No, the problem is that you have not unlocked the bootloader yet.
Google sony unlock bootloader and follow the instructions.
But if you are flashing a complete stock kernel then you can flash a FTF for your phone and exclude everything except kernel. Use flashtool to do this not recovery

Installed sdk. Plug the phone in nothing pop up, for me to select the driver folder, is it because I install the flashtool with us driver already?
I hope you back up your TA partition before you unlock your bootloader.
unlocking the bootloader will break your stock camera.
Just a friendly reminder =)

Can anyone help me or have had this error?
You are trying to flash a kernel on a locked bootloader..you can unlock it and flash the kernel but since you are a noob I would suggest you to downgrade back to 4.1 and root your phone using doomlord's method for locked bootloaders and then install a 4.3 custom rom
Don't try to apply things blindly to your phone, hoping for root. Might end up with a brick. . There's no exploit found in newest firmware to root it while in locked bootloader yet. You can go thorough this index to see what it means and other relevant info about our SP: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2618222

Can someone please help me as well.. I have an Xperia SP currently running 4.1.2 rooted, bootloader locked.
My aim is to upgrade to 4.3.3 and root, for which i will have to unlock the bootloader. To do so I need a TA partition Backup, for which again, root is required.
So, my question is that is it okay if I take a TA Backup now [in 4.1.2] and then upgrade OTA and unlock bootloader, root and then restore the 4.1.2 TA backup onto 4.3.3 in order to restore DRM keys and Relock the bootloader?
Has anyone done this?
is it safe?

The better solution is to just restore the file structure within flashtool's directory, which is the solution I pointed the user to in my previous post
Hi folks,
I just unlock bootloader and flash LineageOS for SO-04E
Method:
1. You must flash KitKat from official here: https://ftf.andro.plus/ :fingers-crossed:
2. Check your bootloader status from *#*#7378423#*#* into the dialler. Choose service info and see bootloader unlock status. Only yes is unlockable.
3. Don't use fastboot to unlock it, it failed at first time and succed after but relocking on reboot.
4. Go to Sony unlock site to get unlock code, check for xperia ZR. :highfive:
5. Download latest flashtool from flashtool.net and unlock it, make sure you unlock it 2 times. Because first time will be not enough. :silly:
6. flash twrp and LineageOS for dogo :highfive:
It's the first time I write tutorial
everything is working fine, except NFC
It doesnt work for me
Can you make a tutorial video?
Many thanks

I think SO-04e is docomo (japan) version. So how to unlockbootloader? Because japan version is not unlockable
I tried to unlock my SO-04E, but failed.
1) Flash SO-04E 10.3.1.B.2.42 firmware
2) check lock status, my device said "No"
3) fastboot.exe oem unlock, "FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)"
4) Get unlock code
5) Execute "BLU" on Flashtool64.exe , twice.

Each time I want to install custom rom I have to restore stock firmware first?
No you can just wipe and flash. But make sure to flash the right software binaries if you're going from different versions of Android.
But I flashed Q over stock Pie and I didnt flash any binaries?! Anyway binaries to be flashed via fastboot?
A lot of the times it depends on the rom you're flashing, usually AOSP roms require flashing binaries. If you're able to successfully flash Q over Pie and run it okay you won't need the binaries. But always follow the installation instructions in the OP for each rom, as the instructions can differ.
Yes flashing binaries can be done in fastboot mode. The command is :
fastboot flash oem <sw_binaries>
https://developer.sony.com/develop/open-devices/downloads/software-binaries
For the XZ1C, it's yoshino.

Yeah should be okay, but I recommend always having the binaries downloaded for oreo and pie just in case you ever need to flash them. Especially if you're moving between versions.

Only if you want to. You can still flash stock with an unlocked bootloader and it'll be fine. Try using Flashtool to lock it.

Because I am careful. Ask 100 times, flash once. Google devices are really hard to brick but Im not confident when it comes to Sony or Samsung.
