Best battery efficient ROM? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, i don't know if it's just me(i guess so) but after nougat update, my phone's battery life became worse. I have the 920T version and if with marshmallow i was charging it once at the end of the day, now i'm charging it twice a day and i didn't use any new app after the update. I used once the nougat version of the ported note 7 rom and the battery life was even better than on marshmallow so now i feel a bit confused why the official update for me has this result.... do you recommend to install a custom rom to fix this issue or there is another way(which i don't know why i didn't try) to fix the battery issue? thanks

Dont expect much of Nougat, the firmware is full of bugs, however you can try a custom ROM and see for yourself, everybody has a different phone usage and your battery also depends of your carrier quality in your zone. Ive tried almost every nougat ROM . and the best battery-friendly are NDroid-ModV7(by far, but wait to V8) and DrKetans N8, Hope it gets better

[Q] Battery Issues after update

I recently updated my Galaxy Note N7000 with the latest Indian firmware... DDLSC.. But after the update, I am facing a lot of battery issues. The battery does not even last for a day. It used to be much better with the older firmware(ICS). Please suggest me anything to get maximum battery out of my phone.
I am willing to install any latest firmware from any other country as well. It is not a problem or any other custom ROM that will solve my battery problem! I really need a lot of battery backup for my phone as I am mostly out of my house.
Please help me!!
Battery is always aproblem wif the note... i suggest take a look at ebay they are offering a double battery bank for 2300 inr.. that will really help u to get battery as they are giving out a batterry of 5300 mah. I personally dnt think a custom rom can help...
P.s. - if i ever meet a nokia official... i wud suggest them to stop making phones and concentrate on making battries and start exporing them to samsung or iphones lolz...

Very often after flashing a new a battery problem happen, it's necessary to calibrate the battery using appli like Battety Calibration.
That's a problem for a couple of users, unfortunately.
Specially JB rom ! I've tried several tips, like switch off wifi, sync, Google now, multi windows, battery calibration etc, without success.
Still waiting a decent rom in the future? (dreaming is permitted, right? )

[Q] [Battery related] S3 Mini i8190L update from stock rom to custom, is it worth it?

Hi guys,
i recently sold my crappy Xperia Tipo (i goddamn hate it) and bought an S3 Mini, i love it, it's my first day with it, but i'm having serious issues with the battery life, it discharges too fast,
When i bought it i drained all the battery, then charged it (turned off) to 100%.... but still its draining too fast.
The phone is brand new... i don't know why it discharges so fast, it's on android 4.1.2:
Should i update to a custom rom? i would like to taste KitKat, that CM11...
Do you suggest it?

The battery is not our great ally here xD
But custom rom have bugs, no matter what ppl say.. they have and will have for a while...
IF you dont care about warranty and want to take the chance to improve your cell, yes, there are some good roms to upgrade Jelly Bean to KitKat or just update to 4.3
Personal, Maclaw have a great work done in his CM and Carbon (Don Like at all Slim or OAKP ) that work with kit kat, still in process; in the case of 4.3 dont know, i just did the jump from 4.1 to 4.4
I'm actually using Mac CM 11.0 and I have to charge it every night, the same as with a Stock ROM / based custom ROM. I'm actually doing around 5 to 6 hours calling and a little bit of Line/Whatsapp during the day.
It's faster, and I like Open Source ROMs the most, because of the design, but it's up to you.

hey guys,
the road so far:
I started rooting and installing TWRP recovery in my phone, then i updated to Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 and flashed gapps...
i noted that the phone improved just a little bit, because without the bloatware it's much better, i don't have any bugs actually...
From 5 am to 11.30 am it went down 3% without 3G, i went to sleep and lost 3 % that's a little bit better...
I suggest to do a full rom backup with TWRP and try a new custom rom, 4.4 or 4.3!!
leave this post open for if someone knows something else about the battery life.

Dont know much how long is battery life with the stock rom, bcause i started using the phone directly with the CM11 of maclaw. I am running the 20140120 version, and i am always reading about the news and comments of the last maclaw's release.. (think i will do an update soon..)
I see that battery life increase changing the governor ( abyssplug ) and the I/O scheduler ( sio ). I dont use wifi so much but often 3g data connection (chat, mail pushing, some internet surfing etc..) , listen music, make some photos... airplane mode during night!
after 1,5 day of use.. i should charge!
had an xperiaE before with a stock 4.1.2 jb and the battery life was greater... ( but is completely another device with another hw and os .. )

I'm kindda pissed of with the Xperia line, my friend had the Xperia U and smashed it across the hallway because after hours and hours of flashing new roms it always came down to poor...extreme poor performance haha.
What's the governor ?
governor takes control of which the CPU is used... there are a lot of threads about...or just google the word and you will find a lot of literature..

OOS or custom rom?

I bought one plus 3t because of the amazing specs nd the oos but os dissapointed me on the battery life so i thought of flashing a custom rom. I would like to know your thoughts too. custom rom or OOS?
I'm on official RR and I get 6-7 hours SOT, it also has a built in wakelock blocker. If you want to stay on OOS then try Franco kernel.
OOS that comes with 1+3T's have some error in the code, after a few days/weeks of use people experience insane battery drains and overheating, just do a factory reset (first with keeping all your data, if doesn't work, do a full wipe).
But since unlocking, rooting, installing a custom recovery and ROM doesn't ruin your warranty, if you have some time on your hands, why not try LOS, RR, or some other ROM? If you don't like them, you can always go back to OOS.
I'm running OOS Open Beta 4 right now and I experience a good battery life. It was much worse before.
Franco kernel and OOS beta 4 7.1.1
Battery life has drastically improved. I'd clock out at 3.5-4 hours SOT before on regular to medium usage. Now? I'm closing in at 6 hours with fairly normal to heavy use. Varies day to day. This is probably the best update out there of OOS. Before I didn't upgrade from Marshmallow and remained on the stock v3.5.4 OOS which came with the phone. I jumped to Nougat but it was disappointing not to mention the bugs. Been using the new Beta 4 released three days ago with Franco Kernel. Simply put it's amazing! The last update blocked out my msgs. This doesn't.
Happy flashing!

Fastest ROM right now for the galaxy s3 mini (GT-I8190)?

My galaxy s3 mini lags a lot. So I flashed TWRP yesterday.
Can anybody give me a good recommendation?

Only problem with Stock Roms (Virginity v14, Project Noble, Ronin) is that they all have this unpredictable Snapchat bug. Quite often Snapchat (both pictures and videos) zoom in like 50% which makes the text often not visible. This is the main reason I stopped using these ROM's.
Virginity V14 also drops 10-30% battery overnight when device is turned off.
My answer to the best s3 mini ROM (i8190) is the following: (not in any particular order)
Omni 5.1.1 (20160125)
Snapchat video's are green. But I don't use this often, so no problem to me.
Resurrection Remix 6.0 (20170305)
Both have great battery life, great performance and offer great features since its LP and MM. Don't assume these ROM's are worse than STOCK because they are 5.1 and 6.0, these are part of THE BEST ROM'S I've come across since years.

Earlier Omni 5.1.1 releases have insane battery consumption in my opinion. Right now I'm using Omni 4.4.4 (20151230) and it's the best one I ever used. Great battery life & awesome performance.
Also I've installed FB Lite and Messenger Lite instead of the traditional ones. These apps BARELY use any RAM. It's like 5-10 MB when it's running, compared to 80mb with most recent Messenger. Big recommendation!

first of all thank you for your recommendation, and yeah I have used omni 4.4.4 (omni gamer version) for a while. It was perfect kitkat rom that I have ever used but I want to use lollipop from now on. Isn't there any lollipop rom which have stabilility and long life battery?

Any ROM with a newer Android version than KitKat is basically getting too heavy for this old device, though it's nice to have
To answer your question, I'd recommend Resurrection Remix 6.0 (20170305) over Omni LP. I haven't used that ROM with FB and Messenger Lite, but I have no doubt it will be even better!

You are right and I really thank you for your advice. I am using omni 5.1.1 now, it is the most stable lollipop rom that I have ever seen but its battery performance is bad. Therefore I will try rr 6.0. But as I know rr is not smooth on our device because of customization. Is this version smooth?

Very!
I always thought of RR the same until I started using it. Ofcourse you shouldn't tweak every option you can find. The only thing I change on every ROM is the battery icon...
The phone lagged very rarely as i remember, but that's probably because there were 5 apps running in the background. Clearing your recents every now and then is probably the best way to keep your phone running smoothly.

then, my the last question is about battery life  how its battery life? for example I experience a terrible battery consumption in omni 5.1.1. I charged to phone %100 and then I sleep for 7-8 hours. When I wake up I saw it consumed almost %30-%35 of battery. Sometimes it consumes more. Do you have any idea about its battery life?

It's awesome man
For shear performance i'd have to put forward Omni LP with Fkernel with OC and Nova Thor settings. Unfortunately Fkernel takes some configuring (init.d script) to get Nova thor settings to work. I believe Nova Thor settings was removed from latest version. I never quite got the stability with this setup. As for Omni LP and battery issues you must boot in twp and with battery at 100% delete the batterystats.bin. This made all the difference.

Somehow I have always had that issue with all the Nougat 7.1.2 (LineageOS 14.1) that I have tried, even with phone completely turned off it drained so fast!!! For me battery life was OK with Marshmallow 6.0.1 so I keep going back to that one. For my not so fancy needs and stability, I prefer either Resurrection Remix 20170531 or LineageOS 13.0 20170328 stable for now. Also current/latest Nougat 7.1.2 RR 20171220 and LineageOS 20171215 seem to have issues (like not booting) so you'd have to wait for newer versions of those if you want to try. I use a black background and set timeout of screen to 30 sec. instead of 1 min. default.

As of now, A10 latest is 2004.60 for WW.
Stock Android 9 on this device has the best battery and least temperatures. You can get 15-20 hours SOT (at 60hz) depending upon your usage. Is also really stable. Games work perfectly on A9. This is the best ROM for endurance and gaming on this phone.
Stock A10 has kinda worse battery and heats up more. SOT is like 11-15 hours (60hz) depending upon usage. Games are slightly less optimised, but nonetheless you get all the features this device provides.
Coming to custom ROMs, Omni ROM (A10) has excellent battery life. Almost as good as A9. Excellent stable UI. But you loose air triggers, and it isn't good for gaming.
HavocOS has battery life similar to Stock A10, and has the best aesthetics. More customisation than Omni. Again, no air triggers and not so good for gaming.
Choice is upto you.
It is recommended to stay at a9 i have tested all android 10 and a9 is much more better a10 sucks for this phone unfortunately.
On A10 I'm taking like 10-15% less battery than A9, winning some different things like Quickswitch (if you are rooted) and the traditional patches and features, so I'm staying in A10. But A9 is a bit better in battery, yep.
Just to add my two cents to confuse the OP even more over which rom version to use...
I'm also on A10 latest 2004.60 and don't have any heating issues, never have A9 or 10. I don't really monitor battery much at all but there's not much difference between A9 and latest 10 with my usage. With a battery this big it isn't a concern of mine. With my average usage lasting 2 days (I mainly only play Bike Race for games).
So yeah, I'm happy to stay on A10.
It's probably also worth noting (although I've not tried any custom rom on this device, so you'll need to check), if you are gonna use Havoc or Omni, you will need to have latest stock build flashed before flashing those roms.
Let us know what you decide... Good luck

Thinking exactly the same right here. Small differences between both just to downgrade. For me, as I said, 10-15%. If I want that % loosing the smoothness of A10 with Quickswitch, I will return to A9 some day

Yeah. But for me I got like 50% more battery on A9 than A10 stock. A simple comparison with other phones suggests only A9 truely gives you 6000mah feel. A10 is more like 4000mah phones. I did quite a lot of testing too.
