Agreed. My wifi even with the update hasn't been terribly stable. It shows connected but will DNS timeout. Disconnect/reconnect fixes it but still annoying.

New features and fixes in 4.4.3 (Battery life, UI, reboots, bugs discussion)

I just installed 4.4.3. This thread is for discussion of all things 4.4.3 related to Nexus 4.
I've attached a picture of the new dialer.
1. Dialer
2. Radio awesomeness: Wi-Fi connection established much faster than before. Remember how some networks couldn't be found easily? That's gone as well. When you turn off Wi-fi, cellular data connects in less than 3 seconds.
3. Shutting down takes longer than usual.
If you can't wait for OTA anymore, here is a way to install 4.4.3:

Did you root it aswell?

Nope. Works fine. I really hate using the phone at the native DPI so I had to do it and have faced no problems so far.

Anyone has flashable zip?
Also, for the first time in my android phone life i don't have a hell of a lot of duplicate contacts.
and the new UI is less awful than I thought. But it's not cool.
I found it annoying when i have to put a region code when out of town
Is there a new boot loader too? It seems that everyone is trying to download the factory image. I can't get the download to start.

You can get it from the factory image if you extract it with something like 7zip.

Wi-Fi Calling Draining Battery

Anyone notice their battery going down the tube with Wifi Calling on? My phone has been off battery for 8 hrs, its at 58% and showing 33% usage for Wi-fi calling. The next closest thing is 9% for Blinkfeed.
I have the same problem too. I even turned off "Wi-Fi Calling" in Settings and "Force Close" it. However, the Wi-Fi Calling app is still draining battery

Ahh..I'm running venomone latest and wifi calling is broke on that rom causing huge cpu usage and battery drainage that's why I asked. However, they do have a fix for wifi calling getting ready to come out for the rom here real soon

FYI. You can use titanium backup to freeze the wi-fi calling app to eliminate the drain until the fix comes out. You have to reboot after freezing

Thank you for the info! The app is no longer running.
That's very weird. I use it to save battery keeps the cellular radios off. Can go over 8 hours maybe 10% drain. Running captains stock rooted rom. It was a clean install. Make sure your firmware and radios are updated, do a hard reset.wifi calling has been working great for me

Maybe my phrasing was off.... WiFi lag that persists on 6.0 regardless of which rom or kernel I'm running.

ok, so just wifi lag, on whatever rom you run. kernel has nothing to do with that kind of stuff(just so youll know). if your wifi is working, then the kernel is fine
btw, ive been reading a more than enough lately of wifi lag on the n6 and marshmallow. i dont use wifi, so i cant really say anything about it.

I thought I remembered reading that some kernel devs were using something from lp in their l kernels as a WiFi fix for something?

When you have Wifi-lag the first easy thing you could do is checking if there are 'WiFi' repeaters in use.
The second easy thing is installing the app WiFi analyzer and check if your signal is blowing away by other signals.
The third easy thing is resetting your WiFi router.

Scrolling stutter in apps like XDA and playstore

I have tried almost all ROMs and facing scrolling stutter in apps like XDA and Playstore...is it just me or with everyone?

i notice it in chrome with websites like news.google.com and xda forums.
there are browsers that are faster that can aid in this issue.
My belief is that it is a ram assignment issue. I think the phone, or apps, limit the amount of ram each app gets. but i could be wrong.

I decided to try an alternate browser softer becoming frustrated with the same issue. In researching it, I ran into a lengthy discussion of the security and trustworthiness of alternative browsers and the developers.
Anyhow, as someone who has a history of rooting and flashing custom roms, I'm prepared to make that leap of faith in the case of an experienced XDA dev. But that's a choice for you to make.
There are a few that have been made available that are based on the same original CAF coding which was specifically written to optimize performance on snapdragon based devices (like the OP3 and OP3T). I have tried one side by side with chrome and found it to be consistently faster to load pages. Part of this improvement is that it has built in ad blocking.
Anyhow, I am now using an alternative CAF based browser as my default and am very happy..

I'm also experiencing this on Lineage OS, odly enough I didn't have this scrolling lagging in earlier builds or before last accidental clean flash. I just thought it was caused by going from F2FS to EXT4 as it kinda started when I did that conversion. But that's probably just a coincidence.

However, it isn't the rom that makes the difference. its the browser. Use yubrowser from the app store first to see if that helps.
As for apps, you won't find any rom different except maybe stock vs not.
I've noticed this too but a reboot is usually sufficient to get it to go away for me. Also noticed improved scrolling speeds on SultanXda's CM13 Rom, however I prefer to run stock myself.

I am not talking about browsers... But the native apps like XDA, Playstore, Twitter....
I know. But it's a start.
Started running citrus-caf. And I LOVE it. And no stutter in Twitter. Or browser so far. Don't have XDA app. But I'm mad impressed

Did you try RR Official? I tried Citrus and had the scrolling issue....
I did. I don't remember if I had the issue. Maybe a developer option could fix it? I use multiprocess webview.
I tried using conservative governor from this trick

And it improved a lot especially in scrolling pages here in xda ?

Need some help with alarms and wakelocks (Dipper)

Hi!
I've been having this problem for a while now. I'm on EU 8.12.13 / Sphinx 1.9 (Even though I tried different versions, kernels the problem is still there.)
Basically it keeps my phone awake a lot. I mean a lot. It barely goes to deep sleep. Sometimes restarting the phone fixes it but eventually it comes back.
Android System eats it all, specially the alarms I'm about to show you on my screenshots.
Can someone tell me how to fix this? I think it has something to do with wifi scanning or not. I wish there's an app like Amplify that you guys might know to help me with this issue. Thanks!
