Dear forum members - need help/ advice urgently.
I Titanium deleted/ froze some Samsung Gear/ S Voice/ S Health files this morning as I thought these were surplus to my requirements.
I restarted my device (after installing exposed module AdAway reborn) - since then, on my Note5 unlock-screen (which has fingerprint activation) the keyboard is missing - during the 1st screen unlock after a reboot, my Note5 usually prompts me to input my back-up password instead of accepting fingerprint unlock, after this 1st unlock then fingerprint screen unlocking will work fine for any subsequent screen unlocks (as long as phone is not rebooted).
But now the only "keyboard" I get in the unlock screen is a microphone symbol with "Tap the mic button to speak" message (nothing happens with this mic anyway when I try to use it); also at the bottom of this "keyboard" is a row of buttons (back/comma/full-stop/? mark/space/globe-type symbol/Delete/Return) which do not register in the password space anyway.
So I cannot get past the unlock screen anymore!!! I must have accidentally froze/deleted some component of the Samsung keyboard.....?
Please help somebody.....:crying:
Try to connect external keyboard via otg Cable than when you open the phone go to playstore and install any keyboard as you wish (i.e gkeyboard is the best ) and you can move on ... Without Samsung keyboard ....
Thanks:good: for the suggestion mala96.
I managed to resolve the lack of keyboard issue @ lock-screen a couple of days ago - I re-installed my custom ROM (thankfully without loosing any of my data/ sdcard storage files), got past the now swipe-able lock-screen and then I had to install a 3rd party keyboard (SwiftKey & G-Board), and also made sure S-Voice was no longer frozen.
It is strange that Samsung keyboard is no where to be found anymore.....
Also, my Gallery app does not load up (or ?scan) my camera album/ storage photos anymore although these pics are still there in exactly the same storage folders as they used to be - Now I am resorting to the Piktures app until resolve Samsung/android 'Gallery' issue.
Also, now no option of changing my lock-screen wallpaper either....

Hi,
The screen (LCD+touchscreen) of my i9100G device is completely broken (a few months old...:crying.
I had previously properly installed CM9 RC1, ClockWordMod recovery and rooted with "advanced method 2" from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1679778.
The system works very well, superuser app installed, root permissions prompted for apps that need root access...etc
Now with the broken screen, i still access the phone via adb for scanning files and directories of sdcard or launch apps (that do not require root access, see after) but without being able to interact with.
It is a rich experience to see how useful a trackball or physical keyboard is ... or the opposite, how many apps need these features to offer basic functions ...
An example: splash screen and first help screen with 4 pages via viewpager to showcase the app ... without a functional display, i was unable to access the main screen of the app ... i even modified the source code of open apps (opensource apps) to have "instant" behaviors or to launch the main action once loaded or if they require interactions, call the related action with the "back" key button (onKeyDown(int, KeyEvent) function).
i found a great app that displays on my ubuntu desktop the screen of the phone (great also to see that only the screen/display was broken) and you can interact with the phone from your desktop (mouse, keyboard) ... but this last feature is available only for rooted devices. The java app is androidScreenCast http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/.
My device IS rooted, but ... CM9 has implemented a new security layer preventing root access via adb if option in settings is unchecked, i didn't notice that and leave the option unchecked. Nice for security. But now, i don't see any way to check this option and thus any way to interact with the phone via "androidScreenCast" -like apps to be able to interact more with the phone.
Have you got any ideas to have full root access on CM9 ?
Next step is 1) trying to flash an other ICS ROM or a gingerbread one via ODIN or fastboot (complicated with a broken screen) and 2) replace the display.
Thanks in advance for your reading and help.

[UPDATE] I solved my problem.
In case it could help someone in similar situation (with cm9, i9100G or else):
1) i found this useful app: http://piglings.blogspot.fr/2011/08/android-screen-control-without-root.html (download the zip file provided by the author here -if someone could paste it on an open location .., then run the bat file from windows)
2) i am now able to interact with the screen (low but greatly enough to allow root access when prompted by superuser !), connect wifi (fortunately it is the first option in menu/settings !) or other things that require clicking on a button to accept (touchscreen is not working, so sliding or scrolling don't work, you will be able to do so in step 6) )
3) i installed webkey app http://webkey.cc/ (Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webkey)
4) to launch webkey, hit search button in menu from home (search the app with google search app, the keyboard is working from 1) ) and type webkey
5) superuser will prompt permisison dialog, you will be able to click on "allow" (yes !) and webkey will be granted root privilleges
6) an ip adress (local if on wifi) will be provided by webkey from wich you can interact with your phone (with touchscreen and many other features); you can also configure in settings tab a username/password to connect from webpage (user's setting/create user) and other options listed at http://webkey.cc/
7) and there i have all features, touchscreen, scrolling, keyboard, mouse clicks, interaction with apps ... great ! And of course, menu/settings/developer options/root access/adb AND apps !
An other solution also considered was http://www.androidlost.com/ but not tested; it seems nice (requiring no interaction at all, push install from play store, activate via specific keywords in sms, login on remote server to control the phone, erase data/sdcard ...).
... enjoy !
Hello People.
I have a "Milestone 1" and the digitizer that walketh not more, that's why the screen does not respond at all.
So what I did was reconfigure some qwerty keyboard keys in order to add features not granted the touch. Now the phone works well, but the screen works just as only "monitor".
Well, my problem is this, I can not update the Rom, because I can not activate the google account when you restart the phone, as it tells you "touch the android to begin", but obviously I can not do! And really, update the Rom and not have allowed google account, it makes no sense!
Try "titanium backup pro", and nothing!
What would be the name of the apk for activation of the account, to see if I have the backup that I can copy your data and so solve the problem! Listen options!
Regards
Using the arrow pad and the keyboard, try to pressing the down or side keys until the android is outlines in a highlight, then click the select button.
Gulp, here goes.
Welcome all,
Lock Extender is a plug-in for Automation apps such as Tasker, Locale and Llama (and possibly others that use the Locale standard plugin method) that allows you to change the delay between your devices screen turning off, and the security lock being set.
For example, if you set this with a profile that activates when you are home, it will effectively keep your phone unlocked (not keep the screen on ) whilst you are there. You will have to add an exit task that re-sets a shorter time out for when the profile ends or the lock will stay off.
There are two small caveats that I am working on (app is still in early stages, as I imagine most of these kind of things are )
You will have to unlock the device once the profile is active to actually remove the lock.
If you turn the screen off with the power button, it will apply the lock again.
There are two versions of the app in Google Play (or at least there will be soon). They are both identical in function; the free one will flash a toast every 8 uses (every 8th time Lock Extender runs a task to change the time out, you get a toast), and the paid one doesn't do this.
**** ROOT Required ****
Root/SU permission is required when you 'install' the application. To be more specific, the app needs to copy a little helper file to your devices /system/app folder and then you need to reboot. This (and removing the helper) is the only time that Lock Extender will ask for root access. If you are concerned then when it asks for root, don't save the choice and it wont be able to get root without you knowing.
Please feel free to contact me at [email protected] for help if you need it, and please contact me before leaving a bad rating!
If you have any suggestions on how I can improve the app (I know the UI is a bit sucky) then please drop me a mail. I have tested this on a Galaxy Note II and a Galaxy S3 with Tasker. Please let me know if your device has issues and I will see if I can help.
Tablet UI is coming soon.
This app uses ActionBarSherlock and would look turd without it.
[edit] The latest version of the Free app is in the Play store using the top link, the paid one is still being distributed throughout the store.
So, this sounds simple; but I guarantee you it is not.
I just got my Note5 about 2 weeks ago; and despite some missing key features, I really like it. Until today.
Carrier: Sprint (who apparently doesn't have 24/7 customer service)
My fingers were a little dirty (which they have been before) and my scanner wouldn't unlock the phone. Cleaned them and now it's already locked and seems to not really check the prints anymore?
First attempted fix: backup password, I know I set it up...but it doesn't work. None of the passwords I might use will work.
Second attempted fix: Google signin, I have a free google apps account and apparently using my whole email address as username doesn't work on this; also tried just using the plain username just in case. I know the password is correct. I'm the domain administrator.
Third attempted fix: Android device manager, tried setting a new password on the lock screen and was greeted by the infuriating message "Since google has verified that your screen is already locked, the password you set won't be needed"
Fourth attempted fix: chat with samsung support, which was utterly useless. Although I did find out that samsung has their own unlock utility...except that it has to be setup beforehand.
Fifth attempted fix: bang head on cement...hasn't shown any signs of working yet. Although I feel less frustrated.......and less conscious.
Theories: free version of Google Apps, sucks (the apps themselves are great)...I've had tons of trouble getting signed into certain google features over the years. Also I have no option for a support PIN to use to contact google support.
I think that my latest OTA update may have somehow changed or reset my backup password.
The last theory is whomever changed Android device manager to not reset lockscreen passwords whenever you want to...basically made that tool half as useful as it should be and completely useless to me.
Anyone have any other ideas, that don't involve a full wipe?
I was finally able to gain access to my phone. I had to disable two-step verification in order to sign into my google apps account from the lock screen.
I am having the same issues and tried ALL of the fixes you tried except I didn't get the notification to login with google. When does that happen?
I had the problem, too. I ended up having to factory reset. REALLY irritated by this.
Hello,
you could help me in case you have installed the Cyanogenmod 11 (4.4.2) by Hazou on your Motorola Razr I (XT890).
I broke my screen - it is completely black. I cannot use adb etc. because it is locked by a pattern which I need to unlock first (no USB debugging activated ).
The touch screen still works, I can disable the alarm. Therefore, I am hoping if someone sends me a screen shot of the lock screen I can blindly unlock it and recover the rest of my data. I would need the following screen shot (or picture of the screen):
Lock pattern with 4 x 4 dots and the clock above the pattern ("vanilla" lock screen of the custom ROM).
I would really appreciate if someone could be so nice to either post such a picture or send it as PM to me.
This is the link to the development thread of the Mod:

why don't u shut down the phone, reboot in recovery and use adb from there? The twrp version has mtp also enabled, so u can access it from the pc

Since the screen does not work and I don't operate the recovery dayly - I wouldn't know how to get there blindly. In addition, I would like to backup some data through apps (e.g. SMS, SaveGames which require app starts). I found a couple of tutorials on how to use the adb screen capture and adb-touch-sending to navigate somewhat remotely. First, I need to unlock the screen.
My idea is to mark the dot positions on the screen by measuring the positions from the screen shot. Enabling me to blindly unlock my phone - this is atleast what I hope
PS: I found this, however it is not the "vanilla" version or have you adopted this MOD in the later version of august 2015?

Nope, I don't do any customization on the UI of the rom. It's almost stock Cyanogenmod with only tiny things in its inner core changed.
The recovery is actually straight forward.
1. Turn it down.
2. Hold power and volume down
3. After first haptic feedback (rumble, buzz) release the power button
4. Connect it to a PC and see if it recognizes it. Then try to use adb, adb will tell u that u are in recovery with the command "adb devices". If adb works, u are in recovery, if not u are in the rom.
All this is tried with TWRP
[solved]
Thank You
I did get it to work! The way I was trying to.
1. I used the image linked above to unlock my screen:
a) Print out screen shot with 4.3" diagonal
b) mark dots on screen (or raster at screen edge)
c) with good patience and some luck I was able to get it
2. Use screen capture [power]+[vol down] and watch image via USB datalink
3. use two to navigate in menus to enable USB debugging (used youtube video to see where the menus are)
4. once USB debugging is on you can use this handy script to remote control your device. It is even possible to mouse click on the screen shots to pass touch comands: marian.schedenig.name/2014/07/03/remote-control-your-android-phone-through-adb
5. with patience and TitaniumBackUp I am now saving my data and SaveGames...and hopefully connect my CoC to a google device to take it to my new cell phone
Problem solved!
Good
