Heres the backround on what i did to get wireless charging going...
1) get palm coil and touchstone. i bought this on ebay for 10$ (just search touchstone charging kit)
2) carefully remove the coil from the back cover of the palm phone. plastic cover first then the rest.
3) what worked easiest for me was to keep all the coil stuff stuck to the removable plastic piece holding everything together, then you can simply stick it in the back of our active covers. (make sure when moving the magnets all the positive sides are facing towards the dock)
4) Connecting it. I tried doing this a couple different ways and i eventually ended up pulling tiny copper wire out of computer speaker cable and used it like a twist tie on the phone terminals (then small amount of electrical tape to separate them...which worked out fine)*I attempted to do the same on the coil side of the connection but that was a bust so i ended up soldering it.. not my first choice but since its on the palm coil not my active I did it.*
5) you should be all good to go at this point
here are some pics too and of course if you some of mess your phone up...its not my fault

Use a multimeter...if you dont know how, you probably shouldn't attempt this hack and should wait for an aftermarket back plate to come out
Out of curiosity, how strong are these magnets? Am I going to have to make sure that my phone gets nowhere near my credit cards (and other magnetic cards, media, etc.)?

They are fairly strong but I have yet to have any issues with my cards...however I usually keep my phone in a separate pocket
Have you tested the phones waterproof capabilities since you did this mod? I love the idea, want to do it, but im on the fence, as it seems it would make it very easy to make the waterproofing gasket fail with a small wire.... on the other hand, you dont have to take the back off, or open the charging port, so if it doesn't void the waterproofing, it could be even better
Obviously, if any wire or any part of the wireless receiver protrudes over the seal, the water resistance will be compromised, but that's not the only issue.
In the back panel replacement sticker on the back of the S4A, it tells you to press under the camera LED. Pressing there engages the rubber seal. The issue is that any of these non-oem wireless receivers is going to slightly lift the central portion of the back away from the phone. Thus, even if no part of the seal-line is breached, I still wouldn't trust that the seal could engage fully.
Don't get me wrong... I'm going to do something similar, since I'd rather have wireless charging. Still... until an OEM wireless charging backplate comes from Samsung, I'd assume it's an either/or situation. Wireless charging OR water resistance.

I will fix the wire issue by using copper tape. I'm excited to try it...
I am doing this mod tonight and I thought I would share some information.
See below for the information I have gathered:
Yellow lines = Copper tape- as you can tell it gets very cramped around the end because of the gasket. I may need to use a different path or wires like the OP. The important stuff to gather from this is which is positive and which is negative on both the phone and the palm pre touchstone.
Nice idea, curious to see how this works out.
Update
My copper tape has not arrived but I installed everything else. It does appear that the coil makes the rear housing push out which leads me to believe it will not do well to repel water away from the seal during extended use but I would prefer wireless charging
If you plan on using a case I would recommend ordering stronger magnets from supermagnets.com part number Disc - D1046. These should work well with any case and it will fit more snug because they are a lot stronger. I will update with photos once the copper tape is installed and everything is working.
Am I missing something? Why doesn't the Samsung wireless charging kit work or the wireless receiver tags you can get for the S4 so you can use a Qi charger?

The battery door is different. In theory it will work but you would have to figure out a way to gut the back plate and that would be a lot harder than palm's touchstone mod. Or just wait for the active's wireless back plate to be released. This is a lot cheaper IMO $10 vs $30-150
Ya I just realized this. But still do you think the wireless charger receiver tag could work? If you search on Amazon or Ebay "Galaxy S4 wireless charging receiver tag" there's the component which is stuck inside the back cover Samsung is selling. Except it can be bought for $10-20 and most likely can fit in the Active. I don't know because I have the original S4 but just trying to throw out some ideas. In theory if the tag works you can get it for $15 then use any Qi charger and you're good. While not quite as cheap it's only a few bucks more and much easier and looks way better probably. That is if it works of course.

that would probably work... if i understand it correctly...
That's the image of what I'm talking about. The official back plate you buy from Samsung is just the battery door with that tag glued on the inside of the door.

I paid a little more because I wanted to get it this week. The cheaper ones come from China and may take a while. I now need a replacement back for my active, somehow with the palm mod one of my clips doesnt work any longer so under my volume rocker it is propped up. Excited to have wireless charging. Hopefully this week

I bought a Diztronic case from Amazon. I like it just fine but I like to connect my phone to the car with a 3.5mm cable to listen to music. The problem is the base of my 3.5mm cable is to big to fit inside the Diztronic case cutout.
Was wondering if anyone out there had a 3.5mm cable with a very slim base?
I have the exact same problem with my headphone and the diztronic case. Might just be because of the design of the G2. I had the cruzerlite case (returned it) and it blocked the headphone plug even more. The diztronic case blocks less but my scl-4 still won't fit.
I've noticed this too, any headphone cords that have a step down or tapered casing around the jack will work fine. I just ordered one of these and a replacement cord for my car too. I generally wouldn't spend this much on silly cords but I wanted ones that would last instead of opting for ebay junk.

funny I have the diz case too, didnt notice till this post..lol....
I wonder if we can sand or xacto blade a lil out of the hole area...or dremel.. yeahhh...good excuse to pull that out.. hmmmm...
luckily this is a 9 dollar case... might have to try something this weekend...
Take a drill bit to the case. Problem fixed lol

I would highly suggest against modifying the case, the case is already very thin around the top of the headphone jack. Buying a new cord is always cheaper than a new case still.

Let us know if it works.
Anything which has a smaller casing should work perfectly, just pay attention to what the cord you are buying looks like. If it steps down, it'll work perfectly. I just opted for some higher quality and higher rated items since I've dealt with too many broken/defective cords.

Just finally got both in the mail, pretty decent quality and should last good. Both fit perfectly fine.
What I've actually done in the past is just take my 3.5mm jack and use a knife or scissors to just cut the extra plastic off around the tip. Almost like you are making a spear tip on a stick. Works well, quick, and free.
Hi guys.....i love my zr but really disappointed with absence of accessories for it.
There are qi charging pads and accepters on aliexpress for 10 bucks a set... NOT FOR OWR PHONES of course.
I can fit in one inside of the rubber seal area and connect it with small wires to the battery.....
The question is.....have anyone tryed it before?

I wouldnt recommend forcing the pad under the battery door. If you look under there youll notice that the waterproofing works by letting the rubber gasket fall into a channel; if you add something thatll push the gasket away from the channel, it might be enough to let water in.
I actually just got my wireless charging pad for the Note 2 in the mail today. I'm planning to adapt it to my Xperia ZR but in a different way. I plan to put it between my phone and case, and connect it thru the docking connectors on the side of the phone. Ill update you with photos when im done if it comes out alright. Right now im just worried about how Im gonna get it to sit right without covering the flash.

Okay heres my update: i did what i was planning to; unfortunately its not incredibly elegant.
I used a charging pad for note 2 which i bought on ebay. The copper tips i used as pins for the charging pad were a bit bigger than they should have been so my case is a little warped on that side. Also the pressure from the case makes the pins not have great contact with the phone so it takes little fidgeting to get it to start charging. Besides that though it works fine. I set it on the wireless charger at night and the phone is at 100% in the morning.
This weekend im gonna redo the soldering of the pins with some slightly smaller ones and see if i can make it... prettier.
The only thing to keep in mind is that +5v is the pin closest to the top of the phone and gnd is the bottom one. I also had to modify the charging pad to g3t the flap to come out higher up from the pad, otherwise I would have had to cover the flash.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using XDA Free mobile app
Yet another update. I tried to make it more elegant by reducing the thickness of the pins but to no avail. Doing this mod with a tpu (flexible plastic) case was a waste of time since theres no way to keep pressure on the pins and make the case sit flush.
Sent from my C5502 using XDA Free mobile app
What about glueing the connector to the phone? With this solution no pressure from the plastic case is required I guess...
got this cheapo magnet cable from aliexpress (will find the link later) ordered it weeks ago.
seems to charge at 8.8V @ 1.6A so its not bad for us$4 shipped.
makes it difficult to use a standard cable now. although there are better designed ones for $12 which are thinner and don't stick out as much.
video of cable is use and fast charging current voltage:

link is dead 404 maybe just too cheap. $3.82 each, lucky i got a few.
anyway $10 for the thinner better ones isnt too bad, here's the search link:
www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?Search...9&initiative_id=SB_20160316041032&needQuery=y
if this cheap one can carry the current then im sure the brand name ones can too.
i have sent msg to seller about why his not selling anymore, when i bought them i could select 10+ units, but it was actually more costly, so i bought one by one
the magnet is actually too strong as my tablet usb port is a little larger so the connector comes out with the cable, a little glue will fix it though.
where as the s7 edge port is tight, needs dental floss to pull out
overall very convenient for sure.
@h3ck $10 to much for ya?
heres another $4 one, looks thinner too... http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Magn...Charger-Charging-Cable-White/32624008438.html
That looks pretty terrible imo, but for the price, I can see why.
I'm still waiting for Znaps to come out:
http://www.znaps.net/collections/micro-usb-version
yeah its no god for a $1k phone but is perfect for my tablet.
i ordered the thin looking one so will see how that turns out.
http://m.aliexpress.com/item/32607321932.html
This is the same one I'm using, small plug, cable is very soft, good for holding your phone while charging, so the cable won't snap off easily.
Btw i tried with QC2.0 charger can get 9v 1.5-1.6a
Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk
Are these connections such that direction doesn't matter? In other words, can you rotate the cable 180 degrees and it still connects and charges properly?
@meyerweb yes kinda like reversible usb-c but with needing to plug in, doesnt matter what angle, it will snap in the correctly - the whole point is the total ease of use.

Cool. Thank you. At home I generally just plop the phone down on a wireless puck, but this would be great for the car.
I saw this on ebay and bought it.

Got it and it's complete crap. The portion that goes into your device will not stay in the device. So the magnet is strong enough to pull it right out. Spent $4 on it and I don't think it's even worth that. I contacted the seller, we'll see what happens. Buyer beware!
I just ordered this one for $3.98. I hope the quality doesn't suck.
The other ones looked like they are too wide at 17mm width to be used inside a case.
SWEETLF one on Amazon is about the best you'll find. I've been using it for months now.

So like it says in the title... I know the phones are technically different sizes. But the difference appears to be very VERY minimal. I'm wondering if with a very small amount of altering if any at all the cases would be compatible...
No headphone jack opening.
haha I hadn't thought of that, however it's nothing a dremel couldn't fix
not fully compatible
I use one o those, and if you make the headphone hole in the case it will fit, BUT I cant use Screen protectora o tempered glass because its not compatible with the case, Im think that is because of tje differece in size.

I would not recommend this. The jack and several microphones get covered. Also, the phone is slightly taller and wider than force so the protection may be compromised.
*I have both phones and have tested several force cases on play
I probably won't be doing it, but it's literally a half of a millimeter wider and taller. If you drill out the mic holes and headphone jack I hardly see it being a problem. But after looking there aren't many more cases for the force that would make me want to go through the trouble honestly.
Has anyone tried spigen rugged armor case ? Love them but they are only present force. Planning to buy them and use with play ! Anyone who has tried it if can help would be great!
yes it will fit for the Moto Z, but not have hole for the headset jack
