[ZIP][Flashable] OPP3 Pixel Mod - NEED TESTERS - Nexus 6P Themes and Apps

This is a continuation of my other Pixel Mod post. This is a pixel mod for OPP3.
What's included:
-Pixel Accent Color
-Round Icons
-Luthepa1's Black Boot Animation
-Pixel Audio
-Pixel Launcher
-All Rotations (0, 90, 180, 270 degrees) Because I like it
-Night Mode
What's missing:
-DT2W - I enabled this and it was causing problem so it's a WIP
-Nav Bar - Almost done
If anyone could test this out and let me if it's all working for them, that would be awesome. For some reason, Substratum was needed to (somehow magically) enable Device Theme in settings. That was key to some of the pixel mod. But I tested later and was able to work without it. For some reason, this seems to bring night mode too. But I wanted to release this to see if the accent color and Icons were working for everybody else. :good:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=961840155545579265
If you want to manually set the Pixel Accent Color (Find my comment below - It's extensive) that should work. However, if you want a workaround that's simple, flash this workaround https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=673368273298969440
That'll have the Accent Color just like V2 had

All good here. I've not got substratum. So, I don't have Pixel Accent Colours (I think). Navigation bar as you said isn't on yet. Round icons working good.

Installed it, got a fail message in twrp when flashing but i got round icons (for icons that could already be changed in pixel launcher), night light and boot animation but no blue accent color or device theme option
Great job btw !
Edit : Substratum installed, before flashing your mod i had the dt2w option under display settings but now it's gone

screenshots from testers please.

Thank you. The Accent color worked for me, but suspected it was because of me getting Device Theme to work previously and enabled the pixel theme. So once I uninstalled and reflashed this mod, it accepted the Pixel Mod by default.
Was there an error message for you in TWRP?

I believe that error message comes from trying to flash something into the vendor. The blue accent color actually comes from a theme similar to what you'd see in Substratum. It's interesting. Google placed the apk for the Pixel Theme in the vendor.img. For some reason, when trying to flash there I get an error message sometimes and sometimes not.
Thanks for the feedback. I turned off DT2W for this mod. I had the switch enabled but it was causing some issues when I was attempting to make it work. Thanks for the feedback

The issue with the Pixel Accent is this:
Originally the Pixel Accent was a modification in the Framework-res.apk. Now that's changed. It's actually a theme apk (similar to substratum) in the vendor partition. TWRP doesn't support modifying this partition which is what causes the error. I accidentally found a workaround to this I'm trying to isolate what it was

All works fine ... exept an error on TWRP. But i can not set the weather. The widget shows only the date. I Cleared Google app, and Pixel launcher, but still have an date widget on screen ((rolleyes:
And i dont have Rounded Icons..... (On me Nexus 6p Android 8 DP3) --- screenshot --->

I am having the same problem with the Error 7 in TWRP. But flashing V2 yields the accent colors but V3 removes the accent colors but enables round icons

V2 and V3 go about changing the accent color differently. As a workaround in V2, i modified framework-res.apk. Normally this had the accent color, but instead it was now a reference code that just pointed to all the different shades of teal. I changed these to the pixel colors (there's multiple). This gave the accent but actually changed some things from teal that weren't supposed to.
I now have figured out how the Pixel gets its accent color, and it's not through framework-res.apk. It's actually an app placed in the Vendor, that works like an overlay/theme.
I've tried implemented this, but TWRP doesn't flash to the vendor partition. I need to find a way to enable the device theme setting that used to be in OPP1 AND 2 also so it can be selected.
If you want to use the Pixel Accent, extract the zip, go into the vendor folder and follow it until you find the PixelThemeOverlay.apk. You'll have to manually place it into your vendor folder, and you'll need to make that file structure. Folders need to be made with permission 755 and the APK needs to be 644.
After that install Substratum and apply a compatible theme such as Of Accents found in this forum. Reboot and possibly wipe cache. Go into Display settings and at the bottom there will be a setting called "Device Theme". Tap it and then choose Pixel instead of your Substratum theme. You can then disable your Substratum theme or even uninstall it. But if you uninstall the overlay, your setting will be gone. You'll still have the Pixel Accent Color

Looks nice! Will check it out!
Edit: Looks really nice. I will leave it as my standard theme!!
looks pretty darn good, apex launcher settings menus needs some love, but overall nice work,,thankyou, steve
It's absolutely stunning!
One issue - the Theme (style only, without fonts) made the name of the apps inside folders white - so basically I can't see it.
Also the names in the App Drawer are black, and the "Play Store" on the top of the Play Store app.
Again, with only style enabled. Google Now Launcher.
Edit: Happens also when Fonts enabled...

Reboot or restart SystemUI.
Try other themes, if it does not theme the System UI, it is the bug in the Theme Engine (I haven't experienced thus bug in -14-nightly, btw).
One solution is to clean flash the ROM (not recommended)
Second, is to clear data in the com.android.settings.provider using SQLite Editor. https://plus.google.com/116689633884724775636/posts/Je2SSLNLz8v
Hi, awesome theme!
My notification drawer looks great, I have a couple of strange things though.
Running PA 5 on OnePlus One. The font is ubuntu.
1) Play Store header (black font on dark background)
2) Play Store side drawer (is that the name?) (black text over image, but that could be ok, and white bar)
3) Settings (white bars, unthemed "gestures" icon, but that happens in every theme on PA)
4) White background in contacts (in the list), don't know if it's wanted (no screenshot because of names) + White background when adding a new contact
5) White background in calculator app
Have to say nice Skin. You just got a fan...
Got it via the Playstore - Works great ^^ - Sony Xperia Z2 CM 12

Great feedback mate!
1. Will be fixed in the next update.:good:
2. I'm looking for a fix for that.:fingers-crossed:
3. That's because of PA5 alpha1 build, let's wait until they build their next update
4. That's wanted. Do you like dark bg mate?
5. I wanted it white there.
I will possibly fix some of the issues you found in the next update.
EDIT: for the gestures icon, PA on mako does not include gestures, if you could provide the Settings.apk on your devices, that would be awesome, I'll add the gestures icon.

Yep, It's Google Now Laucher.
My ROM settings says 480DPI, but in GSMArena it's ~424DPI.

4 & 5 - Ok, I'd make it dark, but it's your theme, not mine when adding a contact, though, the dark button at the bottom doesn't look quite right imho...
I uploaded the settings.apk on Drive, I'm not positive it's the one you wanted, let me know here's the link: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0BxACAie30hHeNlIyWG50SmtVVEE/edit?usp=docslist_api
While uploading I noticed that both Documents and Downloads have a white background and light grey text (might be ROM's fault, but I'm reporting everything I find )
PS: What's the code of the color of the drawer's background? I'd like to apply it to Nova

Original thread contents below:
Hello all,
I present to you my Material Design/Dark theme for the S6. Material Design is meant to mimic the stock Google ROMs where available, and the official GApps elsewhere. Material Dark is my spin on a dark version of AOSP. NOTE: The Dark theme is bound to have a few colors broken as there are no strings to theme some of the items. Blame Samsung, not me
Updates will be pretty slow on this theme now that I have been accepted as a Samsung Theme Designer. These themes will be avaialbe in the Theme Store soon!
What is required for this theme to work:
-Root
-The ability to install the Urban theme, whether through the Samsung Theme Store or sideloading the APKs
-FlashFire (or a root file manager to manually copy files and change permissions) or TWRP

Instructions:
Make sure you are using FlashFire to install this, not Flashify. The FlashFire thread can be found here. You can also flash with TWRP, or install manually as well if you'd like.
To use the theme, all you need to do is have the Urban theme installed before you flash this. You can find Urban in the Theme Store by finding any themes by SIDI (they also have the Pink Theme, Desert, and Anime), then clicking the More button next to "Themes by SIDI" at the bottom of the description. Alternatively, you can manually install the APKs found in this thread using the instructions found there.
1. Make sure you have the Urban theme installed and applied first!!!
2. Flash either Material Design or Material Dark using FlashFire or TWRP.
If there is a certain app you don't want themed, edit /data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson/br.org.sidi.Urban.json and remove the line for that application (for example, if you don't want the keyboard themed, remove line 22 that says "br.org.sidi.Urban.inputmethod",). Then delete the corresponding folder from /data/app/.
The Material Design Icons ZIP file just contains the individual icons if anyone wants them. It is not a flashable ZIP.
Upgrades can simply be flashed over existing versions of my theme. If something doesn't go right afterwards, refer to the Troubleshooting section below.
Troubleshooting:
If you run into issues with this theme not applying properly, please uninstall it from the Theme app and choose the default theme. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ANOTHER THEME APPLIED BEFORE DELETING ANY FILES. Then, using a file browser with root access, remove any of the following left on your phone:
all of the folders in /data/app/ begining with br.org.sidi.Urban
/data/overlays/font/br.org.sidi.Urban0
/data/overlays/preview/br.org.sidi.Urban
/data/overlays/lockwallpaper/br_org_sidi_Urban_wallpaper.png
/data/overlays/jsonfiles/userjson/br.org.sidi.Urban.json
Reboot after deleting these files. Then re-download Urban using the Theme Store and apply the theme. Make sure the regular Urban theme is working on your phone, then flash the ZIP.
-------------------------------------------------------
Big thanks to @ilardi for helping me test this theme, and @Gunthermic for providing the APKs for a variety of themes, including Urban!
Please let me know if you guys find any problems with this theme. Please PM me a full-resolution screenshot if you want me to be able to fix it easily

Yeah they promised it by the end of April... It is now mid-May.. I'm kinda disappointed in that. Idk if the theme tool will ever be "publicly available" like they promised. I think you hafta go on their theme tool website and apply to be a "partner" with them (Samsung).
I'd definitely like to test the theme out. How can i do that?
I would like to help test this theme if you need it!
@cambunch are you hacking the theme by 7-zip injecting images into the apk, or have you found a way to decompile and recompile without breaking the theme?
I've spent quite a few hours trying to make my own theme to share for the GS6 and was never able to recompile the apk with different xml overrides.

I am able to recompile the APKs without breaking them (sorta). The signature gets changed so they aren't user-installable, but placing them in the proper folders and setting the right permissions allows them to work.
I will add a post on how to recompile them when I get some time.
It would be awesome if you could replace the background image of the BMW i8 Theme with a white or light grey background
You have to apply to the Samsung website to get the tools, they will not be released publicly it seems. But that's how you can gain access for now.

agreed...this is the only usable theme so far (other than Urban) because it has some nice dark colors. thankfully the image is not in your face noticeable.
Here is a quick file I threw together to make the BMW theme have a white background. I make no promises that everything is themed properly as I don't use this one
All you need to do is have the BMW theme applied and then flash this in FlashFire: http://d-h.st/eT6J

Yep, in combination with Nova Launcher (so I don't have to see the ugly icons), I really like the BMW i8 Theme the most.

[THEME] [No Root] [SystemUI+Apps] Material (Light + Dark)

Material theme for ZenFone 2 (Light and Dark)
Since the new themes app update, third party themes support is back. However, it looks like third party themes cannot theme apps and system ui... Can anyone confirm this? To fully apply the theme, you need a firmware inferior to 2.20.40.156.
Get the stock Android experience on your ZenFone.
Apply the theme to change:
- Lock screen shortcuts
- Quick settings panel
- Status bar icons
- Settings app (Light only)
- Dialer and Contacts app (To enable the dark theme, tap the 3 dots menu (on the dialpad)→Settings→Custom Settings→Theme→Dark Theme)
- Messaging app (To enable the dark theme, tap the 3 dots menu→Settings→Customize→Dark Theme)
- Music app (To enable the dark theme, tap the 3 dots menu→Settings→Theme color→Dark Theme)
Make sure you set the Asus keyboard theme to "Material" and that you reset all themed apps to their default accent color.
You may need to restart your device for the changes to take effect.
You can choose the dark theme in the apps settings.

[MOD/THEME] NMF26F | Various Framework-res Accent Colors

Framework-Res Colors
These are for Nexus 6P running build NMF26F ONLY.
These are not full-blown themes. I've just changed the four accent color values.
These four accent color values change the color of things like the Setting icons, volume sliders, various radio buttons, the wait/loading circle, the app drawer quick-scroll button and Search text (if you're using the Pixel Launcher and probably the Google Launcher), toggle switches, and a few other things.
Zips Contain:
- framework-res.apk with the following mods:
Your chosen accent color
Blue (I realize there are already blue versions floating around. It just felt weird not to include what is a lot of people preferred color.)
Red
Purple
Green
Yellow/Orange (I'd originally made two, but I could hardly tell the difference. I can make a darker more distinct orange if anybody wants that. Let me know.)
Pink
Cyan
Dynamic Navbar
Navbar set at 33dpi height (smaller than stock)
Credit
@gerard_f - I reversed engineered, so to speak, his framework-res.apk, and from there discovered where to change the accent colors.
@idid idamrep - Dynamic Navbar how-to
How To
Using apktool, or a similar piece of software, go to /res/values/colors.xml
Find these lines:
Code:
<color name="accent_device_default_700">#ffdb1b1e</color>
<color name="accent_device_default_light">#fff85a5c</color>
<color name="accent_device_default_dark">#ffb1070a</color>
<color name="accent_device_default_50">#ffe6a0a1</color>
default_700 - I believe this is what is used for the settings icons, for example.
default_light - I'm not sure where this is used.
default_dark - I believe this is used for the volume sliders, for example.
default_50 - this is used as the background for the toggle switches, for example.
- Change the values to whatever colors you'd like.
- There are many other values you can change. I've only listed the values that I changed.
- You can get color codes from plenty of websites. I use this one.
Can I please make more with different colors?
Maybe, but don't hold me to that. There are millions of colors in the spectrum and I can't realistically make every color someone could possible want.
I will say this... If I get enough request for the same color(ish), I will make one with that color(ish).
If you request a color, the ideal thing would be for you to provide me with an exact color code.
Red, for example, can mean one of hundreds of red variations. I can't possibly know what "red" looks like in your mind.

Here you go! Let me know that it works.
I would highly recommend you have a full back-up ready just in case something goes wrong as I am unable to test this zip. It should be perfectly fine, but stranger things have been known to happened.
I assumed you wanted the 33dpi navbar as well; however, if you discover that you hate it, let me know and I'll make a normal height navbar for you.
I'd rather you not share it with others in your Pixel community. Instead, direct them to this post, or this thread so they can discover how to design theirs themselves. Thank you.
FOR PIXEL PHONES (NOT SURE WHICH ONE) ONLY. DO NOT USE IF YOU HAVE A NEXUS 6P OR ANY OTHER PHONE.
Stupid question: how did you get your changes to SystemUI and Framework-Res to stick? I tried modifying SystemUI using apktool and baksmali and I can't seem to get my modifications to work correctly, and I end up having to restore to a backup because if I flash back to stock SystemUI the app keeps crashing upon reboot. Thanks in advance!

If I had to guess I'd say that's a signature issue. All /system apps need to have the same signature. You can either take the Meta-inf and Android.Manifest.xml files from the stock apk and put them in your modified apk replacing the ones that are already in your modified apk, or the easier way, IMO, when you recompile the apk using apktool, use the "-c" command at the end. For example: apktool b SystemUI -c
The -c makes the compiler keep the same signature as the original apk.

Question MIUI 13 (Android 12) colour picker

Hi I am running 13.0.3.0 (SKFEUXM) ROM. Non rooted. And as MIUI does not comply fully with the Google standards you do not get any of the Pixel options to choose a colour theme.
But it does theme certain elements - like the gmail widget and others - see pic attached/below.
But I cannot see how it has picked this colour. On a pixel it will theme automatically using the wallpaper - but on RM10P it does not change when changing wallpaper and the wallpaper I have is blue/white (snowy scene in countryside with a bright blue sky).
Just wondered if anyone had figured this out?
NOTE: I know the repainter app exists - but this does not work with current ROM unrooted (I don’t want to root).
UPDATE: now fixed in 13.0.8.0 : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/miui-13-android-12-colour-picker.4420717/post-86725143
Cheers

Use repainter app from GPlay, its work
Hi. I know the repainter app exists see above - but this does not work with current ROM unrooted (I don’t want to root).
Tried it before update and just today when repainter was updated.
What version of RMN10PRO software are you running?
Cheers
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the ROM doesn't have the full dynamic Material Me thing implemented (it's not just the color picker missing), so Google apps are just defaulting to their fallback color scheme for A12. I'm not sure it can be helped.
(Also the whole dynamic Material Me is a nice idea with a horrible implementation even when it does work as expected, IMO. It creates the illusion of adding more customization options to Android, except it actually does the exact opposite.)
Hi Case_ - you articulated what is missing better than me, thanks.
And makes sense that a default exists.
So I am assuming all here on a non rooted stock MIUI A12 based ROM all have the same green hue in A12 Google widgets?
Cheers

Hi. No idea, hence this thread. You can try repainter in the app store but for me it does not work. So I have the green theme in Google widgets like the attached partial screenshot in original post.
I don't have any colour issues in google apps though.
Good luck.

It's worse than I tought, but there's a way... the color accent is vinculated to your wallpaper and you can only change the color accent of google apps by changing your wallpaper, and there's no way to turn it off. lol

Yes I should of said "no idea for my model and ROM". The wallpaper colours does dictate if the ROM complies with Google intentions. Unfortunately in the wonderful world of disparate software and hardware versions of Xiaomi in my ROM and model the wallpaper colour makes no difference (see and read my original post up top).
Glad it works on your combo.
Cheers
Hi FYI. Had an update today to 13.0.8.0 and all working now. Bug fixed. PSB - colour tint of Google apps now changes related to wallpaper.
First screen grab is my normal wallpaper (blue sky on a snowy day scene). This originally showed a green tint (green is default apparently):
Second screen grab is a wallpaper with more red tones:

There is another way try this
It's from the wallpaper by default, but you can pick your own color & style, with some restrictions.
Android 13 DP2: New Material You dynamic color theme styles and how to use them
For Android 13, Google is expanding Material You's dynamic color system with different color theme styles. Here's how to try them out early.
9to5google.com
Use an adb shell command like this to set the color to #3E2723 and the style to TONAL_POINT:
Code:
settings put secure theme_customization_overlay_packages '{"android.theme.customization.theme_style":"TONAL_POINT","android.theme.customization.color_source":"preset","android.theme.customization.system_palette":"3E2723"}'
And the following to revert back to using the wallpaper's color:
Code:
settings put secure theme_customization_overlay_packages '{"android.theme.customization.color_both":"0","android.theme.customization.color_source":"home_wallpaper"}'
