Camera crash - Huawei P9 Plus Questions & Answers

When I open the camera, after a variable time, some pink vertical lines appear on the screen then camera freezes.
It seems it doesn't depend on how many pictures I shot: camera starts lagging on focus then crash.
Sometime I can fix the problem just closing all apps in background, some others I have to clear camera cash, rarely I have to reboot the phone.
In any case, problem will appear again randomly, i.e. I coudn't find the "final" fix.
Anyone can help, please?

Camera hangs after 3MP photo and photos are green

Hi everyone.
I searched for a similar problem in the forum and could not find it so, I decided to try this way.
I have a Touch Diamond for a month now. I noticed that after taking a photo with 3MP resolution, the camera hangs. I have to do a soft reset in order to access the camera again.
Another thing that happens is that the photos taken in all modes are green (except the ones with "L" resolution).
Does anyone have a similar problem?
The only advanced thing I did was to activate a few extra photo modes using advanced config.
Thanks a lot
JohnT
Just another hint...
Just another bit of info.
the photos are green on the touchFlo interface, not on the album. In the album they seem to be ok.
Thanks

Correction:
The photos less than 3MP seem to be ok when seen on the thumbnail album interface. However, when seen on full screen all pixels are green an pink. If you see them on the PC, it's the same...green and pink weird.
If I have the courage, I'm thinking of doing a hard reset this weekend, just to be sure it is not an hardware problem.
Any inputs?
Thanks
I had the same problem until I discovered that the cause was a setting in my AdvancedConfig. I don't know i f you have installed that program. But the greens screens are due to the G sensor. It's a particular setting in the camera node that you have to change. It's something like turn photo with G sensor.
I hope it has solved your problem
Fixed! At least for a Touch Pro
I had the exact same problem with the green and plaid color pattern in thumbnails and the actual picture on my phone.
I have the Advanced Config 3.x program and I found out that I had to: Encode photos in portrait mode under the Camera options needs to be set to NO.
Works fine after that!

[Q] Camera shutter lag

I'm running CM7 on my i897, and there's a split-second lag between when you tap the icon to take a picture and the picture that's actually stored. The CM7 camera app dramatizes this by actually giving you two still frame previews: one that instantly appears when you tap the icon, and another that appears a split-second later that is the actual photo that's been taken. The problem, other than the lag itself, is that your subject is often out of focus that split-second later, rendering the camera more or less useless unless you're taking still photos.
I just flashed back to stock Froyo to see if this problem was unique to CM7, and turns out it's just as bad.
I've been searching for a thread that addresses this problem, but haven't found one yet. Could someone help?
Thanks.

Images from Camera always landscape?

Hello, I was wondering whether anyone else has this problem? It seems that whichever way I take photos from the Camera, the resulting photos will be landscape even if I took it in portrait mode. I really don't like having to rotate every single portrait photo that I've taken. For example, I always have to rotate a portrait pic before uploading it on Twitter, otherwise it'll be sideways. Very troublesome.
I've googled the problem, searched throughout xdadev but no one seems to have this kind of problem. What's more annoying - the resulting photos show up correctly in the gallery, but when I transfer it to my laptop, the pics remain sideways. Very strange as my old Desire HD always auto-rotate a pic taken in portrait mode.
Cheers guys!

JACK HI, I believe there is a sort of problem(setting?) That causes that behaviour
Cause I can take pics in all the way and they are shown in the same way...landscape - landscape and portrait - portrait. With every rome I had!
If u don't find a solution rotate them manually ...which anyway is annoying !

Thanks for replying, simika! Unfortunately I've dug everywhere and there is no menu in the Settings that could solve my problem. It really is annoying having to manually rotate them because I love taking pictures in Portrait mode!
3rd party apps also won't autorotate image results. So annoyed.
I have the same problem. Looks all ok on the phone itself, but after transfer, they are all in landscape. I don't have that with my other 2 cameras and iphone.
I noticed that on one of my cameras, there are two settings, one to "rotate in camera only", and one to "rotate in camera and PC".
Looks like Note performs option 1, even though I have not found any setting at all in Note.

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I've just discovered this same problem for my phone. Was this ever resolved? When I take snapshots, it's usually in portrait mode. Well I noticed something. While everything looks fine on the phone in the gallery, when sending people pictures, they sometimes (not all the time) get them in landscape. I also noticed that when uploading pictures to twitter, or facebook, pictures will be landscape, always rotated 90 degrees to the right. So in stead of "I" , I get "_" .
Then I noticed something, when entering the camera app, the status bar automatically appears on the right side of the phone, as if it's assuming that I rotated my phone to the left, meaning the right side of the phone is now the 'top.' Then when I hit the home button, I see my main screen rotate back to normal. I've tried turning screen rotation on and off, restarting my phone, powering down completely, removing the battery, and even turning off "auto rotate screen" in the accessibility options. I'm currently rooted and using a slightly modified official AT&T ICS ROM.

Update stock camera

After the last update of the stock camera 7.2.19.8 the application is rebooted or black when I make photo bursts and the option to switch to the wide angle lens in manual mode is superimposed with the icons of the parameters
Does the same thing happen to someone?
Yes, to the super imposy thing. Although I can go (extreme) wide angle and the icon blocks normal (wide angle). Rotating to portrait mode allows switching back. Didn't realise this was capable of burst, because I rarely use it (only when I need to use the extreme wide to take funny pics of my cat.) Tried a couple of times; No crash.
Ok, there's a screen shot of it in my Google drive, but I can't post it.
Edit: Nope; can't get it to crash w/ bursts. I have recently cleared data & cache, but it was before the update iirc. Don't know if it is helpful.

videos pulsing problem

Just got my mi A2 - love it. but noticing big issues with regular video recording - I am seeing this pulse or pop often once per second - a pulsing on all my videos - not sure if it is the auto focus or what. It is a regular endless pulsing on all videos where slow closeups show it the best. Looks like a defect and I would return. Or suggestions of how to fix?
See videos of what it looks like:

is there a setting that can help here - or is it a defect. ( bad autofocus)
anyone seen this problem - should I return it?

Looks like a problem with either the cameras or the software. I'd probably RMA it.
I have the same Problem.
I have the same problem. It's an issue with the autofocus. It's searching for something to focus on and it does that. It can probably be fixed with a software update.
Does everyone have this problem - or just a bunch of us? Is there a way to force the autofocus to turn off for certain shots? This is a deal breaker for me as I do allot of closeup work with nature.

I'm hoping the October update fixes it.
Can anyone using a camera mod - like gcam, let us know if there same autofocus pulsing happens on those apps?
-steve
In bright daylight i dont have this pulsing Problem.
But in Darkness with synthetic Lights on it happens.
gcam, same Problem. You need an Videoapp with "Autofocus Lock"
Same issue here with low light indoor shoots.
did the new update fix this issue ( raining here - hard to test) - or does anyone know of a autofocus lock app or technique to get around it.

I use the "open camera" app, which is free and lets you block the focus.
I have the latest October patch (2nd) and encountering the pulse problem using the native cam app. Using the Open Camera app I am not seeing the pulse issue.
Hi, same problem ..... very bad for video recording, issue or solution ? sorry for my english, i'm french

how do you block focus on open camera - do not see option. am i missing it.
yes - open camera app - does work. in that it has a focus lock. How do we let Xiaomi know about this problem it it can be fixed (is there a offical way)?
open camera app
I did find how to do it: (https://opencamera.sourceforge.io/help.html)
Focus - Controls the focusing method used. Available options depend on your device. These may include:
Continuous focus iconContinuous (default) - The camera focuses continuously. This is generally the best mode - the preview will usually always be in focus, and taking photos is quick when the preview is already in focus. Note that you can still manually focus by touching the screen.
Auto focus iconAuto - The camera focuses when you take a photo, or when you touch to focus.
Infinity focus iconInfinity - The camera focus will be fixed for objects far away.
Macro focus iconMacro - This behaves similarly to auto focus, but is optimised for close-up objects.
Locked focus iconLocked - The camera does not focus, unless you manually touch to focus.
Manual focus iconManual - A slider appears allowing you to manually control the focus distance (only available if Camera2 API is used).
Fixed focus iconFixed - The focus remains fixed.
Fixed focus iconEDOF - Extended depth of field (EDOF). Focusing is done digitally and continuously.
Is there anyone who can confirm that issue has solved with android pie, or not.
Isue with video pulsing isn't solved with pie update. I have also made wipe data/factory reset after pie update but problem stil exist.
You can lock focus on stock camera app by holding on any spot of the screen
