Is Xposed preventing you from upgrading to Nougat? - Xposed General

One of the main reasons I have not upgraded to Nougat, is the lack of Xposed support.
You?

Yes same here. ?

Actually I did upgrade to N and kept using it for like 6 months before I downgrade to MM again.

Also the reason for me to not upgrade. Actually the reason for me to build lineage 13 for my device (thea)...
Xposed is love, xposed is life!
Gesendet von meinem Moto G 2014 LTE mit Tapatalk

I'm the first "No" in the round... although I would be happier to select... "no, but...", because I'm checking the xposed development multiple times a week, because I really miss some xposed modules. Life definitely is not the same without xposed, but I still prefer an updated and fully patched phone rather than an "outdated" version with less features (Android wise, of course you can do crazy stuff with xposed) and downgraded performance.

No xposed, no android.

All my three devices are still stuck on 6.0.1 because of this..

XPOSED appears to be dead or as good as so I won't be waiting much longer. I don't want to wait for every new Android release. I'll be looking for a suitable alternative ROM.

I can't imagine android without GravityBox or App Settings not to mention dozens of small single purpose modules. It's a shame that Xposed is developed with one developer only.

Even if xposed comes out for nougat it will one day be dead. Might as well update and get used to not having xposed

I have Xposed installed in MM because I prefer to keep Android 6 + Xposed than Android 7 alone.
By the way, I meet an issue, I don't know if it was already solved in the past, but many apps can't start due to Google play services missing. So I have installed Google play service and authorized the permissions without success.
Do you have an idea why ?
Thank you very much.

Nope. Rovio89 has no time to work on Xposed, meaning Xposed is pretty much dead.
I've upgraded my Nexus and Pixel devices to Nougat and have not missed it one bit.

It's why Xposed is pretty much dead. Nougat has been out for 8 months now. Don't count on it.

I know Rovo no have time for xposed, so why no upload source code. XDA have great dev, like Wanam, Topjohnwu, Arter, Chainfire itd itd... I know on 100% if them have sources, xposed on 7 be 6 month ago.

Yes, sadly. Because of this one app refusing to work with root, so i have to use rootcloak.

I have Viper 3.5.0 which is the last Viper rom with MM. It works great and I'm sticking with it for now. Need my Gravity Box and other Xposed apps.

Yep, and I'm missing Xposed on my tab s3 with nougat... :crying:

No way I can live without Xposed. No nougat for me till then.

Xposed has so many neat modules. Nougat isn't worth it if taht means leaving Xposed.

Staying on MM does not mean that I'm on a outdated system.
Instead of asking the device manufacturer to make the device secure, I'd love to control my security and privacy. With MM, I still got a good performance, battery life and still able to make a call or send an email or message .
I'd be on MM as long as I don't see anything that can replace xposed and until I buy a device that cannot be downgraded to MM.

[Q] xposed on nexus 10 5.1.1

Will it work on android 5.1.1?
I only see it made for 5.1?
Rather not brick my tablet. I really need it to use the xposed multi window module!
Yes, but not all the modules are compatible with the 5.1 version. So be sure that module is working with. Sorry bad english
---------- Post added at 08:30 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:27 PM ----------
In Xposed General you can find a thread of working modules for 5.1
Already:
made a nandroid backup.
Downloaded xposed alpha what ever version
Flashed the zip in recovery
Rebooted
Everything was f**in great
I went to modules
Ticked the one for lucky patcher
Downloaded the halo multi window whatever module
Activated
Reboot
Bootloop
Went to recovery.
Restored my backup
And now I'm disappointed.
Should I just flash KitKat and go back to 4.4.4 for now or is xposed and its modules supposed to be fully functional with 5.x.x. Soon?
The multi window module helps me get my work done ridiculously easier lol
This module isn't yet compatible with Lollipop 5.1.1. In my opinion, if the module is really missing in the phone, you should go back to the Kitkat because the 5.1.1 version of Xposed Framework is unofficial for now. I think that the modules will be compatible when rovo (the original Xposed developer) update the Xposed for 5.1
Sorry bad english again ?
Just tested the X Multi Window module in the xposed alpha4 by romracer, and it don't stuck at the boot screen
Will depend on the ROM. I've seen posts that the Super Alpha does not play well with Chroma 5.1.1 because of some underhood mods that Chroma has in it's Framework
Working fine with Lolipopalooza 5.1.1
not working for me
Hi,
i flash xposed-sdk22-arm-20150514.zip. then it is still boot logo.... I have a clean install stock rom. I have root. TWRP recovery. Stock radio and kernel.
I don't want to sound like a neckbeard jerk like most of the people here but you NEED to read the Xposed threads in this section. Read the 5.1.1 ENTIRELY, then read the Lollipop one as well. All these issues are prevented with at least 120 seconds worth of reading.
THX, but my english is very bad. Can you please advise me more?

Snapchat lenses

Hello guys ! I was wondering, is it possible to get on our Moto G 2014 snapchat's new functions ?
Thanks in advance ?
snapchat barely works for me
I'm curious about this as well. It says the Lenses feature doesn't really work on older Android devices, but our phone was released just last year. It probably has more to do with the actual specs than anything else though. I've seen people with Galaxy S 5s and iPhone 5s that can't get Lenses to work.
According to comments in Play store the new update is not working on any Android even newest flagmans . Only iOS users can use the new effects, hope they come up with new update so we can have these new features too.
To begin with it didn't work for me, but now it randomly started working lol
It worked for me on Stock rom, but on 5.1 roms didn't. Fortunately there is xposed module called SnapchatLensesEnabler and it work for me on AOSP 5.1. I think it will also work on another roms with xposed installed

Impossible to install Xposed

Hello, I've been trying to install Xposed in Huawei Ascend G300 CyanogenMod 9 (4.0.4), but it never gives positive result.
The Xposed Installer apk does not give problems, but when pulse the option of installing in the Framwork tab, throws error. I've tried all modes of installation:
* Classic (installed in tracking)
* Recovery (Flash zip automatically)
* Recovery (put zip in your SD card and Flash manually)
I've also downloaded a zip file and I proceeded to install from recovery (TWRP), but it was useless. They have not served wipes of cache and DalvĂk. I've tried several Xposed, also older versions.
Can someone help me?
Thanks a lot.

Ignore update, you shouldn't have any module problems as long as the required xposed version is below or the same as yours(if it is too low the module will refuse to activate)
Why haven't you updated to cm 11 yet? android 4.0 was so awful compared to ios 6 at the time there was literally no competition who was faster 4.1 majorly improved androids speeds and fluidity that it could actually compete. To me it seems like the worst descision ever to stay on 4.0

Haha. Now I would like to upgrade to CM11 and that phone worked well! However, I devoted many hours when was my main mobile and tried several ROMs. CM9 is that was going better.
I think that it is become a little weary at the hardware level, it has aged badly.
Only I already use this mobile home, to tinker a bit.
"If something works is better not to touch it," I think of this phrase whenever I remember this mobile. Before I was not so, but I am old... I just want to last me, but I can not deprive me play with applications, configurations, etc. But now nothing changes of ROMs. Haha.

If you are brave enough: backup your current device and give it a try.
EDIT: in my opinion it is rather meaningless to ask for Android N support yet, as there are at least seven month until a "final" release will hit the market. If the current Xposed version doesn't work, there will be no need to create some workarounds, as the current version is more or less a preview of a preview and there are lots of code-base changes to be expected. I guess it will take some more month until a valid support will be established.
I'm brave enough. Also foolish, because the only superuser I have been able to achieve won't let me r/w to system, so I can't install modules. And even if I could, odds are that all but the simplest modules would fail.
Regardless, it didn't boot.

The new android has many Gravitybox stuff, so I can live without Xposed I think...
so?
Tried last night.
The XPosed SDK23 checks for proper API Level upon installation - and refuses to install if you're different.
TL;DR: If you're not on MM, the MM installer won't work.
I modified the zip script
and removed the api check. The resulting system dies at dex (compiling apps, including systemui). However there are websites claiming the Universal Systemless Xposed Installer will work on Nougat if you first flash Magisk and use the Material Design Xposed Installer (not to be confused with Materialized module) and phh's Superuser apps in place of Official Xposed Installer and SuperSU! I am about to give it a try on a Nexus 6!

Guys... That would never work. If it did, what's the point of SDK versions?
Just like when Marshmallow was released, SDK22 would NOT work whatsoever on 6.0. same if you go back another version using the previous version of Xposed.
Don't try to install it, as it just bricks. That's why the API checker is there.

Sadly those websites are bogus clickbait to generate ad views. (Apparently) I can confirm that flashing Magisk on Android N causes the bootstrap to fail without even flashing Xposed yet. I even tried playing with the install flags. Sorry everyone I'll continue to investigate other solutions.
To those who said it is stupid and pointless to try what I did: Tinkering and breaking the rules of common sense are how many advancements have been discovered. Your posts are negative and unconstructive, nearly a violation of XDA rules. Please try not to be so abusive for the sake of the community.

But honestly, you're just bricking your device by flashing the wrong SDK version. If you want to begin porting it instead of messing with the install script to the Xposed for the wrong version of Android, maybe contact RomRacer. He ported Xposed to 5.0/5.1 before Rovo released an official version, so he can help you out maybe, but you need permission from Rovo to release a working version.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, Android Nougat will be the only Android version that will not support Xposed. This is due to the fact that Nougat is a delicious, but creamy thing, that glues together all command lines when melted.

There will be support for Android Nougat, be patient like everyone else. If any news arise, rovo89 will make an official statement.

It depends on how much you like xposed and its modules? in my opinion I prefer xposed over any supposed performance or battery upgrades nougat has.
Depends on what you use Xposed for. If enjoy heavily modifying your ROM, you should probably just stick to Marshmallow.
If you only use Xposed for basic mods like the YouTube ones, there's workarounds available now that work on Nougat.
Or you could use rr nougat and still pretty much have a great level of customization while still having the latest android. This is the ROM I use and I have no complaints get updated frequently as well. I don't really care for xposed or oos that's not why I got the phone. I got it because it has great development support here at xda and cause it's awesome of course.

I've stuck with Nougat since getting mine. Hopefully, rovo89 updates Xposed for Nougat in the near future. I love the deep layer of customization that comes with Xposed, but OOS with Magisk is pretty damn awesome.
Xposed is nice, but OOS has great functionality and what I am missing, can be added with Magisk. So no, no miss. Also, Safety Net works which is nice.

Like can you use something like snapreffs or xinsta with magisk?
Magisk doesn't really have much in common with Xposed, they do completely different things. Xposed modifies how an app runs while the app is running by interrupting commands, while Magisk simply replaces or inserts files in /system at boot. The level of customization that Xposed offers simply cannot be achieved directly with Magisk. It might be possible to modify the original Instagram app to include features from snapress or xinsta and then install the modified app.
