Lineage Os and app stock Moto X 2014 - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone ! Above all, a thank you for your tutorials on Forum that are superbly accurate. : D I'm French and my English is bad, I apologize.
I come here to ask a question about the Rom LineageOs 14.1 for the Moto X 2014, code-named "victara".
As for the unlocking of the bootloader, the installation of the recovery, all this is already very well explained on the site.
I already have experience in the field, with my motorola moto G, under cyanogenMod 14.1, now with the screen in 1000 pieces, It's not very easy, thank you transport ... :rolleyes
My question is, can we keep the App stock (Ambient Display, Moto Voice, hand over the screen to display the time and notifications ?) Keeping them via TitaniumBackup of the Rom Stock , 6.0, and flashing them during the installation of LineageOs 7.1.1?
I read that a few people by flashing this Rom, and above all by unlocking the BootLoader, lost the GSM network. How can you remedy a worry knowing that on XDA no one solves the worry? I spent hours reading the forum, and it worries me to flash my phone.
Back on the Rom Stock and re-lock the BootLoader, by being passed on the current stock Rom, in Nougat, 7.1.1, it is impossible to reuse its Backup of its Rom Stock due to the "gpt.bin" which is not The same, so brick the phone because passing on an older version? All links for Rom Stocks of XT1092 - EU are HS on several post I have read ... Can I flash another rom stock ? Like xt1095 and other ? French telephone networks are different from us ...
A big thank you for your answer,
Slygers.

No, you cannot keep the stock Moto apps. There are alternatives that function similarly.
You should not lose GSM by unlocking the bootloader or flashing a ROM. I have not heard of anyone experiencing that. You may need to alter your APNs to work on your network on the custom ROM.
Do NOT attempt to re-lock your bootloader. You cannot re-lock it, and you may brick your device when attempting. You can revert to your stock ROM but cannot re-lock your phone. Just make a full device backup in your recovery of choice that you can restore.
If you want to convert to xt1095, see here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/general/guide-xt1097-to-xt1095-nextel-t2972693

Hello !
Thank you for responding so quickly, and to provide such an accurate response. :victory:
Just a little last question, to make a backup of my current stock rom, when I would be in the TWRP, I select all the possibilities? I did not really find a tutorial on backup,
Thanks for the link, converting the xt1092 to xt1095 pure edition, if ever i have a network problem i can now have the modem files.

Yes, just back up and select all of the options. You may also choose to not do data. In that case, it will just restore the ROM itself and not touch data.

Sorry mate, it isn´t exactly clear what your request is. You say you want to go back to official stock rom but you also write you don´t have your bootloader unlocked neither a custom recovery installed.
So how were you able to flash any custom rom? The condition for this is an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery. I´m sorry if i misunderstand your posting but your english is a bit confusing.

[Q] Downgrade from 5.0.2 to 4.4 via twrp ?

I was just wondering if i can go back from stock ota updated 5.0.2 to 4.4 kitkat with my twrp backup without problems ?
You can downgrade to 4.4.4 without issues. But I never tested such thing using TWRP backup, but, as far as I know, KitKat bootloader is different of Lollipop, so you may brick some files in your Titan. If you really want to downgrade, do it properly, by downloading DSDALL firmware and then, using fastboot to order the commands. If you want to automate downgrade process, you can use my tool that you can take a look here. You still need to download the stock ROM apart, tough. xD
Ok thank you very much. Guess I'll have to use titanium backup and fastboot then. Will definitely check your tool

No problem. Glad I helped
No you can easily downgrade using twrp.. Just wipe system cache data and dalvik cache and restore the system, data and boot of your kk backup.. You should be good to go
Flashing the firmware will surely brick your device

You cant downgrade your bootloader, and yes you cant use custom 5.1 roms with kk bootloader But anyways, your bootloader is already upgraded, so it doesnt matter. And be careful about one thing, don't directly flash a STOCK kk rom on a lollipop 5.1 rom. Always downgrade to a stock based rom, and then do it.. CM11 based roms can be flashed directly (with wipes of course)

Thanks. Sorry because i was a bit unclear, the thing is i didn't update to lollipop yet and wanted to do it via ota. So I'm still on stock 4.4. But i saw your RaR rom and i think i will just flash that. I'm really sorry to ask again and waste your time but will i be able to flash other non-stock based lollipop roms then ? (just for fun of course because i think i will be using RaR as my daily )

I highly recommend you do the ota update before flashing any ROMs, because it will update your bootloader, and avoid issues After you get your BL updated, you can freely flash any ROM of your choice, just make sure you do a clean flash
And no you are not wasting my time

Getting Marshmallow on unlocked XT1096

I unlocked the bootloader on my XT1096 (verizon) Moto X 2014. Currently running stock 5.1 ROM.
What's the best way to get Marshmallow on? Can I use a ROM from another model? Do I need to flash a recovery? Thanks.

The only way to get Marshmallow on a verizon would be with a custom rom that supports CDMA. I know that CM13 supporta CDMA so that one would work.
And while yes you could flash the rom from another model like the xt1095, it would lose verizon signal since the other models are GSM instead of CDMA.

"if u want to convert your device dont forget about NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn. That is modem files. U should take them from official 5.1 image for xt1097 otherwise your network wont work"
Would I be able to flash the XT1095 stock MM image and then copy those files over, retaining Verizon signal?

tomas1pit is incorrect, if you look in other threads of people that have unlocked bootloaders with verizon, they lose signal completely if they convert to another model. He does not realize that xt1096 is CDMA, the NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn apply to GSM.
You can still get signal if you change to another model, but only if you put a sim chip in your phone for AT&T, T-Mobile, etc since those companies are GSM. The problem is that switching firmware makes it incompatible with verizon.
If you plan to stay with verizon, custom roms are your only choice. If you change to a GSM company then you can use the stock firmware from another model.

Roger. Thanks.
It took a few tries to get TWRP on... I had to use crpalmer's custom version, the regular version didn't work. I'll hunt around for a custom ROM. If anyone has any suggestions (as close to stock Android as possible) I'd appreciate it.

No problem. Your best bet would be to read the custom rom threads and see if any say they support cdma. Or post in the thread to ask the developer if it does.
The only one I know for sure works with verizon is CM13, since I have read that some verizon users have tried it and it worked for them. I assume that roms that are based off CM might work, but you know what they say about assuming... Anyway good luck finding a rom you like.

I unlocked the bootloader on Verizon xt1096 Android 5.1, installed latest twrp recovery and installed SuperSU and am rooted. Woot. Twrp is super useful! I'd just be careful with what you're flashing of course.
I couldn't get official TWRP to work, but this custom version worked for me:

Same situation. Just recently unlocked the bootloader on my XT1096 (Verizon Moto X 2). Trying to figure out how to get to Marshmallow (stock or rooted) but with Verizon radios. Can't seem to find XT1096/Verizon radios in a flashable zip.

Just a little humor. I have reached out to KidJoe here for some help. I also reached out to MotoCare and they are sending me a new MotoX (for me to tinker with some more).
I would suggest that we need to find a way to get the XT1096 to XT1095, while keeping factory bootloader to accept future OTAs. The VZW radios are out there, just will need to flash them via ADB if/when new OTAs come though.
So for right now, no other custom rom will work with the xt1096 unless somebody makes it specifically or customizes a different rom to suit it right?
CM13 and derived ROMS should work. There are other non-Marshmallow ROMs, I think.

Where did you get this? All the official TWRP builds throw a mismatched partition size error and won't install.
If I understand correctly, if I'm not using the phone on Verizon I can install any ROM?
crpalmer posted it in the CM12 thread.
I was able to get the latest TWRP installed. Took a few attempts.
i flashed mine with twrp it said the same thing when i fastbbot flashed it but it worked i just booted in recovery any ways and it worked

Moto X 1st Gen Issues Upgrading OS

Hello Everyone,
My dads Moto X 1st Gen Dev Edition started crapping out a while ago and I switched him to an Iphone. Long story short, his Phone/Apps was crashing all day long, even after restore/reformat same thing would happen without anything installed we attempted Upgrading the System OS without any luck. After a few months of being in storage, I tried using it now myself as a dedicated car phone just to use with my OBD2 stuff to view real time status of the car. Unfortunately, even with my different google account , restoring fresh OS can't even use the standard OS, since everything is always crashing and doesn't allow me to install anything from app store. I attempted to Upgrade once again no luck whatsoever.
It seems the only way I can upgrade this or get a clean system is by downloading something manually or so? But google has not been able to give me any results to download an OS for it and transfer it over.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Anyone ?

You specified that the device is a developer edition, but is it the XT1060 (for Verizon) or XT1053 (GSM)? I think those are the only two models.
Either way you can find the stock firmware here and here.
If you haven't unlocked your bootloader yet I think you must in order to access fastboot commands. (Even if you don't need it, what's the point in keeping the bootloader locked on a developer's edition device)? Anyway, you can do that with the information here.
Be sure not to flash incompatible firmware (e.g. if you are on bootloader version 30.BE never flash with a previous version)!

Since Droid Turbo XT1254 doesn't yet have stock Marshmallow from Verizon, I assume you are on a custom Marshmallow ROM or @iiWoodstocK Marshmallow Brazil ROM, based on the XT1225 stock Marshmallow ROM.
You flashed it with TWRP, which means your bootloader is unlocked.
You are still using Verizon's Lollipop radio and I assume you are still using Lollipop bootloader.
Just flash the Lollipop ROM of your choice.
If you want to go back to stock Lollipop, CF's ROM is very close or you can even flash stock image via adb or rsdlite.
IF for some reason you did flash the Marshmallow bootloader, then exclude GPT.bin from any flash commands. You can't downgrade bootloaders.
I flashed "aokp_quark_mm_unofficial_2016-10-02_0936"
I put this rom by TRWP from lollipop 5.1 verizon. I do not know if the bootloader was updated, I do not think.
Then I can go back to 5.1 verizon stock by Rsd
or fastboot?
Thank you for answers and sorry for the bad English ^^

Yes. You flashed AOKP ROM. You can go back to stock completely, but you would get stock recovery, not TWRP (until you reflashed TWRP).
You can also flash CF ROM (computerfreek274) which is tweaked stock-based Droid Turbo Lollipop. You wouldn't even lose TWRP.

On stock or stock-based ROM like CF, the light only comes on if you have a very low battery. It's not a message/email notification light on stock.
On the Quark, the "notification" light only works on a few CM-based custom ROMs. @bhb27 experimented and enabled it in Resurrection Remix and Bliss and AOKP maintainer uses his coding.
If you want that, and also Lollipop, then you would have to go to the Lollipop version of Resurrection Remix, which is not being updated anymore. It still works, and you can find it over in the other forum if you scroll down into the development threads -- but @bhb27 is focusing all his attention on current software.
This question is as close to mine as I can find so I hope posting here is OK.
I got the VZ OTA update (Before unlock and root) to marsh and it literally broke a few of the programs I use. Some of them will never get updates so that is out. So I would like to go back to 5. Because I did get the OTA to 6 is it possible to go back to 5? Yes I am unlocked and rooted. OR would trying one of the 7's be better?

If you are unlocked and rooted right now (I bolded that statement), yes you can downgrade firmware. But you have to omit gpt.bin in the commands. It's up to you if you wish to try Nougat custom ROMs but your question concerns older programs (apps) that need Lollipop, I thought.
Are there any comparable apps you can use? I don't know what functions these apps do, but if it's related to how the phone functions custom ROMs have many, many built in tweaks/options/enhancements.
