T813 Failed to mount '/data'. Unable to mount storage - Galaxy Tab S2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had problems with my custom ROM (lineage). Could not get rooted. Probably I did something wrong.
What I did:
Went into download mode
-With ODIN flashed latest firmware. No error messages.
-With ODIN flashed latest TWRP 3.1.1
Now Recovery works but when I want to do a factory reset I get "unable to mount storage. Failed to mount '/data' (Invalid argument)
When I go to Data, Repair file system it says: Present: Yes, Removable No. Size: 0MB, Used: 0MB, Free: 0MB, Backup Size: 0MB.
Hitting the repair butten gives the same errors.
Anyone suggestions?

Solved
Stupid me. There is a button "fomat data" in TWRP. I missed it. Solution:
Format data
Factory reset
Install Rom,
Install gapps

[Q] Converting ext4 failed!

I was converting my galaxy tab p1000 files format (rom android 2.3.3 stock version) to ext4, but while processing in cwm screen switched off and i restarted phone then (maybe unneccesary). But now no rom is working because internal memory, flash memory cannot mount anything, its like stuck between default version of files and ext4 and i dont know how to fix it. CWM and download mode is working.
I installed stock android 2.3.3 rom, but when it run cwm to finish installation after flashing by odin, i have error like this:
updating filesystem...
E: failed to mount / dbdata (invalid argument)
E: discard_filesystem_for_rfs: cant mount/ dbdata
wiping cache...
formating /cache...
cache wipe failed...
updating application...
E: failed to mount /data (Invalid argument)
E: install_application_for_customer: cant mount / data
your storage not prepared yet. please use ui menu for format and reboot actios.
copy application failed.
Installing multi -csc applied the csc- code 'itv'
succesfully aplied multi csc.
----
It cannot read flash and internal memory properly. how to restore default version of files - not ext4?

Hi,
Take a look at the Overcome-site and follow the Guide to restock GB. Then you can go on installing an ext4-kernel.
I did it this way : restock v5 - Overcome Kernel 4.0.0 (after reboot wait for conversion)- Hyperdroid 1.5... It might happen that after installing the Hyperdroid you get into a bootloop.. Simply reboot into CWM and flash the Hyperdroid Redpill Kernel one more time...

[Q] [HELP] Error mounting /system & /cache in stock recovery

Guys need your attention & a consoling solution for my bricked phone, that can go in recovery & download mode. But the stock recovery mode says
--Applying multi CSC--
E:failed to mount/system(Invalid arguement)
E:failed to mount/cache(Invalid arguement)
E:cant open /cache/recovery/log
The troubled began when i added internet tweaks to build.prop.
When i reboot, phone got stuck at samsung logo.
Then when i opened cwm their i found error mounting system, & was unable to restore backups but when i used Rafael's "FORMAT ALL EXT4.ZIP" i was able to mount /system in cmw but these errors got shifted to stock recovery
now i'm able to flash zips & restore backups but of no use. still phone stuck at logo
Do i need to take my phone to Service center or any other advices?

The reason you are getting those errors is that stock recovery cannot handle ext4, that's normal.
Probably the simplest thing to do would be to follow the unbrick tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840645
thanks for specifying the Ext4 problem...
can i get back to Ext3 by flashing any zip through cmw recovery?
Well rfs is the default file system format, not ext3. If you use this version of CWM then you can go to mounts and storage > format /cache, /system and /data back to rfs. However you will obviously now have no ROM on your phone so will still need to either restore a backup or flash a zip of a ROM that includes the entire /system folder, which is most, if not all. I've never tried this technique by the way, so no guarantees here.
Also try to restore only Nandroid backups made with the same version of CWM that you are using to avoid problems.

twrp cannot access/read data partition because it's encrypted. while in TWRP, you have to format the data partition to remove encryption and then you be able to access data. be sure to backup your data/internal storage before formatting, otherwise you'll lose what's stored there it's mentioned in most (if not all) TWRP threads related to Samsung devices.
thanks for the info I actually googled and found the answer however ,I do have another question the no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip is just for whatever rom you have installed to remove the encryption ?In otherwords if i just want to do a clean install from TWRP and install a custom rom I dont need no-verity-opt-encrypt-5.1.zip ?

TWRP backup fails

I installed the latest TWRP for my T713 running stock Samsung Nougat. I tried to back up everything but got a bunch of error messages: could not find /data and unable to find crypto footer, failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument), unable to recreate /data/media folder. After updating partition details it said unable to mount storage and failed to mount '/data' (invalid argument) . There were a couple others too.
Then the backup started and appeared to be backing up everything. When it finished it said, backup failed but I have a TWRP backup folder on my SD card with 3 large files totaling about 3GB. I haven't had a problem with TWRP backups on other devices. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
Update: didn't realize I had to wipe and format the data partition (which of course deleted all my info.) Did that and installed LineageOS 15.1.

Unable to mount /cache /system /vendor /data /firmware /persist

Hi guys.
My rooted mi5 turned off on its own and failed to boot. I opened TWRP and it showed 0MB of space :/
No access to system data or internal storage. Cant basically do anything. Tried to wipe, repair or change the system files but failed. There are few soutions how to fix 'unable to mount system' in TWRP but they dont work at all cause there is no access to the phones storage. I was trying to wipe it through ADB but failed to go through "error: device <null> not found. Is there anything I can do at this point or is it bricked?
Hey,
Look up putting your device to EDL mode and flashing the stock image through the USB cable. It has saved me from far worse situations.
Good luck! Report your progress.
