can I flash Canadian firmware (SM-N920W8) on a SM-N920T from t-mobile?
I find it hard to believe nobody can answer this question.
I am with Rogers but purchased the phone outright as a refurb and would like to take advantage of their wifi calling but cannot with t-mobile firmware
How about changing the CSC and if that is possible, how to do?
guess not huh?
I'd love to get an answer to this question. I bought a Note 5 that was originally TMobile and now I'm using it in Canada on freedom mobile. The phone was working great until a few weeks ago when I tried to remove the root that was on it and now I'm stuck in a bootloop. I've tried to flash the N920W8 firmware from Canada but it fails... the backof the device says N920W8.. but when it connects to twrp it says its a N920T.
Guess I should try the 920T firmware with odin... ?

i would like an answer as well. have a note 5 bought here in Canada that was branded tmobile. but unlocked. tried flashing a rom and have had nothing but problems with imei/csc/service with sim card ever since. flashed stock n920t firmware 3 times with 3 different up-to-date firmware files and it hasn't fixed the issue. oddly enough i found out the number on the phones back is actually n920v so it's been rebranded once already. apparently because all phone info and twrp say it's n920t . will flashing Verizon firmware fix this? also if it's already been done once why can't i make the system n920w8 instead of n920t? how was it done than? or can i flash international rom ? really need to get service/imei/baseband/csc in working order. i can't afford a new phone .... so many questions...

Hello,
May someone help me please.. does anyone here flash a stock ROM Android 6 from different Versions of note 5 (N9208, N920C, N920G etc.) Does it work for your N920F? i want to upgrade my n920f note 5 to marshmallow or does anyone here have a stock ROM even just 5.1.1 can you please share it with me? please?
There is no such thing as the SM-N920F. The Note5 was never released in Europe. You should check your actual model by going to download mode.

Hey, i have bought the same note 5 SMN920F one month ago i was using a Ugandan simcard and it was fine, i really wanted to update it but i could not then i came to discover that it was originally a SMN920V, so i read that if i wanted to update it i have to install the original stock firmware SMN920V of which i did and it's working fine on wifi, i am in Uganda, so i tried inserting a Ugandan simcard then it shows me a massage "simcard is not from verizon wireless" so the simcard i have is not supported after i installed the stock firmware which i found here on sammobile. How can i overcome this ?and be able to use any other simcard as before

Yes by installing the original stock firmware SMN920V, you have locked the phone back to Verizon. Hence you must send it to an unlock technician or pay online for on a trusted website for it to be unlocked

Having the same issue here...What a bummer....Could anybody help me, please? Thanks...
Am having the same issue, is there any solution?
Has anyone found a way to debrand the device flashing an unlocked firmware?
Yep. Comsy Odin and the Canadian XAC firmware from updato.com. The information is in the R&D thread in the main Galaxy S8 forum but it's not the instructions at the beginning. You'll have to read through the thread to find what I'm talking about. I used it and I now have no Verizon or carrier branding at all and I have the Samsung boot screen. The only things preinsatlled are Micrsoft Office apps. I flashed my buddies phone too and he swears he gets better LTE coverage on straight talk. He says he has 5 bars at his house where he only had one before. This would suggest that either the radio is better or the XAC firmware unlocked another band. PLUS most if not all of the bugs from the Verizon software are gone. I highly recommend doing this. I flashed everything but the BL failed. My phone booted after quite a while and then I did a factory reset. You should remove any locks or pin before you flash it. Good luck!

What network ar you on? You may need to add the APN as they are all gone when you flash this firmware. You can always download the original firmware and flash back. You may get more useful info posting in the other thread as I seem to be the only one responding here.
it fixed itself, i waited a bit and got the network...weird
Awesome. Glad it worked out.
i wish it was possible to do it with an american rom so that all the samsung apps were not in the canadian version
I could not flash the XAC firmware. Tried the newest Odin as well. What exactly did you flash? Just the AP and the CSC? What firmware were you on before flashing the XAC firmware?
did you try prince odin?
Yeah it turned I had to use another computer to flash it. However, now I can't flash back to Verizon to get the XAA/XAA/VZW that Verizon folks are getting. My Samsung Pay doesn't work but android pay does lol

So is the unlocked firmware working on Verizon phones? You get a better deal if you go with the Verizon carrier ($100 gift card, wireless charger)over the unlocked at best buy . Also unlocked version not working with gear VR?
The U1 firmware does work on Verizon phones. I'm using it now but if you "convert" it, you lose some functionality like gear VR. If you went with a proper unlocked s8 then gear vr will work. Someone said their converted Vzw S8 works with gear vr but didn't work for me and others.

Is there a easy way to just flash the u1 firmware
just flash via Odin. It's that simple because it's basically the same hardware. Flashed quite a few times so dunno if you need a modified version of Odin but any recent Odin version should work.
Thanks flashed via Odin now have G955U1
does video calling work on unlocked firmware?

GearVR is working now. It was a Samsung issue server-side. It wasn't even working on legit US Unlocked models.

Hi all,
I bought the Galaxy S6 from AT&T when it came out, but switched over to T-Mobile from AT&T last year. Because of this, I have been unable to get any updates and have been stuck on Android 6.0 when the current release is android 7.0, so I've been thinking of flashing my phone. I was curious as to whether I'm able to flash my G920A with Tmobile's G920T rom? Would it work? And if so, after I flash it, would I be able to receive updates normally from T-mobile's servers, as I'm currently using a T-mobile sim, or would I have to flash every subsequent update?
Thanks
Doubtful, since AT&T has a locked bootloader. If the bootloader was unlocked you might be able to try.

You cannot flash a G920T firmware on a G920A. First off, Odin won't let you because the G920T firmware is only signed to be flashed on the G920T.
And even if you somehow rooted and used FlashFire to force the firmware onto your device, the firmware would brick the device, and without a USB jig or SD card port, the brick would be permanent.

I too am seeking answers on this as I have an SM-920A I brought over to t-mobile. Unlocked the phone, installed the t-mobile SIM and the phone works fine, except, it still has all the old ATT apps I no longer need or desire to be there AND without the T-Mobile apps installed, I cannot use their LTE Signal Booster. Is there any way I can install these t-mobile apps that would have come with the SM-920T load?

I'm sure I'm not the only one who ordered the S9 from Samsung direct with the intentions of flashing it to the carriers firmware. I checked on updato and don't see it there, does anyone else know where to get the firmware? I want to use it on Sprint so I believe the CSS is SPR for Sprint.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/SM-G960F/ here you go
for now there is only 1 german firmware available for download
And in case you find SamMobile too slow, I've uploaded the S9 firmware update (DBT) to AFH for having a mirror HERE
Thanks, I am in need of the US version for Sprint which the CSS I believe is SPR. I'll keep checking updato I know sammobile is super slow but if it's there and I start it now it may be done by the time I get my phone tomorrow.
Never done a carrier flash to an unlocked version. Few questions:
1. After flashing do you start getting the carrier OTA updates? And all carrier functions particularly wifi calling, visual voicemail, HD video calling start working?
2. How does the carrier fw dump work? Someone with sprint fw would have to do a carrier dump and uploads it (presumably without tinkering the content)?
3. If the file is tinkered with, since it's a signed file, the checksum would change and it wouldn't let you flash, right?? Sorry for the noob questions, just haven't done carrier flashes.

That is correct you are flashing the carriers version with their wonderful bloatware on top of it. Unfortunately for now that's the only way to get WiFi calling, VVM, and VoLTE. I just got the unlocked version today and currently downloading the Sprint firmware because without it I don't have those features. Hell LTE doesn't work on the stock version of the firmware.

Depends on the carrier. I know the s8 wifi calling and volte worked on tmobile with the unlocked firmware.
I used the SamFirm application and downloaded the Sprint firmware but yet after flashing it I still have the stock samsung firmware. I don't see any sprint software on it at all nor do I see LTE calling plus or WiFi calling. Plus on the stock firmware it will not give me any LTE data and when looking at the APN there are 2 listed but none are checked and you can't check any. It was like this out of the box before I even attempted to flash the so called Sprint variant version. I spent a good 4 1/2 hours between going to the Sprint store to get a new SIM, to calling in, and the online chat and nobody had a clue it was the same old troubleshooting steps and the best they could do was file a ticket and have someone get back to me between 24 and 48 hours. I went through this same BS when I activated the unlocked S8, the iPhone 8, and when I switched back to the S8, plus when one of our phones broke and had to switch, and now this. They can never get anything activated correctly. At least on the S8 after flashing the Sprint firmware I was able to have all the customization's but I'm not seeing it on here.
My unlocked s9 from samsung.com works on sprint lte just fine....
I do however want to flash the sprint one to get the fake VoLTE and voicemail working.
I have SM-G965U Verizon. So it I flash this will all the Verizon Boatware will be removed? And logo

My wife had a dual sim s8 and hated the dual sim features - found them annoying as she only uses one sim. I legitimately could not find a way to disable them. I flashed every rom I could find and dual sim features always carried over.

Can you confirm if the root is hustle firmware\OS based or system based? I don't like the idea of having to flash updates every couple of months and then re rooting the device or in my current case, I need to re unlock the boot loader and re root the phone if I update the firnware...which is bloody stupid. Proper root should be regardless the firmware.
Dpo you think we will get there with the s9? Xposed framework installed and running smoothly on Oreo?

I bought an S10+ from Amazon renewed and they sent me a SM-G975F, which is on Claro mobile. I've never heard of it and I don't even think its from the US, but it works fine. I just wanted to flash the phone to Tmobile or unlocked so it can get updates from Tmobile. I'm completely new to this and I looked up how to do it and got completely lost. I found a guide on how to use Odin and Prince cosmy but it still didn't work. I've been through all the guides I could find but nothing seems to work. Could someone help guide me on how to do it correctly? I'd even be willing to venmo someone $10 if it works.
Well you're in the S10 forum, not the S10+ forum. Anyway, you can't flash G975U firmware (which is t-mobile in this case) to a G975F phone. You might can flash the International Samsung firmware using the patched version of Odin, but I'm not 100% on that.
