touch delay issue - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have touch delay and i know this question is already posted but i want to ask something what if we try to port the lollipop touch drivers? that's a possible fix i think

Interestingly I also discovered that having a second finger on screen fixes said issue. Likely something with the screen sleep modes.

Wow, i can confirm that on thea (XT1072) which has the touch delay too - placing second finger on screen, gives less delay. You can see it in "Color Switch" game.

it is strange but with lollipop there's not any touch delay
(sorry for my bad english)

Wow! The second finger is a good workaround! Thanks! I've been struggling to play Geometry Dash and other intensive tap games, now it's playable again.

[Q] Screen sensitivity

I am not sure whether it is my mind playing trick with me or not, but I feel like my phone is less sensitive after I did the hard reset (power+volume down). Sometimes I need to press 2-3 times because the first light tap was not detected.
So is there anyway to increase the sensitivity?
I have the same problem, but no idea that is the hardware or only software problem.....
Fresh owner of this Optimus 2X in France, in our community, frandroid.com, we encounter the same problem , I think this is a software issue.
Did someone already contact LG??
Maybe they should include this into the bug list thread.
May I know were you guys having this problem since it is out of the box? or after reset?
I have the same problem started from day 1 till now
I have the same issue and already thought I'd be the only one having this problem.
I would not say it's a problem with sensitivity, but it feels like the touchscreen goes into some kind of sleepmode where then you need to press a second time, to wake it up.
Continuous touching is no problem. (like when typing rapidly on the keyboard)
This video is not from me, but it shows the problem.
Have a look at 13:28 and 13:37. The reviewer tries to hit the "Ackermann" entry, but the touchscreen does not recognize the touch. At 13:37 the guy has to press another time to get the entry selected.

Yes! The touchscreen is definitely less sensitive than my old HTC Hero, and gets quite frustrating sometimes when a scroll misses the first part of the movement or a click is missed.
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App
just in case, are you guys using 20110218 baseband too?
The same problem here. If I unlock the screen and then tap on any on screen apps, I need to touch again for it to open. Only the first time though, after that it function ok. I think this is a bug and needs to be fixed... I have my pc for double-click.
Yep, count me in. Same problem here. Sometimes screen taps aren't registered. Will do some research later on, but I think it's a software problem. (maybe you have to tap 2x as fast )
Hi,
same problem here!
Potentially a driver issue. A Nexus S user had a similar issue in this thread: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/18431-tuning-driver-to-deal-with-unresponsive-touchscreen/
He managed to tweak the driver and it works fine now. Need to know C++ (I think?) to understand though.

I see, then probably they will fix it on the next update/gingerbread?
Same issue here.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the problem seems to be that the screen has zero tolerance when it comes to tapping and swiping together. If you tap and slide your finger a bit directly after the tap, the tap is ignored. In other words your tap has to be a steady tap when you click on a button or an app. Right on the spot and with no swiping or sliding afterwards. I can't reproduce this on any of my other devices.
Ergo, it seems that the natural tapping I'm used to isn't working on the x2. It seems like I have to adjust my tap. I think that this could in principle be solved with a setting somewhere, because clearly the x2 is capable of registering this in for example a web page.
The great thing of this is that you can safely tap and swipe in the app drawer to scroll up and down or left and right. The downside is that a tap with a little swipe isn't registered at all. I would say that LG has choosen here for a wrong setting.
My personal experience about screen sensivity.. can you confirm if it's the same for your device?
I noticed a strange touch response.. and after some tests, I can say that the touch screen and icons are influenced by the surface where the phone was put!
with the phone in my hands, it's all ok (only sometimes - rare - I need to tap more than once).
If I put the phone over a glass surface (like a glass table) without touching it with both hands, the touch and the icons not respond!! NEVER!
If I put the phone on my scanner the touch screen works ok, but the icons not (or only few and rare taps was detected).!
If I put the phone over my big Onkyo amplifier.. It works like in my hands.. or better!! even without touching with hands.. only with a finger!
Put it back on my glass table.. and all stop working again. If I put a aluminium foil under the phone (between phone and table).. the touch and the icons works again !!
If I put it on the bed.. it don't work.
LG support say that they have tested the phone about this issue after my report.. but no strange response was detected by them. I don't know if they really tested it..
Try it and let me know what you think about!
tested on glass surface, I can press and swipe through pages with a finger without problem.
it is true that my device is not so responsive, but aint reaching that level yet
i read about a similar behaviour on other devices because some devices need a proper grounding for the capacitive screen to work correctly. You can find this problem via google.
Some devices have problem in a car-mounting, for example.
But i think thats not the problem the thread-opener talked about?
Guys I'm looking to get this phone and after reading Engadgets review of the X2 where they mention that the screen is not as sensitive to the touch as other phones I got a bit worried and started googling which lead me here!
Is this true? The screen isn't very sensitive and you have to apply more pressure than other capacitive phones?
I know that the OP is talking about a different issue but I reckon LG will get that sorted out via software update, or at least hope so!
Please do post your experience about the screen sensitivity of the X2 as this is putting me off. I currently have the Motorola Milestone 2 which is very sensitive to the touch even with a screen protector on it.
Cheers

Touch Screen Sensitivity...

Anyone else having problems with the sensitivity on fast scrolling? Seems to not be as smooth or compared to the iPhone 6 and HTC One M8 I have been playing with...It's almost too sensitive or something, I can't quite put my finger on it.
Do you mean the effect where things sometimes bounce back while scrolling?

There is an earlier topic about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/swipe-issues-t2888154
The phone has an extra-sensitive touch screen because it has a "glove mode", and I'm thinking the effect of the technology for that glove mode isn't completely suppressed when the glove mode is disabled, so the touch screen would still be slightly more sensitive than those of other phones, even when glove mode is disabled.
If glove mode is enabled, the touch screen is so incredibly sensitive that without gloves, it will register a touch when you hover your finger about a millimetre above the touch screen.
I found that for me it helps to use "lighter" and shorter swipes. Also after a swipe lifting my finger a bit higher off the screen than I was used to.
Some people might always have been doing shorter and lighter swipes, hence not everyone is experiencing the problem. It's also been said on the Xperia support forum that not all units use the same glass for the front; some use "gorilla glass", others use "dragontrail" glass. That could also be influencing the touch screen sensitivity/behaviour.
I've adjusted my swiping habits relatively quickly and now I get the bounce back effect only once in a while.
I do hope that Sony comes with a firmware fix to compensate for the over-sensitivity though.

hi, is it normal? happen to my unit also.. quite annoying i can tell.. different with my TX..
Go into developer options and enable "Show touches", perhaps touch the screen a few times then turn off show touches.
Sorts it out for me! I was having a nightmare swiping down to select words in Fleksy.
This workaround will do for me until Sony fix it properly!

I really wish there was a way to turn down the sensitivity. During typing, I frequently have screen presses register as very short swipes, which is incredibly irritating, as I then have to backspace and delete two words.
Not really helping you, but this shows how sensitive the z3c display is:

Touch screens usually respond to metal. The screen of my Z2 tablet does.
My screen is so sensitive I can operate it using my leg... through the pocket. I saw in Z1 and Z2 threads that there is a config file that can be adjusted, however I'd have to root in order to do that, and I don't want to risk losing my warranty (esp. not when reading about glass breaking by itself).
It's not a massive problem -- all it takes is switching off "double tap to wake" and camera launch button. But those are features that are useful. On the other hand, having my phone suddenly switch Torch on, call a random person in my phonebook or reorder icons on the launcher desktop isn't all that exciting either -- not a fan of surprises.
Has anyone else found the Z3 Compact screen too sensitive? (Glove mode is off, obviously.)

On my previous phone (xperia acro s) it often happened that my leg messed with the phone when the screen went on for the alarm going off in my pocket. It was really annoying. I was always afraid that some important settings changed without knowing it.
My screen is so sensitive that I the last couple of weeks only have managed to send a few sms without having to delete several words that are written wrong...!
The speeddialer is also terrible and often leads to wrong contacts...
This phone is by far the worst phone I have ever had regarding these issues!
Is this a sign of a faulty phone or can you relate to these problems as well?
Is there a solution???
My speed dial wasn't working out of the box. Had to make a factory reset, that fixed it. Sensitivity isn't interfering with my writing though. My previous phone was a bit bigger so I had to get used to writing on a smaller keyboard. But why would touchscreen sensitivity be an issue when writing anyway? Are you using a swipe keyboard?
No I'm just using it out of the box settings...? I can see swipe is enabeled but I text normal... I have had to disable autocorrecting words when I write... It is really strange... I have had many different smartphones over the last 15 years and this is by far the most responsive ever tending to be useless because of the many mistakes I make during calls and sms...
I never had any issues what so ever with my M7...?
I have just disabled "motioninput" (roughly translated from danish...) under Xperia-texting and this seems to have helped alot!!!
I'm on the same boat - it's too sensitive compared to my m8. Hoping for update to fix it
You really should try to do what I did and disable motioninput! It really helps ??
I'm on the same boat - it's too sensitive compared to my nexus 4. Hoping for update to fix it
I go into running apps and force stop com.sonymobile.touchscreen.touchfilter.tfpss and it seems to be a little better, still sensitive but at least no bouceback. I should try pm blocking it.

I've tried this as well, but unfortunately no change, I still get bounce-backs when I don't use particularly light and short swipes.

P10 touch screen responsiveness issues

Hey guys my first post here!
I'm having touchscreen issues after the oreo update (android 8). I got the update around 10 days ago.
I'm experiencing the following:
- The most important: Taps not registering sometimes. I used to be able to softly tap anything without any problem, but now my taps are not registering sometimes and i have to double tap.
- Bad scroll detection : the device sometimes recognizes scrolling as a knuckle gesture (crop screenshot) or scroll responsiveness is laggy.
- Tap registering as a knuckle tap. This happened only once. I tapped two times with my finger as the first one didn't register and it took a screenshot.
My use of the phone didn't change since the update and I'm kinda concerned. Is this a software problem? Anyone else experienced something similar?
I have the same issue! Many times knuckle gestures turns on not recognize correctly the touch.
Reboot phone in recovery mode and select format cache.
Restart and try touchscreen again.
Same issues with touch screen response after Oreo update.
Format cache does not solve the problem.
Sometimes is not registering finger. Sometimes register as double tap.
This is happening with my phone as well. It also registers phantom input, like occasionally things on far away from my fingers. The YouTube app has been especially sluggish when scrolling or swiping, to the point where it confuses swipes with taps and opens random stuff while lagging, or just crashes. The gboard is also becoming increasingly unpredictable and sometimes it feels like everything is being registered a litte skewed.
I checked the memory in case I got one of the bad ones, but it seems ok. It must be either the screen or a software thing then?
Same issues on day one from last year nougat rom
Any updates on this issue?
I am on 369 and is very annoying.
Any solution?
Downgraded to Nougat with HiSuite and problems with touchscreen gone.
I have problems only on Oreo.
Friend not having single issue on Oreo.
Don't understand.

Touch issue

Is it me or does C3 has a weird touch issue where it doesn't respond for a single touch. Like not freezing or anything just skipping a touch. Thought it would get fixed on A.33 update but it didn't. Anyone else?
Yep same here. New Australian version RMX2020 with 3gb/64gb Android 10 Realme UI. You need to hit the icon bang on in the middle or it won't respond. Quite annoying actually. The "Settngs" icon on the second page would quite often flip left back to page one when trying to click on it.....
I have the same issue and went to realme service centre, they reinstalled ota and it doesn't seem to solve the issue. i think its a panel issue
Having Same issue...

Ya, at first I thought it was just a sensitivity problem, but now I think you're spot on the money!
I have the double-tap to turn screen on settings enabled, and sometime it doesn't respond. Then I thought, if it's skipping a touch then maybe I should try triple tap it instead of double tap, and it works!
Same goes for the single tap operation. It really does seems to skip a touch, just sometime but not always. How weird!
Know this is an old thread..... but am having the same issue with an RMX 2020 version that I purchased a couple of days ago in Ecuador. Sometimes the phone takes a firmer tap to get a response, sometimes not. Also does not seem to be confined to any particular portion of the screen so hoping the digitizer isnt going out. For the money to me at least its an impressive phone.
if your hand is near the corner of the screen then it doesn't register the touch

Question Rear display functionality enhancement

Hey All,
I had a look at game triggers for games like COD or PubG today but it seems that camera module prevents most of them to stay still while playing. Since we have a second screen with touch capability, I was wondering if it is possible to develop an android app to receive touch and gestures from rear display while game booster is open. These inputs would then be used to map touches on front screen. If you hold phone horizontally, one finger stays on rear screen.
Example gestures would be, swipe left, swipe right, and touch or double touch. This would really compensate having a big camera module.
Considering limited options on rear screen is this realistic? What are your thoughts?
Thanks.
I don't think it will work very well
You may eventually be able to remap it to do something but I doubt it would play very well in games since it was never designed with that in mind
You would probably be safer selling it and buying a dedicated gaming phone with extra triggers etc
Their was a guy on YouTube, that figured out a way to use the secondary screen to play game. It's in Spanish if that helps?
