Hi everybody, I have a question: What are these partitions (that are accessible too with the twrp recovery)?
-Vendor
-Cust
-Version
-Product
-Oeminfo
What are fundamental for the phone to boot? What I have to backup?
For example, can the phone boot without /cust? Tell me what they contain too, please. Thank you to everyone!
HELP please!
I made a full TWRP backup of my device except (data partition) then restored another backup (to enable dual sim from here) and it was corrupted so!
now after restoring my official backup I have 3 problems:
1 Sound isn't working.
2 Boot logo changed to "Android" not the Huawei animated video.
3 Camera app is not working
And I tried to flash many ROMs with SD card but it's not working and flashing it with adb in FASTBOOT after extracting the UPDATE.APP is not working too.
Then restored another Full TWRP backup now changed to:
Model: WAS-LX1 (instead of WAS-LX1A)
Build number: WAS-LX1C10B105 (instead of WAS-LX1AC02B113)
After that restore: I can't restore my original TWRP backup again and still have the same problems.
And I tried "RedLotus tool" not working.

[How to Root] (Magisk) Huawei Mate S Android 6- EMUI 4.01 "Marshmallow" (free device)
[How to Root] (Magisk) Huawei Mate S Android 6 -
EMUI 4.01 "Marshmallow"
"free devices" B390
Test device:
Model Huawei Mate S CRR-L09
Build number CRR-L09C432B390
System version CRR-L09C900B390
free device
Quick Setup:
You've been in good shape for ages with Mate S. That's why I'm not going into detail here.
Newcomers can read in themselves here in the forum.
Prerequisite for Magisk Rooting is:
TWRP 3.0.2 (carrera3. img)
Firmware B390
OEM and FRP unlock
OEM unlocking and USB debugging active.
Fresh TWRP backup on the ExtSd.
If there is a SuperSu root, uninstall the SU App
and the unSu. zip in TWRP flash.
First of all, you need a kernel suitable for Magisk. (boot partition)
Download and unpack the included
2017-10-19-Mate-S_B390.M-Kernel. rar. The folder
2017-10-19-Mate-S_B390.M-kernel copy it to the TWRP backup directory.
Where your previous backups are.
Then restore the kernel backup (boot) to TWRP.
Now use the Magisk-v14.0. zip to root.
After rebooting, install MagiskManager-v5.3.0.apk and update if necessary.
Now you can install the desired Magisk modules in TWRP by zip-flash.
But always install the appropriate apk first.
If you need the "green" SafetyNet status, you have to do without Xposed.
After Xposed installation, the first reboot takes between 10 and 20 minutes.
Do not install Xposed as Magisk module.
The BusyBox module should be installed.
AdblockPlus is ingenious.
Now, that was the quick start guide.
I give support at any time, but not via PN. Everybody's supposed to benefit.
I wish you all the best in the rooting.
Many thanks for Magisk to: @topjohnwu,
@phhusson, @Chainfire, @nkk71, @osm0sis, @Captain_Throwback, @Didgeridoohan, @jenslody, @digitalhigh and @DVDandroid
and of course @Tecalote, without him I wouldn't do all this at all.
NOTE: Despite careful elaboration, I cannot guarantee that no damage to the device or operating system will be caused by the execution of this manual and therefore I assume no liability for any damage or malfunction of the hardware and software! If you are still unsure, follow these steps: Follow the instructions only if you or your device is subject to any conditions (model number, Android version, etc.). Read the instructions carefully and completely, look up unknown terms, check downloaded files for viruses. Make a backup of important settings and data. Do not follow the instructions if you do not know what you are doing.
HwOTA 7+8 for Huawei P8 Lite/Honor 8 Lite1. On the phone, make a backup of all data (since during the upgrade all data will be erased). This is an obligatory condition.
2. Unlock your bootloader: (There´s no way around it (unfortnuately), but after the procedure your device will be locked again, so don´t worry!). The device will make a factory reset, so once again, BACKUP your files!!!!!!!!!!
3. Enable ‘USB debugging’ and ‘OEM Unlock’ option from setting>developer option>. To enable Developer Options, go to About phone and tap the Build Number 7 times.
4. You must download three zip-archives with a full "Full OTA" firmware on which you want to flash (If you look through in the FF (FirmwareFinder), you see there are 4 archives for China and 3 for other locations. You must to download for the version what model and location you will have after the firmware);
5. Add the downloaded files to the folder "HWOTA\Update" and run the .cmd file, it will rename them automatically according to the template:
- update_data_full_public.zip to update_data_public.zip
- update_full_....zip to update_all_hw.zip
- update.zip don't rename
6. After run the universal batch file update.bat in the "HWOTA" folder, which will provide an opportunity to choose the required work option (change firmware/rebranding (change location)). FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS ON THE SCREEN OF THE MONITOR - the entire process is accompanied by prompts.
At the end of the process, everything should work fine... Be prepared, the bootloader will be locked after changing the location or firmware as a FullOTA.
7. If suddenly it turned out "bootloop" - go into the stock Recovery and make wipe.
PS: To change the firmware using the SD card, you need to create a folder "HWOTA" on the SD card and copy three firmware archives with the changed names (see above). In the batch file select item 1 "SDCard HWOTA directory"

You don't have to be rude.
It wasn't pointed out when I've tried the tool.
However thanks for pointing out those partitions purposes.
If you didn't realise that it was for emui 5 (and used while in emui) please do what I did in the previous post.
Fixed
can I use this with my Huawei P9 Lite 2017 ( P8 Lite 2017 ) - PRA-LX1C432 ? I would like to update from Android 7 ( EMUI 5 ) to Android 8 ( EMUI 8 ) ??
Your informations are not totally correct.
I search for the P8 lite (so the p8 lite it's the 2015 version), and you poropose the the p8 lite 2017 if you could put it in the title because after downloading everything I was ready to birck my device before seeing that EMUI 5 was going to be installed, it would avoid to others even more eager to do the betise lol
