I want to use my Thea in my car, as a media player. Therefore, I want to connect a USB device (DAC) and charge the phone at the same time. This is possible, but should be supported by the kernel. My Thea on LineageOS 14.1 does not seem to support this. Are there any custom kernels that support OTG plus charging? I haven't been able to find one..
You should ask one of the kernel devs for this device if they can add this feature. Most peoples will connect their Android via BT.
Try a custom kernel, there are plenty of them around here.
Or try this solution:

Currently Chromecast can only use USB OTG for firmware flashing. OTG isn't available in the normal booted state.
So if you're asking whether you can connect a USB hard drive on a USB OTG cable connected to Chromecast for playing/accessing stuff on it, No.
If you're trying to use a USB hard drive for FlashCast ROM/mod flashing, I'm not sure if that will work.
In either case, you need a powered OTG cable, as Chromecast does not provide power on the USB - it expects to receive it there.

Ok but did you mean that its impossible to connect an Hard drive to stream an Video from it with flashing the device or without ok without it wont work i know but with an Custom Rom or root ??
You may be able to enable it with a custom kernel.
But even then you'd need a way for playback. you could start a dlna server but in this case doing that with another device would be the same result.

As @m11kkaa said, it might be possible with a custom kernel, but no custom kernel exists AFAIK, and Chromecast is not like a typical Android device which is easy to modify or do custom development for.
Also, even if you got support, you would need a Chromecast-side app that can access the content, and an Android-side app to browse/control it, which seems like a lot of work when you can already achieve the same functionality via DLNA or storage connected to the casting device, rather than storage connected to Chromecast itself.
Helo, works usb otg on LG L90 ? I found this cable http://www.amazon.com/Micro-USB-Data-Transfer-connecting-compatible-Accessory/dp/1059997738 and i dont know will cable work ...
AFAIK USB-OTG is not supported by either L90 devices.
The USB OTG support is related to kernel. But so far the stock one does not support this function. Maybe if we were to receive a modified kernel, it could be made available.
Hi all, soon i will get the otg cable and tp-link adapter and i want to ask how this work, i'm not full n00b but always i don't want issues with this setup
What kernel i need to flash? i read some topics here but im litle confused. What is better to do, flash kali nethunter or install custom apk's? i want to do somthing like Pwn Phone 2014 from Pwnieexpress but without other 2 things Please hlep me guys :fingers-crossed:
Hello everyone,
Just installed Lineage OS 16 on my A30. Then I connect a VGA OTG, an USB hub 3.0 OTG. The VGA did not work. The USB hub only worked with storage drive plugged in. I tried to connect a USB network adapter (AWUS036H and AWUS0365ACH), with an app called USB OTG Checker, the phone seems to be able to detect those devices, but not about the working.
Do I need to install some drivers for the phone to work with those external devices?
Thank you.
are you using the lineage GSI ? if so it is a bug that can be fixed by a developer once we actually have custom roms for our device. Try other Gsi from the A2O, you might find one that does not have bugs

Thank you for answering. I use Lineage GSI treble (lineage-16.0-20190910-UNOFFICIAL-treble_arm64_bvN). Just installed stock rom again, but still have problem with the OTG connection (I couldn't switch to "This device" when choosing controlling device, there was only charging signal), although they said the Samsung A30 support OTG.

Hi there,
I can't find any solution on my problem.
My story in short:
New Z3C board with kitkat, mhl tested and worked.
Unlocked bootloader, flashed carbonRom and from this point no mhl tv out anymore.
trayed:
flash stock MM and relock
unlock twrp, flash elitekernel into MM
wipe all and flash twrp, lineage18, bigapps
mhl still no back.
HW is ok, MHL adapter working with my other Z3C well.
In service info, connection tv out status is off.
can anyone explain to me what I'm doing wrong? Or is it even possible to make mhl work again after flashing custom rom?
Thanks for any idea
L.L
Hi,
the MHL thing is a mystery to me too. All I can tell you is: Yes, it is possible to make MHL work with Z3c and custom rom. It works on my device with LineageOS 14.1 (20180127). But the battery must reach a certain level of charge, otherwise it will not work. So try it with a fully charged battery. What could also help: First connect MHL Adapter and than turn on the screen of your Z3c.
BTW: MHL doesn't work on my Xperia Z and Z1c with custom roms. With the Xperia V it works with ALL tested roms - regardless of the state of charge...
