and not to press power button every damm time.
Is it possible?

Well in the lock screen, notifications are shown instantly, and looks cleaner; whereas in the home screen you have to swipe down from the status bar to access them. Apple have thought of it and so the iPhone 7 functions in this manner.
So what I'd like to see is: Fingerprint scan > double tap notification > app
Instead of: Fingerprint scan > swipe down from home screen> tap notification > app
An ability to switch to whichever sequence you want will be great.
Take a look at this.
As I already said, Tasker should be an option for your purpose.
My opinion is another than yours, I think it's very annoying what Apple did and my wife is always yelling at her iPhone because of this "feature".
I didn't have this on my previous i6s because I used to jailbreak and there was only iOS9.
The jailbreak issue was the reason for me why I leaves Apple for Huawei.
Now I have the original smart cover for my P10 and the most annoying thing of this cover is, that Huawei won't allow third party apps the access to the smart cover lockscreen, so they can display notification icons on it.
But when I want to turn on my screen I either lift the cover or, when it's already lifted, I push the power button. Even though I'm a leftie I think it's a good solution and works very well.

Question Double Tap to screen On/Off

Hi Guys,
Is it possible to enable double tap to turn screen on and off on motorola edge 30 ultra?
Thanks so much !
Single tap only, double tap is omitted due to the in- screen fingerprint sensor, so as soon as u touch the screen, the screen comes alive (which is done in order to make fp-unlocking faster)

Where is this setting located? I cannot double-tap on blank space to power off.
Double Tap Screen On/Off will help you to minimize the usage of power button.

I have been looking for this setting for almost 10mins but I didn't find it anymore, but I'm sure it was there in the older OS version, my screen is still able to be turn on/off with double tap.

Here.
Go to Settings > Gesture shortcuts > Jump to lock screen
Toggle on and the phone will ask you whether you double tap to go directly to lockscreen (NOT peek display) or the usual peek display.
Go to Settings > Gesture shortcuts > Put display to sleep
Toggle on to enable.

It's been removed in the latest update. At least for EU devices.
I've the stock X30 Pro version. I can tell you some menu translation is all over the place. The "Jump To the Lock Screen" originally translated as "Double Tap" in the simplified Chinese language.
Under Display-> Peek Display, toggle the switch on and off, the phone will ask you to show fingerprint sensor or not. If you choose No, double tap WILL NOT WORK even if "Jump to lock screen" is on. It's surely a bug or something. Anyway a single tap always wakes up the screen and show "peek display" screen or "fingerprint sensor" icon, depends on what you chose before. Double tap when the screen is off will skip the "peek display" and goes into lock screen. AFAIK there's no true double tap to screen on so far......

Yeah, so the only way to turn on double tap to lockscreen is to enable Peek Display.
The behavior of the phone will be like this-
1. Single tap to peek display AND
2. Double tap to lock screen
It cannot be OR.
Also, once you turned on Jump to Lockscreen, you can NOT turn on "move phone to show peek display"
This is not a bug as the logic behind this is the phone's peek display will ALWAYS turn on once you moved the phone. Hence, impossible to double tap to lockscreen (you CANNOT double tap from peek display to go to the lockscreen).
