Bypassing G1 registration

ok so i am trying to register my new g1(from ebay) but i dont have a sim card that has a data plan. so i have been trying to get access to the adb mode to bypass the registration. this is what i've done so far:
1. downgraded to rc29
2. installed sdk
3. installed adb driver
this is where im getting stuck, when i go to the cmd to see if my g1 is connected, my computer says "adb is not a vaild command or program" So i dont know what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
oh one other thing for some reason when i click on the adb program in the sdk it opens for about 3sec then closes.....any ideas??
thanks
You could root your G1 and load a custom 1.6 ROM such as Cyanogen's 4.2.14.1 or SuperD v1.7. Or, you could even load an Eclair or Hero rom if you're curious
I followed this guide to root my G1 and load the RA Recovery Image 1.5.2. Be sure to watch both parts
[The kid that makes the videos also has many other videos of him demo-ing custom ROM's and a tutorial on how to install them.]
On many of the custom ROM's, there's a "skip" button when you get to registration to bypass it.
This page has many ROM's that you can download and try out. Caveat: wipe before installing a new ROM.
I'm not responsible for any damage done to your G1 as i have only shown you other people's creations and methods; i take no credit
he cant install them if he just downgraded.
you need to make sure your path is set up correctly. if you havent gotten it to work, the guys at androidoverdrive.com will help you

I got G1 bought in uk (continental)
HOW TO ROOT IT FIRST AND THAN INSTALL 2.1 ANDROID on it.
Don't tell me its on the forum, because its not.all the answers are confusing, everyone is trying different files etc.
I need 100% working sollution ,someone who have done it, and knows exacly the process.
I know i have to downgrade first DRC92, than root it ,than install 2.1 .

Welcome to the forum and thanks for not clicking any of the stickies labeled READ ME BEFORE YOU POST in any of the forums. We appreciate this, because now we get to spend time reading this thread and being annoyed, when the time could be better served helping people that actually read the directions and maybe got stuck. And yes, I am being sarcastic.

G1 Root / Upgrade Tutorial - this will root, upgrade recovery, upgrade radio, upgrade spl, partition your sdcard and install the newest cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1.

I started reading through that, downloading the files that it said to download but I'm stuck at the "1.6 Recovery Image" file. The link goes to a page that offers files for the Android DevPhone, but I just have a normal TMobile G1. What file am I supposed to use?

You're kidding, right? When I tried that upgrade tutorial (the one at myhangoutonline.com) *none* of the files were available for download. Every single one I clicked on went to a "404" page.

Ok, thanks, but... I'm still a bit confused: all the instructions I've seen for upgrading to Android 2.1 say to use cyanogenmod, but the cyanogenmod site says that it is based on Android 1.6 (according to cyanogenmod.com/about), so is that really what I'm supposed to use?

I apologize, stupid SEO plugin was rewriting the url and messing up a seperate plugin. Links are now working if you still need to upgrade.
My tutorial shows you how to root and upgrade everything and install cyanogenmod 4.2.15.1 if you want to try the 2.1 version which is in testing, go to the cyanogenmod repository on my site, go into the testing folder for the G1 and download that rom instead. Use that rom instead of 4.2.15.1 as the final step.

Just put the 1.6 on then you can flash 2.1 found HERE
Follow the directions on the main post.
If you have gtalk pm me your gtalk email and I'll try and step you through it if you absolutely can't figure it out.
Thanks for all the answers! I think I have a good understanding of what I need to do now, so here goes...
*crosses fingers*
I'm following the instructions on myhangoutonline.com.
Well, so far so good, with some minor hiccups:
During the downgrade your phone step, when the phone says "Press the action key" after step 6, it's talking about the trackball button. Took me a little while to figure that out.
However, after I pressed it, it just went back to the initial multicolor gradient screen, with the addition of a line in the middle that said "Serial0". (maybe it was there before, but I missed it?) I ended up having to pull the battery because I could figure out how to make it reboot.
After reboot I had to go through the Google sign in process. Not a big deal, but it'd be nice to mention that this is necessary.
Upgrading recovery seemed to go pretty much as described. On to the apparent dangerous step of upgrading the radio & spl!
Uh oh! It looks like something didn't work. I started up in recovery mode, but there's no option in the menu for "Mount SD card".
I tried going to console, then "ls /sdcard", but no files show up, and /sdcard doesn't show up as a mounted filesystem when I run "mount".
I couldn't figure out how to get out of the console ("exit" just took me back to a "press enter" prompt, and then back into the console), so I ended up pulling the battery again.
Now what? Should I try upgrading recovery again?

problem: Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 CWR for eMMC

I can't post to this thread because I don't have 10 posts..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938200&page=61
I watched a great looking video on youtube of this rom in use and decided to flash my eMMC.
I logged into gmail and that works fine, but I am unable to install anything from the market. It just won't download.
I can not download the books from my nook account w/the nook app.
I can browse the web/use gmail/etc.
Any idea what is going on?
If you look at the original post, he links to a market fix. It's just before where he lists the "images" for download.
facepalm...
I was already flashing the 1.1.0 stock CWM image when I reloaded this page
hope by "find google framework" he meant GMail because I didn't see anything called "Google Framework"
He did not mean gmail. He means google framework. When you are in the applications you have to go to the all tab.
If the fix posted in the ROM thread doesn't work for you, follow the directions to the letter in this video to fix your market.
Yes, I followed those directions and they worked great!! I can download youtube/etc now.
However when I tried to purchase "SetCPU for Root Users" it is stuck at the "Authorizing Purchase" before it downloads/installs. Did I get the wrong thing for overclocking?
I got the confirmation email for the Order Receipt.

[Q] Need help with CM 6 install on A855.

I have tried to use the search but all I get is stuff of on 7 and 9 and I would like to install CM6. Anyone have a link because I just can't find it.
If you just need the CM6.x rom files, I have a boat load of them in my collection linked in my sig. You install it just like you would any other CM rom, ROM first, then the proper gapps file for the rom second _before_ booting. The gapps file you need is "gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip" also in my collection.
good luck
Thanks for the response!

One thing though. I haven't done this before. Any link to a step by step.
This is the only one I have found so far:
First time flashing CM 6.1 to your Droid (or coming from another ROM)?
1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager (Don't see a ROM manager)
2. Do a Nandroid backup! (Not sure how to do this. Do I download an app for that?)
3. Update your radio if necessary (I am guessing this is a Euro term)
4. WIPE (Again no idea where to start)
5. Install the ROM ( I am sure by the time I get here I will be able to do this)
5. Optionally install the Google Addon
A friend suggested these apps:
download rom manager and clockwork recovery and nandroid.
I didn't find clockwork recovery but found another.
I just don't want to brick. I use this for my work phone. I have other options for a phone if all goes wrong but I just want to find as much info as possible before I commit.
SO many files on that page I don't know were to start???

Ahhh, I see, so you haven't even rooted your phone yet? If that's the case then I'm going to have to just refer you to some other threads/guides because you have a lot of reading to do.
I have a quite a few on my site, when in my folder, just go to parent directory a couple of times and then you will see the link for my Motorola A855 info.
Here's some more:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/74028-root-droid-1-regardless-os-version.html#post766732
http://androidforums.com/droid-all-...oid-without-rsd-lite-up-including-frg83d.html
You can also google "SuperOneClick" and find info about that. PLEASE be careful and read all the info carefully before you proceed. Also, there are a boat load of video guides on Youtube, but most all of them are out-fo-date and will soft-brick your phone.
good luck
Go read all that stuff above, but also go to the cyanogenmod website and read the wiki for flashing droid 1.
Good luck!

[Q] Problems Downgrading from D41510e to D41510c

I've tried following this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-flash-stock-kdz-offline-lg-l90-t2803479), but it just isn't working for me. The tool gets stuck at 49% whenever I try to flash the D41510c version. I couldn't download the drivers using the tool either so I manually installed the drivers from LG's website (not sure if that makes a difference). Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm really stumped
Got it and a little assistance
Where did you manage to find the kdz file for the 10c version? All I could get from the link provided was the 10e which is that latest update that caused the issue....
Nevermind...I managed to get it to go through. As soon as it did, I was able to use TowelRoot to root my phone. PM me for the drivers link and the 415-10c if you still need them. I'm not at 10 posts yet this time around to be able to add them here.

Can you email me those drivers please?
It's easy to search the forums.
The drivers will be automatically installed using the attached program (directly from LG).http://www.xanscorp.org Just go to the program download file under XanTech.
Uploading the kdz also...but that'll take some time due to its size.
Can you report back if you were able to get this done?
I was reading through the guide and all downloaded items are bit confusing.
Do you know of the guide that is clear and concise step by step - and that offers download of only things I need, and not 5 times tools that are not needed?
The server for my page would not allow the size, but it's also here: http://oudhitsquad.com/android/?dir=LGE/Firmware/D415
