Most of us would. Problem is that Koushik Dutta does it for fun more than for the money.
If you look at total number of his apps sold, you may assume that he is quite a wealthy man.
Probably while his quest for MyCast he started looking into idea Mirroring Android screen to Chromecast.
MyCast may be temporary on hold but there are good news( it's worth to visit his G+ profile from time to time):

Very good rom, sometime in future you could try this rom (Ressurection Remix KitKat), I had this rom for a while, really decent rom for daily use, in my opinion one of the best AOSP roms. Plus adding SiyahKernel your phone would be flyin

I have two roms on my phone , i have a dual-booted phone.
And on my Samsung Note have i also RR Remix ROM
that rom is a beast!!!

Yes it is, the only downside would be the camera, sometimes it lags and freezes when taking a video.
