Unable to access internal storage - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I am having problems with the internal storage of my phone... Basically nothing can access the internal storage, me or any other app
My phone is Bootloader locked, and i have the Dstrike Kai custom ROM which is pre-rooted
I had the ROM installed for at least a year and the problem didn't appear until a few days ago
All the files that I had on the phone until now, I can still read them, such as photos or PDFs, but if I try to see the file on the phone with an file manager, it says that the "folder" of the internal storage is empty... I tried multiple file managers from google play, and even one with root access, still "empty"
And I can't create new files... Every application that requires to create a file gives the error "Failed to create" or "File not found (/storage/emulated/0/......)"
Or take photos or videos... for them i use the stock application, when taking a photo, the preview photo appears, but in the recent photo slot, the picture loads for 2-4 sec and them the application crashes without saving the photo and for videos I get the error "Either the camera or flashlight may be in use by another application. Please close the other application and try again." (which is weird , i get it even after soft reset, the button under sim cover)
And downloading with any browser is impossible, it goes in pause mode immediately as i start the download and i can't resume it
Anyone has any idea how I can fix it? I was thinking of flashing an other ROM but I am scared it won't recognize my storage after it and become a "brick"

Missing.dll file problem

I have HTC Diamond for 10 days (Asian version , ROM 1.35.707.3 WWE). Set it up and successfully used on US T-Mobile until yesterday when I’'ve got an error message on the phone saying that the program I am trying to open can not be open because of the missing dll file. I had few different software which I use on day to day basis installed on the phone like Pocket Informant, SPB Traveler, Trip Tracker, Cootek TouchPal. After the error message I tried to open other programs, but whatever was installed on the internal storage of the phone gave me an error message.
Next I tried to reinstall those programs and got the message saying – “…the installation was unsuccessful…”. Next I decided to do the hard reset and reformat the internal storage. In the end of the process I'’ve got the message saying "Compare moviNAND error". It stays on screen until I hit the reset button.
After restart the device goes back to the factory settings. The internal storage is available, except I find "internal storage" and "internal storage2" folders. The CONTENTS folder which I had there originally is missing. I can copy files there, but when I attempt to install the software I am getting the following message: "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate."
I know that a lot of you guys went through hard resets. Did anyone had this problem? Can any one help me to fix this?
Hi,
Try deleting the 'Internal Storage' folder using the file explorer and soft reset. 'Internal Storage 2' should be automatically renamed to 'Internal Storage'.
Hopefully this work for you.
DT
Did that. But still can not install any CABs...
Activesync mode
Check if your diamond is not connected as disk drive (normally when you connect it to your computer you have the choice to connect using activesync or disk drive). If you did connect using disk drive mode, you will not be able to install programs correctly. This is why it creates a 'internal storage 2' folder when installing programs.
I rearly use ActiveSync to install programs. I have them mostly as a CABs. So last advice does not fix the problem. Thank you though.

this internal storage 2 is because of messaging (attachments of email messages that are appointed to be stored in internal storage). when u want account to store messages to the internal storage some times it doesnot work in order to get this worked just go to MESSAGING and MENU >>>> OPTIONS >>>> and here u see all accounts and just at left side u see storage and there uncheck the item that says When available use this storage card to store attachements and then RESTART and the problem should now be solved.
Mahmood, Thank you for your reply. Good point.
But my main problem is that I can not install any programs on my Diamond - neither to the Main Memory nor to the Internal Storage.
Any idea how to deal with the ..."Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it is not digitally signed with a trusted certificate"... message?

FIRST install the sdkCERTF.cab see the attachment see if it works !!
which softwares are u installing again if u are installing them again maybe they were not deleted completely u can use taskmanager to terminate the process of that program and then reinstall. Use the Certf cab file and install it in your device may be this will help !!
Well, the whole point of my post is that it does not allow me to install ANY CAB file. I just tried it and copied both programs to the Diamond. After clicking on SDKCert.cab I've got the "Installation of SDKCerts.cab was unsuccessful" and with the TaskMgrv3.0 the message is "The file 'TaskMgr' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring this file"
What else could be done?
"digitally signed with a trusted certificate" issue
Guys, can anyone help here??? I can not believe that no one knows how to fix this...
If I were to flash my ROM to one of the newer ones from this forum, do you think it would fix the "digitally signed with a trusted certificate" issue?
Got the same issue with rom 1.37 :/
Any ideas since then ?
bringing this back to the top. I am trying to install an autorun that is designed to run from an SD card (not sure if this makes a difference or not) and when I do it says its not a trusted certificate and won't run. Have already installed the sdkcert.cab file and it states it installed correctly, but still the problem persists.
Fixed my install problem
I used Pocket Mechanic to fix registry issues and remove all trace of the program that first failed to install. All subsequent installs work fine.

Not enough space. Delete...

Sorry i copied this from another area

I have factory reset the device 3 times deleted everything, flashed using ODIN but no avail. Any body has any solution for this?
I am using:
Stock ROM XXMEB5
Stock Kernel
Stock Recovery
EDIT: Finally Solved the Problem. The phone was not resetting properly, so for users facing this problem there are 2 possible solutions:
1. Flash stock rom, goto stock recovery and from there wipe data if CWM does not do it properly (In my case CWM did not do it properly)
2. The other solution, the info i figured out was that it had to do something with a folder in Android/Data directory. Try to delete folders one by one to see if this fixes the error
I recently updated OTA to 4.1.2 and have suddenly got this same problem today, im not technically that great so all i did was save the files i wanted to keep and did a factory reset but nothing has changed. I can open my pictures in Smart Gallery Lock Free but im also having the problem that nothing deteles properly, everything i delete re-appears when i re enter Smart Gallery
I have tried removing the files directly from "My Files" but it will only work on the extSdCard not sdcard0 its says deleted but doesnt go anywhere.
I have looked at point 2. but i dont know what i can delete without making things worse
Hope somebody can help
same problem in my SGS II, nothing woks, wipe data reset factory i have done every thing nothing works my only alternativ eis using quickpic app

[Q] "Attention required. Tap Here" error in installation of sideloaded apps > 20mb

[Q] "Attention required. Tap Here" error in installation of sideloaded apps > 20mb
In my Lumia 520, I cannot able to install sideloaded xap files which are bigger in size (~20mb).
Everytime it is showing "Attention Required. Tap Error". Less size xap files are installing properly.
Rest of the files installs fine. I tried Resetting my phone. But nothing works.
Any suggestions??
Where does it say that? That's a weird error message for the XAP deployer to give you. I don't know if I've ever had any reason to sideload an app that size, though. It *might* have to do with your phone's low RAM? If you remove non-essential files (like images or something) to make the app small enough, do it work then? Without editing the manifest, I mean. Similarly, if you take an app that works right now and stuff the .XAP with garbage to bloat it up bigger than 20MB, does it no longer install? I wonder if it might be an issue with a specific app instead of with the whole process.
I think the OP is trying to install XAPs via SD Card, not "Sideloading" in the sense of deploying a self developed app via PC. Since I do not have an SD capable device, my advice wouldbe to try a different SD card, maybe yours is broken.

[Q]Storage problem; "Other" taking up 18GB, can't take photos, can't download files

[Q]Storage problem; "Other" taking up 18GB, can't take photos, can't download files
This problem has started in the last few days. I can't take photos, download files and the phone is showing I have 18GB of "Other" storage. The problem is I don't know what this is because any file explorer I use it shows up as empty, even on Windows desktop.
I have tried factory resetting and re-flashing my ROM, problem is still there. I relocked the bootloader to flash an RUU but I kept getting errors so now I'm back on my usual ROM, rooted.
Any ideas?

[Q] Some apps can't see/access virtual sd card

Hey forum,
so my issue is this: Recently I installed a custom ROM (Android Revolution HD), because my m7 was soft bricked (stuck at boot logo) after an update of the original ROM. Some applications can't see or access (probably can't write) the virtual sd card while others can. For example, I installed the zedge app and it can't preview and fails to download everything, then I check the virtual sd for the zedge folder and of course it isn't there. Same thing happens with the internet browser application of HTC. When I try to download any file, it reads a message "An SD card is required to download "name of file.xxx". The same issue appears with many other apps. Nonetheless, other apps can access the sd card with no problem e.g. when I download a file with ES Downloader everything is fine. It also mounts just fine as MTP device on PC. Viber and many other apps also work fine and have their own folders in sd card. I searched all around for solutions and found plenty but none have worked for me. The weird behavior to me is that some apps work like a charm with virtual sd while others fail.
1) Downloaded the "FolderMount" app. Some people suggested that the app would recognize some issue with the permissions and attempt to fix it. It didn't find any issues for me (Root was granted to the app).
2) Downloaded the "Fix Permissions" app. Aligns UIDs successfully but no results for my issue (Root was also granted to the app).
3) How to: Fix no access to the virtual SD card after Android Lollipop update --> I tried this repair process from Android Revolution HD blogspot, everything happened successfully but still didn't solve anything. (Sorry I'm not allowed to give link, it's my 1st post)
4)How to: Unlock external SD Card writing for all apps in Android 4.4 and 5.0 --> I also tried this process from the same blogspot as previously. No luck there too. (I used the "sdfix" app as well which does automatically the process explained in the blog, just in case I did something wrong, no luck of course).
5) I tried the ViperOne ROM still the same issue.
I have run out of ideas what else can I do and it is like I have half of a smartphone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
