ROM / Kernel Benchmark Comparisons - **Update 2 - 06/11/12**

I had some free time on my hands yesterday and this morning and thought I would spend the time comparing the different ROM's and Kernels available for the Vivid. Not really sure what I'm trying to achieve here, other than I was curious on the results of all these. I'm going to keep testing and updating this chart and will update as I go for those of you who care to view them. Again, I did (and still doing) this just because and thought I would share.
All these tests were performed on fresh installs w/ full wipes. The latest AnTuTu Benchmark, ver. 2.8.2 was used to get results. Results are an avg. of a minimum of 2 cycles. A cycle being Full Wipe, ROM Install, Boot, Reboot Twice more, Reboot into Recovery and Flash Kernel, Reboot, Run AnTuTu.
**Initial Post**
3 ROM's w/ multiple kernels and frequency's
**Update 1**
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A13 running at 1728MHz and Kozmik RC2 running at 1728MHz & 1782MHz
--Not sure if I'll be able to provide any results beyond 1728MHz, except for the Kozmik RC2 results. Kozmik RC2 is the only kernel I've been able to run beyond 1728MHz and maintain stability, no reboots, etc. However, will keep trying and will report back if I'm able too--
**Update 2** 06/11/12
Added results of Holics 0.8 ROM using KangBang A14 running at 1674MHz. Surprisingly, I was unable to run this at 1728MHz or higher successfully. Was very slow and kept hanging. Was able to get through 1 benchmark at 1728MHz and it only yielded a result of approx. 3400 (ouch). 2D and 3D fps were around 28.

one question, why Dark Raider ROM have very high score on SD card Write, this happen to me also, does it is a bug or its true..? score about 10x higher than the other ROM.
PS : if u have a time bro, please test again @ the same CPU speed, like 1.5 GHZ or 1.2 GHZ. i wanna know, the best combination of ROM and Kernel. thx

Honestly, I couldn't begin to tell you why the write speed is high. Perhaps some of the developers might be able to chime in on that.
Regarding the additional testing you requested, I may have something for you in the next couple of days. Life has gotten in the way again, lol. Also, now that Dark Raider development has been put on hold, I don't know how much further testing I'm going to do on that ROM beyond your request. At least until its back to being active.

Maybe they changed the default sd cache size. You can do this on any rom provided you're rooted with sd booster available on the market

I dont think so, sd card chace doesnt increase such high. Yes, DR set chace 4096 kb & Holic 1024 as default, but although set @ same level, holic still cannot match DR Value.... It must be something special on DR. But i dont know why

Have you checked to see of the roms your testing on are actually initializing init.d scripts? This could potentially be a culprit if scripts aren't being run.

As promised, here is my first version of Stock kernel.
The main goal of this kernel is to bring a sightly improved performance over Motorola release, patching out the things that needed to be patched and compiling it with the latest Linaro toolchain. The methodology of work is the same as all my projects, trying to improve what we have with the most minimalistic approach possible.​

I suggest Boggy Kernel, that would be a little eye blink (i don't know if we can translate this from french to english lol...) to Bedalus and his Moggy kernel, and it sounds like "buggy" kernel... so no one would complain if something doesn't work as expected haha.
More seriously, installed it, wiped cache and dalvik (even if i don't think it's necessary) and will use it today, i'll tell if i feel any difference compared to bedalus' v13.

No this is for stock only. Do not try on custom roms that are not stock based, it will not work.

i actually tried on slimrom i thought there would be hope.. it just left me in tears :,(

Note that I had set Intelli-plug to boost the cpu up to 600MHz max when the screen is off. I'm still experimenting with these values so it may change on next release. Feel free to switch this value with Kernel Adiutor if you like.

Can you explain why you decided to set the cpu to 600Mhz while the screen is off? What is the default value?

By this line do you mean that the kernel actually fix the annoying bug of the random transition animation stutter?

Lets say I have an app that produces wakeclock, I.E Whatsapp/Gmail/Etc, when you get a message the device will be woken, when that happen we don't want the CPU at full speed, 600MHz should be enough to handle those minor task and other wakeclocks your device may encounter on deep sleep.
On the other hand, there's also a theory that is called "Race to iddle" and it says that you need the CPU at full speed to send the phone to sleep as soon as possible whenever you get a wakeclock. It is been discussed a lot on XDA on several devices, what work best for you may vary.
Oh and default speed is no handicap at all. (You can remove it with Kernel Adiutor)
Also remember that this setting is only for Intelli-Plug. With MP-Decision you don't have to worry about this stuff.
Edit: My advice is, If you want to tweak things use Intelliplug, otherwise stick with MP-Decision. (I use default settings that come with the kernel, Intelliplug is meant for those who like to tune up stuff to their liking.)

@J0kker As a matter of fact I named my kernel folder "Boggy" becouse Beto and moggy kernel, bwahah, sounds good. Also "Broggy" may be an option too :laugh:

Our processor is weird... it doesnt reboot on extremely high oc but it degrade performance
i dont recommend the use of oc above 1.6GHz the cpu auto blocks at the lowest frequency...

[GUIDE] How to unlock OpenGL ES 3.1 on ALE-L21

This is for now tested just by me on EMUI 3.1 B204 and @HaiderHady on ??? EMUI.
I'm not sure if this feature this will work on custom roms. Will test later.
Pre-Requirements:
1.Rooted device
2.TWRP installed
3.Downloaded GLToolsXDA.apk: http://rgho.st/private/7HLBZXbr2/9069d63c2e960745f089c488b949b7b6 ~The app is not developed by me, it is by @n0n3m4 ~
Installation:
1. Be sure that you have installed a game or an app that requires OpenGL 3.1 (In my case, Antutu Benchmark 6.2, to unlock the "Marooned" 3D benchmark what asks for OpenGL ES 3.1
2. Install GLTools
3. Open GLTools
4. Don't do nothing until the message for root has appeared and you've accepted it.
5. Tick all 3 Boxes

7. System will Re-Spring, just wait
8. After install, open GLTools
9.Choose the app, in my case Antutu benchmark ~warning: the app has ads, but at least it works~
10. Go to ~Use fake GPU info~ :
11. Tick it and click on "Use a template"
12. Select Mali T760
13. (optional) (just for antutu benchmark) If you want to make this antutu, change the GPU info just in the 3D app, not the other one or both, because it will crash
14. Done! Your game should work! Tell me if it works to put into the ~Tested Apps & Games~ section

It us "emulated" OpenGL 3.1, not full, the hardware doesn't support it, but with this hack GL 3.1 apps should work
To see the scores, check my "Biggest Antutu scores on a P8Lite" page 2-3 , you'll find one of my replies with saying that I unlocked OpenGL ES 3.1

I tried it on LOS 13 to have marooned and I don't know if it's working.
I installs without any problem but Antutu skips Marooned anyway... of course I used Mali T760 template only in Antutu 3DBench.

I tested on EMUI 4 .....?

It can be due to HW Composer or Some other issue related to GPU on lineage os...
Don't worry...This hack is just for benchmarks crushing and not real world performance ?

This is a tweaked(not by me) version of GLTools to unlock all features, but if you bought it and it works I have no problem

Here is benchmark tweaks, but now I'm using gltools 3.0 what simulates ES 3.2
With 3.1 and same tweaks I got just 50K, check my "Highest antutu scores on a p8 lite" thread.

Search on play store "gltools", but the app is paid. If you download a apk version from the internet it will not let you into the app, saying when you need to install the module: "Pirate, pirate, pirate" everywhere instead of some codes
And if you edit the .apk with Lucky Patcher/ or by code, it will open and say that if you do not uninstall the app and you continue hacking it, it will result in a "rm rf" or something worse.
This developer of the app is crazy. I've seen on youtube many cases when you spam open the app and you continue trying to hack it=> the device restarts resulting into formatted /system partiotion, because the app has acces to root and its new version 3.0(or over 2.0) has in its graphics modules a module that makes the phone give acces to the app to /system partition, same as Magisk. And I'm not joking, but not 100% on the modules part. But the "rm rf" part is real, search for yourself.
I will let some screenshots to let you see what may happen.
Edit: I've interested more, and the app has an DRM protection. Maybe if I have time I can recompile the app and remove the protection and send it to you, for testing (I cannot put it in a thread or somewhere else because I may result being banned from XDA for sharing hacked app. Or maybe I am going to post it in you P8 Lite portugal facebook page.
But if the app does actually rm -rf the phone doesn't that mean google needs to ban it?

Yes both are in the same folder. But named accordingly.

hey, the CPU and GPU overclock and underclock is active when flash the kernel without any extra app like Kernel Adiutor or EXKM or need that to turn on overclock/underclock?!
also, what governor are active stock with this kernel?
i am asking this cause i dont use any app to monitor the system CPU or GPU, i just use it as it is. sure i wold like to try this cause i try every kernel for G6...also, if you use one or another wold you compare this one, more like Melina or mk2000 kernel?

Its heavily based off of mk2000 kernel.
Im using mk2000 source with my own additions.
Blu_active is default so you would need to change it yourself to the others. and the gpu overclock should be enabled by default and same with the cpu underclock

Btw this kernel is optimized to play pubg smoothly without significant battery drain. But in order for it to work properly you would need to change big cores governer to performance and little cores to zzmoove. And increase gpu freq to 745 with the msm adreno governer.

well, just to thank u, i will try it, but ofcourse i wold love to have this kernel without GPU overclock, just stock...but CPU underclock is welcome for sure, i ran into better battery life over performance any day. thank u again, i will try it.

If you would like i could make one without gpu overclock. But you could change the frequency to 624mhz without any real performance drops

i wold like to have one, and if you could make interative gorvernor the stock active one with the cpu underclock and that gpu without overclock it will be amazing...also, i dont know if is possible to make doze mode more effective and when lock the device the doze run right tru and step in, i feel like mk and melina kernel doze isnt work like it should.
EDIT: mk2000 give 160.000 around antutu, your kernel like it is without changes gives 183000, wow...a real overclock for sure, 81310 just in GPU. conglats, and i dont feel phone really hot, just a little, i will use it as they are a few days but if you could make the one i ask above i will test it after. thank u...

Not too bad for not messing with the cpu stuff.

New build will be up tomorrow with some more tweaks.
I will also make a build with no overclock but same features and will be made for both variants.

Bluetooth issues and reset
Flashed on my H872 using the AOSP-extended rom, and was having issues getting error messages about Bluetooth stopping and not working, and this would crash and cause the System UI to reboot over and over.

Im downloading the AquariOS source so i can also compile aosp based kernels as well.

Is anyone willing to test my android 9 kernel for custom roms? It will be a bare bone build. Will post when finished, I would test myself but im on stock so let me know
