[Q] Always On Ambient Display on Lock Screen???

I love the ambient display on the Nexus 6....so after unlocking, rooting, and installing double tap to wake, I am looking for a way to make this the default behavior for the lock screen - e.g. I'd like double tap to wake or the power button to simply enable the screen in ambient display mode rather than full color. Does anyone know a way to do this?

I haven't seen anything that does that. To be clear, you want the double tap and power button to act like ambient display's "shake to wake" where when you pick up the device (effectively a shake) it presents the ambient display screen?
Actually I'd like that too.

Exactly!

Pocket mode, which is an option some custom ROMs have added to Ambient Display can kinda do this. What it does is it checks the proximity sensor, so when it is covered and then uncovered (like pulling it out of a pocket) the Ambient Display comes on. In actuality you can kinda wave your hand over the top part of the phone, without touching it.

Really? I thought pocket mode was to prevent the screen waking in your pocket

1. pocket mode = proximity enabled after screen off, if detect NEAR state (covered by hand or somethings), doze will disable
until FAR state (uncovered), if FAR state is triggered, Doze will appears.

Fingerprint Scanner: Lockscreen useless

With the fingerprint scanner's ultra fast response, entering the home screen is very quick. Thus, the lockscreen is rendered useless. Is there any way fingerprint scan opens the lock screen instead of the home screen just like how the iPhone implements it?

The fingerprint is for unlocking, so why showing the Lockscreen when you want to unlock. Just press the power button.
But I think it should be possible with Tasker, give it a try.

It should be useless, step back and one step more for unlocking -> loss of time.
I would like to have a option to double tap for waking the device. Just for checking notifications/time and not to press power button every damm time.
Is it possible?

Well in the lock screen, notifications are shown instantly, and looks cleaner; whereas in the home screen you have to swipe down from the status bar to access them. Apple have thought of it and so the iPhone 7 functions in this manner.
So what I'd like to see is: Fingerprint scan > double tap notification > app
Instead of: Fingerprint scan > swipe down from home screen> tap notification > app
An ability to switch to whichever sequence you want will be great.

As I already said, Tasker should be an option for your purpose.
My opinion is another than yours, I think it's very annoying what Apple did and my wife is always yelling at her iPhone because of this "feature".
I didn't have this on my previous i6s because I used to jailbreak and there was only iOS9.
The jailbreak issue was the reason for me why I leaves Apple for Huawei.
Now I have the original smart cover for my P10 and the most annoying thing of this cover is, that Huawei won't allow third party apps the access to the smart cover lockscreen, so they can display notification icons on it.
But when I want to turn on my screen I either lift the cover or, when it's already lifted, I push the power button. Even though I'm a leftie I think it's a good solution and works very well.

Always On Display Question

Hi. Been playing about with phone and seen that there is orientation option under the AOD settings. Choose Landscape or Portrait. But it doesnt seem to do anything, unless im being a dumbass. Does anyone have any idea?

Yes, it does what it says....clock in portrait or landscape. If you double tap the clock, it gives the rotation option and AOD brightness (if you have auto turned off )

I double tap the clock and it gives me the brightness and can scroll music, weather etc but no rotation. Confused.

interesting. I'm on Verizon and the latest update as of the 8th. Can't screenshot it from the lock screen I don't think, but I'll try and grab a pic that it's real.

Cheers. Even uninstalled rotation control app in case it was conflicting but still wont do it. Even tried routines to toggle it and nothing. I will have a play, sure it must something im doing. ?

Accidental touches

Hi,
I'm starting to get really frustrated with my S10! When I have it in my pocket it's registering touches even though I'm not even touching my pocket I have my phone in.
I just got back home from my local gym and while I was exercising it has sent a photo from my gallery to different people on Facebook, even people from other places in the world who is not on my friend list.
I have enabled the option in settings to avoid accidental touches and the increased sensibility option is disabled as well and so is the raise to wake option.
Any ideas on how to solve this?

I think that's an issue with all Samsung devices running on Android 9. Its actually the Fingerprint icon and/or double tap to wake up feature.
Try doing the following :-
1> Go to Settings > Advanced Features > Motion and Gestures and then turn off "Double Tap to Wake".
2> Go to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Fingerprints then Turn off "Show icon when screen is off".
If that still doesn't works, go to the same settings page in Step 1, and turn off "Lift to Wake Up" too.
Let me know if it works out for you.

One of the most used function is missing on this phone

Draw a "V" on the screen whilst it's turned off and the flashlight will turn on/off

Did you activate the feature as described on the Oppo-site that appears after you click on my link?
It works on mine after doing so:
Go to [Settings] > [Gesture & Motion] > [Screen-off Gestures] > toggle to enable or disable [Screen-off Gestures].
You can also have more Screen-off Gestures by tapping [Add a Screen-off Gesture].
There are 7 more gestures to choose from.
