im new to diamond and this forum. Hi all
here are my two questions.
1, there are other companies selling batteries *same size* but nearly double the power.
have any of you diamond users tried this and whats your experience ?
2, can you recommend a link to working methods on saving on battery consumption ?
**RANT MODE ON**
i bought my diamond a few days and i just cant help notice the battery life is is less than
5 hours. mind you though the phone is packed with features and versatile, but what is the point of having it... oh yea. (excuse the pun) maybe its there just to look at but not to Touch. LOL
i have the latest rom 1.9 installed. i changed the registry thingy from 600 to 60.
the weather update is off. no email accounts and no other internet services other than
oprea when needed.
for example yesterday on a fully charged phone.
i traveled to work 3/4 of an hour
10 min on the net
15 min filling calender with new events.
received 3 calls each lasting average 5
made 2 calls 1 lasted 12min the other 7min.
i looked at the phone battery level and 1 bar vanished poof!!! just like that LOL
at work there is no wifi plus i dont get time to look on phones and stuff
so later that day leaving work poof!!! another battery block vanishes just like that.
bearing in mind that the the phone was on, screen was off.
nearly the same usage as above on the phone going back home from work.
at home looked at 1 youtube video obama freudian slip "muslim faith" LOL
at the end of that clip the Diamond was screaming for a recharge.
as you can see im a light phone user yet still the battery cant hold up
i read somewhere that HTC will release a bigger battery plus new cover case.
im not too interested in that since the price is too high and the bigger case means
a bigger phone (sandwich carry case) plus while HTC quality control was in effect
on the touch Diamond im sure they must of noticed that the battery was stupid
**/RANT MODE OFF**
thank you
How can your battery life be less than 5 hours when you just stated 50% used after a workday (1+1 bar)? Do you work 2.5 hours per day?
Otherwise, there is a plethora of info on this if you just search the forum. Improved batteries exist, but they all need a new cover. Yes it SHOULD be fairly easy to slap at least 1200+ mAh into stock size, but nothing seems to be happening on the 3rd party side aside from that fat 1800mAh beast.
If you let HSDPA data connection on it will eat the battery very fast. On top of that if you let bluetooth and Wi-Fi on, the diamond wont even hold 5 hours
Hi all
I'm new to android and am having some major issues with my Sony New xperia z.
First off stamina mode is simply not working. It did to start but it's now not changing the expected battery life when toggled on and off. That's just the start though.
Battery life had been absolutely terrible. I have been deliberately stopping myself from using the handset just so I can make it through the day.
I have come from an iPhone 4 and am quite a heavy user normally, my battery always lasted well beyond one day. New I know the screen and processor on this are awesome but I'm literally not going to be able to use any apps or anything if this is the true battery life.:crying:
I noticed that android os was taking the majority of my battery for just if today, screen has since taken over since I got in because I've been searching the net for potential answers.
Android services is up there as well. I installed a battery checker to see if my phone is but going into deep sleep for some reason and found that there had been something like 3000 wakelocks since last charge (unplugged this morning). I'm now down to 3% after about 13.5 hours since unplugged.
Screenshot was from before I started writing this post.
Any help please. If this isn't some sort of bug/fixable errorI might have to see about returning this phone!
Is this amount of wake locks normal? How can I tell what's stopping my phone from sleeping? I'm new to android other than my nexus 7 which had always been amazing in terms of battery.
Thanks all
John
Go into your Google account and disable everything from syncing expert the essentials, logout of talk etc , that should help.

Battery life is not great, but it's good for me. However, my Xperia Z is rooted and all the non-essential apps and services disabled (pretty much everything of Sony's).
Can last for a whole day from morning 8am to night 12pm, and still left about 20%. Heavy user, 5 hours screen-on time, surfing, calls, text/whatsapp, and a couple of videos for about 30min.

lol yah it's not much to crow about if it lasts till only 12pm noon.
Hi guys
So I've charged it overnight, and this morning I've purposefully turned Stamina mode off (though the number doesn't change from 20 hours either way, Stamina mode is definitely broken on my handset!)
I've also turned off a load of location service options from within maps, as per a solution I found on a google forum (but it won't let me post the link as I'm still a noob!)
It sounds like lots of people have had similar issues with Android 4.1.2. Dare I hope that Sony release the 4.2.2 update as quickly as rumoured and that this will fix these issues!?
I'll report back in later on the battery use. So far only used 7% since being unplugged at 8:30am, and i have made a few long calls this morning (I use the phone for work as well as play )
I really haven't been using Apps all that much at all. I haven't even tried Google Talk yet. I am a games man really, so hopefully I can get the battery life sorted so I can make use of this phone to its full capability.
I don't want to disable 3G as I see this as standard operating functionality, and I usually use my phone to browse the web, check emails, check facebook, use whatsapp, stream youtube vids, everything you would expect a connected smartphone to do. I suppose what I'm saying is I don't want to disable anything that takes away from how I would actually use the handset, otherwise even if the battery lasts, its not doing what I need it to. It would be like a paperweight with a long lasting battery... pointless.
Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I really appreciate all the support. Fingers crossed I get a better day out of it today! Watch this space.
:fingers-crossed:
Much better today. I've had to use it for quite a few calls, watched a couple of vids and listened to a couple of tracks plus played about 4-5 levels on angry birds space. I'm at 56%remaining after 9 hours on battery. This is with stamina mode off. 1 hour 37 mins of screen time.
To be fair it's still not as good as I had hoped, but this at least means it'll likely last till bedtime with some battery remaining. I get the feeling that tomorrow it migot be even better. Also I think once the 4.2.2 update is released it will probably improve. I also get the feeling it may have improved after I opened YouTube and Google talk for the first time - almost as if android was holding its breath until I opened them. Could it have been holding out for me to open them so they could complete initial setups or something?
All this being said, after being on here for only about 5-10 minutes to write this post I'm now down to 51% all of a sudden!
Wrong thread.
Hi there, So did you manage to fix the stamina mode? I'm having the same problem. Turning stamina mode on or off doesn't change the idle time left. Though this is my second day using and only second charge.

I believe stamina mode kicks in when You switch the screen on.
On the couple of first day, when You play with Your new phone all day long with full brightness, it could run out pretty quick (less than 9 hours I had).
I got my Xperia Z on release day in UK and to be honest, I've been checking 'battery issues' threads for all day long
Two days ago, I did a proper test eg 'everyday use'. Phone battery lasted nearly two full days :good:
Basicaly I upluged Z from charger 6 in the morning and I died on me NEXT day when i sat on sofa around 8 pm watching Youtube with headphones on. So I got over 2 hours constant screen on with music before it died.
Through the rest of the time i managed to get over 2 hours of screen time, answering over 12 calls, sending loads of messages and checking facebook, xda, twitter and instagram countless times :highfive:
1 day 13 hours 24 minutes
And here is the screen time.
My stamina is set to allow gmail only, which obviously tells me if I sold anything on ebay, got interaction on any of my websites.
My screen brightness was set to automatic with slider full to the right.
Vibration when touching screen are off since day one (don't really like it )
I was worried about battery too. From thinking it is not good, I've changed my opinion to its WAY better than S and Ip5 (which i own still until i sell them on ebay). Hope this clears things up for anyone. Ohh, phone was ran to flat out once on release day, then full charge and flat 2 times before this.
Now I have to say, I absolutely LOVE THIS PHONE now!
:victory:
Is it time to try a custom rom?

Hi there - nope. Stamina mode is bust for me. I'm not bothered enough to factory reset again though. I'm still experiencing intermittent battery issues, like today for example I took it out the wall at 6:35, I'm already down to 66%. To be fair, I've watched a couple of 2-3 mins videos on Youtube, used a bit of tethering (about 5 minutes) and sent a few texts, but this is way higher than I would expect. By contrast, yesterday the battery seemed to last pretty well, but then I was working from home, so there was very little in the way of searching for signal etc.
I've contacted Sony about this, and their official line is to download PC Companion software and do a "software repair" (through their usual updating route) I'm going to probably give this a go over the weekend, but it has warned me that I might lose my data... so it might be the equivalent of a factory reset anyway.
I'm a bit sick about worrying about battery life now - getting a new handset should be exciting and I should just be enjoying the features of this superphone. Instead I'm deliberately not using it to make sure I don't run out of juice. Starting to wonder what the point in having it is.
As a newbie, I don't know much about rooting and using non-stock software - does anyone know if:
Its easy to do (I am fairly computer literate at least)?
There are custom roms I could use for the Xperia Z?
It would likely help the battery life?
Thanks again all

Well, that's me jealous as hell then! I'm going to do the software repair, as obviously I do have some issues with the battery (rather than me just being paranoid, and it being normal to get the battery usage I've been receiving)
Agreed. I just one good battery life not great. Enough to last a day with moderate-heavy usage. I don't mind charging at night. But charging every half a day is ridiculous..
Anyways I too have my stamina broken. Now i'm doing the software repair. hopefully it'll be okay. I really hope that after a few weeks the XZ can last long..

I'm hoping that when they release the Android 4.2.2 update it'll help too. I've read lots of forums about people getting poor battery life when upgrading to 4.1.2 (which the Z comes with as standard) but these being fixed when upgrading to 4.2.2. So hopefully they'll release it as quickly as the rumours suggest and this can help.
I've certainly got no battery problems whatsoever on my Nexus 7 on 4.2.2, but then its a totally different device.

to be honest, 4.2 and 4.2.1 on my nexus 7 just killed the battery.
it was no where near as good as 4.1.2 or 4.1.1...
hoping that 4.2.2 is optimised a bit better
Trust me even if the Stamina Mode doesn't look llike it is working there is still a big difference having it off and On, yes the phone is being woken up but still not as much as with it off.

Let me know how it goes and also if it deletes data from the handset - I'm looking to do it this weekend; can't afford to not be able to use my phone for any length of time during the week as its my work phone too.

i was having the same problem stamina mode worked fine but than for no reason it stopped and i could see the % drop before my eyes, but then i did a factory reset to the handset and it was fine after that works perfectly, def not a solution as there is no need for such a talked about feature to be so unreliable having said that after i did my factory reset i had it on 100% for 5 hours on standby with 15 min of screen time , just goes to show how awsome something is if it worked as advertised

Yeah, the factory reset worked for me too... for a day or so. Then boom, went to check it and it was doing the old 20 hours, no difference thing. Real pain the posterior.
In a funny sort of way, I'm glad that others aren't experiencing the same battery issues as me, as it confirms that its something that's not quite working right with my handset, rather than it being as its supposed to be, and hopefully a firmware release or simply doing Sony's suggested software repair will fix it.
On the other hand, it does make me feel that "Why is it always me?" feeling!
i just got my Moto X updated last night (11/22/13 ) and so far i like it. I'm not sure if i plugged the phone back up overnight to charge it since i moved it from my normal spot on my night stand next to my bed to the kitchen counter when i started to download and update the phone. (wanted to be closer to the wifi for the download) so im not sure if the battery drain was from the new update or not plugging it in. I'm on At&t network btw. so far i haven't really noticed anything different except for the changes in the icons for locations service and settings button. the lock screen looks a bit "squattier" but i may have must not paid enough attention to it before. i normally use my phone as my music player at work and it has so far lasted me all day and not dropped to the 10% mark till way past time i should have been in bed having to be at work so early. so i will be interested to see if it makes better or worse battery life monday. when i noticed the battery was drained today i had been playing candy crush for about 45 mins and my normal usage for weekend and it was only down to 39%. oh and for the record i keep all the radios on except Bluetooth since i don't have any bt devices with auto brightness turned on as well. the notification bar icons are now all white. (formally they were blue with the signal bars and 4g icon turning white when it switched off Lte) lastley the "touch sounds" seem to be muted now to low to be noticeable if your not listening for them now. that's something i don't like as i dont have the greatest vision and the sounds actually helped me a lot. the update went smoothly and had actually forgotten about it until i got a call so i cant say for certain if the update took more than the 20 mins it said it would. how was your experience?
That's quite a wall of text there.
I'm also on ATT and just finished my first day with Kit Kat after the update last night.
I've not experienced any explicit problems.
After 17 hours my phone is at 31%, but I also had it on the charger for a short while this afternoon while i was exporting some photos. typically I'd be at about 30% by bed time with moderate use. I did use the GPS briefly and spent more time than usual away from wifi though. I also enabled android runtime. I'd give it a few days before I pass any judgement on battery life. Prior to the update I'd had a couple days which I had near 5 hours of screen time. That's impressive by it's self and I hope it continues, but those kind of days are rare for me.
Lol I typed it out on my computer originally. It didn't look like much but after seeing it on my phone...your right. Anyway I'm happy to report a full day of use and battery was only down to 19%.
Sent from my XT1058 using Tapatalk
My idle battery drain went way down on both my Nexus 7 and Moto X after the KitKat upgrade.
That's huge for me, because I often get busy at work and won't be able to touch/use my phone for long stretches, so it's nice to be able to carry my phone around for 6 hours but not have my battery life drop by 25% during that period.
Other than that, I'm happy. I wish they had kept the up/down arrows on the wifi signal. I do like the modifications to the haptic feedback, though - before, some of the vibrations were kind of rough and loud, many of them have been toned down.
Not liking kitkat, the dialer from jellybean that easily slid from logs to dialer to contatcs is gone. Im not likng the new dialer at all, the white theme it has drains more battery and is less easy on the eyes, google got it right with ics and jellybean theming most of the UI black, dialer also doesnt search for nearby places numbers like Nexus 5's dialer does, email app is good but again themed white, and a huge problem....setting the brightness all the way down isn't as low as jellybean was, this is a bug that needs to be fixed, the lowest brightness setting isnt low at all.
I also posted this on the "htcone" subreddit:
I'm currently using CM 11, which is not yet stable on HTC One M7 GSM (currently on "snapshot"), and the battery life just kills me, so inefficient. I have an external 16,800 mAh battery and it does a good job eating through that too. 20% from that will give me 30% on the phone if the phone isn't powered all the way off -- that seems like a lot of usage (even if that external battery is used and only half that capacity now). I take measures to help my battery like auto brightness, turn off mobile data or wifi depending on what I'm using, or both to really save, I'm usually on silent, no bluetooth ever, location services always fully off unless I'm driving (rarely) etc. Just being in my pocket with a couple of hours or so total streaming music over LTE during the day the thing is under 20% after around 8-10 hours. A few days ago just a couple hours of music streaming (some downloaded some mobile data, not sure how much of each but still; this was not "screen on" time either) and an hour of web browsing ate 70% of it. It was 100% when I unplugged it around 6:30am and shy of 30% around 11am -- jeez!
I have been starting to think my battery is just worn out, I mean the phone is 2 years old (contract ends a week from tomorrow; it really is). But, what if it's the non-stable CM 11? Maybe a different ROM would help? I don't remember it being like this back on the stock ROM but it's been a while since then, and I remember being kinda frustrated with battery life every since I switched but I never got around to messing with this until now when I am even more irritated. I'm due for an upgrade, but squeezing some more life so I can wait another couple of months to see what unfolds (or change my mind entirely) would be great.
Can someone suggest some more efficient ROMs? I could handle Sense but I prefer AOSP -- whatever gets me more juice though. Or feel free to suggest other possible problems/solutions as well. In my power options in settings where it shows power usage, screen is always at the top with around 30%, so nothing jumps out there either. Thanks for any and all time!

I get the best battery life from Android 4.3 Sense 5.5
InsertCoin HTC ONE v8.1.3 >> http://insertcoin-roms.org/category/devices/one_m7/one_sense5/
It's also not real bad on AT&T Stock 5.12.502.2
I unplug the phone at 6AM and take it to work, normal use txt a few calls some web and emails and I have around 50% battery left when I get home at 3:30. On heavy use days I have about 30% when I get home. I should note my phone is also going on 20 months old.
As the title states, this is a thread for OnePlus 6T users to provide their detailed user experience for others. Everyone's experience with the device and their use case is different, so I would love to see others' experiences with the device.
Previous devices: OG Pixel, Nexus 6P, Nexus 5, HTC M7, Galaxy S2, Moto G
Device model: McLaren Edition (10GB RAM, 256 GB Storage)
Time w/Device: 2 weeks
Rooted?: Stock, unrooted
Carrier: Mint Mobile (MVNO on T-Mobile network)
Setup description
Stock OP launcher, 3 email accounts (2 on push notification), wifi/BT/location/NFC all on at all times, 60% brightness
Typical usage
*I take advantage of the Warp charge function to top off the battery and go to bed at 100% battery
*Day starts around 6am and wake up to about 98% battery, may listen to music or have YT playing while getting ready for work and get in my car for work by generally 6:45am
*Stream music/podcast on the commute, which is typically about 30 minutes
*At work, mostly on wifi. Will check twitter and other news feeds throughout the day, listen to music/podcast through wireless earbuds (Jabra 65T) for a few hours, maybe a few minutes of YT and phone calls, intermittently respond to texts and emails
*Will leave work around 6:30 to 7pm and will listen to music/podcasts during the commute which is another 30 minutes
*Arrive home and will mostly use the phone to stream YT, take pictures/videos of my son, read articles/books up until an hour or so before bed - this will take the battery down to ~40% ish most days
*No gaming for me
*Put the phone on charger while I finish some errands around the home and getting ready for bed
*On weekends, usage varies with family activities so it would be a bit heavier usage with more photos and video recording, GPS, along with more media consumption than normal
General thoughts
*Headphone jack - I thought the headphone jack would be a bigger issue than it is. I really have not missed it at all, but I'm also not an audiophile nor have I spent much on expensive headphones over the years.
*LED notification - It's something that I do miss. Without having the color coded LED, I find myself unlocking the phone more often to make sure I'm not missing any urgent notifications - I may try out some of the alternatives suggested in XDA
*Camera - It's good enough, but nothing spectacular. Photos are great in good lighting and the video quality is miles better than my OG Pixel. I do notice a bit more of a shutter lag than expected (any options to minimize this?) which has been annoying especially with a toddler running around to ensure each picture taking is a challenge. Front facing camera is also generally ok, nothing special.
*In-screen finger print sensor - The in-screen fingerprint sensor is pretty dang cool and it'll turn some heads... but as it states in most reviews, it's definitely a hair slower and less reliable than the standard FS in most of the flagships phones today. By no means it's unusable, far from it, but you will absolutely have an adjustment period with the phone unlocking experience in the first few days. I did notice it got a bit more reliable in the past few days but still will be unresponsive a couple times per day
*Performance - I'm sure most people know this already, but this thing is amazing in terms of speed and performance. Nothing I can add that hasn't been said already except that I have not ran into any stutter issues during my usage and this phone runs REALLY COOL compared to any of my previous phones.
*Display - Very crisp and great viewing angles and vibrant colors. It makes my OG Pixel display look washed out and flat in comparison. Coming from a phone with large bezels, it's very cool to have such big screen real estate available to the user for media consumption and during app usage
*Battery - Based on my use case noted above, I typically will be on pace for about 30+ hours of usage with 6-8 hours of SoT. This is the first phone I have ever had where I can use the phone without having battery anxiety in the afternoon (Few screenshots of the battery performance attached).
*Software - I like Oxygen OS way more than the stock Android experience which has been a pleasant surprise. I have not had the urge to get Nova launcher or install different ROMs because of the features and customization available from the stock experience. Both the quick and navigation gestures are very cool and functional, my favorite being the ">" and "<" gestures to skip tracks.
*Other things - I mentioned Warp charging above, but it's incredibly fast... The battery is already so good to begin with that it won't take long to get it back to 100% from where it would be at the end of my work day and IMO it more than makes up for not having wireless charging. This version of the 6T is absolutely gorgeous... but man it feels fragile with the glass exterior... I put a clear case around it almost immediately. The physical slider (toggle vibrate, silent, ring) is something that I didn't know I would find so useful. I have average sized hands, and the phone is definitely a bit on the large side if you are looking for a device that is one hand friendly.
Conclusion
Being the most recent phone that I have purchased, it's not surprising that the OP 6T is the best phone I have ever owned. Performance, battery life and overall experience in using the device is just miles better than my OG Pixel (which I was pretty happy with). If you have a 2+ year old device and don't want to shell out a $1,000+, you should consider this phone. The value prop on this phone is off the charts compared to many of the more expensive flagships. There are some things that can be better (camera, wireless charging, LED notification), but the overall user experience on the 6T is incredible and it's one of my most satisfying purchase of the past few years.
