BLU R1-PLUS and also BLU R1-HD - Errors messages while moving APPs to SD - BLU R1 HD Questions & Answers

I am currently using a 64GB Sandisk MicroSD Card on my new BLU R1-PLUS cellphone, however I am always having errors messages while moving from internal to the SD memory:
"Unfortunately settings has stopped"
"Not enough storage space"
I am aware that some APPs do not allow to be moved to the SD and that others install themselves to the SD, but the problem I have is with APPs that can be moved to the SD but that when entering "Settings/Storage & USB" it always Crashes.
This annoying problem prevents accessing or manually moving the APPs from internal to SD, because the "Configuration" always closes/crashes, and then I have to uninstall the APPs using only the "Uninstall" function on the home screen.
My Settings/Storage & USB information:
Default write disk SanDisk SD Card
Device Storage 27.37GB Total used of 90.53GB
Internal Storage 11.45GB used of 32GB
SanDisk SD Card 15.92GB used of 58.53GB
I have noticed that when I got this errors messages that if I delete some big APPs the problem totally disapears, so I am starting to believe that may be there is some kind of low memory cache problem, while displaying all the installed APPs on the list at: Settings/Storage & USB
I have made a factory reset several times, have also rebooted into Safe-Mode, and also decided to use other 64GB microSD cards from PNY and Samsung, as I thought some of my memory cards maybe were damaged, but the problem remains the same.
Interestingly, I also experienced the same strange behavior with my other 3 BLU R1-HD cellphones, so it seems that this is not just a problem of the new BLU R1-PLUS.
I am not sure if is the same problem, but Naria9 has mentioned something similar:
"A lot of the general idiosyncrasies of the previous version of the stock rom seem to have gone away for me. It seemed to have weird storage management issues, errors moving to SD, broken symlinks that prevent apps from moving or being reinstalled, and a lot of other little non-storage issues, but so far, none off that here."
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=72203169&postcount=5
Does anyone of you knows if there is any fix, or have experienced these same issues when moving APPs from the internal memory to the SD, on the New BLU R1-PLUS or the Original BLU R1-HD?
Thanks in advance for helping me with this problem!

I forgot to mention that I currently have 455 APPs installed, downloaded from the Amazon APP Store and also from the Google Play Store...
But as I said before, this problem has happened to me with both the New BLU R1-PLUS and the BLU R1-HD, and never manifests if I install less than 300 APPs, it always manifests itself when I install more than 350-400 APPs... So I'm starting to believe it's a problem of the APP's listing in "Settings/Storage & USB", or maybe some kind of low memory cache.

Some of you who have bought and are using the new BLU R1-PLUS or the original BLU R1-HD, have already been able to test or have experienced these same problems when moving APPs from internal memory to SD?
Could someone recommend me what to do to try and solve this annoying problem?
I would greatly appreciate any help!

After searching for several weeks on YouTube and also on some technical websites, I thought you would like to know that all the problems I have described are apparently not exclusive to BLU R1-PLUS or BLU R1-HD phones.
Apparently there are some serious problems with Android 6, when moving all the APPs from the internal to the SD memory, no matter the brand of the cellphone!
I have already tried with some fixes that others have used to solve this annoying behavior, like the followings ones:
- Disabling and cleaning the cache of the Google APP (System App).
- Reset APPs Preferences, in Settings/Storage & USB/Internal Storage/APPs (selecting right corner menu: Reset APPs Preferences
- Making use if an APP called: Install Button Unlocked v3.2
https://www.amazon.com/SFApps-Install-Button-Unlocker/dp/B01HGKY2KA
Because when I install an APP or APK file, the install button was not working and the this APP can unlock the button which security was caused by "Screen Overlay"
I also have searched in YouTube the following:
"unfortunatelly settings has stopped"
And have found hundreds of fixes that apparently have worked 100% and corrected the same problems that I have mentioned in my 1st post, however I must say that none have worked for me.
Some of you who have bought the new BLU R1-PLUS or are using the original BLU R1-HD, have already been able to test or have experienced these same problems when moving APPs from the internal memory to the SD?
I would greatly appreciate any help to totally or partially solve this annoying behavior!

Can you switch settings?
I have the Blu r1 hd, so I'm not sure if the r1 plus is configured the same. First of all, did you set your phone to use your SD card as internal storage? Some of your apps will remain on your phone, but it will integrate your SD card so that it should run a bit more smoothly. However, you will not be able to use your SD card solely as storage (it will be unusable outside the phone).
I have encountered issues of my own, where the phone runs slower at this setting, and yes, I get "unfortunately... Has stopped," occasionally (actually this started happening now recently). Then my camera stopped working properly so I reset my phone. After reset, my SD card was corrupt and unusable. This reset was only a few days ago, and things work better, but I haven't gotten a new SD card yet. I'll have to see if my previous issues recur, or if my original SD was not working properly.
If you already have your SD card to work as your internal memory, I'm not sure I have any more advice for you (I'm not very tech savvy, sorry).

Thanks for trying to help with this matter!
Yes, set my BLU-R1-PLUS to use my SD card as internal storage, and I know that some of the apps will remain on the phone, but it will integrate and use this SD card so that it can run a bit more smoothly.
I am also aware that if when a SD card is assigned and formatted as internal storage, it will be unusable outside the phone, and therefore it will not be readable in other operating systems or PCs.
As I mentioned in my first posts, the biggest problem with the BLU-R1-PLUS is that when allocating a microSD memory as internal memory and installing more than 300-400 APPs, it seems that the Android6 system does not support having so many APPs installed or perhaps the memory gets congested or fragmented?
Interestingly, as I have 6 BLU-R1HD, I have also found that this same problem occurs with all my BLU-R1HD with Android-6.
I have also seen some videos on YouTube, and I have read that this seems to be a very common problem in cell phones with Andro6.
I say this because I also have a BLU-VIVO-8, with a 128GB microSD memory card (used as internal memory) and installed more than 600 APPs and up to 900 APPs, and I have not noticed this problem.
So, I'm starting to believe that as the BLU-VIVO-8 comes with Android Nougat-7, maybe Google has already corrected all these memory problems in this new version 7 of Android.
In addition, as the BLU-VIVO-8 has 4GB of memory and 64GB of Storage, it may be that today's Android system is requiring more memory and the 4GB of Vivo8 make this phone work more smoothly.

Have you folks tried switching to a different mSD card, different/smaller capacity ?
I had issues running debloated v8.4 and 8.5 earlier - properly formatting (FAT32) a new mSD card (Class 10) with my Linux desktop PC seemed to help, or least the problem hasn't returned ... yet.
The older mSD card is now used in a backup Motorola Moto E (running stock Android 5.x) and no errors, used it for storing images & mp4's mostly.
Keep in mind the Blu R1HD is really a $50+ basic but reliable smartphone, most of us running almost stock Android without bloatware - and it is NOT a mid-level one with all the bells & whistles, let alone a high end device ... I.M.H.O. - loading 100+ Apps on it, moving them to the mSD card is just going to put lots of extra "demands" on the hardware & OS, grounds for trouble & things to go off tracks.
My SIL is using the 2nd. one, both running V9.0 with the newest Security patches - Super SU on it, Magisk on the other - Xposed Installer & Gravity Box only with SU ... haven't noticed any mSD errors for last 3 months, used to drive me crazy with the random errors when rebooting or starting it up, losing the contents & had to restore/move/copy them back again from cloud storage.

Letitride, thanks for trying to help with this matter!
Yes, I already tested with different brands of microSD cards, of different capacities: 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, and these problems always appeared in the BLU-R1-PLUS and the BLU-R1HD, but as I said before, in my new BLU-VIVO-8 they have never manifested.
So, I think you could be right, it seems that when you install more than 100 applications on these low-end phones and move them to the microSD card, this imposes many additional "demands" on the hardware and operating system, which could cause problems and damage to the data in this microSD card, after a certain time of using the cellphone.

Storage Card Problem Wing???

Hi,
I have a tmobile wing and I got the phone a few days ago.
This is my first windows mobile phone and therefore i don't have much experience and knowledge here.
I am facing a problem that has surfaced three time in the last week or so. The applications that i have on my storage card become unavailable and when i try to open the applications i get an error saying that sd card is not available. Also starnge folders with strange names (a lot of different characters such as boxes appear on the storage card and i am unable to delete them, where it says that there are system files in these folders).
The problem is only resolved if i do a hard reset and format my storage card by using a card reader (format of the card is essential as even after doing a hard reset the storage card does not become available). Initially i thought that it was some problem with the applications that i had on my phone but now since this is the third time that this has happened I am worried that there may be something wrong with my phone. Since my phone is still under warranty i can return it. So please advise rearding the same. The applications that I normally have on my phone are as follows,
a) Resco file explorer and Registry explorer
b) SK Tools
c) Opera Explorer
d) Mio Maps
e) Google Maps
f) Space time
g) CE Convertor
If this has something to do with the offical wing ROM, please advise which ROM to use as again I'd like to iterate that I am totally illeterate regarding this. What I want is a ROM that gives me plenty of RAM so that I can run my GPS software and MP3's at the same time, other than that there are no special requirements and I don't need plenty of pre-installed applications.
Thanks for your help!!!

Did you set your temp for IE to the SD?
This tends to do it for me.
Yes I read somewhere that this helps and I did shift my internet folders to the storage card.
So is this the culprit??
Do a search for SD Card Corruption and you'll find this is a very common problem
These are just a few topics from the Herald forum only ... but if you search the whole site, you'll find alot more. Basically, you can't install anything onto your SD card that needs to run all the time... so anytime ur phone hibernates, if you have a program running from the SD card, it will corrupt your SD card.
Corrupt SD card
MicroSD keeps coming up with corruption
virus on wing!?!?
Thanks a lot for your help, i guess i will be more careful now.
I make a weekly copy of my whole storage card in case I lose everything. I'd suggest doing the same.
I also had the SD card corruption problem. I upgraded to WM6 and it has not happened again
You should knock on wood.
Hi Faisal Aswk,
I had the same problem for many days when i first purchased my Wing. The folder names used to get corrupt and the applications could not be accessed. At first i thought it was the ROM. I tried several ROMS but the same problem resurfaced. Then i was led to believe that my microSD card (Kingston 1gb) was going bad. I then bought a Sandisk 1gb. Everything worked fine with the Sandisk. No corruption for weeks, up until one day i formatted the Sandisk card using the windows format utility and the corruption reappeared. Later i did some research and found out there is special formatting on microSD cards to be able to function properly with devices. I assumed the Kingston did not have that sort of formatting. I reformatted the kingston card using a panasonic utility suggested by a user in one of the XDA forums. Here is the link...
http://panasonic.jp/support/audio/sd/download/ftp/sdfv2002.exe
I am using the Kingston MicroSD now. 3 months till date and no sign of corruption. I have both PIE and Opera Cache on there. I have several MP3 files i keep moving around, stored and deleted several 500+ MB movies files. All my applications are installed on that card.
I cannot say for sure that it was coz of the special formatting, but i have strong hunch that it is. Hope this fixes your problem and for others as well.

applications on sd card cannot be found

booting sd card with latest stable 7 release.
Just turned on my nook in android mode and all my applications on sd card are not accessible.
I have rebooted numerous times and used recovery and still no apps. When I open settings, I can see the apps on the sd card tab but cannot move them back to phone or clear them.
Don't know what happen? Any solutions to get my sd card applications working again? My nook will boot up fine with sd card but lost all the sd card apps.
The sd card storage is strange. I have a 16bg and now says .89mb used and 1.0gb free. it used to say 13.? free.
Any Thoughts?
appreciate the help
similar problem
I just started a new thread a few minutes ago describing a similar problem. I lost the ability to browse apps after installing a couple of them from App Brain. I know the apps are there, but I have no way to browse and launch them.
Wish I could say I have an answer for you...
I'm not sure of the exact cause of your problem. But i had a similar issue recently on CM9. Changing to a different launcher fixed the basic problem, and then when i switched back to my preferred launcher, the sd card apps were still visible. Hopefully this will work for you too. I ended up switching to a different launcher permanently.
This can happen if you swap what cm7 views as the sdcard, from removable to emmc. Check your settings within Cyanogen/Applications. If use internal storage is checked, then the system is looking for your SD apps on the wrong SD.
Or you could have a corrupted card. I hope it is the first option. Hope this helps.
Looking at your memory fluctuations, I bet the above is right. That is the available memory amount for a nook out of the box without the customizable repartition zips. Which are awesome. At the moment, you have all your memory allocated to data, which is totally unnecessary, and a waste of perfectly usable forage. If you need directions to the directions (assuming this solves your problem, post and ask.

[Q] Reboot constantly when External SD is in. Logging Possible?

Hello
Recently upgraded my Tab to Overcome 4.1.0.0. Upgrade went fine. Everything also was running fine. When I restore everything to the external SD the Tab seems to go into a cycle of rebooting where tab will come up, you can get in, it runs slow but eventually reboots. If I take the external card out it runs fine. I have formatted the card a couple times and it seems to format fine. Is there a way to turn on some sort of permanent logging to see what is occuring just before the tab reboots.
Ric
Grab a different card and try it first.

Don't Think it was the card
Just did a wipe and load of my tab. Loaded cm9 ICS card is in there mind you nothing on it yet but the tab is not rebooting. Unless it is just a certain sector or that I had too much data on it somehow as dumb as that sounds. Still no real answer though. Thanks for the help though.
Ric
bad sdcard can be a real problem.
A new one isn't costing that much, or just grab any from your old phone, even a 2GB one, and try.
you side-tracked it by loading ICS.
The solution could be real.
For anyone arriving here due to a search, the problem is not related to a bad SD card. I had this same problem and took it as an excuse to upgrade to a new Class 10 Lexar. That didn't fix the problem. It's apparently also not related to no-wipe vs wipe; I did a full wipe and restore, and that didn't fix the problem. I eventually tracked the problem down specifically to having apps moved to the SD card.
Overcome 4.1.0 is apparently *really* sensitive to having a lot of apps moved to SD. With no apps on the SD card, it appears to be perfectly stable. It may be possible to have one or two on the SD card without it breaking; I haven't found the exact limit. I do remember that the Kratos edition of Overcome was also a little glitchy with a lot of apps moved to SD, but mostly in that icons wouldn't load properly, not that the system always rebooted.
The fastest fix (which won't require a wipe but WILL require good backups, hope you've been using Titanium Backup regularly) is to drop the external SD card into your computer and delete the ".android_secure" directory. This will require you to restore from backup any of your apps you moved to SD. Unfortunately, if you're like me, only about half of them will fit, so you now get to be choosy (it might be time for some spring cleaning anyway), or start looking for another ROM, as the maintainer of this one has moved on to other things and there will be no further fixes coming.

[Q] "Other" Storage

OK, I'm out of space on my 820 because "Other" is taking up over 3GB of space and WP8 refuses to touch my 64GB microSD card.
I went through uninstalling nearly all of my apps last night, cleared maps, cleared IE history/temp data, removed facebook/twitter from accounts, and Other only shrunk down to 2.5GB.
Obviously I re-added those things and am back up to 3.0GB. This phone has 8GB of internal storage. Nearly half of the only storage WP8 can use is taken up by some "mystery data", and there's a thread on WPCentral where someone claims to have uninstalled/cleared everything and still has 4GB or so of data sitting in Other.
Anyone here have insight?
Other is the OS and its files. It needs to be stored and loaded from somewhere.
Sure, they could have a second area of flash just for that, but then it would sit there with unused space the user couldn't use as the flash would always be much bigger than the OS to allow for expansion.
Someone mentioned to plug the SD card into the phone while it is plugged into the PC via USB cable.
No, there is already an indicator for system files and it sits around 1.7GB.
Others have reported up to 8GB of usage taken up by "Other", and nothing short of hard resetting seems to clear it. The size is expanding, but it doesn't seem to correlate to any particular addition (IE history, cache, maps, etc). Unless you're suggesting wp8 just increases in size for no reason, this isn't the system.

I didn't think wp8 supported more than 32gb cards. I have a problem with that other folder too. The thing that bothers me is the fact that this is my most advanced device I've ever owned, yet I reached the phone storage limit, which was not ever a problem with windows mobile. With wm, I could just install aps right on the SD. This would solve the problem for us. Even my hd2 (with android dual boot, then wp7.8) has way more apps and games and never saw this problem.

I think WP8 itself supports any size card- it IS using the desktop kernel after all.
Varying phones have different hardware support though. The WP8 Lumia line supports up to 64GB I think. I have about 40GB of music on my 64GB SD card and it's working well in WP8.

cool, I didn't know. I'm using a 16 GB class 6. Works great. I have full phone storage, mostly empty card. Hopefully we will get the option to install on SD. I would rather it be official, but xda is good for this sort of problem.

Does 'adaptable' storage on the Note 8?

Has anyone tried the 'adaptable' storage hack on the Note 8 yet?
Worked on my S7.
I have the same question
I was thinking about doing this but from what I hear it's more trouble than it's worth but if anyone whose done it would like to chime in I'm sure we'd all greatly appreciate it.

I feel the same way. More trouble than its worth. The 64GB is plenty for all your apps and for everything else you have your fat Micro SD card.
I can't find half a reason to bother with it. 1. Many apps, especially larger one will use SD card for storage, if not you can set it to do so in settings. 2. SD card is slower than internal memory, so frequently used programs shouldn't be there 3. It creates whole lot of problems if SD card goes bad and yes, had this happen to me multiple times on Sandisk included. 4. it can get complicated when you swap the cards between phones, computers etc and you use the phone without dedicated SD card inside 5. If you really think 64GB internal storage doesn't do it, hunt for elusive 128 and 256 GB versions. They should show up somewhere.
The only a reason to do it I can think off: "because I can?"
I wouldn't do it unless the UFS ever comes out. Supposed to be a lot faster external storage.
Sent from my LGV20 using yo Mama's unlocked bootloader.
If anybody does want to enable adoptable storage on the Note8 despite the potential issues, try ashyx's patch here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/patch-adoptable-storage-enabler-t3460478
Note:
- You will need TWRP installed.
- It might not work for you. I've only tested it with Renovate.
- You will need to use adb to set up your sd card.
You won't do it on an unrooted phone. Samsung never implemented it.
The phone's built in memory is far faster than any SD card at this point. You'd be slowing your phone down... and not by just a little bit.
I beg to differ
Agree the phones internal memory is tops right now.
Disagree the phone will be slow if you offload storage.
Source: i have virtually every app i use daily (Save a couple) moved to SD card and ive noticed NO.. I repeat NO.. noticeable difference in speed or issue by moving these apps. And im talking about WhatsApp, textra, several video playing apps, Instagram, Snapchat, outlook mobile, and some other apps.
There is SOME residual data from these apps that LIVE on the internal storage—perhaps this left over data keeps the app from bottlenecking from the SD card. This is speculation though.
If interested, in mexico, the largest carrier, telcel offers the 128 Gb model
