Hi guys,
Could someone of the devs bring the "Reading Mode" from OnePlus 5?
In fact is a Black and White screen which I found it worthy in some situations.
Would it be difficult? I don't know, but I'm waiting for your opinions.
Peace!

Instead of asking to close the thread, why not post your solution so if anyone searches in the future, they will find you answer.

Yes, you are right. So, the solution is to go to Developer options - > Simulate color space - > select Monochrome and boom, you have "Reading mode". After this, you can "balance" the light from Live display.
To make things easier:
Terminal commands (root):
Disable monochromacy:
settings put secure accessibility_display_daltonizer_enabled 0
Enable monochromacy:
settings put secure accessibility_display_daltonizer_enabled 1
I use app Terminal Shortcut Pro for this and similar commands. If you need automatics there is Macrodroid, etc. Certainly, shortcuts from the terminal can be added in a variety of applications to run it.

So you tried AOD (Always On Display) on your favorite Port ROM, you like it but you don't use it anymore because of battery issue.
A way to avoid this would be, like application bases AOD do, to enable this feature only if the phone is on charge. Unfortunatly, this settings is not available. I found a way (somewhere, by somebody else, all credit to him) using Tasker to do it:
Once you have Tasker and Secure Settings (paid apps, but in my opinion, really worth it if you like customizing your device), open Tasker and do the following :
1. On the Tasks tab, create a new task called for example ‘AOD On’
2. In that new task, add an action (Category = Plugin, then Secure Settings)
3. Edit the configuration in the new screen and select Actions => Device Setting
4. In that screen, the Setting Table should stay at ‘system’, and the Setting Name should be ‘aod_mode’. The Setting Value should be set to ’1′.
5. Save the task and create another task with the same steps but call it ‘AOD Off’ and set the Setting Value to ’0′.
6. Once both tasks have been created, go to the Profiles Tab and create a new profile and select ‘State’.
7. Select state category => Power => Power
8. Leave Source as Any, and Invert unchecked.
9. Save the profile, choose the correct task (‘AOD On’), call it ‘Charging’ for example
10. Create a second profile called ‘Not Charging’ exactly the same way but with the ‘Invert’ of step 8 checked, and select the task ‘AOD Off’.
UPDATE : Solution No2 (+ disable AOD when battery is low)
1. Download this app (paid),
2. Don't forget to select the features you want to enable,
3. Thanks @erghetto in post #2 !
4. Voila !
Both solutions works fine on my S8 port. AOD becomes useful again !!!
Or simply use this:

Well honestly I tried all app based AOD and it's like lock screen app : more features, nice looking but not so well implemented that stock (security, look and feel, Speed...).
But if you are ok with it...

Maybe you didn't even open that link.
It is an app that simply activates aod only when phone is in charge (plus another feature)
So no need to download tasker or any other app.
It is paid, but also one app you suggests need be payed, so this one is simpler and doesn't require any configuration with tasker or similar

Ok, ok, I see, you're right, it's a good alternative. Now it depends if you already use Tasker or not, but for people who don't and don't want to bother with all Tasker settings, that's a nice app I didn't know !

Happy of having helped ^^
And thanks also to you, because you however provided a guide which i'm sure is interesting for many users
macrodroid is better
Howdy, folks. Been thinking about buying Tasker, wondering if it can do what I need.
I have an HTC phone with 'Sense Home' which is a feature that creates 'smart folders' that will change the apps presented based on location, presumably triggered by IP address. However, I don't care for how it works - the folders are dynamic and apps will change, depending on how much you use any given one. That's not what I want - I prefer a static folder.
Is it possible to set up Tasker to activate different app folders on the home screen based on location? If so, can you point to a guide on how to do such a thing?
Thanks!
You may want to have a look at On Time. It has native Tasker integration.

Where do you see such an option in AutoTools?
It's a project where you set auto tools as your launcher.

You're talking about the launcher shortcuts intruduced in Android 7 which pop up when you're long pressing the AutoTools icon, right?
I know about that possibility, but I think that's not what @BillTheCat is looking for. (Or am I wrong?)
@BillTheCat : Did you try out the app I linked in the second post?

I wanted to use Fluid Navigation Gesture, but when i tick the box to get rid of the navigation bar, it also remove the software rounding of the corners, making the bottom corners look awfull. I tried a lot of different app and they all have the same problem.
I can hide it by enabling the one finger navigation, but it's pretty annoying because i often hit the fingerprint sensor while swipping up.
And "re-rounding" the corner with an app doesn't work on the lockscreen and on the notification shade, so it's pretty worthless.
Does anyone know a way to fix this ?
Same issue, bothering me a lot.

This sounds like an overlay conflict. Try setting the priority of the of the apps overlay to the lowest or highest rung. Then reboot and see if it works.
In terminal use these commands, each line is a new entry.
su
cmd overlay list
cmd overlay set-priority --user 0 com.overlay.package.name.goes.here lowest
reboot
If that doesn't work, set it at the top. Just change out the word lowest for highest.
su
cmd overlay set-priority --user 0 com.overlay.package.name.goes.here highest
reboot

Thanks for the answer !
I forgot i asked this question here so i never came back to this thread. Oops.
I couldn't find a way to set the priority of the apps overlay.
So i tried the second option in ADB, because i guess that's what you meant by "terminal" ?
In ADB, theres 3 overlay :
com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks
[x] com.android.providers.partnerbookmarksoverlay
com.android.systemui
[x] com.android.systemui.PixelTheme.Android80
com.motorola.android.providers.chromehomepage
[x] com.motorola.android.providers.chromehomepageoverlay
The PixelTheme is a Substratum theme, i only use the Navbar because i hate Oreo stock Navbar.
So i tried to set the other two higher and lower, but after 7 restart nothing change, the corners still look like garbage.
I'm pretty sure i made something wrong, i'm new to this.
Do you know where i went wrong ?
And sorry for the late reply.

I honestly don't think you did anything wrong. If ADB didn't give an error, then it worked. I'm going to download the app and try it myself. I want to see if I can come up with a fix. I normally use Termux on android for a terminal, but ADB should definitely work.

Are you rooted? If not, you need to be in order to use those commands from android. If you are rooted, you're probably using Magisk, and if this is the case, set Magisk to core mode only, then reboot, and try again.
That being said, I did find the source of the problem. You're going to have to message the app developer for this one. After looking at app, I've determined that this property needs to be added to,
/res/values/dimens.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<resources>
<dimen name="rounded_corner_radius">10.0dip</dimen>
<dimen name="rounded_corner_content_padding">4.0dip</dimen>
</resources>
The precise values may be different, but this is what the G6 Play uses to make the corners round. The dev needs to incorporate this property for it to work. Unfortunately, I can't make this change myself and give it to you. If I could, I would. The app has paid features and is licensed, therefore I can't modify and share it without their explicit permission. If the app developer needs to ask me anything, they are free to send me a message. I'd be happy to help them out.

I don't think it's worth it.
Pie, alongside stock navigation gestures are coming soon and i'll probably use these rather than Fluid N.G.
I gonna try to message the app devloppers, but i don't know if they gonna bother doing this for the very few people who have this problem.
Thanks a lot for the help, i wasn't expecting someone to go this deep to help me.

Yeah, no problem. I don't like to give up easily.
When I had a OnePlus I would use it's greyscale display feature quite often, very useful for power saving etc.
I am aware that within Google devices running Pie that a greyscale option is available along with Do Not Disturb.
This feature does not appear to be ported over the the Samsung Note 9, which is a shame.
Does anyone know of a third party app or Tasker feature that could enable greyscale mode on the Note 9 where required?
Thx
You can enable Monocromacy in the Simulate colour space option in Dev options and probably get a similar effect.
Go to settings -> accessibility -> visibility enhancements -> colour adjustment , turn it on and select greyscale.

Many thanks for the tip. This achieves the desired result but is a bit fiddly, do you know if this is accessible via Tasker, or does a shortcut exist?

I made my own Tasker task shortcut on the main screen for this purpose.
The task only uses one action:
Add action -> Settings -> Custom setting
Type: Secure
Name: accessibility_display_daltonizer_enabled
Value: =:=toggle=:=
If it doesn't work for you, you can try finding the correct custom action with built-in Find function.
I see you got an answer regarding tasker. I can't help with tasker cause I've been too lazy to dig into it yet

Under the accesibility settings go to advanced settings, from there you can set the power + vol up shortcut to control the monocromacy. I've gotten quite used to this function on a OnePlus 6 and have been using it this way on the Note 9.
I think the OP6's reading mode gave it a yellowish, e-reader like tint though, which made it better imo.
No notifications waiting makes the screen off and AOD not showing.
Recieving or already having a notification shows AOD.
On top of that you can select which apps are important to you to behave this way for their notifications and ignore others, also can be set similary for charging = on / not charging = off.
Yet it has no additional impact on battery of what AOD usually consume maybe it will use like additional 0.009%
1- Install Always On Edge App
2- in Main settings section -> enable With AOD invisible -> but show AOD on notifications.
3- Main settings -> required permissions -> notifications access
And optional permissions -> AOD lighting controller.
4- save.
And that is it no need to enable any other permission or feature. However, please note that if you enable edge lighting then timing will be applied.
Please stop making multiple threads just for free advertisment of your own App. One Thread should be more than enough. Also you should mention That its 5$ to use it this way.
Sometimes we dont have to follow rules, but we have to use our own brain. That is advertisment and unnesecery, everybody knows that xda has way too less mods and is allways searching for new ones. making a new thread just because one of the features of your app, think about it...you are going to need about 50 threads then.
@saturday_night Sorry it is not advertisement at all, the app is already well known. I read rules carefully but did not see any notes about those two points. Also a while ago got in conversation with a moderator about posting the same app in multiple forums instead of just one thread in apps&games forum and he said this is allowed. Also I'm not talking about the app in particularly to sum it in one thread, as the title indicate those two threads are for two different features/tips/workaround that can be made on pixel by this app and only by this app

What are i'm doing wrong? My AOD doesnt go on
@amico81 AOD settings set to show always?
@ABSELT05 that was the solution thx for the help
I had to enable notification access for the app to work. Otherwise the app didn't wake AOD when a notification came in.
Now it works beautifully BUT unfortunately the battery drain of AOD is the same as it is without the app. And that's with only a few messages coming in, meaning AOD is off most of the time.
Are you aware of this or is it just me?
Is there any way to disable the localization of the app? The translation is terrible, and I can't find the settings.
Whatever I do, I only see the clock and the wheater info at the center of the screen.
@too.stoopid Sorry about misexplaining I edited the post.
Without being a system privileged app can not turns AOD really off it just seems off for the seak of easily and clearly being aware of having notifications far from phone

If you have tasker, you can create a profile to do all of this without the extra battery drain.
