It depends on how much you like xposed and its modules? in my opinion I prefer xposed over any supposed performance or battery upgrades nougat has.

Depends on what you use Xposed for. If enjoy heavily modifying your ROM, you should probably just stick to Marshmallow.
If you only use Xposed for basic mods like the YouTube ones, there's workarounds available now that work on Nougat.

Or you could use rr nougat and still pretty much have a great level of customization while still having the latest android. This is the ROM I use and I have no complaints get updated frequently as well. I don't really care for xposed or oos that's not why I got the phone. I got it because it has great development support here at xda and cause it's awesome of course.

Yes I'm kind of leaning this way.
On OP3T, would you recall steps to install xposed? And which root method you used?

I've stuck with Nougat since getting mine. Hopefully, rovo89 updates Xposed for Nougat in the near future. I love the deep layer of customization that comes with Xposed, but OOS with Magisk is pretty damn awesome.

Xposed is nice, but OOS has great functionality and what I am missing, can be added with Magisk. So no, no miss. Also, Safety Net works which is nice.

Like can you use something like snapreffs or xinsta with magisk?

Magisk doesn't really have much in common with Xposed, they do completely different things. Xposed modifies how an app runs while the app is running by interrupting commands, while Magisk simply replaces or inserts files in /system at boot. The level of customization that Xposed offers simply cannot be achieved directly with Magisk. It might be possible to modify the original Instagram app to include features from snapress or xinsta and then install the modified app.

SuperSU and MagiskSU both work perfectly on every version of OOS 4.x I have used so far... There's half a dozen guides on XDA alone that shows you how to root...

Pretty sure every OnePlus phone has been rootable. I mean, I could be wrong, but I seriously doubt it. OnePlus has always been very friendly to the root community, and IMO it's paid off well for them.

If you are brave enough: backup your current device and give it a try.
EDIT: in my opinion it is rather meaningless to ask for Android N support yet, as there are at least seven month until a "final" release will hit the market. If the current Xposed version doesn't work, there will be no need to create some workarounds, as the current version is more or less a preview of a preview and there are lots of code-base changes to be expected. I guess it will take some more month until a valid support will be established.
I'm brave enough. Also foolish, because the only superuser I have been able to achieve won't let me r/w to system, so I can't install modules. And even if I could, odds are that all but the simplest modules would fail.
Regardless, it didn't boot.

The new android has many Gravitybox stuff, so I can live without Xposed I think...
so?
Tried last night.
The XPosed SDK23 checks for proper API Level upon installation - and refuses to install if you're different.
TL;DR: If you're not on MM, the MM installer won't work.
I modified the zip script
and removed the api check. The resulting system dies at dex (compiling apps, including systemui). However there are websites claiming the Universal Systemless Xposed Installer will work on Nougat if you first flash Magisk and use the Material Design Xposed Installer (not to be confused with Materialized module) and phh's Superuser apps in place of Official Xposed Installer and SuperSU! I am about to give it a try on a Nexus 6!

Any luck?
Guys... That would never work. If it did, what's the point of SDK versions?
Just like when Marshmallow was released, SDK22 would NOT work whatsoever on 6.0. same if you go back another version using the previous version of Xposed.
Don't try to install it, as it just bricks. That's why the API checker is there.

Sadly those websites are bogus clickbait to generate ad views. (Apparently) I can confirm that flashing Magisk on Android N causes the bootstrap to fail without even flashing Xposed yet. I even tried playing with the install flags. Sorry everyone I'll continue to investigate other solutions.
To those who said it is stupid and pointless to try what I did: Tinkering and breaking the rules of common sense are how many advancements have been discovered. Your posts are negative and unconstructive, nearly a violation of XDA rules. Please try not to be so abusive for the sake of the community.

But honestly, you're just bricking your device by flashing the wrong SDK version. If you want to begin porting it instead of messing with the install script to the Xposed for the wrong version of Android, maybe contact RomRacer. He ported Xposed to 5.0/5.1 before Rovo released an official version, so he can help you out maybe, but you need permission from Rovo to release a working version.
Good luck.

Unfortunately, Android Nougat will be the only Android version that will not support Xposed. This is due to the fact that Nougat is a delicious, but creamy thing, that glues together all command lines when melted.

There will be support for Android Nougat, be patient like everyone else. If any news arise, rovo89 will make an official statement.

Nougat and root

Hi guys
I have just received my new Oneplus 3t and i have few questions about Nougat.
Can I do the update if i want flash Twrp and Root or it's better to stay on MM ?
Thanks.
Flash twrp, root, and stay on mm

The only reason you should stay on MM is for Xposed. Personally my 3T used to get a lot heated during normal tasks. Even after replacement also the issue was there. So I updated to Nougat 4.0.2 and its been perfectly normal. This was my experience, might be different for others.

That is exactly what I did. I received my OnePlus 3T about a week ago. I left it completely stock and did the normal OTA update. Once the device was up to current OxygenOS and most recent Android security patch level, I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP 3.0.4.1, flashed SuperSU while in the initial TWRP recovery to avoid the dm-verity problem, made a backup immediately, then rebooted the system.
All is well with the world!
My only question now is this. Do I stay where I am, or am I supposed to update TWRP to 3.1.1.0? Since I haven't found concete evidence that doing so is a stable thing to do, I will stick with what I have right now. This seems to be the best scenario at this point.

Is there a good Marshallow build for OP3T?

Hey everyone
I've tried multiple roms. Nougat especially. But the one thing i'm desperate about is Amplify and apparently it's not working. I've tried on every rom the SDK 25 from Topjohnwu but it doesn't work. The one thing I need is Amplify.
So i want to go back to a marsmallow rom (by preference RR rom) so that i can install Xposed. Anyone got a link to good rom or a name...
Thanks in advance.

Asking for "best | good ROM" is bullsh*t. Everyone has different needed.
Search for "CM 13 OnePlus 3T", make your own view, and flash the one you want.
Plus, create a thread for this kind of question is useless, you could have search by your own first.

SDK 23 of what ? I don't even know what you're talking about, "SDK 23" alone doesn't mean anything.

Consider flashing Xposed as a system mod, this doesn't affect SafetyNet, as long as you disable Xposed in its installer, when you want to use Android Pay or Pokemon Go. I also had bootloop problems when I tried to flash systemless Xposed, a system one works reliably.

Don't use outdated software for a buggy hack. Use Nougat, it has better battery than Marshmallow anyway.

Xposed vs systemless xposed?

I do not use androidPay or banking apps on my phone because I think it is unwise to do anything financial on a mobile device.
My current ROM is lineageos 14.1 which updates fine with Xposed framework installed. So I don't have to deal with stock ota updates.
For someone like me, on a custom rom, that does not use androidPay or banking apps on a phone, is there any advantage to switching from regular Xposed to systemless xposed?

If you don't care very much about system/less installation of zips because you're on a custom rom, maybe the only advantage is that systemless xposed is easier to remove if you end up in a bootloop or if you have other kind of problems.
Also, disabling magisk will disable xposed (again, in case of problems).
So, I think the main benefit is this. I tested when I was on Oreo (now I'm on P beta) and yes, in case of bootloop or crashes, disabling xposed modules or systemless xposed in magisk is like a life saver sometimes.

Personally I don't"t think it matters. I am using s8 stock noughat 7.0 rom using rovo"s xposed ver 89 and magisk 16.4 with no issues.
From my understanding reading the op for systemless xposed it's basically Rovo"s version ported to be installed through magisk. So what ever problems you have with one version you would have with the other (app wise that is).
Either version does not pass safety net and can effect play store certification.
I am currently running about 10 exposed apps + about 13 root apps at the moment.
At the end of the day I think it would be a personal choice as to which you choose to use.
