Security Update is out from Huawei: ALE-L21C432B602 - P8lite General

Here you can find a list of all Huawei firmware for the ALE-L21.
Huawei is so far staying true to updating the phone, at least with security patches. I respect that.
Official links for download:
Dual SIM: FULL or OTA
and
Single SIM: FULL or OTA
How to install:
Official method
- Put the UPDATE.APP from the .zip in "dload" folder in root of SD card
- Make backup (won't be needed normally)
- Install stock recovery (you can extract the recovery image of this build with Huawei Update Extractor and use fastboot to flash it)
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Hold POWER, VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN at the same time. The update process will start.
Alternatively, you can dial *#*#2846579#*#* and select: Software Upgrade > SD card Upgrade > confirm the installation
(Also you can flash the attached zip to get "Local Update" option back in the upgrade area of settings.
Apparently you also can flash the FULL zip in TWRP.
Changelog:
This update improves system security with Google security patches. [Optimizations] Improved device security with Google security patches. [Update notes] 1. This update will not erase your personal data, but we recommend that you back up any important data before updating. 2. They are still delivering important security updates. That's better than some other manufacturers. Don't expect them to update the phone to a new version, they don't profit from it anymore and it's costly work. At least there's some custom development for this device, though we might never get stable Nougat. We can only hope and support the developers, help with logs etc

Just saying, you won't pass Safety net until 1st of July. I'd recommend to stay at B600 until then.

Not necessarily. Previous update was relased around 17 or 18th of May and I had certification in less than a week

What I did (I think you can flash the partitions themselves with fastboot though)
- Put the UPDATE.APP in "dload" folder in root of SD card
- Make backup (won't be needed normally)
- Install stock recovery (you can extract the recovery image of B602 with Huawei Update Extractor and use fastboot to flash it)
- Wipe data/factory reset
- Hold POWER, VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN at the same time. The update process will start.
Now, it has to be noted that like the comment above said, SafetyNet won't pass for some time (haven't tested it) but I don't use apps that check for it so I'm fine.

Problem -- Music folder
Flashed B380, everything is fine. One thing that drives me crazy -- on inernal memory, there is a Music folder that appeared after update, with some songs on it, and it cannot be deleted, nor folder nor files... Tried it from file manager, windows, adb (permission denied)... Still, folder and file permissions look fine... Any ideas, please?
Why is everyboday asking if someone tried and if it works fine?! I wrote in the OP that I tried and it works fine.
B380 seems to be very smooth.
Already flash this rom and so far so good but too bad all my themes and fonts collection in HWThemes folder (internal storage) is wiped.
New features found so far :
- Display network speed
- Users mode (option to set as owner or guest)
- Huawei ID now working (not new features but before this i can't access it, at least where i live)

Security update: ALE-L21C432B604/5 (Dual/Single SIM)

Doesn't seem to be EMUI 4.1, but it is an update nonetheless. Other phones have it worse.

- Single SIM: (B605) - OTA and FULL
CHANGELOG:

You can always find new updates with Huawei Firmware Finder, or on this page.
INSTALLATION:
OTA: You need to have stock recovery. you will extract the UPDATE.APP from the .zip and put that in a folder called "dload" in your phone's SD card. Now you can either:
Dial *#*#2846579#*#* in the stock phone app, and go Software Upgrade > SDcard upgrade or
Shutdown the phone, and then hold POWER, and both the VOL buttons until the EMUI update starts
FULL:
You can flash the update.zip in TWRP. It will show a small error but it's fine.
You can also extract the partitions boot, cust, system with Huawei Update Extractor (usage instructions in the forum) and flash with fastboot through an unlocked bootloader (HOW DO I DO THAT?)
If you have stock recovery you can extract the UPDATE.APP from the .zip and put that in a folder called "dload" in your phone's SD card. Now you can either:
Dial *#*#2846579#*#* in the stock phone app, and go Software Upgrade > SDcard upgrade or

NOTES:
By the way, you can try this method to get better ROMs on this phone. You can find ROMs for these devices that Huawei gives better updates to, and flash them with TWRP, but they may have stuff that doesn't work. E.g. CAM phones don't have NFC so you won't get NFC support with their ROM.
Isn't the ALE-L21C432 that is needed ?

It's a typo. Anyhow the c432 refers to europe region i think. if your phone is not carrier locked you can install whatever region you want, not with the official method though, only fastboot or TWRP
I just hop in here to remind everyone that this ROM won't pass Safety Net at this time. You'll have to wait until it is releases officially. And that will be on the beginning of the next month.
Also: This is a leaked build, so it may not be final. Which means that this build may not include all security updates for August. Tbh I'm starting to think that this is all just fake news. The security patch from Google wasn't releases yet, it never is this early. Maybe Huawei is just making their customers think they got a supported device, but actually they are just changing one line in build.prop.

Google releases universal security patches, but NOT this early. If it is releases already, you should be able to find it on the internet.

The boot image is in the attached zip. I tried a ROM from the CAM-L21 phone, which gets EMUI 4.1 updates plus secutity patches. It's a good ROM but themes don't apply at all for some reason. Other than that it's fast and the small improvements of 4.1 are welcome

I think it is. But it wouldn't be the first time huawei doesn't stick to rules and laws. I just can't imagine that Google would release the security patch of August this early. There is still to much time until the month end and it gets released officially. There is still a lot of time for more exploits and whatever to show up. I don't think Google would do this.
Edit: I just did a little search, there was nothing on the internet. The latest is from July.

Whats the latest build # for Huawei P10 VTR-L29?

I just want to confirm i have the latest building number. I have a European model using it in Canada so maybe the updates arent pushing to the phone? Im currently on VTR-L29C636B120
Last for your model and market version is 162
http://hwmt.ru/hwmtsite/firmware-database/?firmware_model=vtr-L29C636&firmware_page=0
I have stock VTR-L29 model, BL locked and b151 is the latest for me.
It lools like we need to wait for some time until new update is available through OTA
For anyone looking to update to L09C432B162 the latest on Firmware Finder, I can confirm I just did it and updated with no problems via proxy. I choose the FullOTA-MF version.
The responsiveness and transition between screens is so much faster than my previous version (B113) that I would recommend everyone to make the jump if you can.

No, if you use Firmware Finder app (download from Google Play store), you can use the official update functionality in your phone settings to get the update.
It tricks Huawei servers that your phone is ready for upgrade to this firmware version. So you are downloading the official firmware file from Huawei, and it should install like a normal OTA update. No data loss, no settings loss.

sorry my fault..i updated to 164 with the full firmware package from the site i mentioned, andf then after first boot i got OTA to 171.
When updating using Firmware Finder FullOTA (in-app proxy), do you need to be fully unrooted (stock kernel and recovery) for this to work?
Asking, because I plan to try this update method from B165 to B172 on my VTR-L29C185 and wondering if this process keeps the user data intact or it means a full reset later regardless ... can anyone confirm user data can be preserved with in-app proxy method? Does the BootLoader stay unlocked too?
EDIT:
all went well as per update itself via in-app proxy detection method ... however had to use FullOTA package to successfully install it and that I think re-locked the bootloader, oh well, at least it worked fine

Are the listed firmware versions proper for my model?

Dude, what did I just say? I DON'T KNOW.
I'm sure it will work, but it may take you off your official upgrade path.
And with no fastboot file available for your current software version, I would take a full TWRP backup and copy to pc for safekeeping before trying anything.
Welcome to Flashing 101

Noooo, please restore! I've been using the steps and files provided to get rid of the annoying "an update is available" notifications on my rooted XT1710-09!
And yesterday a new one has appeared...
Indeed please restore it can't hurt having it up here
We don't even have custom roms, this is the closest we can get for now. Please post more builds!

I'm going to buy my z2 play bike at the end of the year and it's a shame not to have an updated lite rom. Probably you should be doing a good job.
It would be nice to have a rom lite for ALL MODEL with deodex, delete more apps OTA / CCC / CCE, OTA process is deleted, remove a lot of the background services collect and send data on the type of phone (DropBox, MotoCare , MotoConntect, Drive and etc).

Updated the OP with the latest retail build NPSS26.118-19-11.
Unlike most carrier unlocked moto devices, which tend to have multiple upgrade paths for different regions, the albus seems to have only one upgrade path for the retail variant so far.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, and please post the OTA files for alternate upgrade paths if you have them; directions are in the OP.
I have linked the tools I use to create these at the bottom of the OP.
You can use these tools and info in their threads to reverse engineer the stock build and modify it to your liking.
Thank you so much now i can have the latest update for my rooted moto thanks a lot
I have an unlocked Moto Z2 Play XT1710-01 and this is the latest update I am seeing:
NPSS26.118-24-6
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IUG-o0HWCgFGyNwX3aWzd4oqhHAzK25T/view?usp=sharing
EDIT:
I think i now understand the file name structure and that it includes the date. My updated was from 6/26 and your updated was from 11/19. I just updated to the newest. Thank you for doing this!

The file name structure doesn't have anything to do with the date it was made afaik.
That update is for "albus_c" and not "albus". I'm not sure what the difference is.
Apparently, there are multiple upgrade paths after all.
Flashing this will likely take you off your current upgrade path, but it is safe, so you can always go back to your previous stock build if you want.

Thanks @Q9Nap!
I've attempted to follow your instructions about applying OTA via TWRP, but that fails because of mismatching thumbprint - which sounds odd since I've downloaded and attempted to flash on exactly the same device...
Anyway, I'll try soon to flash the full stock ROM, after download from the link you've re-posted.
New update NOT PATCHED YET NPSS26.118-19-14
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1df6c3cWDU0mxt__mFhL-GiqzQzLWdKrD/view?usp=drivesdk
Contains November security updates
This has not yet been patched please wait for OP to do So
@Q9Nap can you put a tutorial on here telling us how to make a update flashable

51.1.A.11.51 changelog?

Does anyone who get it see a difference?
Could you provide the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
So we see, if the bootloader got updated and I can provide TWRP and XPeria AOSP.
Then the custom rom development can start.
Stock Android 8.0 September
(bootloader) version-bootloader:1310-7079_X_Boot_SDM845_LA1.0_O_60
Bootloader got an update and until Sunday I will upload a new Sony AOSP 8.1 build.
If it is bootable, I will release a new TWRP build.
Hmm, keep getting ”Could not install" from the India (IN) variant. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Anyone successfully install it and if so, with which region?

Hello do you think I can possibly flash H8216 firmware to my H8276 just as you flash H8226 to your H8296?

You should flash H8266, because the H8276 is dualsim, too.
H8216 would work fine, but the second sim is dead.
The external sdcard maybe, too.

Xperifirm and its building new flasher
But it will be like a factory reset.
Buuut it will work like a charm. And you get your updates faster.
But aren't you from Canadia?
Maybe the Canadian software is optimized/calibrated for your mobile network technology. :silly:

nah, U.S. but I grew up in Minnesota, which is close to Canada.
IN doesn't have problems with update speed, it's within hours of DE, but this is the second time the OTA has continuously failed. Though other times it's been fine.
OK, I see you're cheating and not getting it OTA.
Flashing another region's firmware though shouldn't require a full reset, as long as one removes the user data sin file from the folder.

A new bootloader.
Which allows custom ROMs and twrp, which allows the DRM fix.

oh, hmmm. since it's a new bootloader, is it a risk to switch firmware regions?

Of course not.
It is an universal bootloader.
@MartinX3 Just flashed the *51 firmware and my BL version string is:
Code:
1310-7079_X_Boot_SDM845_LA1.0_O_60
I'm trying to boot AOSP Oreo, I just built today, but no success so far.
Have you got better luck booting aosp?

Try my build in the twrp thread.
Someone told me, that he successfully booted the old aosp build.
So I made one with the newest sources.
A manual how to flash is there, too.
Maybe you need the OEM file from the last build.

Any errors, missing features?
How is the camera with the open camera app?
ADB? Usb? Touch? Sound?
The new 9.0 OEM image is compatible?

Well the 8.1 is not much of a usable one, i'll try the 9.0 after the build is complete, the touchscreen is not working as expected, it's picked up as a touchpad the UI is navigated with mouse, it seems that the graphics acceleration is not working (gralloc?), brightness is not adjustable. RIL works(sort of), calls work (mic produces robotic sound), Data works. ADB is not working and Developer Options menu crashes the settings app, Sleep not working, device gets quite hot over time(PM?).
Sound works. Camera is not accessible(just gray screen with the navbar at the bottom) It's fast as hell, though... That works SDM845 (rock)
