No, the phone has never been rooted. Running stock MF3 with no changes. Checked for update and it was there (still downloading).

Can somebody pull the update file off their phone for the rest of the community? You have to do this before you install update. Basically what the phone does is download the update to a temporary directory on your phone and then installs the update. Once updated the phone then deletes the update file.
Your phone will download the update file.
It will ask you to install the update, DON'T press Cancel and DON'T press Update, instead hit the home button (don't worry it will ask you again later).
Open your root file manager, go up to the root directory and go to /cache/fota/ and copy the zip file from your phone to your computer. This zip file is the update file.
Upload the file and post the link for the community
Wallow in all the "Thanks" you will receive
IMPORTANT: You must grab the update file before your phone updates or the file will be deleted.
EDIT: Information about copying the update file can be found in this post by @thatbigmoose

I had the same problem, as well. Went through download, then restarted. Seemed to restart overly quickly, then saw that I was still on 4.2.2. Is there a log file somewhere that I can look at?
I will try and pull it off my wife's phone tonight!
Has anybody on MI2 been notified of an update? I'm guessing not since MI2 was a pre-release so it would be interesting to see if someone has.

I am on the MI2 leak rooted no OTA notification . Says up to date
I'm guessing I won't see OTA if I am on Tmo's network??
We are not left behind!
I can confirm, from Indiana, that the 4.3 update has come to the S4Active OTA.
Just gave it a try and I got the update downloading even though I'm on Tmo's network! Yes!! Wasn't working before cause I remember I removed KnoxAgent.apk and wssyncmldm.apk but I put those back and it's all good

nevermind, I'm not rooted so I can't access the file
I'll have it uploaded within the hour to Dropbox unless someone beats me to it. I'm at 50% right now.
Upload took a little longer than I thought. Also file is .cfg and not a .zip from the OTA. But it will still run on phone through update. I'll post link and screenshots as soon as the file uploads.
Android newbie trying to do a 6.20.651.3 update on a HTC One M8 Sprint variant. I’ve tried the direct download method, I get to 1.06gb, download successful, verified, unzipping update then reboots and flashes up some errors and goes into TWRP recovery.
I have also had a few goes at it from Windows running RUU_M8_WHL_M60_SENSE70_SPCS_MR_Sprint_WWE_6.20.651.3.EXE that fails as well with an error 155: unknown error: cannot update Android phone, please get the correct ROM update utility and try again or just hangs there on 0% for 30 mins.
Device has s-off and is rooted - at least Root Checker app says it is but it can also report not properly installed. I've just tried the direct download method once more having used the Root Check app to confirm that it is rooted but with same result.
Can anyone give me a few pointers in terms of what I have to do to get this to work. Help much appreciated.
You won't be able to take the OTA update with TWRP installed. As for running the latest RUU, you have to have the latest firmware installed first. You'll also need the latest version of TWRP if you want to flash a MM ROM. Check OMJ's RUU thread in Android Development for more info.
An alternative to taking the OTA or running the RUU would be to update your firmware & TWRP recovery, then flash a stock rooted MM ROM.
Thanks for your response. It has given me some understanding of the different types of update. I checked my TWRP and it is 2.8.7.0, which is the latest, and tried a firmware update using the firmware update utility from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
and downloaded one of the non-Harman extracted firmware versions, renamed to rom.zip, put it in required folder and ran ARUWizard.exe and it is stuck on updating (0/1) sending, has been for 15 mins so I can assume that this will not work.
Any ideas? There are four variants: full, full signed, with / without recovery, boot. Am I running the wrong firmware?
Download the modified MM firmware (no boot or recovery) and place it on your external SD card and rename the file 0P6BIMG.zip (make sure the file doesn't have an extra .zip extension on the end). Reboot to the boot loader and update your firmware when prompted. As for TWRP, there is a newer version available. Check the last couple of pages of the TWRP thread in Original Development. It's version 2.8.9.0.
A few more hours of life gone, and still no joy with this update I'm afraid.
Back to where I was yesterday using the firmware update utility I notice today that the firmware zip I used couldn't be opened, not a valid zip. So that is why that failed. Also if I go with updating the firmware from an external SD card, again EVERY zip I download from whatever server I use.
To be honest, I'm not exactly sure from this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
which zip I need to download.
Would you be good enough to just give me one method to update the firmware and a link to a zip that will open. Also, am I right in thinking that if I get the firmware updated then I should be able to do either an OTA update or a RUU installer under Windows.
To be honest, I'd be glad to drop you £20 via Paypal if you could help me get to a working v6 phone.

I believe so, but its obfuscated somewhat. I PM'd you my logcat and wireshark packet capture along with what I think the OTA url is.
Specifically, I am currently on npw26.83-41 (Android One Moto X4, Android 7.1.1, November 1st security patch level), and got the update for 8.0.

Can you let me know that you got the PM? For some reason it is not saying I sent a PM, making me think XDA is not sending the message due to links in it.
Alright - here is the OTA based on what I captured. I unfortunately can't give out the official OTA link because Motorola are essentially only allowing temporary access to the OTA download link.
Here is an unofficial reupload of what I got: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1PcJgtVerTPgqgfM4---q_SIGK4jmgRp7
Again, use at your own risk. This was the OTA for the Android One Moto X4 variant on 7.1.1, November 1st security patch. I have no idea if it will sideload since I got the update through the built in updater. If you are looking for a guide on how to sideload, I did a quick writeup in November on how I sideloaded the november OTA at https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=74473681&postcount=79.
For those who want some more details on how I got to this point, I would be glad to provide those details via PM. I don't want to put those details out publicly in case Motorola wants to spoil all the fun.

I attempted to do the capture as well, but noticed it was being done via SSL, making it a bit harder. I was able to pin down that the host it was downloading from was dlmgr.gtm.svcmot.com. Irritatingly, it won't download the image if teathered via USB, only over wifi and/or mobile if you select that way.
Been trying to dump the payload.bin file with no luck... anyone able to peek inside yet? TWRP and root will require some changes to work with Oreo, so I am really hoping to get the boot.img at least.

My wife has another X4 that she hasn't updated yet. I attempted to capture the download, but it ended up encrypted. If someone has a good idea of how to capture this on her phone, I can attempt this. If need be, I can pull out the big guns, and setup an SSL proxy, create a self signed certificate, make the phone trust it, and route the update through the proxy to capture the data, but I'd prefer if there were a simpler method. Yes I am a network engineer.
I believe the file @AjkayAlan has is the full OTA, and not encrypted... but the older .bin dump methods are not working. I am just trying to extract the payload.bin

Hello all!
I have found that Sprint is beta testing Pie for the V40 and sure enough I was able to find a guide and download for beta version. I haven't found anything to be unstable about it and everything seems to work. The original guide says to do it only on software version v18d but I was on version u18d.
Here you go: (Information is copied from mylgphones.com)
Download: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1tEfx0UcGIACVg5LYTWOs4TdzOKfWvzbF
How to manually upgrade Sprint LG V40 ThinQ to Android 9.0 Pie via OTA
1. Download LMV405UA3-V15d-310-to-LMV405UA3-V20a-310.up
2. Rename the file to LGUP_FOTA.up
3. Place the file in the root of internal storage on your LG V40 ThinQ
3a. Make sure phone is charged above 80%
4. Download “Activity Launcher” from Play Store
5. Find FOTA Update
6. Hit the first option (com.lge.lgfota.permission.FotaTestActivity)
7. Follow prompts.
8. After completion, tap FOTA REBOOT
9. Phone restarts and will get hung up on Sprint logo during boot. Be patient and it will load into Android. (Took about 5min for me)
(Posted here because I don't have enough posts to start a thread in the development section)
Thanks to mylgphones.com for the guide and link.

Probably would want to go back to stock and then update to this. Hopefully someone that has more experience would be able to tell you more definitively.
That's the problem, I can't go back to stock Sprint because there are no kdz for it

Yeah I have followed the steps closely however it doesnt work for me at all after multiple tries.

I would have to say YES .. Yes .. and as you can see, it only worked for YOU .. the link provided to me from my email was different than yours .. so I would edited the original posting to state that you must contact in order to receive your own personal link.

I don't have my V40 to try this but it worked on the V50
thx to aiap this was his workaround
I ended up not using LGUP, instead this is how I did it. (Make sure to backup, for some reason I had to factory reset because mine was stuck rebooting after "android is installing" notification completed.)
STEPS:
1. Download .up file: (thanks @chortya)
2. Rename file to LGUP_FOTA.up
3. Place file in base directory of internal storage on V50.
4. Download "Activity Launcher" from Play Store
5. Find FOTA Update
6. Hit the first option (com.lge.lgfota.permission.FotaTestActivity)
7. Follow prompts.
worked slick on my sprint v40 ThinQ. emailed. downloaded. renamed. installed. no issues here. followed instructions and only displayed the sprint splash screen for a few seconds after reboot. thanks OP and every other contributor. I'm in Canada on koodo with the v40 so likely was never going to get an OTA update. now I can retire my s8+ and actually start using my v40
Emailed and got a link. Downloaded and changed name and dropped in root and followed steps and worked. Took a while to install but everything seems fine so far
Just completed the update last.. everything is working good thank you.
How do I go back to stock... No kdz, I want to use this
What happens now that Sprint is upgrading to pie on the 3rd? Also this pie version seems sluggish if in running 2 apps at once.
I didn't receive a reply when emailing them.
