Idol 4 shutting off after lock screen - Alcatel Idol 4S Questions & Answers

Hi, I haven't found any thread about this problem. Something gone wrong. My Idol 4 shutting off itself, few seconds after pushing a power off button. Simply, when I want turn off the screen and lock the phone few sec. after device no waking up and it is power off. When I booted device again after clicking the multitask window I can see previous apps that were opened before. Soft and hard reset neither solve a problem. I also remove SD card and SIM card for sure but that also not working.
Any ideas? I would try to reflash the stock rom via Mobile Upgrade Q. Or last chance is back device to guaranty.
Sorry for my bad English :c

HELP, My phone refuses to boot up.

It started as soon as I received a phone call from my brother and we were in the middle of a conversation when the phone suddenly goes off. I tried to restart it, I even removed the battery and replaced it but when I press the power button I get the initial boot sequence showing the htc logo and then the phone would just go of. I thought that maybe the battery is low but when I plug it to a power outlet it keeps trying to boot but keeps switching off and it just does this over and over.
Please I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem before, I really don't know what to do.

Try a Hard Reset using the device buttons:
1. With the phone off. If it’s frozen or unresponsive, pull then replace the battery.
2. Press and hold the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons and power the phone back on.
3. Continue to hold Volume Up and Volume Down until a factory reset screen appears.
Hope this helps!

Well I just did that but the problem persist. I should note that occasionally it does complete its boot up and I can use the phone but it can go off at any time and once it does this, i cannot get it to completely boot up. Once it attempts a boot up and goes off I cannot even restart it by pressing the power button until I replace the battery or plug it into a power socket or the computer at which point it will just keep booting up and shutting down.
Something far wrong there. Get a replacement device.

Hi, I have got the same problem on my HD7 and I am completely noob to many new words Goldcard, jailbroken, etc. Would you please advise me exactly what you did (i mean flahing procedure) and really appriciate any help.
Well if you have got an O2 HD7, then I would advise you to get one of the O2 ROMS from ansar, download it then press and hold the volume down button when booting up your device, connect the phone to your pc and start the app. More instructions in the HD7 development thread.
There's nothing wrong the phone. Don't hard reset or flash it. It happens from time to time, just give it some time and eventually you will see a battery icon appear. Then after awhile it will boot up.
Again, do not flash or hard reset just be patient. I believe it just needs to drain all the way down as it doesn't have enough power to fully boot.
Not booting up

HD7 Randomly Broke - Won't Boot Up!

I was using my T-Mobile HD7, browsing the web, on the official Mango update, when the browser completely froze. I couldn't even turn off the phone by holding the power button, so I removed the battery.
I then tried to turn the phone on again, but it won't get past the first HTC splash screen!
It's seriously like the phone just died. Idk what went wrong, but it still doesn't boot after removing the battery, removing the SIM, etc. What else should I try?? I guess a master reset would be the next option? But then all my data is lost......

I've been using the update for a week now. If there was a problem, it should have happened sooner... This feels like Windows Mobile :/ and there's no way to get your data back!!!!!!
I had the exact same thing happen to me. If it won't boot, you'll need to do a hardware key factory reset.
Pull the battery to turn off the phone. Put the battery back in, but don't turn it on yet. Hold down both Vol + and Vol - and the power button for a few seconds until a white screen comes up with instructions to factory reset. Takes about 30 seconds total.
Did you update from the leaked mango version also? Curious if the problem was related to the leaked firmware.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 won't work if not plugged on external power source

Hi guys,
The following problem has taken me litterally DAYS of reading XDA, trying everything I could, but still no solution. Googling and searching this forum didn't help either, and it's totally weird.
It's a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000, on which were installed, almost two years ago, the ClockWorkMod recovery, Darky's ROM, Froyo, and everything was fine for months. Then, one day, out of nowhere, it switched off, without notice. Impossible to switch it on again! I remembered having seen some strange battery behavior few days before, like falling from 80% to 30% with no reason, so I thought of a battery issue. I plugged it for a full night. In the morning, I was able to boot it, but not easily, and all apps were crashing: during boot, or when launched manually. Yes, all I tried were crashing! Then, the phone became fully not bootable: press the power button, the screen shows "Samsung GT-I9000", then switches off...
I ordered a new battery: same result.
A guy from a phone repair store told me to plug the phone, and keep the power button down for 2 minutes: after this, I could reboot the phone, and thus, wipe data (factory reset). But it didn't help.
After "playing" a bit with it, I realized that the problem is:
the phone won't boot if an external source of power is not connected (as said above, white text shows, then the phone "dies")
if started with power cord/usb, the phone will work fine, all the time
if started with power cord/usb, and the external power source removed once the phone is booted, the phone will work fine, UNTIL the screen goes black for power saving mode or by pressing pwoer button, after which, within seconds, you can't open the phone anymore. I mean: if you press the start/power button immediately after the screen goes black, the screen goes on again, and the phone is ok. If you wait for few seconds, it's over, you can't do anything, and have to reboot the phone. This said, the phone doesn't vibrate, so I suppose it's not really off. But then... what is this state??
I really tried my best: updated to GB2.3.6, bricked my phone trying to re-install the CWM and having a bootloop, installed and used Odin and Heimdall, reverted to stock kernel, etc, etc, etc.
I feel sorry to bother you guys, I was really convinced that with the incredibly huge amount of data, how-tos, explanations, etc. I would manage to get rid of this, but this problem, though I don't really think it's hardware (but maybe it is?) stayed across so many kernels, roms, etc. that it's killing me!
For the record:
Model number: GT-I9000
Micro-software (?): 2.3.6
Baseband: I9000XXJW4
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000XWJW7-CL1125830 [email protected] #2 (problem was the same with [email protected] #2)
Version number: GINGERBREAD.XXJW4
Any help would be greatly appreciated, considering that a wireless phone that needs to be wired is a little bit of an issue...
Thanks in advance !

That's a very strange problem... let's try something, remove the battery, sim card and sd card and hold the power button for 1-2 minutes, btw when the screen is off, is really the phone off or just the screen? did you try to make a call to your phone when the screen is off?

Hi timberman thanks for the answer!
You're very right: I totally forgot to say that what initially allowed me to restart my phone "regularly" was this procedure of pressing the power button for 2 minutes (hint given by a man from a repair shop). Before this, I couldn't (kind of a bootloop).
It's a very good question! I don't think the phone is really off in fact, because there isn't this vibration saying the phone turned off... Let me try to call it!
F..k! I was redirected right away to the voicemail... so... phone was off
I'm starting to think it's an harware issue... I reinstalled lots of ROMs, kernel, etc. Same ****...
Any idea?

Hi! Answering is already nice
I tried the button pressed for 2 minutes without battery: didn't change anything.
I tried playing a sound: MAN, YOU'RE A GENIUS!!! Launching the music, then forcing the screen off with power button lets the music play, and OF COURSE, I can reactivate the screen by pressing the home button. The screen goes off normally again after few seconds, but the music is still playing, etc. So, as long as the music goes, the bug doesn't happen!
Other hints:
For some time already, when I was removing the phone from my ear after a call, quite often, the screen was staying off, and I had to press a lot of buttons to have it on again, and be able to close the call
The moment where it crashes when booting without power is the very INSTANT where the initial white text (Samsung Galaxy S) goes brighter. So, if you unplug the power cord just after this, the boot ends normally. In summary, something happens at boot just after screen brightness changes which is the same thing happening when the screen goes off for power saving. All this, only when no external power is plugged.
Hehe, we (you) are making progress

Hi again, it seems like your phone is unable to exit the deep sleep mode or something like that so, let`s try another thing, in ICS or JB there´s an option in the developer option settings that unfortunately is not present in gingerbread roms, so, you can try to switch to a ICS/JB rom and go to settings-developer options and disable the "PM sleep mode" let`s see what happens then

I tried to install ICS, with a GREAT tutorial found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493 Sadly, the phone reboots after installing the ICS kernel, and then doesn't work anymore, I had to reinstall the Gingerbread (I tried twice).
Last news: I let the phone play music (sound muted!!) for about 12 or 18h: all was fine! So I decided to pause the music, and see what happens. Boom ((c) Steve Jobs)!! The screen went black, and phone was "dead". I was expecting this, so no panick, I put back my SIM card, my SD card, and tried to reboot, with power cord plugged: it boots until the screen shows the small loader animation, then the empty battery image, but then goes black again, instead of showing the charging battery!! Download mode is still available, so I'll try to reflash the kernel, say.
It's like if each time screen was put black, phone was dying.
I can't stress enough how I appreciate your help: even if we can't save my phone, it's very pleasant to be able to TRY things. Thanks man!! :good:
Update: I reinstalled all... and it's not, even with power cord in, going further than the "Samsung Galaxy S" white text. The moment this picture disappears from screen, phone is dead. For good this time ?

Hi! No, I didn't, I used Odin. But now, I can't try anything anymore The only "results" I can get from this phone are:
- enter download mode and update from Odin (maybe from Heimdall, too, but I didn't check)
- reboot until the first moment the screen goes black, after which, the phone becomes fully unresponsive

4 Even the computer wont even recognize it.
Its just a Dead Screen no movement in screen tried all possible step No luck , it all happened suddenly.
Its just the same as it came from company (No Root not even opened its just like new phone.)

How are you sure that the battery is good and charged. Normally after one year if the usage is heavy, the chances of battery down happens. So make sure battery is good. Secondly you mentioned volume down button, how about vol up button ie recovery mode?

This happened to me as well last week. Tried everything but failed.
I did below steps and my phone is up & working
1) Remove the battery and keep it in a dry place for 4-6 hours (Very important step to make this work)
2) Place the battery back into computer and do not turn ON the phone
3) Plug the phone to wall charger and charge the phone for at least an Hour (I kept for 2 Hrs)
4) Remove the charger and gently press the power button for 15 secs
5) This should turn the phone back ON
Above steps helped for me. Let me know if this worked for you also

Ankush,
In your case I can think of only 2 things
1) If you have CWM installed then
press and hold "Volume UP Key + Power Key + Home Key" all together for 30 secs (may be a min) and see if you get recovery screen
If yes then all is ok & you just need to flash a new ROM
2) If you do not have CWM then
press and hold "Volume Down Key + Power Key + Home Key" all together for 30 secs (may be a min) and see if you get a custom screen
If yes then you can install custom ROM (or original ROM) using ODIN.
Let me know if anything helps you here

This happened to me as well last week. Tried everything but failed.
I did below steps and my phone is up & working
1) Remove the battery and keep it in a dry place for 4-6 hours (Very important step to make this work)
2) Place the battery back into computer and do not turn ON the phone
3) Plug the phone to wall charger and charge the phone for at least an Hour (I kept for 2 Hrs)
4) Remove the charger and gently press the power button for 15 secs
5) This should turn the phone back ON
Above steps helped for me. Let me know if this worked for you also

This step kinda weird.. Since I my note never get wet. I hope it will work.. I tried it later.. I dont have much budget to upgadet to Note 3 now. :crying:
Same kind of error
Over the night my phone closed. When I try to open it, on the screen apeared "Insert PIN to decrypt your ~something~ ". I never encrypted my phone so I tried to restart. I got stuck on the samsung logo. Then I removed the battery and put it back in and my device never started again. I have 2 batteries and none of them worked. I can charge the batteries independently and this is not the issue.

Have the same problem right now.. did you find a solution eventually?
Same happened to my device today. Had trouble with some apps before. Wanted to play back a two days old backup. But my phone never woke up again. Shut down forever. Never got to recovery. Had the latest cm11 nightly. Now its dead! RIP. My dear friend. We've gone a long way together. Never intended to replace you anytime soon. But I can't be without a Phone. Moving on to Galaxy S5 now. Hope it can fill the gapp.
Same here, completely dead after a reboot. I took it apart but I see no damage or signs of burn damage anywhere on the motherboard or other components. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot and find out specifically what happened?
i am not sure, mayb the phone is design to last for only certain years, new apps launch make the phone in applicable for be running with latest apps and everything. Or mayb the phone is design with a timer to self destroy its chip or component after specific numbers of days being used??

My One keep restarting and stuck at HTC screen

Hey guys,
So I have had my One more than a year, never root, never install any mod in it, just simple, daily use. It worked well till last night when some weird thing happened:
- At first, the Back, Home and HTC buttons keep flashing along with the screen. When I unlock my screen pass lock and go to the home screen, it showed a notification like "To restart the phone, keep pushing the power button for (x) second" with x is the count down number. After that, the phone is automatically rebooting, then the problem happen again.
- After a few times, I manage to shut it down properly then turn the phone up. As I notice, as long as I doing something with the phone such as calling somebody or checking facebook or simply sliding the home screen, thing is normal. But as I stopped using it, that weird notification pop up again
- The phone keep restarting after that, again and again. Sometime it boot successful, but when Im go to the home screen, the notification shows up and my phone restarts again. As I couldnt turn off my phone, it is drained and out of battery.
- This morning, I put the cable in and try to charge it, and My One now stuck at the first HTC logo screen then restarting and then stuck again. That looping process is drive me crazy. As I try to pull out the cable, the phone is not working (Obviously) since it is out of battery.
- As I hold down Power and Volume down, I can enter bootloader screen. I saw a "locked" banner and cannot navigate through the menu and can not press Fastboot or anything. After 2-3 seconds, the phone is shut down and keep looping.
Long story shot, can anybody tell me how to fix this. As I have a lot of pictures that havent been backed up, I really appreciate if I can keep everything without doing a factory reset. Oddly enough, I cant even do a factory reset since the bootloader is not working.
Please help.
Have you tried a factory reset?
On boot, bottom down n power will take u to fastboot.
You can do a factory reset from there.
HTC sync can save your stuff.

As I mentioned above, I can hardly do anything from that fastboot screen. Up, down and power button is not working as I cannot navigate to recovery or factory reset. Even pushing power button wont do.
When I connect the phone to PC, nothing happen. It is because the phone is out of battery i suppose?
The problem is when I start to charge the phone, it will keep looping. But if I dont, the phone is death and I cant do anything.
I honestly dont know. I suspect you have
Fast boot selected under Settings>power.
You've got to try till you can get into fastboot otherwise send it for repairs.

Because this is exactly the message we usually get when holding the power button for more then 5 sec...
and that would explain the reboot issue
looks like the "power" key is always active
definitively sounds like an hardware issue imo
and your issue is even present in bootloader what confirm that this is an hardware defect.

You'll probably have to send it for repair. Better to contact HTC and see how much it will cost...
